EIZO has announced its first ultrawide curved monitor. Named FlexScan EV3895, this monitor was designed to “reflect the needs and workstyles of professionals working in trading rooms, home trading stations, and back offices” by offering a wide curved screen that increases the user productivity with multiple practical features.

The 37.5-inch IPS panel features a 3840x1600p resolution (24:10 aspect ratio), 5ms G2G response time, 60Hz refresh rate, and wide viewing angles of 178°(H)/178°(V). The 1000:1 contrast ratio and the 300nits of brightness allow the 8-bit panel to cover 94% of the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut and 100% of the sRGB colour gamut.

The vast screen area allows you to “freely arrange multiple applications” to your liking without the need of multi-monitor setups. Thanks to its PbyP (Picture-by-Picture) function and six PbyP presets, this monitor can display three different video signals at the same time with different layout organisations. Additionally, you can also use the same keyboard and mouse by connecting them to the monitor and change between the different sources using the USB selection function.

Input terminals include a USB-C 3.1 port (DP alt. mode), a DisplayPort, and 2x HDMI ports. There's also 2x USB-B 3.1 upstream ports, 4x USB-A downstream ports, and an RJ-45 port. The monitor includes a pair of 1W speakers and a stereo mini-jack. The stand allows you to adjust the monitor's height by an impressive 192.7mm, tilt it from -5º to 35º, and swivel it ±70º, but you can also use a VESA 100x100mm mounting bracket to further improve ergonomics.

The EIZO FlexScan EV3895 will be available in November, in both black and white colour, but pricing is still unknown. You can learn more about this monitor HERE.

EIZO has announced the introduction of a new ColorEdge CS2740 monitor designed for photographers and videographers to accurately display images of true to life colour and sharpness with consistent results via hardware calibration.

The new EIZO ColorEdge CS2740 monitor features an ultra-sharp 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution display that is measured and optimally configured from the factory to ensure accurate true to life image reproduction for professional photo and video image editing scenarios. The factory configuration process removes differences in brightness and partial unnecessary colours to accurately display what the camera has saved.

A hardware calibration process that can complete in 90 seconds, consistently retains pre-set factory settings to ensure the monitor provides image perfection throughout its entire life cycle. The EIZO CS2740 covers traditional gamuts such as 99% Adobe RGB with a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and typical brightness of 350 cd/m2.

Thanks to four downstream USB and a single USB Type-C upstream port, a range of USB peripherals such as keyboards, mice and external HDDs can be connected directly to the monitor. Users can then connect a laptop to the device to display content on the screen while providing 60W power to charge the laptop or notebook. The EIZO ColorEdge CS2740 also includes HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity for connecting to a range of other devices.

The EIZO ColorNavigator 7 hardware calibration software can be downloaded from the EIZO website and combined with the EIZO EX4 calibration sensor, the monitor can be hardware calibrated in 90 seconds. An optional CH2700 light protection shield can also be purchase separately and is simply attached to the monitor magnetically.

EIZO was planning on showcasing the monitor this weekend, during The Photography Show at the Birmingham NEC. However, since the show has been cancelled, EIZO has confirmed it will be on the company’s stand at the rescheduled event in September.

EIZO has announced the release of the world’s first true HDR reference monitor featuring a built-in calibration sensor with a 31.1-inch DCI-4K HDR panel to provide professional colour grading, ideal for professional post-production and colour grading workflows.

The ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 from EIZO is the successor to its previous HDR reference monitor the CG3145 and is the first of its kind to introduce a built-in calibration sensor. ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 will correctly display very bright and very dark areas of the screen without sacrificing either, something which is difficult to reproduce in standard dynamic range monitors.

Brightness levels of 1000 cd/m^2 (typical) are achieved with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 for a true HDR display. The most impressive feature of the EIZO ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 is the unique calibration sensor incorporated into the display, that ensures the monitor remains colour accurate over time and streamlines the calibration process so users can stay focused on workflows.

EIZO has equipped the ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 with its ColorNavigator 7 software so users can quickly colour calibrate their monitor reliably with ease. The monitor also includes support for hybrid log-gamma (HLG) and the perceptual quantization curve for editing video content in HDR that renders images true to how they appear to the human eye.

The ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 is also equipped with a temperature sensor to measure the temperature inside the monitor so that change in temperature doesn’t affect colour reproduction. The temperature sensor allows the monitor to adjust in real-time so that gradients, colour, brightness and other image characteristics remain accurate and consistant.

EIZO will be showcasing the new ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 true HDR reference monitor at NAB 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from 19th to 22nd April. The monitor is expected to become available for purchase in April 2020, EIZO is yet to reveal the price.

KitGuru says: The EIZO ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 sounds like the ideal monitor for content creators and professional post-production users with its built-in calibration sensor. What do you guys think of the new ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146t true HDR reference monitor from EIZO?

EIZO is about to release the first true HDR monitor with a built-in calibration sensor for professional colour grading- the ColorEdge Prominence CG3146. Succeeding the EIZO CG3145, the CG3146 is a 31-inch HDR  reference monitor using a DCI-4K resolution (4096×2160) designed for “professional post-production and colour grading workflow”.

