God of War: Ragnarök has launched and earned great critical and fan acclaim so far. With this project now out of the way, Sony Santa Monica can turn its attention to other games. Interestingly, Ragnarök's director is pretty clear about what he'd like to do next – a Castlevania game, should Konami be willing to license it out.

In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Eric Williams, the game director of God of War Ragnarök, stated he would “love to make” a new Castlevania title. The game director asked fans to “make it happen”, so if you want Santa Monica to create a new Castlevania game, your voice might be helpful for the cause.

The latest Castlevania mainline game was the MercurySteam-developed Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014. Since then, we've seen multiple relaunches of various Castlevania games on different platforms and an anime series from Netflix. However, now there's a slim chance we might actually get a new game to continue Dracula's and Alucard's story and tell us more about the Belmont family legacy.

Up to recently, Konami was known for being quite attached to its licenses. That finally started to change, with Konami opening up Silent Hill to licensing deals, resulting in numerous new games and media projects. Previously, VGC reported that Konami may already have a Castlevania reboot in the works.

KitGuru says: Are you a fan of Castlevania? Would you like to see a new mainline instalment in the series?

Activision Blizzard is going through a number of internal changes at the moment in the wake of a lawsuit regarding workplace harassment at the company. We've already seen Blizzard's president and head of HR leave the company, and now, a number of high profile developers have been let go, including the director for Diablo 4.

Diablo 4's game director, Louis Barriga, and lead level designer, Jesse McCree, are no longer at the company. Additionally, World of Warcraft designer, Jonathan LeCraft, is also no longer at Blizzard. The company did not confirm the reason for these departures, but stated that “new leaders have been assigned where appropriate”.

In a statement sent to Kotaku, an Activision Blizzard spokesperson added that the company is “confident” in its ability to continue development while ensuring “a safe, productive work environment for all”. It is worth noting that McCree and LeCraft were involved with the “Cosby Suite”, a hotel suite where employee parties were held during BlizzCon 2013. This suite was brought up in the lawsuit brought against Activision Blizzard for workplace harassment.

Activision Blizzard has not announced a new director or level design lead for Diablo 4. The game is still in development and may still be a few years away from release.

KitGuru Says: Given the allegations in the lawsuit, and the stories that have been shared about Activision Blizzard since, we may well see some more employee shuffling over the next few months.

Bioware has been losing quite a few staff members linked to Mass Effect: Andromeda recently. Over the last couple of months, the game has lost its development director, its lead writer and now, Bioware's senior editor is leaving the studio and exiting the games industry entirely.

While we don't know why the development director left, we do know that Mass Effect's lead writer switched over to Bungie to begin writing for Destiny after wrapping up the story content of Mass Effect: Andromeda.

As for Bioware's Senior Editor, Cameron Harris, who was also working on the new Mass Effect, she is choosing to exit the games industry entirely to pursue other opportunities. Writing on Twitter she said: “I've decided to exit the video-game industry to return to Seattle for new opportunities there. I'll be leaving BioWare in mid-April. I had a great time at BioWare, working with so many talented, passionate folks. I'm grateful for everything you taught me over the years. I wish all the best for my friends and colleagues at BioWare and across the games industry. You are some of the finest people I know.”

Despite these few key departures, according to EA, Bioware still has Mass Effect 4 on track for a Q1 2017 release, which is pushed back slightly from the previously forecast Q4 2016 release date.

KitGuru Says: Bioware has seen quite a few departures recently which leaves me pretty curious as to what is going on behind the scenes over there. Hopefully this doesn't end up spelling trouble for the new Mass Effect trilogy.

Many people have said over the years that due to its endless references, there was no way you could make a movie that does justice to Ernest Cline's, Ready Player One. However despite that hurdle, Warner Bros, which has owned the rights to the film before the book was even released, is going ahead with it and it's managed to secure one of the story's most lauded industry veterans, Steven Spielberg, to direct it.

In the book, as protagonist Wade Watts searches for clues to a vast fortune hidden within a virtual world, he combs through popular movies, TV shows, books and other media from the '80s, much of which is loved by the person that put the treasure hunt together and therefore has a chance to leading him closer to the prize. One of the named directors, who's catalogue of movies Wade runs through several times, is Steven Spielberg.

So it seems quite poetic that Spielberg is currently slated to direct the movie. The latest version of the script was written by Zack Penn, who's also credited with the story for the first Avengers movie and X-Men: The Last Stand. He and the book's author, Ernest Cline, previously worked together on the Atari: Game Over movie, which was well received.

But the question still remains, that with all of the references within Ready Player One, how will Warner Bros manage to get the licensing rights? While there is some hope that the filmmakers can convince some rights owners to come on board due to the ensemble nature of the movie – much as they did with the Lego animated film – it seems likely that at least a few of those mentioned in the book won't be willing to appear.

Another interesting aspect of making the film though, even if enough rights are secured, is how will the virtual world of the OASIS be displayed? Deadline believes we could end up seeing something akin to virtual reality headsets or glasses used to provide a new layer of immersion in the film. However that seems unlikely considering how infantile the VR industry still is.

KitGuru Says: Do you guys think Spielberg will do the book justice? I always thought they would do a Lego Ready Player One, as it seemed like the only way they could get all of the licenses they'd need.

Internet mogul Kim Dotcom and owner of the phoenix like, MEGA, the spiritual successor to Megaupload, has announced that he is stepping down as the company's director, in order to focus more on his impending extradition trial, which could potentially see him booted out of New Zealand and sent to the US to face copyright infringement charges.

