While we wait for a more precise date for the release of the Intel Arc Alchemist GPUs, a slide showing the memory configuration of the laptop SKUs has been leaked. As it seems, there will be five SKUs in total and up to 16GB of VRAM.

Reading the table shared by HXL, we find the DG2-512EU SKU in the first column. Featuring 16GB of memory (2GB x 8 modules) clocked at 16Gbps across a 256-bit memory bus, we have a maximum bandwidth of 512GB/s. The I/O voltage in this SKU is set at 1.35V.

Moving on to the DG2-384EU SKU, this one packs 12GB of memory on 2GB memory modules clocked at 16Gbps. By using a 192-bit memory bus, bandwidth maxes out at 384 GB/s. Like the DG2-512EU SKU, the 384EU one also has its I/O voltage set at 1.35V.

In the middle of the hierarchy, there's the DG2-256EU SKU packing 4x modules of 2GB of memory, for a total of 8GB of VRAM. The memory runs at 16Gbps across a 128-bit memory bus for a maximum bandwidth of 256GB/s, while the I/O voltage is set at 1.35V.

Lastly, the DG2-128EU and DG2-96EU share the same 4GB memory configuration and I/O voltage of 1.25V. Using a 64-bit memory bus and up to two modules of 2GB of memory running at 14Gbps, bandwidth is limited to 112GB/s.

Intel expects to launch the DG2 laptop GPUs this quarter, most likely in March.

KitGuru says: The table doesn't include the rumoured DG2-448EU SKU, but that doesn't mean we won't see it in the desktop lineup.

With Intel's 12th Gen Core processors starting to roll out, the company is also releasing a new graphics driver to accompany them. As you would expect, this new driver brings support for the new Xe iGPU found on the new processors, but digging through the files reveals references to a number of upcoming Xe-DG2 GPUs as well.

A user on the LaptopVideo2Go forums downloaded Intel's latest graphics driver (v30.0.101.1002) for 12th to 6th generation processors and began datamining, finding the list of supported devices. Aside from adding support for the latest integrated graphics for Intel 12th Gen (Alder Lake-S) processors, the driver also adds support for Alder Lake-P and Alder Lake-M for mobile devices.

There is also a section for DG2 GPUs, where you'll see 32 IDs for the upcoming series of Intel graphics SKUs. That's about six times more than  DG1, meaning Intel is planning significantly more DG2 GPUs compared to DG1. However, we don't expect to see 32x DG2 graphics solutions out in the wild.

Considering Intel is launching their DG2/Arc Alchemist GPUs in Q1 2022, it's not too surprising to see references popping up here. However, it's unclear which GPUs these IDs refer to. Recent leaks have suggested that the first batch of Intel Arc Alchemist GPUs, releasing in Q1 2022, will be laptop GPUs, with desktop solutions coming later in Q2 2022.

KitGuru says: It's still early days, but we're starting to get a clearer picture of Intel's 2022 graphics plans.

Yesterday, we shared a rumour claiming the Intel Arc Alchemist line-up would include a 128EU-GPU. That particular rumour claimed the entry level GPU would feature 4GB or 8GB of memory, but a leaked photo suggests that it will actually ship with 6GB of VRAM across a 96-bit memory bus.

The new report comes from a Chiphell user, sharing a blurry photo of an alleged Intel Arc Alchemist desktop 128EU-GPU, as seen by the mounting holes. The photo uploader said it saw the DG2, describing its design as “unique”. On the PCB, there are 3x memory pads, suggesting the card will feature a total of 6GB of memory.

The leaker didn't detail the memory bus of the card, but @Locuza_ did, showing a diagram of the 128EU-GPU die. As per the schematics, the card will come with a 96-bit memory controller consisting of a 64-bit and an additional 32-bit module. The schematics also show the memory will be GDDR6 and will be clocked at 16Gbps.

Compared to yesterday's rumours, it looks like the only thing that doesn't match is the amount of memory. Instead of featuring 6GB of memory, other sources claim the 128-EU GPU will come with 4GB or 8GB of memory.

