Humble Bundles are a great way for players to obtain a larger variety of titles for a relatively low price. In an interesting move by the company, Humble are currently offering a special Destiny 2 themed bundle, featuring all of the currently available content for a greatly reduced price.

Available for the next two weeks, the ‘Destiny 2 Story So Far’ bundle is available in 4 variants. Paying £6.30 will net you:

  • Destiny 2: Forsaken Pack
  • Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Expansion

Upping the payment to £9.45 includes the previously-mentioned DLC plus:

  • Destiny 2: Beyond Light Expansion
  • Destiny 2: Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack
  • Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Expansion

Going one step up to £15.75 will get you all of the above plus:

  • Destiny 2: Lightfall Expansion

Last but certainly not least, paying the full £31.50 will add:

  • Destiny 2 Lightfall + Annual Pass

While undoubtedly a heavy discount compared to purchasing all of the DLC separately, it is worth noting that due to vaulting/sunsetting which has occurred in the past, Destiny 2’s ‘story so far’ might be missing a couple pieces of the puzzle content-wise.

Still if you were wanting to get into Destiny, now is as good a time as any, especially as a portion of the bundle’s proceeds will be going to the Bungie Foundation charity.

Each week, Epic Games gives away a game or two to all those with an Epic Games account. As they have done for the past many years, the Christmas season sees the platform holder go all-out on offering titles for free. 2023’s Holiday giveaway begins with Destiny 2: Legacy Collection.

Available from now until the 20th of December, Destiny 2 Legacy Collection includes almost all of the expansions released so far for the game – all but the most recent ‘Lightfall’ expansion. That means you're able to get your hands on Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and The Witch Queen. At launch, each of these expansions cost a combined £70 if bought separately (or £49.99 if bought together).

If you have yet to play any of Destiny’s expansions, the Legacy Collection will give you plenty to get stuck into for quite some time. Furthermore, as the expansions are tied to your Bungie account, you will own them across all platforms.

As mentioned, Destiny 2 marks the beginning of Epic’s annual seasonal promotion which sees the Fortnite maker give away a free game every single day. According to insider Billbil-kun, from the 20th onwards, a new free game will be given away each day until the 4th of January – totalling 17 games. Even if the Epic Games store isn’t your primary way to play PC games, Epic normally kicks it up a notch for the season, so it is worth keeping an eye out.

2023 has been far from the best year for Destiny. Following the middling response to the game’s last major expansion ‘Lightfall’ and the delay of The Final Shape – as well as a bunch of layoffs – faith in the MMO-like FPS has fallen somewhat. While this sentiment remains, Bungie has now announced that they are crossing over with CDPR’s The Witcher.

Making the announcement via a press release, the team said “Today, Bungie revealed the upcoming in-game collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED coming alongside Season of the Wish on November 28. Guardians can style themselves as monster slayers with new cosmetics inspired by Geralt of Rivia. The crossover includes armor ornaments, a Ghost shell, ship, Sparrow, emote, and finisher.”

While a relatively new model for Destiny, the live-service title has had a few significant crossovers in the past, namely with a number of first-party PlayStation franchises including God of War; Horizon; Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us.

No price was given for the Witcher bundle, but if it’s anything like the prior collabs, expect it to cost a pretty penny.

Fashion is a big part of Destiny, with the look of an armour piece being just as if not more important than its effects. Embracing this fact, Bungie has announced a number of PlayStation-themed armour pieces, coming to all platforms today.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Destiny account said “Embrace your inner warrior. Season of the Deep // May 23, 2023.”

Alongside this, an image was shared showing the various pieces of crossover armour. Titan classes can appropriately get their hands on Kratos-themed pieces, while Hunters meanwhile can don Aloy’s iconic Nora outfit. Warlocks on the other hand can channel their inner Jin Sakai with Ghost of Tsushima inspired pieces. Last but not least, a Last of Us themed Ghost shell is also available, emitting spores while looking like a clicker.

It is worth noting that despite being PlayStation themed, all these pieces will be available to purchase at the Eververse store on all platforms. No price was given, though similar sets in the past have been listed at $20 each, so not an insignificant amount of money.

