It is the first Thursday of the month and Nvidia has now unveiled its plans for GeForce Now in December. This month, 22 more games will be added to the library, but beyond that, Nvidia also has a new Game Ready driver rolling out as more DLSS-supported titles are hitting the market.

For starters, there are five games getting DLSS 3 this month, including Need for Speed Unbound, Warhammer 40K Darktide, Portal RTX, Jurassic World Evolution 2 and of course, The Witcher 3, which is getting its ‘next gen' update on the 8th of December. There are also four more games implementing DLSS 2 this month – Firefighting Simulator, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Choo-Choo Charles and Blacktail. If you are planning on playing any of these games, you'll want the latest Nvidia Game Ready driver, which has rolled out today and can be downloaded through the GeForce Experience.

As for GeForce Now, the cloud gaming service will get 22 more games over the course of December. Six of those games are arriving today, including:

  • The Knight Witch (New release on Steam, Nov. 29)
  • Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (New Release on Steam, Nov. 30)
  • Fort Triumph (Free on Epic Games Store, Dec. 1-8)
  • Battlefield 2042 (Steam and Origin)
  • Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop (Steam)
  • Stormworks: Build and Rescue (Steam)

Later in the month, we can expect another wave of titles, including the likes of Marvel's Midnight Suns, Samurai Maiden, Wavetale, Brawlhalla, Ixion, Chained Echoes and more.

We've had a couple of big game releases recently and a couple more heading our way in the next few days, which means it is time for another GPU driver update. This week, the latest GeForce Game Ready driver has dropped, delivering optimisations and support for Valorant, which is leaving beta soon, as well as Minecraft Dungeons, Disintegration and Crucible.

Valorant as you all likely know is Riot's competitive shooter. It has been huge, with millions taking part in the beta over the last couple of months and millions more watching streams of the game. The latest driver ensures Nvidia GeForce GPU users will have smooth performance on day-one of the official launch.

Minecraft Dungeons is a new spin-off from Mojang, condensing the world of Minecraft into a dungeon crawling, Diablo-like format. Meanwhile, Disintegration is a new Sci-Fi strategy/shooter crossover from the co-creator of Halo. Crucible is another recent release, coming from Amazon Game Studios and combining competitive shooting with MOBA mechanics.

Games aren't the only big part of this update though. The new driver also supports the Windows 10 May 2020 update, as well as the DirectX 12 Ultimate API, which will be used for next-gen ray-traced games.

You can find more information and download the driver from Nvidia, HERE or via the GeForce Experience application on your PC.

KitGuru Says: I'll be hopping back into Valorant at launch to see how things have come along since the first few weeks of beta. Are any of you planning on picking up one of the new games coming out in the next week?

It is time for another GeForce driver update, although Game Ready support for several games isn’t the only headline this time around. Beyond that, the latest update adds support for more G-Sync Compatible displays and new feature improvements.

The big game getting additional driver optimisation this week is Metro Exodus: Sam Story, a new expansion to the game complete with ray-traced global illumination, emissive lighting and DLSS support. Zombie Army: Dead War 4 and Apex Legends Season 4 also get some driver-level optimisations.

As for G-Sync Compatible Displays, three more FreeSync monitors join the list- the ASUS VG259QM, Dell AW2521HF, and LG 34GN850.

Last month, Nvidia released a rather big driver feature update, adding Variable Rate Supersampling and Max Frame Rate features to the control panel. Now, both of these features are being improved based on user feedback. In the case of Max Frame Rate, you can now set the FPS range between 20 frames per second and 1000 frames per second. In the case of VRSS, you can enable the feature in the control panel’s Global tab, automatically enabling the feature for all supported VR games.

We've already covered Nvidia's CES 2020 announcements for content creators but now, we get to turn our attention to the gaming side of things. Today, the latest GeForce ‘Game Ready' driver dropped, packing in support for ray-tracing in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, as well as support for 17 new ‘G-Sync Compatible' displays and new Control Panel features, like improved Image Sharpening, Variable Rate Supersampling and driver-level frame rate caps.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood was packaged with RTX GPUs over the summer of 2019 but the game's long-awaited ray-tracing update has been missing. That is changing this week, with the game getting a large update that adds ray-tracing, DLSS and support for NVIDIA Highlights. Quake II RTX is also getting a 1.3 update, adding in a new photo mode for custom screenshots.

This latest driver also boosts the number of G-Sync Compatible displays up to 90, adding in new options from Acer, ASUS, Dell, LG and Viewsonic. You can see the full list in our rundown of G-Sync Compatible displays, HERE.