Intel has been working on its big push into the desktop graphics card market for several years and in just a few months, we'll see the first Intel Arc ‘Alchemist' graphics cards hitting shelves. While no board partners have announced their plans officially yet, it would seem that we know that at least ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte, three of the biggest AiBs, will be supporting Intel's launch.

According to MyDrivers, ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte, amongst others, will launch Intel Arc discrete graphics cards. We'll see cards based on reference designs from Intel at first, but we would also expect to see some custom-cooled solutions too.

ASUS has already been involved with Intel's graphics division recently, having released an entry-level custom Iris Xe discrete GPU, based on the Xe DG1 architecture. Videocardz also reports having sources that have confirmed that Intel has approached MSI about building graphics cards for DG2-based GPUs.

Intel has only revealed a small portion of its plans for Intel Arc GPUs, which are set to launch in early 2022. We should see more revealed officially during CES in January, although there is a good chance we see a few leaks before then as well.

KitGuru Says: Many AiBs also make motherboards and other products for both Intel and AMD based systems. With that in mind, we would expect Intel's biggest partners to be on board with its upcoming GPU launch. Hopefully we'll have more information soon enough.

There have been plenty of rumours surrounding the level of performance Intel is targeting with its upcoming Arc ‘Alchemist' discrete graphics cards. A recently leaked slide from Intel may have some answers, as it compares the upcoming GPUs against the competition from Nvidia and AMD.

The slide first appeared on Baidu, and suggests that Intel will kick off its line-up with two desktop SKUs. The higher end GPU is listed as “SOC1”, and there is also a “SOC2” listed for the mainstream market. The former is a 175W-225W GPU that will compete with the likes of the RTX 3070 and Radeon RX 6700 XT, while the latter is a 75W card that will compete with entry-level gaming GPUs, like the GTX 1650 Super.

Of course, performance targets and real-world performance comparisons could differ, we won't know for sure how Intel's GPUs stack up against Nvidia and AMD until they become available and testing can be done. It is also worth noting that we don't have confirmation on the legitimacy of this slide either.

Currently, Intel plans to launch its Arc Alchemist (formerly known as DG2) desktop graphics cards in early 2022.

The Geekbench 5 database has received a new entry for an Intel Xe graphics card with 128 Execution Units (EU). Considering the number of EUs detected, it's hard to believe that this is an iGPU based on the Xe-Graphics architecture, leading us to conclude that this is the entry-level Xe-HPG DG2 GPU.

Usually referred to as DG-128EU, the Geekbench 5 entry (via Leakbench) shows this GPU was mounted on a system using a 6C/12T Intel Core i5-11400T with a maximum clock frequency of 3.7GHz and 16GB of DDR4-2133 memory. Given these components, this GPU should be a desktop variant of the DG2-128EU, but it wouldn't be that far-fetched to see an engineering sample of a mobile GPU being tested on a desktop platform.

As per the Geekbench 5 entry, the Intel GPU reached a maximum clock frequency of 2.2GHz, further suggesting that this wasn't an integrated GPU. Additionally, rumours claimed that the mobile DG2 GPUs would boost at up to 1.8GHz, and considering that there are not many other mobile GPUs in the market reaching a 2.2GHz speed, it looks like we are indeed looking at a desktop DG2 card.

With an OpenCL score of 13710, this GPU is on par with the Nvidia GTX 660Ti and AMD Radeon RX 550 in this benchmark. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: It's still too early to draw any performance conclusions, but we should see more benchmark data in the months to come.

Intel has been working on its DG2 graphics cards for years now, with plans to launch in late 2021. It could take a bit longer for these graphics cards to be revealed though, with reports this week claiming that Intel is scheduling its DG2 launch to take place during CES 2022.

The report comes from Hardware Academy (via HXL), a Chinese content creator that operates on the Chinese social network Weibo. According to its “reliable” sources, Intel will release the DG2 cards during CES 2022. If this is Intel's plan, then an announcement should come a few weeks before that.

According to past rumours, the Intel DG2 series will have 5 SKUs, featuring up to 512 EUs and 16GB of GDDR6 memory. Intel likely won't release all five GPU variants at once, instead we expect to see the flagship GPU first, followed by the rest of the line-up throughout the year. Recent performance leaks have pointed towards the Intel DG2 512EU performing on par with an Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti.

