No Man's Sky Beyond launched earlier this week, bringing some huge changes to the game and VR support. Unfortunately, this massive update also came with a few problems, particularly for PC and VR players, who experienced performance issues and crashes. However, Hello Games has been quick to address these problems, with several patches already in place.

So far, No Man's Sky Beyond has had four patches in the days following release, fixing crashing issues on PS4 and PC. Beyond that, those attempting to play in VR mode with a Windows Mixed Reality headset will want to make sure they have installed patch 2.05, as this update fixes crashes for Windows MR users.

Other improvements have arrived for the game's new massively multiplayer social spaces, which should now have fewer performance issues for PC players. If you have been having issues with crashes while spawning freighters or in the game's menu, then you will want to hang on for Patch 2.06, which should address those two specific problems within the next couple of days.

There are more fixes in the experimental beta branch of No Man's Sky on Steam, which you can opt in to. For the time being, Hello Games is updating their Steam Forum post with new information on fixes as they come through.

KitGuru Says: No Man's Sky Beyond is a hugely impressive update but there are some lingering problems. Fortunately, Hello Games has proven over the last couple of years that it is keen on addressing these issues as quickly as possible. If patches keep coming in at their current rate, all major issues may be wiped out in no time at all.

No Man’s Sky has had quite the impressive turnaround over the years. While the game initially disappointed at launch, the team at Hello Games put their heads down and got to work on various improvements, leading to several huge free updates. At this point, No Man’s Sky has better crafting/building, proper multiplayer and the next big update lands today.

No Man’s Sky Beyond will contain three major updates rolled into one and will be the first major update since No Man’s Sky NEXT, which brought in over 100,000 concurrent players at launch. A launch trailer for the Beyond update released this afternoon, teasing what’s to come:

The new gameplay trailer gives us a much better look at the Beyond update compared to the previous teaser. Not only will this update add VR support to the game, but it looks like multiplayer is going to be expanded on with a new ‘massively multiplayer' social space known as The Nexus, where you can meet up with fellow explorers.

Other new features appear to include new planets, space stations and building upgrades. Hello Games likes to keep a few surprises right up until an update is released, so there will be more to learn later today when the No Man's Sky Beyond update officially rolls out on Steam. If past updates are anything to go by, that rollout should start at 6PM tonight in the UK.

KitGuru Says: This latest update is looking very promising so far. I may well end up jumping back in to No Man's Sky myself, particularly if the VR support is done well. Are any of you planning on playing this later this evening when the new update launches?

The new gameplay trailer gives us a much better look at the Beyond update compared to the previous teaser. Not only will this update add VR support to the game, but it looks like multiplayer is going to be expanded on and will be more social than before. It also looks like explorable biomes, space stations and building may also have had a few upgrades based on the gameplay footage.

There will likely be a more complete breakdown of all the new features when Beyond launches, until then, it looks like Hello Games might want to keep a few surprises up its sleeve. No Man's Sky: Beyond officially launches next week on the 14th of August. The update is free to everyone who owns the game.

KitGuru Says: No Man’s Sky Beyond might convince me to jump back in, especially with VR support and multiplayer all working. Have many of you returned to No Man’s Sky since it first came out? Are you planning to jump back in next week when the Beyond update launches?

One thing we do know is that No Man's Sky Beyond will include VR support, so Oculus Rift, HTC VIVE, Windows Mixed Reality, PSVR and Valve Index headset owners can enjoy the game in a way that was not possible before.

No Man's Sky: Beyond will launch on the 14th of August and we should hear more about the major updates outside of VR support leading up to the release date.

Last year, players of Elite Dangerous began noticing some odd encounters. A few players managed to come across huge Thargoid ships and soon after, the alien race began attacking spaceports in the game. This has all been building up to Elite Dangerous: Beyond, a multi-chapter series of updates that will explore humanity's next steps in the face of the Thargoid threat. Beyond marks the third season of Elite: Dangerous content and will be going live at the end of next week.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond Chapter One had an open beta on PC last month. Now, the official launch for Chapter One has been announced, with the update set to begin rolling out on Tuesday. The update is free for all players and will focus largely on “community-requested enhancements”, including changes to the crime and punishment system and a trading system revamp. You can see the trailer for Elite Dangerous: Beyond- Chapter One below:

As Frontier explains it, Chapter One features “a range of game-improving updates, including changes to the engineering mechanics, an overhaul of mission rewards, and an altered crime and punishment system”. During the open beta, pilots will have a chance to fly a new alliance warship known as The Chieftain and the GalNet news station will constantly be giving players updates on what is happening throughout the galaxy, bringing story to the forefront of the experience.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond's first chapter will be part of the game's 3.0 update. It begins rolling out on the 27th of February.

KitGuru Says: I've been playing quite a bit of Elite Dangerous over the last month, though I've mainly been grinding for credits in anticipation for this update. Are many of you still playing Elite Dangerous at the moment? Will you be jumping back in for ED: Beyond?

Last year, players of Elite Dangerous began noticing some odd encounters. This has all been building up to Elite Dangerous: Beyond, a multi-chapter series of updates that will explore humanity's next steps in the face of the Thargoid threat.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond Chapter One is getting an open beta for PC players this month. While this test is under way, players will have access to Wing Missions, team-based challenges, a revamped trading system and ‘reworked planet rendering'. There is a short teaser trailer for the expansion below:

As Frontier explains it, Chapter One features “a range of game-improving updates, including changes to the engineering mechanics, an overhaul of mission rewards, and an altered crime and punishment system”. During the open beta, pilots will have a chance to fly a new alliance warship known as The Chieftain and the GalNet news station will constantly be giving players updates on what it happening throughout the galaxy, bringing story to the forefront of the experience.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond's first chapter will be a free update for PC players at some point in Q1 2018. The open beta will kick off on the 25th of January. After that, Frontier will begin focusing on future chapters.

KitGuru Says: I've been itching to jump back into Elite Dangerous recently, so this has come at a great time for me. It sounds like Frontier is gearing up for a huge showdown between humans and the Thargoid race, which could be very exciting. Are many of you still playing Elite Dangerous at the moment? Will you be jumping back in for ED: Beyond?
