Cyberpunk 2077 has come a very long way since its launch. At this point, the game is in great shape across PC and current-gen consoles, and a bunch of overhauls and new content additions have expanded and transformed the game into one of the best RPGs in years. If you've yet to give the game a try, then there is a free weekend coming up that you may be interested in.

CD Projekt Red has announced a free trial for Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles. The game will be free to install and play from the 28th of March until the 31st, giving you a full weekend to play the game.

While it is unlikely that you will finish Cyberpunk 2077 in one weekend, you should be able to make a good amount of progress. At the very least, you'll have plenty of time to see if it is a game you want to add to your collection.

This free trial period is for the game's Ultimate Edition, which includes all content, including the Phantom Liberty expansion. Any progress made in the trial will carry over to the full game if you do decide to pick it up afterwards. At this point, Cyberpunk 2077 can regularly be found on sale, with prices dropping down to around $20.

If you've been looking to try out Diablo 4, or want to get some friends involved, then this is a good week to make it happen. From now until the 28th of November, Diablo 4 is free to play on Steam.

Blizzard already held free play days recently on other platforms like Battle.net and consoles. Now with the game's arrival on Steam, the most popular PC gaming platform, Blizzard is launching another free week.

You'll get full access to the game and better yet, this week Blizzard has also enabled a limited time XP and gold boost, so you can quickly scale up a new character and test out some different builds.

If you do decide to pick up the game after some time playing for free, then you can pick it up at a 40% discount, bringing the price down to £35.99 on Steam during the Autumn Sale, which went live today.

KitGuru Says: Will you be checking out Diablo 4 during its free week? The game had a mixed reception at launch for its multiplayer elements but at the very least, you can make your way through the excellent campaign. I also think it is worth noting that the game's second season has gone over much better with the community compared to the first season, with vastly more interesting content, with more to come in December thanks to the Abatoir of Zir limited time event.

Since launch, Ubisoft has updated Far Cry 6 with a lot more content, including several crossover events, including a recent Stranger Things update. This weekend is a perfect opportunity to check all of that out, as Far Cry 6 will be free to play.

From August 4th until August 7th, Ubisoft is opening up free access to Far Cry 6. You can install it on PC or console and play the full game for free, including the three crossover missions – one focused on Stranger Things, one involving Danny Trejo and a Rambo crossover.

Of course, with this being an Ubisoft open world game, there is a ton of content in the base game, making it unlikely that you'll be able to finish the game in one weekend. If you do feel like picking it up though, then you'll get 60% off while the free weekend is on-going.

It is no secret that Call of Duty is currently at a low point, with franchise fatigue setting in once again. In an effort to boost player counts and sales, Activision will be offering a two-week free trial for Vanguard, the longest free trial period for any Call of Duty game ever.

Call of Duty is no stranger to free weekends, and each game in the series usually gets at least a couple of free weekends over its lifecycle. However, with Vanguard continuing to struggle, Activision is going to offer a much longer free trial period to encourage sales and bring in new players. The two week free trial period begins on the 30th of March and ends on the 13th of April.

During those two weeks, free players will have access to several popular multiplayer modes, as well as the most popular maps the game has to offer – including Casablanca and Gondola, two maps that launched with Season Two recently. You will also get to play the new base capture mode, set on a large map with vehicles and objective-based gameplay.

Currently, Call of Duty Vanguard is also up to 35% off on PC, but discounts for the digital console versions have not been announced.

Last week, Square Enix announced that the first major expansion for Marvel's Avengers, which will introduce Black Panther to the game, will be releasing in August. To celebrate, over the weekend, the game went free to play for a limited time and sure enough, it did seem to reinvigorate the player base a bit.

Over the free weekend, Marvel's Avengers rose from just a few hundred active players, to several thousand, peaking at over 10,200. Currently, there are just under 7,000 players online concurrently, with just a couple of hours left to go in the free weekend.

The game is still performing worse than you'd expect from a high-budget Marvel game, and Square Enix has been unable to push peak concurrent players over launch-day numbers. However, for a game that had less than a thousand average concurrent players just a few months ago, this is a decent turn around.