At the moment, Intel is sending DG2 card samples to partners, finishing up the qualification phase. Then, it will proceed to mass production, and lastly, their release, which according to Hardware Academy, should be between January 3rd and 8th.

Intel has been teasing its Xe-HPG GPU architecture for a long time and now, it looks like the official launch could be happening soon as DG2 sample cards are now heading to board partners.

Raja Koduri has been teasing the upcoming Intel gaming GPUs for quite a while, but now the official Intel Graphics Twitter account is getting in on the teasing too, offering up free Odyssey branded merchandise.

Intel usually sends merchandise to media outlets before the release of a major product, as we saw with Tiger Lake. Given that 3 months had passed between Intel sending the merch and announcing the processors, we expect a Xe-HPG announcement in Q4.

In related news about Intel GPUs, the DG2/Xe-HPG cards are being sampled to partners. That's according to this presentation (6th slide), further suggesting that an announcement is coming and that the first cards might still be released this year. Additionally, it looks like Intel Xe-HP is already working in the DevCloud, while the Xe-HPC is still “in validation”.

KitGuru says: Intel is looking to make a dent in the GPU market later this year. Will any of you be looking to get a Xe-HPG graphics card once they release?

New details on Intel's upcoming DG2 graphics cards have surfaced on the Geekbench database. Two upcoming Xe-HPG versions were found, one with 256 EUs paired with an Intel Alder Lake CPU and a 96 EU GPU with another Alder Lake 14-core processor.

It's not clearly stated that these are the DG2 GPUs, but considering the number of EUs and that both are based on Intel's Gen12 GPU architecture, it looks like it's safe to assume that these two are indeed DG2 GPUs. The one with 256 EUs (execution units) is almost certainly a dedicated graphics card, but the 96 EU one could possibly be the iGPU for an Intel Alder Lake mobile processor.

The listings also give us some details about the specifications of the processor and of each GPU. The Alder CPU, mounted on a Socket 1744 FCBGA mobile socket, packed 24MB of L3 cache, 4MB of L2 cache, and about 1MB of L1 cache and reached 4.0GHz clock speeds. The clock speed readings may have been affected due to the CPU's hybrid nature.

As for the GPUs, the 96 EU SKU was clocked at 1.2GHz and had 1.5GB of video memory, scoring 6516 on the OpenCL benchmark. The 256 EU SKU featured a 1.4GHz clock speed and was equipped with 6GB of video memory, allowing it to score 18482 in the OpenCL benchmark. Comparing these scores, the DG2- 96EU GPU performs similarly to a GTX 460 and the DG2-256EU at the same level as the GTX 1050.

KitGuru says: These scores should not indicate final performance numbers. After all, we are still months away from the release of the DG2 GPUs, so we expect to see these numbers increase significantly.

We've known that Intel is planning a number of ‘DG2' GPU SKUs, but recently, a brand new one popped up, featuring 448 Execution Units, a notch below the flagship model, which will have 512 Execution Units. This newly discovered SKU will reportedly offer similar performance to the RTX 3070 and RX 6700 XT graphics cards. Meanwhile, Intel's mainstream DG2-128EU variant is said to beat the GTX 1650.

Up until now, we've never heard of an Intel DG2 SKU with 448 EUs, but according to @TUM_APISAK, there's one coming and even shared undisclosed performance figures comparing it to the RTX 3070 and the Radeon RX 6700 XT.

According to the report, the 448 EU SKU clocked at 1.8GHz is 8% slower than the Radeon RX 6700 XT and 5% slower than the RTX 3070. There is also a comparison between the DG2-128EU and the GTX 1650, suggesting that the Nvidia card is 12% slower than Intel's SKU clocked at 1.9GHz.

Intel has yet to share the release date of its DG2 gaming graphics cards, but rumours point to a paper launch in Q4 2021 and a full release in Q1 2022.

KitGuru says: These comparisons lack a lot of detail, so these results shouldn't be taken too seriously. However, if we take into account the claims of the 512EU graphics card being at the same level as the RTX 3070 Ti, the performance of the 448EU SKU in this comparison matches expectations.

