Dell has shown off a brand new 8K monitor at CES 2017. Measuring just 32 inches diagonally, the monstrous-resolution Dell UltraSharp 32 Ultra HD monitor offers a full 33.2 million pixels, more than double that of its previous 5K displays.

The Consumer Electronics Show always sees companies pushing the boundaries with new hardware and Dell is no exception. Its UP3218K display resolution is a ridiculous 7,680×4,320 pixels and though we have seen TVs that support such detail before, they have always been enormous, sometimes as large as 90 inches wide.

In comparison the new Dell UltraSharp 32 is rather small at ‘just' 32 inches, but should prove capable of near lifelike visuals thanks to its detail. It also supports 100 per cent Adobe RGB and sRGB colouring, for full and deep colours on every image.

It may be a little hard to find content to play natively on such a display, but at least new HDMI standards mean you can transmit those sorts of images.

Dell didn't go into full details about connectors or the abilities of its stand, but we do know that the new 8K display will begin availability on 23rd March in the U.S. and will be priced at $5,000 (£4,000).

Dell also showed off a new 27 inch monitor at CES this year, known as the Ultrathin. It earned itself an Innovation Awards Honoree (non) award, thanks to its incredibly thin profile. It features a super-slimline bezel too, so looks incredibly sleek and supports quad-HD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels). It has full HDR support and built in USB Type-C connectors for convenience.

It too will launch on 23rd March, but at a much lower $700 price point.

KitGuru Says: It's impressive to see how quickly the prices are coming down on ultra-resolution displays, but it's still barely worth it to buy 4K, let alone 8K.

Dell have launched a new ultrathin laptop in China today, called the XPS 14z. This is going to filter out into Europe and the US over the coming months.

Dell say that the XPS 14z is the worlds thinnest machine which has a slot for an optical drive. It is 23 millimeters thick and is built around an aluminum chassis, much like the Apple machines. 14 inch computers in China are the most popular size.

The laptop has a 14 inch screen rated at 1366 x 768 pixels. There are options to kit out the laptop with Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors and the claimed battery life is 7 hours, which is quite impressive, if accurate. It is a little expensive, as expected with a price around $1,200 US.

China is the world's biggest PC market according to Dell, surpassing the US in sales this year. They have been putting a lot of time an effort into focusing with developing markets, rather than America and parts of Europe.

Kitguru says: We really like the appearance of this laptop.