Marvel's Avengers will get its ‘War for Wakanda' expansion on the 16th of August, ending the current content roadmap. More content is planned, but outside of the PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man DLC, nothing else has been announced so far.

It has been around six months since Watch Dogs Legion first released, so its about time for a free weekend. Later this week, Ubisoft will be making Watch Dogs Legion free to download and play for a limited time. Aside from that, the game also has a new roadmap for future DLC and updates.

Starting off with the roadmap, players can expect plenty of new content for Watch Dogs Legion Online in the near-future, including a new hero, a new single-player mission, new co-op missions and better character customisation. All of that is planned for April, leading up to May's bigger update, which includes a new multiplayer Tactical Op, PvP invasion and PvP extraction modes.

In June, we'll be focussing on single-player content again, with the launch of the Bloodline campaign expansion, which also introduces Aiden Pearce and Wrench from the previous Watch Dogs games. Finally, in August, Ubisoft will add another playable hero, new missions and release an Assassin's Creed crossover event.

For those that just want to get in and play the game as it is currently, you can do so for free this week. From the 25th of March to the 29th of March, Watch Dogs Legion will be free to play, although single-player progress is limited to the first two chapters, so you won't be able to play it all the way through to the end. Still, you'll be able to play enough to figure out if you want to pick it up on sale to finish it.

KitGuru Says: While Watch Dogs Legion wasn't the follow-up I expected, I enjoyed the game quite a bit. Are any of you planning on giving this one a go during the free weekend period?

Ghost Recon Breakpoint had a rough launch back in 2019 but after a year of additional development and several major updates, the game is in much better shape now. If you've yet to give the game a go, then this week is the perfect time as the game is free to play.

From today until the 25th of January, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is free to download and play via uPlay or the Epic Games Store. The free weekend is also available on Xbox One and PS4.

As we can see from the trailer above, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently holding a collaboration event with Rainbow Six Siege. During this, players will “take on Sentinel and their latest plans of destruction with the help of Rainbow Six operators”.

Just like Ghost Recon Wildlands, in Breakpoint, players can team up in squads of 4 and explore an open world map, taking down enemies along the way using various guns, gadgets and vehicles. You can find the full details and participate in the free weekend, HERE.

While discussion and news around PUBG has quietened down a bit in recent, the game is still a huge hit, pulling in hundreds of thousands of concurrent players per day. If you haven't jumped in for a while, or if you never bought the game to begin with, then this is a good weekend to install it, as the game will be free on Steam.

Until late Sunday evening, PUBG is free to install and play through Steam. As with most free weekends, players taking part will have access to all content, including the new ranked playlist, the revised version of the VIkendi map and other recent updates.

The only thing you won't have access to without purchasing the game is the in-game store, so you won't be tricked into wasting any money on microtransactions that you later can't use.

You can find PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on the Steam store, HERE. The game is also on a 50% off sale until the 8th of June.

As we approach the launch of Operation Void Edge and the addition of two new operators, Rainbow Six Siege is having another free weekend. Those who have yet to try, or have not bought Ubisoft's competitive shooter can download the game and play for free this week across all platforms.

The free weekend starts today and ends on Sunday, so you can play from March 5th to March 8th. The free version also includes access to all maps and modes, so you can dive in to all aspects of the game and test out different operators to get a feel for what guns and abilities you  like.

As usual, the free weekend is accessible on all platforms, so you can play on Xbox One, PS4 or PC. On the PC side, you can download the game through Steam, uPlay or the Epic Games Store.

To coincide with this free weekend, Rainbow Six Siege is also going on sale, but you will want to pay attention to which edition you buy. The base game comes with the original operators and none of the Year 1 to 4 characters for £6.80. If you jump up to the ‘Deluxe Edition' for £8.58, you will get the Year 1 and Year 2 DLC operators, which gives you a much better starting point for competitive play.

The ‘Gold Edition' is £25.29 and comes with the Year 1 and Year 2 operators in addition to the Year 5 pass, meaning you will have to go back and unlock operators from Year 3 and Year 4 later on. Finally, for £39.04, you can get the ‘Ultimate Edition', which includes all DLC operators as well as the new Year 5 pass, giving you everything you need to stay up to date with the game throughout 2020.