Finally, today's release also adds some new features to the NVIDIA control panel, including a Max Frame Rate option for setting your own custom FPS cap. The Image Sharpening option has also been improved, allowing GPU scaling and sharpening to be toggled independently of each other, you can also add custom resolutions.

Nvidia introduced Variable Rate Shading alongside the Turing architecture in late 2018 and now, that technology is being used to improve VR games. Variable Rate Supersampling uses VRS to dynamically apply up to 8x supersampling to the centre of a VR headset display, giving sharper images directly where your eye is focused. VRSS is applied when GPU headroom is available, so you won't suddenly tank performance and have a less smooth VR experience.

This has benefits over traditional VR supersampling, which applies higher resolution to the full image. For instance, Boneworks with 4x super sampling drops frame rate closer to the 60fps range on an RTX 2080Ti, while 4x VRSS enables a 120fps experience. Currently, 20 VR games support VRSS, including Boneworks, Pavlov, Robo Recall, Job Simulator, Lone Echo and more. More games will be tested for support and added to the list in future driver updates.

The GeForce Game Ready 441.87 driver is available to download now, either directly through Nvidia or via the GeForce Experience.

KitGuru Says: I've been holding off on playing Wolfenstein: Youngblood until the RTX patch, so I'm looking forward to finally giving it a proper go. There are plenty of other things to like about this driver though, particularly the inclusion of several new Control Panel features. Have any of you installed Nvidia's new driver yet? Earlier this week, Nvidia began rolling out a new GeForce driver with optimisations for this weekend's big game releases- The Outer Worlds and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Now, those equipped with a Radeon GPU also have a day-one driver available to install, which should grant some notable performance boosts.

Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.10.2 is now available. RX 5700 XT owners in particular will benefit from this one, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare getting an 18% performance boost compared to driver version 19.10.1 while running at ultra settings. For The Outer Worlds, RX 5700 XT owners can expect an 8% performance gain with the new driver compared to the previous one.

This driver also has optimisations in place for Chernobylite, an early access single-player game with sci-fi and survival horror themes.

As usual, the driver release notes come with a list of fixed issues. Those experiencing a blank screen bug when launching League of Legends should no longer have this problem. Radeon Chill no longer creates an incorrect registry entry when enabled or disabled, Borderlands 3 should also no longer freeze up when changing resolutions or after running the in-game benchmark.

Flicker while watching media files through the Windows Movies & TV application on a USB Type-C display should be fixed. Finally, Radeon RX Vega and RX 5700 series GPUs should no longer experience a thread stuck crash or TDR during high GPU load.

Some issues do remain though, including character models not always rendering correctly in the inventory screen on The Outer Worlds. RX 5700 GPU users may experience stutter while playing a game at 1080p with low settings. AMD's performance metrics overlay can cause stutter or screen flashes when used in some applications and toggling HDR can cause system instability while playing a game with ReLive enabled. The final two known issues include stutter on FreeSync displays while running at 240Hz with a Radeon RX 5700 series GPU and the AMD Radeon VII will sometimes have elevated memory clock speeds while the PC is idle. Hopefully most of these will be tackled in the next driver update.

If you are using an AMD Radeon graphics card, then you can find the new 19.10.2 driver for download, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Two huge games landed today. I'll be diving into The Outer Worlds myself but I am interested in checking out the Modern Warfare campaign at some point. Are any of you picking up one of the new releases this weekend? Have you experienced any issues with the latest driver update so far?

If you are a virtual reality fan, then you likely have your eyes peeled for tomorrow's launch of DOOM VFR on Steam. If you are planning to jump into Bethesda's first PC VR game, then both AMD and Nvidia have you covered with GPU driver updates.

Let's start off with AMD's update. Radeon Software ReLive Edition 17.11.4 is the latest version, bringing support for the Oculus Dash Open Beta, as well as Doom VFR for the best day-one experience. Aside from that, AMD's driver update fixes a few issues. For starters, Star Wars Battlefront II should no longer ‘hang' when switching display modes with Crossfire enabled. An issue where incorrect clock speeds and power values on RX Vega GPUs should also be fixed.

There are some known problems listed that AMD's driver team still needs to iron out. Some desktop productivity apps may experience latency when dragging or moving windows. This is something that I have also experienced while using an Nvidia GPU and Microsoft Excel this week.

AMD users may also experience an application hang during Rise of the Tomb Raider, and a hang when breaching walls with explosives in Rainbow Six Siege. You can download the latest version of Radeon Software, HERE.

