Back in late 2022, Phanteks launched a trio of G500A cases. Now, Phanteks is upgrading its G300 cases with the new Eclipse G300A, available in two flavours, one with a solid front panel and another with a full mesh front panel for improved airflow.

The G300A chassis is a refined version of the older P300A. The newer model includes improved cooling and fan support and a more modern finish.

On the cooling front, the Eclipse G300A has been reconfigured to allow for up to a 360mm radiator in the front, and up to a 240mm radiator in the roof of the case. Overall, the case can support up to six 120mm fans and if you do go down the liquid cooling route, there is an additional 30mm of clearance space for radiators, so your fans won't be starved for airflow.

The chassis supports ATX motherboards, CPU coolers up to 162mm tall and GPUs up to 390mm long. The top panel has a USB 3.0 Type-A port, a USB 3.0 Type-C port, as well as the usual power/reset buttons and audio jacks.

The Phanteks Eclipse G300A makes an ideal choice for those on a tighter budget, with prices starting at just £54.95 for the standard version and £64.99 for the mesh version with D-RGB fans.

Our CES 2023 coverage continues today with Leo swinging by the Phanteks booth. As you would expect, the company has plenty of new hardware in store for us in 2023, from new cooling gear to cases and ATX 3.0 power supplies.

Watch via YouTube below:

Video Timestamps:

  • 00:00 Intro
  • 00:10 Shift XT panel / Revolt SFX PSU
  • 00:55 Glacier series hardware
  • 01:53 M25 fans and air coolers
  • 02:43 Glacier AIO coolers
  • 04:05 Pro two case
  • 04:53 Revamped cases
  • 05:38 Pretty build
  • 05:52 D30 fans
  • 07:04 NV7 Case
  • 11:38 Close out

First up on our list we have the new Phanteks Shift XT, which can now fit an optional (sold separately) QHD display in the front panel of the case. While the display is high resolution, it is also quite small,  but it could be handy for displaying custom images or hardware monitoring tools if you need to keep an eye on system temperatures.

While the Shift XT is interesting, Phanteks has something even bigger up its sleeve with the new NV7 chassis. This case has been designed from the ground up to highlight system components, using a strong, defining outer frame that accentuates the hardware inside. It is a really clean-looking case that would be perfect for those who put a lot of effort into aesthetics while building a system.

We also have the new Eclipse G300A, which is a smaller case but thanks to its mesh front panel, you'll still be able to get plenty of cooling for high-end components.

Phanteks is also debuting its new Revolt SFX 850 Platinum PSU, which is ATX 3.0 compliant, making them ready for new generation graphics cards like the RTX 40 series.

On the cooling front, Phanteks has a bunch on display at CES this year, including a new range of Phanteks Polar Air Coolers, with 4 & 5 heatpipe designs in single and dual-tower heatsink options too. There are also two new Glacier One T30 AIO liquid coolers, available in 240mm and 360mm radiator configurations, with the new Asetek Gen8 pump and an RGB-lit CPU block. The new radiators are thicker than the previous generation and the new T30 fans deliver high air pressure to move air through the radiator at up to 3000RPM.

If you are looking to upgrade your case fans, the new D30-120 fans can be chained together for easy installation and they also offer smooth RGB lighting throughout the fan blades. Once all put together and set up, they look very clean and might be some of the nicest RGB fans on the market.

There's also new custom liquid cooling gear, including new Glacier water blocks for new-gen graphics cards, a new Glacier R260 pump/reservoir combo with a D5 pump inside, and a new C370 CPU block with PLA material, allowing for diffused RGB lighting through the block.

Quantic Dream is not known for developing games in a rapid fashion, but even so, their next project is seemingly going to take longer than even the developers themselves expected. According to industry insiders, Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse may not launch until 2028 due to the studio’s inability to attract new developers.

Quantic Dream has become a rather controversial studio in recent years. The French studio – known for developing Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit Become Human – came under fire from local media following an investigation which suggested that the studio suffered from “a toxic corporate culture, management with inappropriate words and attitudes, under-considered employees, overwhelming workloads and questionable contractual practices.”

Despite them since announcing that they are working on a Star Wars title, the studio has reportedly struggled to attract much talent to the studio. According to industry insider Tom Henderson (via xfire), “even though the [Star Wars Eclipse] trailer was released to an extremely favourable reception from the wider gaming community it has not had the desired effect of attracting developer talent to the studio.”

