The ESA is finally starting to reveal some of its plans for E3 2021 following months of leaks and rumours about this year's show. While we were unsure how many major publishers would support E3 this year with its new all-digital focus, the turnout is presently surprising, with the likes of Nintendo, Xbox and Ubisoft joining in, amongst others.

Today it was announced that E3 2021 will include appearances from Nintendo, Xbox, Ubisoft, Take-Two, Warner Bros, Capcom, Konami and Koch Media. Unfortunately, there is no word on whether Sony or EA will participate, but given that both companies have moved away from E3 in the past few years, it seems likely that both companies will host their own individual events instead. Square Enix is also not listed, but that is to be expected given the company began doing its own Direct-style streams last month.

Even without Sony, EA or Square Enix, the publisher line-up is fairly strong this year. As we've known for a while now, this year's show will be online only and recently, the ESA also confirmed that the show will be completely free, so there won't be any paywalls getting in the way of watching new game announcements as they unfold.

In a statement sent to GI.biz, ESA CEO, Stanley Pierre-Louis, said: “For more than two decades, E3 has been the premier venue to showcase the best that the video game industry has to offer, while uniting the world through games. We are evolving this year's E3 into a more inclusive event, but will still look to excite the fans with major reveals and insider opportunities that make this event the indispensable centre stage for video games.”

E3 2021 is currently set to take place between the 12th and 15th of June. An exact schedule has yet to be revealed, but more information will be announced in the weeks to come.

KitGuru Says: The ESA is finally giving us some reasons to be excited about E3 this year – a much needed change of pace after the lack of show in 2020. Will many of you be tuning into E3 this year? What are you hoping to see announced?

The Steam Summer Sale has come and gone but as we enter the final months of the year, there will be three additional sales coming our way. This week, the dates for the Steam Halloween Sale, Autumn Sale and Winter Sale have leaked, so it is time to get that wishlist populated and prepare your wallet.

The final sales of the year are all taking place in close proximity this year. The Halloween Sale will take place from the 28th of October to the 1st of November, while the Autumn Sale will start on the 26th of November and end on the 3rd of December. Just a few weeks later, the Winter Sale will kick off on the 19th of December and end on the 2nd of January.

The dates this time around were supplied by SteamDB. Valve gives all registered publishers and developers on Steam a heads up on sale dates so that they can set discounts in advance themselves. As a result, Steam Sale dates have leaked for several years now.

We don't know what Valve might have planned on the event side though. For the Steam Summer Sale, we had a ‘Grand Prix' event, which awarded free games, Steam credit and other goodies for taking part. That event had some issues, so hopefully there is a better plan in place for the new upcoming sales.

KitGuru Says: There will be plenty of Steam Sales coming up over the next couple of months. Are there any games you'll be keeping an eye on?

We are just over one week away from the launch of Fallout 76 but there is still one more round of beta tests to go. Over the last couple of weeks, players across PC, Xbox One and PS4 have had a few chances to try the game out and on Thursday we'll have the last call for pre-release gameplay.

Fallout 76 has two final beta dates scheduled, the first is today on the 6th of November from 6PM to 8AM GMT. In the US, its 10AM to 12PM PST and 1PM to 3AM EST. The final beta will take place on Thursday the 8th of November from 7PM to 1AM GMT, 11AM to 5PM PST and 2PM to 8PM EST.

Fallout 76 has proven to be a bit divisive since beta testing got under way but since this is a live game, we can expect plenty of changes and improvements to be made over the next year. As we approach release, Bethesda will be releasing a roadmap for planned post-release content drops to keep players coming back.

Fallout 76 will launch on the 14th of November for Xbox One, PC and PS4.

KitGuru Says: I put a few hours into the Fallout 76 beta but I found myself getting quite bored and even began experiencing motion sickness. It doesn't seem like the kind of game for me but I'd like to hear some of your opinions. Did many of you play the beta? How did you find it?

Over the last few years, it has grown increasingly easier to get your game published on Steam, which also means it’s easier for developers to get the scoop on upcoming Steam sales and leak the dates. Since as far back as 2014, sale date leaks have been consistent and 2018 is no different. The Steam Summer Sale is coming, and according to leaks, it should be live in a matter of hours.

