Divinity Original Sin 2 is one of the best RPGs of the generation, with Larian taking what was learned from the first game and improving in almost all areas. Recently, the game made its way over to the Nintendo Switch, granting the ability to take the game with you on the go. That's a nice bonus on its own but PC gamers get another very unique feature- you can share your save files between the PC and Switch versions.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is a lengthy RPG with multiple paths, character builds and choices to make along the way. With that in mind, you could easily end up clocking well over 100 hours of game time. Now, that time can be split up between systems, so you can make progress on your PC and then pick up the same save file again on the Nintendo Switch while commuting or chilling out away from your desk. Then when you're done, that progress can be transferred back.

To get the feature to work, you need to sign in to your Steam account via the Switch and from there, your save files will automatically sync between the two versions at the press of a button. There is one caveat though- you will need a vanilla save file free of mods. If you try to sync save files from a modded version of the game with the Switch, the console will request the mod files, which can't be downloaded to the system and the save will fail to load.

While that is an unfortunate caveat, it is still great to see cross-save functionality implemented so well. Perhaps in the future, systems like this will become more common.

KitGuru Says: I've dabbled in Divinity Original Sin 2 but the idea of being able to keep progress across PC and Switch has me wanting to pick it back up again. It is certainly an interesting perk to try and get some players to double-dip.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is one of the best RPGs currently available on the PC, offering great strategical gameplay, witty and well-written dialogue, and almost endless replay value. Larian Studios is now releasing a Definitive Edition of the game, which packs another 130,000 words of additional dialogue and tons of new content. Better yet, it will be a free upgrade for PC players.

In an update post on its Kickstarter page, Larian Studios set out describing the numerous changes that have been made to the game. Starting with the narrative, they have added 130,000 newly recording lines of dialogue, as well as retooling 150,000 existing ones. They have also reworked some of the character development and quests regarding the Origin Characters.

Larian Studios has also revamped the tutorial, making it a bit more comprehensive. An extra deck has been added to give some players additional time to get to grips with all of the different systems, and the tutorial messages have been reworked to make things clearer for new players.

In terms of combat, balancing changes have been made to smooth out the difficulty curve. New encounters and fights have also been added to the game. Finally, a ‘story mode' has been added to the game, creating an easier path through the game's quest line for those who don't want to worry about challenging combat. Difficulty levels can be adjusted in-game at any point in time too.

There are plenty of other changes also being implemented, but these are the major ones. Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition will be launching on the 31st of August- those who own the game already will get this as a free upgrade on PC.

KitGuru Says: You can’t fault Larian Studios. The team has gone from strength to strength since launching Divinity Original Sin, and this free upgrade to the sequel is another fantastic addition.  Will you be dipping back into Divinity: Original Sin 2 when the Definitive Edition releases?

The Kickstarter campaign for Divinity: Original Sin 2 is going very well indeed. Not only did the campaign receive its initial $500,000 goal within 24 hours but the first two stretch goals were hit before they were even announced. Since then, two more stretch goals have been hit, with the campaign currently sitting at $1,276,633 raised in total.

At the $1 million mark, campaign backers unlocked racial specific skills for the game and now at the $1.2 million mark, Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be receiving a new playable race: the undead.

Now the campaign just has two stretch goals left, with 22 days left to go for crowd funding. The next goal will be unlocked at the $1.35 million mark, and will see a new skill tree added in to the game. Finally at the $1.5 million mark, the hall of echoes will be put in to the game, which is a whole new playable area.

The campaign still has some steam left in it so it may end up hitting the final goal. Right now, we don't know if further stretch goals are planned should all of the current ones be hit. If you were thinking of backing the game, then Larian Studios has summed up all of its stretch goals in a detailed update post on the Kickstarter page.

KitGuru Says: The Divinity: Original Sin 2 Kickstarter seems to be going very well, which isn't too surprising considering the great reviews that the first game got. Did any of you play the first game?

Divinity Original Sin 2 is crushing it on Kickstarter right now. Not only did the game manage to hit its $500,000 funding goal within the first 24 hours, but now the campaign has managed to hit the first two stretch goals, which were just announced.

Larian Studios announced its Divinity Original Sin 2 stretch goals yesterday, covering funding points from $700,000 all of the way up to $1.5 million. Right now, the campaign funding is sitting at around $927,000 raised, so the campaign is just shy of hitting its third stretch goal.

At $700,000, a new strategy mode will be added in to the game. At $850,000 we get a new skill tree then when the campaign hits $1,000,000 we will be getting different skills depending on character race.

Should the campaign hit $1.2 million, then Divinity Original Sin 2 will be getting new origin stories to choose from, which are going to play a big role in the new game. At $1.35 million a second skill tree will be added in for more variety in character builds.

The final stretch goal comes in at the $1.5 million mark and will add what is called ‘the hall of echoes' in to the game. This is basically a portal through to the spirit world.

What is nice about these stretch goals, is that Larian has given each one an in-depth explanation on a new Kickstarter update, so we actually know how these new funding goals will affect the game. There are plenty of campaigns out there that fail to do this properly, with the most recent example being Shenmue 3.

KitGuru Says: I am really looking forward to Divinity Original Sin 2, though I do tend to stay away from crowd funding campaigns. That said, Larian Studios seems to be going about their's the right way and it is paying off nicely. We may even see all of the stretch goals hit before the campaign ends.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the sequel to the 2014 RPG, which went on to be a pretty big hit after being crowd-funded the year prior. Before the sequel comes out, there will be a ‘Enhanced Edition' of the first game, which will be free for owners of the initial game and will also release on the Xbox One and PS4.

Larian Studios, the team behind the game were surprised at how fast the Kickstarter for Original Sin 2 took off and right now things don't seem to be slowing down. Things may even pick up further as a playable build will be available at PAX this week.

On top of that, YouTubers and gaming sites are starting to get their hands on the game, giving us an early look at the improvements and future plans for Divinity: Original Sin 2. You can find the Kickstarter campaign, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Divinity: Original Sin was a very deep RPG so it will be great to see how Larian Studios takes that further with the sequel. Did any of you play Divinity: Original Sin? Is there anything you'd like to see improved in the sequel?