On the Nvidia side, the latest driver version is 388.43, which is a Game Ready driver for DOOM VFR. If you are planning on playing this game, then the minimum system requirements call for an Intel Core i5-4590/AMD FX-8350, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 1070. The recommended requirements call for a Core i7-6700K/Ryzen 5 1600X, 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1080 or better.

You can download the latest Nvidia driver version through the GeForce Experience app.

KitGuru Says: Posts like this do make me wish that Nvidia would also be upfront about any ‘known issues' with a new driver version. AMD tends to be very consistent with it. Will any of you be playing Doom VFR over the weekend? I'm tempted to try it out, though I am still unsure if it will work with my Oculus Rift.

April might be quieter on blockbuster releases but there are still quite a few interesting games coming out. Dawn of War 3 is launching, Batman: Arkham VR is finally landing on PC, meanwhile games like Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality and Wilson's Heart flesh out April's offerings. As with most PC game launches, this also means that it is time for GPU driver updates, with Nvidia today rolling out its latest Game Ready driver.

The latest Game Ready driver will prepare GeForce graphics card users for the upcoming Heroes of the Storm 2.0 update, was well as the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3. For virtual reality fans, this should stabilise performance in Batman: Arkham VR, Wilson's Heart and the Rick and Morty game.

Driver version 381.89 is WHQL certified and should be readily available via the GeForce Experience app. Importantly, the additional optimisation for Heroes of the Storm shows Nvidia's willingness to revisit and continuously support online games when major updates land, ensuring support for the long-term.

Aside from this driver update, earlier today Nvidia also announced that it would be bundling three VR games with its GPUs, including the highly rated SUPERHOT VR, Wilson's Heart and The Unspoken.

KitGuru Says: If you are planning on picking up Dawn of War 3 this week, then make sure you grab the latest drivers for peak performance.

With the launch of Radeon Software Crimson Edition, AMD embarked on a mission to deliver monthly driver updates to Radeon GPU users and this week, we got our July update. Radeon Software version 16.7.3 brings along a nice list of fixes and a sizeable performance boost in Rise of the Tomb Raider for RX 480 users.

For CrossFire users, you will be happy to hear that there are several fixes on offer in this update. For starters, crashing in Overwatch should now be resolved as well as instances of flickering in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Dirt Rally has had its terrain flickering issue fixed and those running CrossFire and a FreeSync display should hopefully see less issues when trying to launch of exit a game.

8wag2KG-768x432

Single GPU users have some fixes too. Texture corruption in Total War: Warhammer should be fixed on affected configurations and corruption issues with Hitman DirectX 12 should also be fixed. Shadows in Dota 2 while running the Vulkan API should be addressed, along with texture issues found in the OpenGL version of DOOM on eyefinity setups.

As Anandtech points out, for general performance improvements, you can expect to see a ten percent bump in Rise of the Tomb Raider at 1080p if you happen to own an RX 480. You can find the latest version of Radeon Software Crimson Edition, HERE.

Ever since launching Radeon Software late last year, AMD has recommitted itself to driver support with big monthly updates. Today, AMD released Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.2, which brings some performance boosts to titles like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Ashes of Singularity, which is currently an excellent benchmarking tool for DirectX 12.

The first major highlight for this driver is optimizations for the Ashes of Singularity 2.0 benchmark, which evaluates performance with  DirectX 12. This update is also optimized a bit better for virtual reality content, allowing the R9 390, R9 Nano and Fury graphics cards to score as high as they should on the SteamVR Performance Test tool that launched this week.

AMD-Crsytal-Sseries

Those of you still playing Rise of the Tomb Raider on the PC should now see some performance and stability improvements while those playing XCOM 2 or are planning on grabbing The Division now have CrossFire profiles for multi-GPU users.

Aside from that, the changelog lists a bunch of fixes for things like flickering and stutter in a range of games including Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider and World of Warcraft. However, there are still some known issues, those using an AMD Radeon 59xx or 79xx dual-GPU card may find themselves unable to activate CrossFire at all, Core clock speeds on some graphics cards may not be consistent while playing games and Rise of the Tomb Raider may randomly crash with Tesselation enabled.

You can find the full list of details, HERE.

KitGuru Says: If you're running a Radeon graphics card right now, then let us know how you get on with the new driver.

Nvidia has gone ahead and launched the new GeForce Game Ready 361.91 WHQL driver for Street Fighter V this week. The new driver is available to download via the GeForce Experience software and contains new optimizations for Arma 3, the Hitman Beta, Monster Hunter Online as well as Street Fighter V, which officially launched today.

Those wanting to play Street Fighter V at 60 frames per second will want to ensure that their system meets the recommended requirements, which include an Intel Core i5-4690K, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 960 graphics card.