We had two leaks for this one, the first came from the Steam Database Twitter account, which confirmed that the Steam Summer Sale will be kicking off on the 21st of June. This is backed up by a screenshot of Valve's email on the matter, which gets sent out to devs and publishers ahead of time so they can prepare.

The Steam summer sale will start on the 21st of June at 9:55am Pacific time, and will end on the 5th of July at 10:05am Pacific time. Here in the UK, that equates to a start time of 17:55PM on the 21st of June, and an end time of 18:05PM on the 5th of July.

Over the last couple of years, Valve has been removing the gimmicks from its Steam sales, so the prices you see on day one will remain for the full length of the sale, so you don't need to worry about a game becoming cheaper later on.

KitGuru Says: The 2018 Steam Summer Sale is on the way! Is there anything you'll be hoping to pick up? I've been thinking about grabbing Divinity Original Sin 2 for a while myself, so this will be the perfect opportunity.

Over the last few years, it has grown increasingly easier to get your game published on Steam, which also means it's easier for developers to get the scoop on upcoming Steam sales and leak the dates. Each year since 2014, the date of the sale has leaked online prior and this year is no exception.

In a post on the Steam subreddit, a user posted a screenshot of Valve's latest notice to developers, giving them the dates for the upcoming Summer Sale so that they can prepare discounts. This year, the Steam Summer sale runs from the 22nd of June until the 5th of July.

This year's Summer Sale dates aren't too far off the 2016 sale dates. Last year, the sale ran from the 23rd of June until the 4th of July. 2016 was also the year Valve changed its sales format to be rid of flash and daily deals, meaning gamers no longer need to hold off until the last day of a sale to make their purchases, or refresh the Steam page every few hours.

KitGuru Says: Valve has been slowly removing the ‘gimmick' factor from its sales over the last year or so. Community achievements and trading cards will likely still play a big part this year though. Are any of you looking forward to this year's Steam sale? Is there anything in particular you are planning on grabbing?

Genius reporter David Lee, over at the BBC, has uncovered a dating mystery. As KitGuru goes into ‘Roses are Red, Violets are Blue – We can Rhyme and so can You' melt down, we also try and bring you some of the facts.

It seems that an organisation called ‘Cloud Girlfriend' can provide lonely souls with the ‘change in relationship status' that they so badly need and want during this difficult time of year.

In times gone by, when we all went out-and-about a lot more, sad folks might have considered hiring a woman for a romantic meal. Ideally, the escort would be someone who might (just about) be ‘natural' enough to fool passers by into thinking ‘Wow, he's lucky to have her' etc.

The ‘complete win' would be if the artificial couple were spotted by a friend – and word spread that ‘He is doing really well'.

We have gone with a male hirer and female hiree – but it could work the other way around.

Enter the 21st century and the aspiring online world of entrepreneurship that is Facebook.

Cloud Girlfriend allows you to pick your ideal date from a list of possibilities – and then give them the dream-selection of attributes that would make any of your friends jealous.

The intrepid reporter signed up for the service and got his dream date. Status updates were followed by a slew of congratulations and surprise, in equal measure.  It also seems that he didn't need to lie too much about how they met etc, because his friends began filling in the gaps.

It's easy to get fooled online. Be careful out there.

.

Facebook is reported as stating that ‘As long as the financial transactions happen elsewhere, there is little they can do to prevent people hooking up, changing status and writing messages'.

Sounds a lot like what Facebook was invented for.

One of the ladies offering this kind of service is also a pro-class singer. She will drop a tune onto your timeline to add realism. Like this.

KitGuru says: With professional services starting from as little as $5 (£3.50), it's easy to see how people who need a little ego boost might be encouraged to take the plunge and pick up a date. It's fast, convenient and guarantees the result you're after – buzz around you and your timeline. In our experience, turning up at a nightclub with 2 or 3 gorgeous ladies almost certainly improves your chances – so maybe this is simply ‘Next-Gen: Fake it until you make it' and it could have a (genuinely) positive outcome – but please be wary of scam artists!