It has been a few months since Star Citizen last had a ‘free fly’ week, with the previous one arriving over the Summer. Now, to celebrate this year's CitizenCon event, Star Citizen will be free to play again, starting on the 24th of November through to the 5th of December.

Once you've found your footing, you'll have free access to a number of different space ships each day, with different days showcasing a different in-universe ship manufacturer.

On the 24th of November, things kick off with free to fly ships from Anvil Aerospace, moving on to Robert Space Industries ships on the 25th. Here is the full schedule, which culminates with several days of ‘best in show' ships, which will be picked via community votes:

  • Nov 24 – Anvil Aerospace
  • Nov 25 – Roberts Space Industries
  • Nov 26 – Kruger Intergalactic, Consolidated Outlands, Tumbril
  • Nov 27 – Musashi Industrial and Starflight Concern (MISC) and Argo

  • Nov 29 – Aegis Dynamics
  • Nov 30 – Drake Interplanetary
  • Dec 1 – Origin Jumpworks
  • Dec 2-5 – “Best In Show” – a group of ships voted on by the Star Citizen Community source from all in-game ships

The Star Citizen Free Fly event will also include access to the latest features introduced in recent patches. This includes, FPS mining, cave environments, harvestable consumables, a full law enforcement system, mission sharing for co-op play, ship purchases & rentals and finally, a commodity inventory for better player storage.

You will be able to download and start playing Star Citizen on Sunday the 24th of November after creating an account via the official website.

Hot on the heels of this week's new operator leak, Ubisoft has announced that Rainbow Six Siege will be having a free weekend. Starting from tomorrow, you will be able to download Rainbow Six Siege for free on PC, Xbox One or PS4 and have full access.

The free weekend runs from the 16th of November until the 19th. If you end up deciding that you want to pick up the game, then you'll be able to get it for 60 percent off on consoles and 50 percent off on PC.

Currently, Ubisoft is preparing to finish off Rainbow Six Siege's ‘Year Two' season of content, which will include two more operators and another map. The release cycle for new characters was disrupted a bit this year due to Operation Health, but with that now out of the way, things are back on track.

With Year Two coming to a close, we should hopefully start to hear about ‘Year Three' at some point before the end of the year. If you do end up buying Siege while it is on sale, then do keep in mind that you will also need to pick up the season pass to unlock newer operators straight away, or you can save up in-game currency to unlock them individually for free.

KitGuru Says: Ubisoft has been doing a great job with Rainbow Six Siege with consistent updates. Things got a bit rocky over the summer but hopefully the trials and tribulations of Year Two will make for a better Year Three. Are many of you still actively playing Siege? Will you be jumping in for the free weekend?

Titanfall 2 has only been out for a month and despite receiving excellent reviews and positive coverage in general, sales for the game haven't been great- despite what EA wants you to believe. In an effort to get people to at least give the game a shot, Respawn Entertainment will be holding a free multiplayer trial this weekend, giving those perhaps on the fence a chance to try it out.

If you happen to be an Origin Access member, then you will get to start playing on the 30th of November (today) until the 4th of December. However, if you don't subscribe to that service, you will get in on Friday the 2nd of December.

titanfall2_waterfall

This comes just a week after Titanfall 2 went for as low as £20 at many stores across Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. Despite what appears to be a troubling time to get people to give Titanfall 2 a chance, EA execs have noted a couple of times that the publisher is committed to the future of the franchise, so there could be room for a sequel in the future.

If you want to see how Titanfall 2 runs on PC before going through the download process for the free weekend, you can check out our analysis and benchmarks for the game, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I really enjoy Titanfall 2 but the game could do with some additional promotion to expand the player base a bit. I guess the hope here is that if people at least give the game a chance while it's free, then they may pick it up and stick around. It isn't a bad tactic but time will tell whether or not it will pay off.