Raja Koduri is back at it again, teasing the upcoming flagship Intel Xe-HPG graphics card. This week, the SVP of Intel Architecture, Graphics, and Software at Intel came to Twitter to share a photo of the Xe-HPG GPU with 512 EUs and stated that Intel is already looking into AMD FSR running on Intel GPUs.

Raja's recent tweet shows a DG2-512 GPU chip, confirming that Intel Xe-HPG GPUs will indeed feature an SKU with 512 EUs (4096 cores). Memory configuration hasn't been confirmed yet, but rumours claim it will come with 16GB of GDDR6 memory.

Intel's development on Intel Xe-HPG cards is ongoing, but Intel is starting to move on to game and driver optimisation, indicating that the hardware is nearly ready.

Soon after the announcement of FSR, Raja was asked if Intel was considering bringing support for AMD's new upscaling technology to upcoming Intel desktop GPUs. To that, Raja answered that they are “definitely looking at it”. Intel Xe-HPG's DL capabilities already “lend to approaches that achieve better quality and performance”, so it will be worth using open standards.

More Xe-HPG SKUs are expected from Intel, including one with 256 EUs and one with 128 EUs soon after the release of the DG2-512.

KitGuru says: Intel Xe-HPG GPUs are still some ways off from release, but good progress seems to have been made in recent months.

The latest report on Intel Xe-HPG graphics cards includes a lot of new details about the upcoming GPU family. The PCB Intel is using for its flagship DG2 desktop graphics card has also leaked, giving us our best look yet at what to expect from Intel in the graphics card space.

Moore's Law is Dead's latest video brings numerous updates following earlier reports. As it seems, the 512 EU SKU is now boosting above 2.2GHz, and the current TDP target is now less than 235W.

Performance claims also suggest that performance has increased a bit. Most still claim it's similar to an RTX 3070 Ti, but some benchmarks put it “just below the RTX 3080”. Raytracing is stated to be “competitive”, but Nvidia likely still has the upper-hand here.

Moreover, multiple sources confirmed that there will be 256-bit, 192-bit, 128-bit, and 64-bit SKUs. The pricing of these cards is expected to be “aggressive”, with the flagship SKU coming in between $349 and $499.

As for the photo of the 512 EU model's PCB, there are some interesting things to note. Looking at the size of it, it seems bigger than Nvidia RTX 30 series' PCB, but considering this is an engineering sample, it may still be reduced. You can also see the PCB supports 2x soldered 8-pin power connectors, with room for a couple more.

If you pay attention to the photo, you can also see there are 8x memory slots around the GPU, therefore an 8/16GB configuration across a 256-bit memory bus is indeed possible.

The Xe-HPG 512 EU GPU is expected to release in Q1 2022, but a limited/paper launch in Q4 2021 is still a possibility. The first graphics card to release should be the 512 EU model, followed by the 128 EU and 256 EU models.

KitGuru says: It's still a bit hard to believe that Intel is about to launch a series of graphics cards to compete against Nvidia and AMD. There are still some questions around performance, pricing and availability versus the competition to consider.

Intel's upcoming Xe DG2 GPUs were recently revealed to be “right around the corner” and now, we have some early information on what to expect, with new reports indicating that the first DG2 GPUs will arrive in Alder Lake-P powered laptops later this year.

As reported by Igor's LAB, the DG2 line-up will be heading laptops first in the second half of this year. The report also seems to confirm some rumours we've previously shared. There will eventually be DG2 GPUs for desktop systems, but specific dates are currently unknown.

According to Igor, the DG2 laptop line-up will consist of 5 SKUs with 4-16GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 16Gbps. The number of EUs range from 128 to 512, and GPU frequency can reach a 1.8GHz clock. The mobile variants of SKU 1, 2, and 3 will reportedly have a 100W TDP.

Here's a table listing the known specifications of each SKU:

In a tweet announcing a job opportunity, an Intel game developer relations engineer has stated that the upcoming series of Intel gaming GPUs is “right around the corner”.