This inability to attract talent, in combination with the studio’s tendency to take longer than most to develop their games, has now meant that Star Wars Eclipse is internally scheduled to release sometime in either 2027 or 2028. If this is indeed the case, then Quantic Dream will be going nearly a full decade between game releases.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Quantic Dream’s predicament? Is a 10 year development cycle sustainable? Are you excited for Star Wars Eclipse? Let us know down below.

At The Game Awards this month, Quantic Dream officially unveiled its Star Wars game, promising an ‘intricately branching’ narrative and plenty of lightsaber-swinging action. While the game was swiftly announced after obtaining the Star Wars license, development is still very early on and unfortunately, there are already plenty of signs of trouble with this project.

Quantic Dream obtained a license to develop a Star Wars game in early 2021. We now know that game as Star Wars Eclipse, set during the new ‘High Republic’ era and spanning multiple planets with a story focused on a pair of Jedi Knights.

According to Tom Henderson, a leaker with a good track record over the past couple of years, the game is being written at Quantic Dream’s Paris studio, with controversial director, David Cage, “very much involved”. The game itself is still very early and is believed to be at least 3 to 4 years away at minimum, so it could be 2025 before we finally get to play this game.

In a video update, Henderson added some more details, with sources saying that QD's new ‘open world' engine is causing problems for developers, and there are also issues integrating multiplayer components to the game. While the project has been in development for 18 months already, there is still no playable version.

Another concern appears to be that Quantic Dream Paris is apparently struggling to hire new staff, which could very well be down to previous reports of a poor internal culture at the studio, which include allegations of harassment and discriminatory behaviour.

Currently, there are over 60 job openings at Quantic Dream Paris, who will need to work with QD’s internal proprietary engine and tools, rather than a more well-documented engine like Unreal.

KitGuru Says: Star Wars Eclipse sounds promising but it sounds like QD has quite the task ahead between getting tools and the engine working properly, while also creating content and getting the game into a playable state.

Earlier this year, Quantic Dream revealed that it is now working on a Star Wars game as its next major project. Over the following months, more sources have revealed new information about this game, with the latest reports claiming that it is called “Star Wars: Eclipse” and will be set during the ‘High Republic' era.

Speaking on the latest episode of GrubbSnax for Giant Bomb, Jeff Grubb shared that Quantic Dream's Star Wars game will be “ready to be announced soon”, adding that we may see it unveiled before the end of this year. With The Game Awards coming up in December, it is possible that Quantic Dream makes an appearance.

The game itself is said to be called Star Wars: Eclipse and should be set during the High Republic era. This era of Star Wars is set a few hundred years before the films, rather than being set thousands of years prior, as we saw with the Old Republic.

Disney has been making a push to expand on the High Republic era of Star Wars in recent years with cross-media projects like books and comics. Now it would seem that games are joining that list and who knows, perhaps the next major Star Wars film, or an upcoming TV series, will expand on this part of the timeline even further.

KitGuru Says: It has been years since Quantic Dream's last game, so it makes sense that this new project might be closer to announcement than first expected. We'll have to keep an eye on The Game Awards next month to see if it does get revealed. If not, then we'll likely be waiting for Star Wars Day in May, or E3 in June.

Today, Phanteks is launching a new chassis for the budget-conscious PC building crowd. The Eclipse P360A launches today, including a tempered glass window, two RGB fans with PWM control and a sleek mesh metal front panel for high airflow.

The Phanteks Ultra-Fine Performance Mesh front panel comes with 1mm perforations, balancing airflow with dust filtration. The Eclipse P360A also includes two 120mm D-RGB PWM fans right out of the box.

Importantly, the P360A is confirmed to be compatible with RTX 30 series graphics cards and an optional bracket is included, so you can choose between horizontal or vertical GPU mounting. You can also expect plenty of room for 240mm or 280mm liquid cooling radiators and additional SSDs and HDDs.

Our very own Leo Waldock has already taken a good hard look at the Phanteks Eclipse P360A for review, giving it our ‘MUST HAVE' award. If you are interested in what you can do with this case and whether it is worth the £64 price tag, then do check out our full review HERE.

In the UK, you'll be able to buy the Eclipse P360A from Overclockers UK for £63.95. Currently, stock is expected to arrive on the 14th of October.