Still, these crossover pieces are pretty cool, and marks one of the first times that PlayStation has taken advantage of its ownership of Bungie.

Destiny 2 has enjoyed a healthy user base for the entirety of the game’s 5+ years on the market. That said, the latest Lightfall DLC has been presented as a major moment for Destiny – and this has been met with a similarly major boost in the game’s player count; pushing the title to a new concurrent player count record on Steam.

At 9PM on the 28th of February 2023 Destiny 2 broke its own peak concurrent user record, amassing a total of 316,651 players. This marks a pretty significant increase over the previous record of 292,314 peak players and is doubly impressive when taking into account the fact that the previous record was set all the way back in September 2019 during the game’s Steam launch.

With the release of each major expansion we have seen interest in Destiny 2 peak, with many instances seeing the game near its Steam launch figures in terms of concurrent players –  though never surpassing it.

That Destiny 2 is hitting new highs more than 5 years later is testament to the fact that the team at Bungie are able to keep striking gold time and time again. It will be interesting to see whether this record will once again be broken.

Destiny 2 is not a hard game. Thanks to the game’s movement and combat mechanics, simplistic enemy AI and snappy aim-assist, the game is highly satisfying to play – though perhaps not the most challenging in PvE environments. Ahead of Destiny 2’s massive Lightfall DLC, the team has confirmed some major changes are on their way.

Taking to their blog, the Destiny dev team published a lengthy and comprehensive post detailing the next 365 days of Destiny 2. One of the biggest changes set to arrive within the next year pertains to the game’s difficulty, with director Joe Blackburn explaining that:

“Last year, we spent a lot of time bringing all our subclasses up to the Stasis 3.0 standard. During that time, not only did our abilities become more powerful, but their synergy with weapons and gear raised the total Power tide for all boats. The result of these changes is a game with a more compelling RPG, but at times lower levels of challenge in our core content. With a player base as large as Destiny’s, the right level of difficulty is going to be different for everyone.”

Blackburn continued, “While we are still committed to offering multiple difficulty levels in content such as our campaigns, Nightfalls, secret missions, dungeons, and raids, we feel like the baseline challenge in most of our content is just too low.”

The Destiny team have decided to take a two-pronged approach to this issue, slightly nerfing players through an increase to the ability recharge time across a wide selection of abilities while also adjusting the amount of damage resistance granted by resilience and increasing the energy cost of resilience mods.

The second prong involves altering the way enemies have been scaled when compared to the Guardians, meaning you will not be able to be way overleveled compared to them moving forward (though exact details are still unknown).

The 5000 word blog post offers so much more, including discussions surrounding future seasons, weapon crafting, PvP and an upcoming Exotic mission rotator – to name just a few. The full blog post can be found HERE.

Internal component, system and peripheral manufacturers, ASUS and Gigabyte, are working on their own takes on virtual reality headsets according to a new report. Expected to debut in 2016, the headsets will come from ASUS internal developments we're told, while Gigabyte's will come out of a partnership it has with Chinese VR firm, 3Glasses.

None of this is confirmed, so take it with a pinch of salt, but Digitimes has it that ASUS will be trying to bundle virtual reality hardware with gaming notebooks in an attempt to further push both products it offers. Although not explicitly mentioned, we know ASUS is working on an augmented reality headset, so it may be that the discussion of VR gear is related to that, or it could be another product entirely.

d2

In comparison, Gigabyte hasn't said anything about virtual reality hardware to date, but the report claims it's partnered up with 3Glasses to get it done. The Chinese VR manufacturer already has a 2K display VR headset (though it does operate at just 60Hz) known as the D2, so whether Gigabyte will be looking to rebrand that or make something entirely new with 3Glasses remains to be seen.

Presumably with the Q1 release date for the Oculus Rift CV1 and the HTC Vive arriving in April, neither ASUS' or Gigabyte's solution will beat those companies to market, but it will be interesting to see what they offer in the form of legitimate competition.

KitGuru Says: I just hope neither of these headsets offer a lacklustre solution for consumers, ruining their first taste of VR.