Aside from that, this new driver will get your gaming rig primed for an upcoming Arma 3 update, the Hitman Beta that takes place this weekend as well as the open beta for Monster Hunter Online though that particular game is limited to Asia at this time. Some more tweaks have also been added for The Division, which will apparently soon come bundled with Nvidia graphics cards.

KitGuru Says: If you are planning on playing Street Fighter V, Hitman or The Division this weekend then now would be a good time to update your drivers. Have any of you bought Street Fighter V already?

Following on from the game's initial release last Friday, AMD has launched a new Radeon Software driver update to bring some specific optimizations for the game as well as a CrossFire profile for mutli-GPU users. Rise of the Tomb Raider is a Nvidia-backed title, so the green team managed to get its own ‘Game Ready' driver update a bit faster in time for launch day though users did report issues with the SLI profile.

We already did our own game analysis of Rise of the Tomb Raider, featuring graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia and in general, the game performs quite well on modern hardware. However, AMD users may find that this driver helps them a bit.

The driver is known as the Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.1.1 update and right now, there are two known issues listed in the driver notes for Rise of the Tomb Raider, in which users may face flickering in some game locations when the game is left idle with CrossFire switched on. The game may also crash when launched with very high settings, SMAA and the resolution set to 4K.

If you're running an AMD card, you can find the driver update, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I found Rise of the Tomb Raider to be quite the performer, I also happen to think that it is the best looking game available on the PC right now so keep that in mind when trying to run it. Have any of you tried Rise of the Tomb Raider yet? How is it running for you? I know some have had issues with SLI, so I'd be interested to hear what the CrossFire experience is like.

CD Projekt Red's latest masterpiece, The Witcher 3, finally launches at midnight here in the UK. If you are playing it on the PC, then now is a good time to update your GPU drivers, Nvidia has gone ahead and prepared a ‘Game Ready' driver for The Witcher 3.

This will optimize GeForce graphics cards for the GameWorks suite of graphical enhancements, including HairWorks, which like TressFX from AMD, brings realistic hair to the game. You can see the various enhancements at work in a video below:

The new driver will also add in an SLI profile so those of you using multiple graphics cards in your machines can make the most of it. AMD users can apparently expect a new driver some time this week.

Chances are if you are an Nvidia user, you have the GeForce Experience tool, so you can download and install the driver through that. You can also find the drivers directly, HERE.

Grand Theft Auto V for the PC will unlock in just a few hours time but there are some things you should do while you wait- like ensuring you have the latest driver updates for your graphics card. Nvidia has just launched its latest ‘Game Ready' driver update in preparation for Grand Theft Auto V.

This update adds in SLI support, for those of you making use of multiple graphics cards. It also adds in a 3D Vision profile if you happen to game on a 3D monitor, this particular profile is rated ‘Excellent', so you shouldn't have any issues.

While GTA V is the highlight for this driver, it also adds in some improvements for other games. Project Cars, Assassin's Creed Rogue, Oddworld: New and Tasty all have new SLI profiles, even Victor Vran has an SLI profile now, which is surprising considering that the game is currently in Early Access on Steam.

This latest driver update should help Nvidia users get the best day one performance they can from Grand Theft Auto V. You can download the driver update manually, HERE. Alternatively, you can update your drivers through the GeForce Experience.

AMD has also launched their updated GPU driver, featuring a CrossFire profile for Grand Theft Auto V. You can download the AMD Driver update, HERE.

We have two very high-profile releases launching today, Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition so to mark the occasion, Nvidia and AMD have launched new graphics drivers to help ensure that gamers can get as much performance as possible on day one.

First up lets talk about AMD's Catalyst 14.11.2 beta driver. This update promises peak performance in Dragon Age and Far Cry with the latter receiving a 50 per cent performance boost in single GPU scenarios with Anti-Aliasing enabled. Dragon Age on the other hand gets a 5 per cent performance boost under the same conditions. Crossfire support has been added to Dragon Age but unfortunately, Far Cry 4 is having some issues:

“The AMD Crossfire profile for Far Cry 4 is currently disabled in this driver while AMD works with Ubisoft to investigate an issue where AMD Crossfire configurations are not performing as intended. An update is expected on this issue in the near future through an updated game patch or an AMD driver posting.”

Moving on to Nvidia's 344.75 driver update, which unlike the Catalyst beta, bears Microsoft's WHQL certification. This driver adds optimizations for Far Cry 4, Dragon Age Inquisition, World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor and even The Crew, which isn't due out for another couple of weeks.

We don't know exactly what kind of performance boost this driver will bring to those games but there is an SLI profile for Far Cry 4.