Dotcom's replacement has already been found: Hong Kong based Bonnie Lam, though both MEGA board members Tony Lentino and Mathias Ortmann (the latter of whom is also facing potential extradition) will remain in their positions.

However, while Dotcom will no longer be directly in charge of affiliated with MEGA, he will still retain some measure of power in the organisation through his wife, who is the director of MrKimDotcom Ltd and director of MD Corporate Trustee Ltd, the biggest MEGA shareholder.

Commenting on Twitter in his usual fashion, Dotcom stated: “#Mega is in excellent hands. I resigned as Managing Director to focus on my copyright case & a new political party.” He also claimed to be continuing work on his oft-teased music service, Megabox.

KitGuru Says: I wonder if this will stop Dotcom giving out MEGA vouchers when he's beaten at COD by old men?

Rumours off the grapevine this morning indicate a big set of changes down at AMD, with the new Chief Sales Officer determined to put the company on the right track in the face of the toughest market conditions the chip specialists have ever faced. KitGuru stands around the mini-kitchenette and ponders who have a seat at the table come lunchtime.

So what do we know so far?

Well, Darren Grasby has been put in overall charge of EMEA and it now seems that Bertrand Coquard will be moving from his position as Channel Sales Director.

Getting the right person into the EMEA Sales Director role will be crucial for AMD in terms of hitting targets. The region is diverse, with small expensive markets sitting right next door to massive opportunities which could be a lot easier to exploit.

If you ignore graphics for a second, winning with channel sales means putting your processors and mainboards into resellers and high street stores. The big multi-national vendors are taken care of through a different route. Which brings you to the question, “Who would buy a processor and mainboard from an online store or specialist high street shop?”

Most of these customers will be enthusiasts, but there will also be a chunk of budget conscious customers who ‘want more than PC World/Media Markt etc can offer'. So, for AMD, that means selling 9xx series mainboards with overclockable FX processors to those i the know and APU (Fusion) products to those on a budget.

Right now, we'd argue that AMD has the wrong focus for FX processors. Highly overclockable, our tests have shown that if paired with a cost-effective mainboard, you can go after most of Intel's Core i3 and part of its Core i5 range with a great deal of confidence. But when you approach £250 for the CPU and mainboard, you enter Intel ‘K' territory and winning becomes much more difficult.

The person AMD brings into EMEA to drive sales forward for the next 3 years, needs to be smart enough to line the product stacks up properly. They need to be able to jab and move while looking for a win, then bring 100% conviction to the table when they have the advantage. Not easy. And all of this will need to be achieved under the incredible heat of a global media spotlight.

In the same way that top football teams appoint a ‘safe pair of hands' to look after teams and countries in the interim, AMD would seem to have handed the European Sales role to Andrew Buxton while they try to recruit ‘Mr Right'. Check KitGuru's coverage of Distree 2012 for shots of Buxton and one of the people likely to play a key role in the new regime, Neil Spicer.

As an ex-professional class rugby player, Darren Grasby is used to tough scrums.

KitGuru says: We all know that AMD can hold its own against nVidia in the graphics market, for while nVidia will have the lead for some of each year, AMD comes back into the frame with its own next-gen releases. The CPU market is much tougher. Winning market share from Intel in 2013, with low-powered Haswell's coming, will need something special in terms of deals & drive. The channel win, surely, must be in the APU zone.

While the Sandy Bridge/Cougar Point affair is still very much in the public domain, Intel is pushing ahead with its launch schedule unhindered. We're presently hearing that the launch for the new chips will be on a Sunday. Strange timing. KitGuru gives the specs a once over.

Searching Google for the correct page in Intel's Ark, seems to return an error. However, clicking on ‘cache' ensures that the original versions of the Intel second generation Core i3 processor specs do appear.

Steve Smith, in charge of delivering platforms, with a new Sandy Bridge chip

We can't be sure if that is a genuine server error, or if some fundamental changes have been made. Just in case, we've done the useful thing and grabbed a snapshot in all its weirdly highlighted glory. That said, clicking ‘compare' seemed to load up the right specification. Here's the compare screen, ever so slightly modified to get more on one page.

Intel's i3 530 processors offered stunning value, mainly due to their overclocking ability. What now for the OC?

Probably the single biggest shame with these new low-end chips, is the removal of ‘simple overclocking for everyone at affordable prices'.  Many a budget-limited enthusiast was able to buy a chip like the Core i3 530 and simply clock it up by way more than 1GHz. In the process, the performance characteristics changed completely and you were able to get some very powerful performance results.

Intel's new cheap chips are locked down tight. While we expect to see a ‘K' version of this bantamweight battler, the really cheap option for peak performance seems to have been taken off the table for good by Intel.

When Intel had the weakened P4 architecture and AMD was delivering on its Athlon/FX strategy, Intel's decision to lock down the processors proved to be a mistake. Tons of market share went AMD's way.

This time round, we're left asking “Are locked-down Intel processors really a mistake, and will AMD be able to capitalise again?”

KitGuru says: Now's the time for AMD to step up. Enthusiasts are a fickle bunch. While many do have strong preferences, many of those will go out of the windows if enhanced power arrives on the desktop in the form of a low-cost, highly overclockable AMD part. Should Intel be listening for the rumbling of Bulldozers (desktop power) and growling of Lynx (quad core Fusion APU) ?