If you have ever wanted to jump into the vast universe of Eve Online, then you will have the chance to do just that this weekend, as the game will be free to download and play on Steam. On the flip side, if you are already a dedicated Eve Online player, this could present you with an opportunity to beef up your alliance, corporation or coalition with fresh players, after all, there is strength in numbers.

Eve Online can seem like quite an intimidating MMO to get into but there are people out there are plenty of in-game resources to help get you up to speed and chat channels dedicated to helping new players.

maxresdefault

On top of the game being free from now until 8PM BST on Sunday, you can also grab the game for £3.74 on sale until Monday, though do keep in mind you will need to set up a subscription in addition to that. Unless you are really dedicated, in which case you could probably obtain some Plex to pay off your game time.

KitGuru Says: If you already know someone who plays Eve then getting involved and up to speed should be easier. I've been itching to jump back into the game myself recently, then again, I may end up back in Wow for Legion by the end of the month. Are any of you guys big Eve players? Or have you been tempted to jump in before?

This is a big week for Warhammer fans, not only has Total War: Warhammer just launched but if you are more into the Left 4 Dead formula, then you can also try out Warhammer: End Times Vermintide for free on Steam this weekend.

Vermintide is one of the better games on the PC to use the Warhammer license. You will be able to play it from today until the end of Sunday but if you do decide to buy it, you can also grab it for 40 percent off.

The game itself is a co-op title in the same vein as Left 4 Dead, but instead of zombies and guns, you take on hordes of rats with swords, bows, spells and axes. There is also a unique crafting mechanic to upgrade and create better weapons.

KitGuru Says: I quite enjoyed Vermintide back when it first came out. If you have a friend or two and could use a co-op game then it is worth giving a shot, particularly while its free.

If you're in need of a new multiplayer shooter this weekend then Steam has you covered as Rainbow Six Siege will be free to play for the next few days. The team-focussed tactical shooter originally launched in December to a fairly positive reception.

As with other Steam free weekends, the game will be available from today (Friday) until late on Sunday afternoon here in the UK. The game is fully playable on both Steam and uPlay but if you decide to pick up the game, it is also selling for 33 percent off, so you can grab it for £27.

The gold edition, which includes the base game and season pass, is also on sale for £33. This will get you quicker access to new operators, without having to spend renown points to unlock them. Any player progression you make over the free weekend will carry over if you decide to buy the game as well so you won't have to waste time starting over from square one.

KitGuru Says: Rainbow Six Siege was a fairly good game though it did have some networking problems early on when I first played it. All of the different operator classes are fun to try out too. Have any of you tried Rainbow Six Siege at all? Will you be jumping in for the free weekend?

It is Friday, which means its time to get your weekend gaming plans in order. If you happen to be looking for something new to play, then you'll be happy to know that Killing Floor 2 and Evolve will be free until Sunday evening. On Evolve's side, the game and all of its DLC will be playable throughout the course of the weekend, with the base game also going on sale.

Obviously Evolve has had its fair share of troubles on the PC, with its concurrent player count often dwindling more and more by the day. However, it is 2K's hope that if players can give the game a go and pick it up on the cheap, maybe things will turn around.

On the flip side, we have Killing Floor 2, which is actually still in early access. The free weekend will include all of the currently released content, which includes two new perks, weapons and some new graphical tech in the form of PhysX support.

You will be able to download both Evolve and Killing Floor 2 this evening, from there, you will be able to play until Sunday evening.

KitGuru Says: Evolve is actually a pretty fun game, though I understand why people were hesitant , after all the DLC plan was pretty ridiculous. On top of that, third party servers and mod support likely would have done wonders for the game on PC. If you are interested in playing Evolve, then it's pretty good for a few hours if you need something to play this weekend. On the flip side, Killing Floor 2 is also a pretty fun game, though it isn't too different from other zombie horde shooters. It does have a very cool levelling system though.

If you have been thinking about trying out Company of Heroes or the latest hit survival game, Ark: Survival Evolved, then this weekend is the perfect opportunity as there will be a Steam free weekend for both of those games. Ark is probably the most surprising addition to the free weekend, given its immense popularity, high sales and the fact that it is only a couple of months old at this point.