The tweet is from Pete Brubaker, who posted a job listing for another senior game developer relations engineer at Intel. The job description doesn't tell us much about the DG2 gaming series, but if Intel is looking for employees such as this, it sure is for a reason. As these are the first mid and high-end gaming GPUs the company will release, there's the chance to create new relations with other companies that previously didn't make sense.

Rumours point to the release of five Intel DG2 SKUs, ranging from 96 to 512EUs and 4GB to 16GB of GDDR6 memory. The flagship GPU, expected to come with 8GB or 16GB of memory, reportedly outperforms the RTX 3070.

We expect to see the DG2 GPUs hitting both the desktop and mobile market, but it's still unclear if they will release at the same time. Intel has promised that DG2 GPUs would release by year's end, but it has specified if it meant the desktop or the mobile variant.

Pictures of an engineering sample of Intel's Xe-HPG with 512 EUs have emerged, alongside some of the GPU's expected specifications. In terms of rumoured performance, the leaker behind these images has said that the Xe-HPG with 512 EUs “should be treated like an RTX 3070 Ti”.

In the video uploaded by Moore's Law is Dead, the YouTuber shows an engineering sample of Intel's Xe-HPG featuring 512 EUs. This SKU is believed to be the flagship of the series, but we'll only know for sure once Intel officially announces the whole lineup. The cooling solution used on this particular engineering sample is one out of three potential designs that are being tested and evaluated. According to the Moore's Law is Dead, the final version should come with a white shroud.

On a more technical side, Moore's Law is Dead states that the Xe-HPG with 512 EUs reaches 2.2GHz clock frequencies. Initially, it has been designed for TSMC's 6nm node, but there is a possibility of a 7nm node being used too. With a 275W TDP, the card will feature 16GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit bus.

Performance claims are certainly not 100% guaranteed, but benchmark results seemingly point to something in between the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080. At this point AIBs still do not know much about the upcoming card because it is still “receiving design tweaks”.

Both prosumer and professional cards based on the Xe-HPG with 512 EUs are expected to release in 2022. Intel is expected to release the XE-HPG with 128 EUs after that, with the variant with 256 EUs coming later. Pricing for high-end models has not been discussed, but for the mid-range cards, rumoured pricing appears to be between $200-$300.

Besides the Xe-HP graphics cards themselves, Intel is also working on the GPU's accompanying software, including a DLSS competitor which has been internally referred to as XeSS. Moreover, the successor to Xe-HPG/DG2 was also mentioned, being referred to as “Elasti”, with an expected release date of 2023.

KitGuru says: The lack of a true high-end GPU might affect Intel in the long run. If Intel only aims to deliver GPU solutions offering the same performance as a supposed RTX 3070 Ti or RX 6800, the high-end market will be exclusive to AMD and Nvidia for at least another generation.

Intel is slowly beginning to confirm its discrete GPU plans for this year. We've been anticipating Intel Xe DG2 for quite some time and now, we have a much better idea of what to expect, thanks to new specification listings, promising up to 512 Execution Units (EUs).

The Intel repository website has been updated today to include details of Xe DG2. The main files are not accessible, but as Videocardz points out, some details are viewable without accessing the full file. Thanks to this apparent oversight, we know that Intel has a few Xe DG2 SKUs planned.

There are three main variants of the DG2, one with 512 EUs, one with 384 EUs and another with 128 EUs. Each execution unit houses 8 shading units, so the 512 EU GPU for instance would have 4096 shading units. We can also expect GDDR6 memory with speeds from 14Gbps to 18Gbps.

Other files reveal that laptop DG2 GPUs are also coming, with five SKUs planned for Intel's Tiger Lake-H and Alder Lake-P platforms. One file also notes that some laptop GPUs will be available as a PCIe add-in card and not just soldered onto a motherboard.

KitGuru Says: While Intel has yet to have a big announcement event for Xe DG2, we now have a good idea as to what to expect in the coming months. Hopefully official details will be coming in the months to come. Are many of you interested in Intel's upcoming Xe DG2 GPUs? Do you think they will compete well against the RTX 30 and RX 6000 series?