Offering 1000 cd/m2 (typical) of brightness and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, this IPS display can correctly display both blacks and whites “without sacrificing the integrity of either”. The 10-bit simultaneous display (from a 24-bit LUT) can also cover 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space and has 10ms G2G of response time, and a 3D LUT to calibrate each colour individually on an RGB cubic table.

Using the built-in calibration sensor, users can focus on their work while the display automatically calibrates the colours over time. Additionally, users can calibrate the monitor through EIZO’s ColorNavigator 7 colour management software, but also “maintain quality control in multi-monitor environments”, and configure the recalibration intervals.

There's a built-in temperature sensor to ensure the changes in ambient and monitor temperatures don't affect the colour, gradations, brightness, and remaining display characteristics. This sensor can read the temperature inside the monitor, and estimate the temperature outside of it. Based on both of these, the sensor adjusts the display in real-time to ensure the continuous accurate display of content. The temperature estimation also uses AI to “distinguish between various temperature changing patterns” for added accuracy.

According to EIZO, the company's digital uniformity equaliser (DUE) technology is used to counterbalance the changes in colour temperature and brightness that happen because of the fluctuation in temperatures.

The CG3146 support HLG (hybrid log-gamma) to “render images to appear truer to how the human eye perceives”,  and PQ (perceptual quantisation) curve so users can display and edit any video content in HDR.

Although it's common to use both ABL (Auto Brightness Limiter) and local dimming technologies to achieve an HDR experience, the EIZO CG3146 is not using any of them. The monitor achieves “a true HDR visual experience without the limitations of these technologies” and ensures that both colour and brightness are always accurate in every pixel.

The extensive monitor's connectivity includes 3x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A, 1x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-B, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x HDMI 2.0 port, 3x Quad-Link BNC (3G/HD-SDI) connectors, and 1x Dual-Link BNC (12G/6G/3G/HD-SDI) connector.

EIZO's ColorEdge Prominence CG3146 will be available from April 2020. A demo showcasing the product will be made at NAB 2020, in Las Vegas, USA, from April 19 to 22.

The EV2460 and the EV2360 are the two latest additions to the EZIO's FlexScan lineup, the company's line of monitors aimed at business environments and for general-purpose usage. The FlexScan EV2360 is EIZO's smallest frameless model.

Both these monitors come in black or white colour palette and use EcoView technologies. These technologies, such as the EcoView Optimizer 2 and the Auto EcoView, are used for better power efficiency according to Guru3D.

While EcoView Optimizer 2 balances the brightness and gain based on the screen's content, Auto EcoView adjusts the brightness based on the physical environment, reducing eye fatigue. These two technologies together reduce the typical power consumption of these monitors to 10W for the EV2460 and 11W for the EV2360.

Succeeding the EV2450, EIZO FlexScan EV2460 is a 24-inch monitor with a frameless design carrying an IPS display with a 1920×1080 resolution and 60Hz of refresh rate. It has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 250cd/m² typical brightness, 5ms of g2g response time, 178º/178º viewing angles, and an 8-bits (6 bits + FRC) panel with 10-bits LUT.

Thanks to its FlexStand, this monitor can tilt from 35º up to 5º down, swivel 344º, pivot 90º, and adjust its height by 140mm. For connectivity, there's 4x USB 3.1 Type-A ports, 1x USB 3.1 Type-B port, 1x HDMI port, 1x DisplayPort, 1x DVI-D port, 1x D-sub mini port, and a stereo mini jack. There are also 2x 1.0W built-in speakers.

The EZIO FlexScan EV2360 comes with a 23-inch IPS panel with a 1920×1200 resolution, a refresh rate of 60Hz, 8-bits (6 bits + FRC) of bit depth and a 10-bits LUT. It has the same 1000:1 contrast ratio, 250cd/m² typical brightness, 5ms of g2g response time, and 178º/178º viewing angles as the EV2460.

Just like the EV2460, it uses the FlexStand enabling the same pivot, swivel, tilt, and height adjustment capacities. Regarding connectivity, there's 2x USB 3.1 Type-A ports, 1x USB 3.1 Type-B port, 1x HDMI port, 1x DisplayPort, 1x D-sub mini port, and a stereo mini jack. This monitor has the same 2x 1.0W built-in speakers, as the EV2460.

These two monitors don't have flame retardants which should allow for better recyclability, and the packaging uses recyclable materials, as EIZO is doing its part for the United Nations Sustainable Goals (SDGs).

Pricing details were not shared and availability varies by country. Both monitors are covered by a five-year warranty and a six-month no bright pixel guarantee. For more information regarding the EZIO FlexScan EV2460 click HERE, and for the EZIO FlexScan EV2360 click HERE.

Eizo, a leading maker of high-end displays, this week introduced a premium 27” monitor, which weds IPS [in-plane switching] panel, 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync technology. The combination is pretty unique since the vast majority of displays with 144Hz refresh rate feature cheap TN+film panels.

