Sharkoon has been releasing gaming-oriented furniture for some time now, with a full selection of gaming chairs and desks. This month, Sharkoon is introducing two new desks – the SKILLER SGD10 and SGD20, both of which come with a tabletop-sized mouse mat and plenty of space for a full gaming setup.

With a tabletop that is 160 centimetres long and 80 centimetres wide, the SKILLER SGD10 should offer enough space for a PC, multiple monitors, and all your necessary peripherals like a mouse and keyboard. If you choose the SKILLER SGD20 instead, you'll have more space, with this version measuring in at 180cm long and 85cm wide. Thanks to a robust steel frame construction, both models have a load capacity of up to 100 kilograms, and the height of the desks can be adjusted in three stages via the extra-large legs.  The top of the desk also has a full mouse mat cover, giving you plenty of room to perform all movements needed in games.

To help keep your setup tidy, the Sharkoon desks offer extensive cable management options, with two cable outlets near the back edge of the tabletop. This allows you to route your cables and keep them as out of sight as possible for a clean setup. If you opt for the larger SKILLER SGD20, you'll have another cable management opening in the middle, and you can attach a magnetic cable channel to the left or right leg of the desk. If you need a place to keep your headset, both desks come with a headset holder attachment.

The Sharkoon SKILLER SGD10 is available now for €279. The SKILLER SGD20 is available for just a bit extra, coming in at €299.

The Black Edition is a new range of chairs that feature a new hybrid fabric, updated design and features. However, they also come in at a higher price point. The Epic Black Edition in this review retails for £375 making it quite the investment. So is it worth it?

When it comes to reviewing gaming chairs we always see mixed opinions from our readers. There are plenty of options already out there but more manufacturers are entering the market with their own take on the established racing-style design. Pros:

  • Can be adjusted in several different ways.
  • Breathable synthetic leather means it's easy to clean.
  • Steel frame construction.
  • Good price compared to other similar chairs.
  • Has an attractive design.

Cons:

  • Can be awkward to assemble.
  • Arm rests are quite small and wobbly.
  • Cushions are hard and uncomfortable.
  • Less comfortable for extended use.

KitGuru says: The Sharkoon Elbrus Chair fills a relatively niche area of the market. It doesn't have quite the same build quality or comfort as the more premium chairs, but with the attractive design it really does look the part and is more interesting than a standard office chair. We think it's an option for casual users who want a gaming style chair without breaking the bank.

Briony goes POSTAL – and cuts up GAMING CHAIRS! https://www.kitguru.net/peripherals/briony-hannam/briony-goes-postal-and-cuts-up-gaming-chairs/ https://www.kitguru.net/peripherals/briony-hannam/briony-goes-postal-and-cuts-up-gaming-chairs/#respond Fri, 19 Apr 2019 08:41:20 +0000 https://www.kitguru.net/?p=410606 Briony has reviewed a lot of gaming chairs in her time with KitGuru and she has always wanted to see what was inside them. She wanted to cut up her OWN 18 month old Noblechair - and we asked Noblechairs if they would like to come along when we cut the hell out of it with a stanley knife. They said 'sure no problem' we will bring you a new one too and watch you cut it up. We also bought a no name 'cheap' gaming chair from Amazon - just to see if there was any difference at all. Is it all a CON?

The post Briony goes POSTAL – and cuts up GAMING CHAIRS! first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
A year and a half ago I reviewed the noblechairs Epic gaming chair (HERE) . I really liked the chair and rated it a solid 9/10 meaning it earned our top “Must have” award. Since that review I have been using the chair as my daily driver while working, gaming and filming.

In this video I discuss how well the chair has held up over its lifetime and give it a final review before cutting it apart live on camera with the help of Noblechairs themselves. Alas it is not needless destruction as we wanted to compare the internals of the £300 chair to that of a generic racing style gaming chair that can be bought on amazon for around £60. Can the noblechair still justify its expensive price tag?

Gallery:

The noblechairs epic series chair can be found at OCUK here for £299.99

The Amazon Gaming chair we destroyed can be found here

Kitguru says: It's clear to see there is a pretty solid difference in the materials used between the two chairs and we certainly feel a noblechair is still a worthwhile investment. We love to hear from our readers so let us know if you feel that the £300 price tag is more justified after our dissection!

Ikea, the company that has simultaneously provided us with most of our in-house furnishings and frustrating afternoons with wooden plugs and glue, has gone after IkeaHackers.net with a cease and desist order, claiming that it impeaches its trademark name. It's given the owner until 23rd June to takedown all adverts on the site or hand over the domain, leaving her bemused and saddened, considering the eight years the site's been in operation.

“Jules Yap,” has been running the site since 2006, giving people ideas about how to improve their Ikea products. It's filled with simple fixes or changes that take very little effort, to huge projects like mounting products on the ceiling for an interesting artistic look, all offered freely to Ikea customers and those just interested in modding furniture. It's an homage to the company's products and their versatility if anything and yet Ikea has now decided that it's existence should no longer be tolerated.

Responding to the Ikea legal request, Yap has said she has no choice but to remove ads from the site to keep it open, as it was too close to her heart to let go. The site doesn't just give her some extra pocket money either, it's her livelihood.

ikea
Look what you did Ikea. You killed the blue and white dog.

“Over the last 8 years the site has grown so much that I could not juggle the demands of a full time job and managing IKEAhackers. It also costs quite a bit to run a site this large. Since IKEA® does not pay me a cent, I turned to advertising to support myself and this site,” she said on the site's blog.

“Now by June 23rd, I would need to take down the ads, not earn any income and still advance their brand on this site. Wonderful!”

Looking forward, Yap plans to launch a new domain name without the Ikea branding and therefore will be able to advertise on it all she wants, at which point she'll direct current users of IkeaHackers over to the new site. For now though, she's just looking for a little moral support.

KitGuru Says: Unless Ikea plans to launch its own version of the site, this sort of trademark wagon circling is so short sighted. The amount of free advertising this sort of website gives the company is better than anything it could pay for and yet it somehow feels threatened by it. So strange.