That said, it is one of the more polished survival experiences currently out on Early Access, it also seems to be making good progress with weekly updates and plenty of community interaction.

If survival games aren't your thing, then you'll also be able to get your hands on Company of Heroes and Company of Heroes 2, developed by Relic Studios. These two RTS games take place in World War 2, with the latter due to get an expansion some time soon. The free weekend will be accompanied by a sale, so you'll be able to pick both games up at 75% off.

The final game included in the free weekend is Mount & Blade: Warband, as well as its expansions. This particular game will also be on sale for 66% off. The free weekend kicks off later today at 6PM and will run until 6PM on Sunday evening here in the UK.

KitGuru Says: I'm a little surprised to see Ark on the list, though it does give people a good chance to give the game a go if they are on the edge when it comes to buying. Will any of you be trying out one of the games taking part in the free weekend?

Chances are you've heard of Star Citizen, it is one of the most ambitious crowd funded games to date. If you aren't sure what all of the hype is about, then this weekend is your chance to give it a go as a 20GB demo of the game will be freely available until the end of tomorrow.

To start off you will need a Star Citizen account, which you can create, HERE. After that you can enter the code PAXEASTFREEFLY2K15 and start your download. The demo client is 20GB so expect it to take a little while.

The demo will give you access to the Anvil Hornet F7C trainer ship in the Arena Commander module, which throws you out in to space to shoot at other ships. Obviously the game is still in development and the final version of the game isn't due until sometime next year, so don't expect the demo to have a ton of content, despite its 20GB size.

The final game is expected to exceed 100GB in size due to the in-game assets. Star Citizen also recently surpassed the $75 million crowd funding goal and will likely go on to generate $100 million.

KitGuru Says: A 20GB download shouldn't be too bad for most people. Are you planning to give the game a go? Are you already a backer?

Are you in need of something to play this weekend? Valve has you covered as Borderlands 2 and Dishonoured are both free on Steam for the next few days. In addition, 2K Games is having a publisher sale, you can pick up Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition at 75 per cent off. You can also save a fair bit on Bioshock, XCOM and Civilisation V.

Dishonoured isn't a part of the 2K Games catalogue but it is still worth talking about. If you've yet to play the Steam-Punk esque action-stealth title, then now is as good a time as any, take part in the free weekend- If you enjoy the game then it's worth picking up the GOTY Edition for 66%. This way, you'll get to play the two DLC expansions, bringing in around six hours of extra gameplay with new powers and characters.

Borderlands is a game you are more likely to be familiar with. The co-op shooter has become hugely popular over the last couple of years. You can try and play solo but its much more fun with a friend or two.

Borderlands 2 does have a story line but the game is built to be accessible to everyone- even those who didn’t play the first game. Coincidentally, we are due a new Borderlands game later this year, it’s called Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and will give some background on Handsome Jack’s character as well as Claptrap.

Update: Just to clarify, these games are only free to play for the weekend, you do have to buy the games in order to keep playing past Sunday.

EA has done a lot to improve its Origin service recently, for a start it offers you a free game every month and now the company is kicking off “Game Time”, Origin's free weekend scheme. For the next 48 hours, PC gamers will be able to play Titanfall for free, which might rekindle the multiplayer again.

Valve hosts the occasional free weekend on Steam from time to time but they aren't very frequent, so it would be nice to see EA turn this into a regular thing. If you haven't played Titanfall yet, then you should probably give it a go as it is a pretty fun game.

titanfall-600-x-300

Now keep in mind that if you don't have a particularly strong Internet connection then it might take you most of the weekend to download as the game is 50GB in size. However, if speed isn't an issue for you then you can head to EA's Game Time page and get started.

All progress you make over the weekend will be saved just in-case you go ahead and buy the game afterwards.

KitGuru Says: I really enjoyed Titanfall, unfortunately though the EU servers dwindled in popularity and during my last couple of attempts to play the game, I've ended up in almost entirely empty servers. However, hopefully this free weekend will reignite the spark and get people playing again! Do any of you guys still play Titanfall? Will any of you be taking part in the free weekend?
