We seem to be learning more about Fallout 4 by the week as we get closer and closer to launch. While Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas had fairly unexceptional gun-play, Bethesda has taken a different approach with Fallout 4 and brought Doom developer, id Software, in on the project early on to help build the shooting mechanics.

Todd Howard noted id Software's involvement in a video that was published on Bethesda's YouTube this week. In the video, Fallout 4's director says: “If you were to pick it up and play Fallout 4, it does feel like a modern shooter. I won't say anything bad about Fallout 3, but we wanted to not make any excuses for how the action felt in a role-playing game. We feel we can layer all of the role-playing and stat systems on top of that.”

“So the guns feel great. We have aim down sights, you can play in first and third-person, and then we have the V.A.T.S system. Since id Software is part of our company, the first thing we did was call them. We said ‘alright, we're going to do this from scratch, give us some tips.”

Fallout 4 lands on the 10th of November for the PC, Xbox One and PS4. There will be a $30 season pass, though Bethesda has all hands on deck to finish the base game for now so the first DLC hasn't been officially mapped out. In the lead up to the game's release, Bethesda is also releasing a series of videos going over the stats in the S.P.E.C.I.A.L system, the video going over Perception was released today, while Strength was gone over last week.

KitGuru Says: Since id Software and Bethesda have close ties already, it makes sense for them to be brought in to work on the gun play for Fallout 4. What do you guys think of this? Are you looking forward to the game?