The Eizo Foris FS2735 display with 27” IPS panel has 2560*1440 resolution as well as LED backlight. The monitor is designed specifically for gamers and features Eizo’s proprietary motion blur reduction feature that controls the blinking of the LED backlight as well as AMD’s FreeSync technology that dynamically synchronizes refresh rate of the display with the frame rate of AMD Radeon graphics adapters to eliminate stuttering and tearing.

eizo_fs2735_1

The unique combination of Eizo’s traditional quality, an IPS panel, 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync will likely make the display rather popular among demanding gamers, who want to have vivid colours as well as extreme refresh-rate along with AMD’s FreeSync. So far, only Asustek Computer has introduced a similar display.

eizo_fs2735

The monitor features one DisplayPort, two HDMI ports and one DVI-D input. The device also integrates dual-port USB 3.0 hub as well as two 1W speakers. The display comes with G-Ignition Mobile software, which allows to adjust display settings using smartphones.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4St3cm4Ghc ‘]

The Eizo Foris FS2735 will be available this winter (e.g., in late 2015). Pricing is unknown, but typically Eizo displays cost slightly more than monitors from other companies. The product will come with a five-year manufacturer's limited warranty.

KitGuru Says: AMD FreeSync is getting more popular among display makers. Implementation of the technology is free and easy: manufacturers only have to use a compatible display scaler available from multiple vendors. Perhaps, eventually, AMD FreeSync will become a standard/default feature of displays aimed at gamers and multimedia enthusiasts.

Eizo, a leading producer of professional and consumer displays, has unveiled a rather extravagant square display with 1920*1920 resolution. The Eizo FlexScan EV2730Q monitor is intended for CAD/CAM/DCC/finance and other professionals, sports a number of professional features and is among the first square displays with 26.5” diagonal on the market.

Eizo’s FlexScan EV2730Q monitor is based on a 1920*1920 IPS panel with LED backlighting, 300cd/m2 brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time, 60Hz refresh rate and 178°/178° (H/V) viewing angles. To lower eyestrain, the monitor features anti-glare coating and utilizes Eizo’s proprietary technology that regulates brightness to make flicker unperceivable. In addition, the wide dimming range allows the monitor to be adjusted to just 1% of maximum brightness for higher comfort in dimly-lit work environments.

eizo_square_monitor_2

The FlexScan EV2730Q from Eizo is by no means a display for gamers or multimedia enthusiasts, but if you are a professional who needs a lot of vertical workspace (for CAD, CAM, DCC, finance, development or other applications) on your screen, this is a monitor just for you. In fact, the EV2730Q is among the first square displays with 26.5” diagonal and high-definition resolution on the market, which is why it will likely get rather popular.

The EV2730Q display sports one dual-link DVD-D and one DisplayPort input. It has built-on two-port USB hub, two 1W speakers as well as 3.5mm stereo jack audio input.

eizo_square_monitor

The FlexScan EV2730Q will be available from the first quarter of 2015. Pricing of the Eizo FlexScan EV2730Q is unknown, but it will not be affordable, given the positioning of the display. The monitor comes with 5-year warranty, which is a good thing.

The price of TFT screens has plummeted over the past 2 years. At the same time, the glass panels that are used to make monitors have been getting bigger and bigger. More screen real estate is always better.  These advances allow you have more applications open at once, play games in a more immersive way and watch films on a bigger screen.

Technologies
Sizes are measured diagonally in inches, resolutions in pixels (width x height). High definition means that the height is at least 1080 pixels. Older screens connected using a VGA or DVI port. New screens have support for HDMI or Displayport as well. Older cards support up to 2 displays simultaneously, while the latest ATI cards can drive up to 3 Displayport screens at once.

Resolution
Low-grade 19” and 20” screens run at 1680 x  1050 and cost under £100. With 22” HD screens available to the trade for less than £100, this has to be considered entry-level. These will run at 1920×1080 resolutions and have ultra-fast response cycles. Image quality is a personal thing, but most screens are good enough for general use. Moving through 24” to 26” and 27” screens, the resolution doesn’t change. That means you will get the same number of pixels – but bigger. When the screen size increases, you will lose some quality. To get a higher resolution, you need to look at 30” screens which can deliver 2560×1600 – but these are prohibitively expensive with a trade price closer to $1,000.

Image Quality
There is no substitute for getting hands-on with a screen when it comes to working out which one is best for you. However, the input signal you see displayed in a store is often very low grade and won’t show the screen off properly. When deciding, look at how black the screen is in areas that are not lit, also look for whiter-whites. When gaming, you might see the picture occasionally ‘break’. This is called shearing. If your graphic card is able to run the game at more than 60 frames per second, then you can force the screen to synchronise with the card at 60Hz. This is called VSynch and improves image quality.

Most of the screens in the KitGuru lab are made by Iiyama. They are not necessarily better than similar models from LG, Samsung etc, but they were first to deliver 1080p in a 22” package and that was enough. If you’re a professional user (or tend to have multiple Messenger windows open), consider adding a second screen for £100.