This week, Intel teased the “Xe HPG Scavenger Hunt” with a web page telling us to come back on March 26th at 9AM PST with a secret code to see what the website reveals. The website itself was hidden in a Xe HPG teaser video, which contained a hidden message:

The hidden message was decoded by wccftech, revealing an IP address that leads straight to the Xe HPG website, teasing an announcement coming next Friday. The timing here is a little odd, as on the 23rd of March, Intel CEO, Pat Gelsinger, will be hosting a webcast focused on ‘the next era of innovation' at Intel, which is three days before the Xe HPG reveal.

Intel's upcoming DG2 graphics card is rumoured to feature up to 512 EUs, 4096 cores, 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM and an 1800MHz clock speed. Hopefully we'll have some official confirmation on specifications by the end of next week.

KitGuru Says: It is going to be very interesting to see Intel competing in the discrete gaming graphics card space. Are any of you looking forward to Intel's Xe HPG reveal? Would you consider an Intel GPU over a competing Nvidia GeForce or AMD Radeon graphics card?

A new leak detailing some specifications of the Intel Xe-HPG (DG2) graphics card line-up has surfaced. As per the leak, the Intel Xe-HPG series will feature 6 models, starting with a 96 EU GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 memory, up to a 512 EU GPU with 16GB of GDDR6 memory.

This leak comes from @OneRaichu, who posted an encoded message on Twitter. Soon after the posting, the message was decoded by @harukaze5719 and @hougetsu, revealing a specification list for six Intel Xe-HPG GPUs.

As per the specifications list, the entry-level Xe-HPG graphics will feature 96 EUs (768 streaming processors), a 64-bit memory bus and 4GB of VRAM. There will be another two SKUs with 4GB of VRAM, but one has 128 EUs (1024 streaming processors) and a 64-bit bus, while the other has 192 EUs (1536 streaming processors) and a 128-bit bus. In the mid-range segment, there is a SKU with 256 EUs (2048 streaming processors), 4GB or 8GB of VRAM, and a 128-bit bus, and another SKU with 384 EUs (3072 streaming processors), 6GB or 12GB of VRAM, and a 192-bit bus. Lastly, there's an SKU featuring 512 EUs (4096 streaming processors) paired with 8GB or 16GB of VRAM across a 256-bit bus.

The memory type hasn't been specified, but it's expected to be GDDR6. The performance of these graphics cards is still unknown, but judging from the memory configuration, the 512 EUs SKU could be looking to rival AMD's RX 6800 GPUs and Nvidia's RTX 3070 and 3080.

New reports about the Intel Xe dedicated graphics solutions show that a Xe-HPG graphics card with 960 EUs is being evaluated and that the DG2 graphics card might come with up to 8GB of GDDR6 memory.

As per MebiuW, the Intel DG2 is expected to come with 128, 384, and 512 EUs, but another unnamed source (via VideoCardz) adds that the 384 EUs GPU will be paired with 6GB of GDDR6 memory, a 192-bit memory bus, and a die sized between 185 and 188 mm². Additionally, this same source also stated that Intel is evaluating the launch of a 960 EUs Xe-HPG GPU.

If Intel releases a 960 EUs graphics solution, expected for the latter half of 2021, the Xe-HPG GPU would have 7680 FP32 ALUs (cores), meaning that it could well rival AMD and Nvidia graphics cards.

In other news, an image shared by Uniko's Hardware shows a device listing with a DG2 graphics card with 8GB of GDDR6 memory and a Tiger Lake-H processor (45W), Intel's 8-core high-end mobile processors. This DG2 GPU should be the 512 EUs variant, with a 256-bit memory bus. The other processor option for this device looks to be an Intel Alder Lake-P CPU, expected to release in 2021.

A 6GB GDDR6 DG2 graphics card with 384 EUs (3072 ALUs/cores) and featuring a 192-bit memory bus has also been leaked. VideoCardz received a PCB diagram of this graphics card, showing a die sized at 189mm². Given how small the die in this DG2 cards is, there's the chance that this will be aimed at notebooks.

Another interesting feature that might come with Intel DG2 graphics card is the support for USB-C connectors, as noted by @KOMACHI_ENSAKA. This comes a day after AMD showed that the upcoming Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards come with a USB-C connector, unlike the Nvidia RTX 30 series cards.