KitGuru Says: The Phanteks P360A chassis looks like a winner in the sub £80 price bracket. Are many of you currently shopping around for a new case at the moment?

Computex is just a couple of weeks away, but we are getting a few good announcements ahead of time. This week, Phanteks launched its latest case, the Eclipse P350X RGB, complete with support for E-ATX motherboards, liquid cooling support and some of the sleekest RGB lighting I've seen on a case to date.

The Phanteks Eclipse P350X is a fairly compact case, measuring in at 200 x 450 x 455mm, but that hasn't hindered features at all. There is a full length PSU shroud, support for up to E-ATX motherboards, seven expansion slots and support for GPUs up to 400mm long. On the water cooling front, the case can fit one 240 or 280mm radiator in the front, and an additional 120mm in the rear. You could potentially fit one in the roof, though it would be a tight squeeze depending on the motherboard.

You can see images of the case in the gallery below.

Do note that if you are using an Adblocker, then the images above may not appear correctly for you. This has been known to interfere with our gallery tool.

In terms of drive bays, there are five tool-free bays in total, three for 2.5″ drives and two for 3.5″ drives. The front I/O panel includes a power button, two controllers for the RGB lights, two USB 3.0 ports and two audio ports.

The Phanteks Eclipse P350X RGB isn't an expensive case either, launching for £64.99 at OverclockersUK. Hopefully we'll get the chance to check it out at Computex, and eventually bring out a review for you all.

KitGuru Says: I generally like Phanteks' cases quite a bit. In fact, I use the Enthoo Evolv ATX for my gaming PC and have plenty of good things to say about it- though I do suddenly wish that it had the same RGB lighting as the P350X. Are any of you currently planning to build a new PC? Are you considering getting a Phanteks case?

Solar eclipses are probably not something that most of us humans have been scared of in a very long time, thanks to science and reasoning, but soon there may actually be a reason to be at least a little nervous. With our increasing dependence on energy drawn from the Sun in Europe, a morning solar eclipse could deprive us of 35,000 MW of solar energy.

While getting this energy and saving the planet at the same time is fantastic, when the Sun is gradually blocked from view across Europe on the 20th of March, this will cause the equivalent of nearly 80 medium size conventional generation units to fade out and then fade back on. European transmission system operators (TSOs) have been aware of this and have been working to evaluate and mitigate the risk for the last few years due to the fact that we can accurately predict events like this.
Solar-map-Europe
The European network of TSOs for electricity said, “Managing this event on the world's largest interconnected grid is an unprecedented challenge for European TSOs. Solar eclipses have happened before but with the increase of installed photovoltaic energy generation, the risk of an incident could be serious”

You may wonder why this is a problem when the Sun normally rises and sets every day. In this case the solar eclipse will occur much faster than the sun setting and rising, with the whole event lasting only a couple of minutes as it passes each area. This is like having 2 sunrises and two sunsets in the same day and having sun go down, right as it's needed during the mid-morning.

Also the fact that solar power covered 0.1% of all the electricity produced in Europe from renewable energy sources in 2002, but now this figure has risen to 10.5%, with Solar being at least 3% of total supply across the EU. As well as this the EU power network is the world's largest interconnected grid, so any fluctuations could affect countries that are not even reliant on solar. However countries like Cyprus and Malta which generate 62% and 36% respectively of their renewable energy from the Sun, will have to rely on others to provide them with power while the Moon does a good job of keeping us in the dark.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Why are you doing this to us Moon? No more blocking the Sunlight or we will send some of us up there to stamp on your face, again! Get Buzz on the phone! (You might want to switch off your PC to be safe and get outside to see this solar eclipse.)

Today we are going to take a look at the latest set of speakers from Edifier, dubbed the Luna Eclipse e25. Previous Edifier reviews have highlighted high build standards and excellent sound quality so we are interested to see how the Eclipse e25 compares.

Edifier has designed the Luna Eclipse e25 for design-conscious users looking for a high quality pair of stereo speakers. While Edifier say that they are the perfect companions for a desktop PC, we could argue that they are even better for a user with a laptop, thanks to their wireless connectivity.

The speakers are available in both gloss-red and gloss black finishes. Our sample is finished in gloss-black which we imagine will be the most popular flavour.
