Ghostrunner is a rather unique cyberpunk-action game, offering a satisfying gameplay loop in an interesting world. Developed by One More Level and published by 505 Games, its success has resonated with millions of fans. How many millions? Well, the team has now announced that ahead of the sequel’s October launch, Ghostrunner has sold over 2.5 million copies.

Making the announcement on the game’s store page, the team at One More Level said “The entire Ghostrunner team is proud to share that Ghostrunner has sold over 2.5 million units since it launched on October 27, 2020! Thank you for being a part of the Ghostrunner community and helping to spread the word about Ghostrunner and Ghostrunner 2.”

This is doubly impressive when considering the fact that Ghostrunner has in the past been made available on game subscription services, meaning its total player base is likely far higher. Offering additional details on its success, the team stated that “We originally intended to make a 2 million units sold announcement, but the excitement around Ghostrunner 2 has been so incredible that we quickly jumped to 2.5+ million copies so we thought we might as well provide you the most up to date figures.”

For the uninitiated, Ghostrunner is a fast-paced first-person parkour title which feels like a mix between Mirror’s Edge and Hotline Miami in which you “slice your enemies with a monomolecular katana, dodge bullets with your superhuman reflexes, and employ a variety of specialized techniques to prevail.”

Ghostrunner 2 looks to be a much more ambitious title, and so as long as the sequel manages to maintain its smooth and fluid gameplay from the first game, then it will likely hit similar levels of success in even less time upon its release on the 26th of October.

Now, 505 Games and the developers behind the game, One More Level, have announced that Ghostrunner 2 will officially be launching in October.

Ghostrunner is a Cyberpunk-style parkour game, with players dashing and wall-running through levels, dodging bullets and taking out enemies along the way. It quickly became one of my favourite indie games thanks to its satisfying and addictive gameplay. Now on the 26th of October, Ghostrunner 2 will officially release for PC, Xbox and PlayStation.

Those who pre-order the game's ‘Brutal Edition' will get two days of early access, starting on the 24th of October. Aside from early access, this more expensive edition of the game will also include a handful of skins, as well as access to the Season Pass content, which will roll out in the months following the game's release.

In Ghostrunner 2, players will continue to follow the story of Jack the Ghostrunner and the battle against rogue AI.

KitGuru Says: October is an incredibly crowded month for game releases, although, like the original game, Ghostrunner 2 won't be a full-priced release, coming in at £34.99 rather than the usual £59.99 or £64.99 price tags we see from AAA games nowadays.

While Cyberpunk 2077 may have let us down a little at launch, there were other cyberpunk games released in 2020 that surpassed expectations. One of those games was none other than Ghostrunner, which is making headlines again this year thanks to its new major expansion.

Ghostrunner released in Autumn 2020, putting players in the shoes of Jack the Ghostrunner, tasked with freeing The Architect and liberating Dharma Tower from oppressive rulers. Along the way, players have to dash, wall-run, grapple, dodge and take out enemies. Each level is almost like a puzzle, challenging players to find the quickest and most efficient, or flashiest ways of taking out enemies and making it through each zone.

Now, we can return to Dharma Tower for a bit more action. Today, Ghostrunner's major expansion, Project_Hel, officially released across platforms. Initially planned as a small, free DLC, Project Hel ended up growing in scope and became a full expansion.

The expansion will put players in the role of Hel, who appears in Ghostrunner as the second major boss. She first appears in the game climbing down Dharma Tower just as Jack is making his way up. The expansion will focus on what Hel was doing after avoiding Jack and going off on her own mission.

While we await the eventual announcement of Sony’s revived PlayStation Plus subscription, the service continues to operate as normal: offering a number of games each month for free. While some of March’s free games were leaked early, the most exciting titles were left secret for Sony’s official announcement.

Yesterday we reported that Ark Survival Evolved and Team Sonic Racing would be two of March’s free PS Plus titles. Sony has now officially announced next month’s line-up and while it does include those two titles, the free PS5 game was also announced – alongside a bonus 4th game for both PS4 and PS5 users.

Available to add to your library for free from the 1st of March (assuming you have PS Plus) will be:

  • Ark: Survival Evolved (PS4)
  • Team Sonic Racing (PS4)
  • Ghostrunner (PS5)
  • Ghost of Tsushima: Legends (PS4|5)

Typically Sony offers 3 free games each month: two PS4 titles and a PS5 game. On occasion the console manufacturer would throw in a VR game here and there. Adding an extra PS4 and PS5 game to the line-up in the form of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is certainly an exciting bonus title and will serve to only bolster the game’s online player base.

It is also worth noting while only the PS5 version of Ghostrunner is Available, PS4 players can redeem the game through the browser version of the PlayStation Store or the PS App – meaning it will be waiting for you in your library when/if you get a PS5.

March’s line-up is one of the strongest in months, with 4 free games – all of which are well-liked while still offering a diversity of genres and gameplay styles. If this is a tease at what is to come with the company’s planned ‘Project Spartacus’ then it is an exciting time to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus.

On the 27th of January 2022, Ghostrunner will be getting its first major expansion – Project_Hel. This expansion began development as a small, free content update. However, over the course of this year, it evolved into a full-blown expansion.

The expansion releases in January but before then, players can claim a free holiday pack DLC starting on the 7th of December, containing new cosmetics.

Each month, PlayStation adds a number of new games to its PlayStation Now lineup. The Game Pass-like subscription service has seen much less fanfare than its Microsoft counterpart, though it is cheaper, and still offers a great selection of games. Joining the service this month is NieR: Automata, Undertale, and more.

For the month of August, only three new titles are being added, though they are rather significant. NieR: Automata is the sequel to the 2010 action-JRPG from the mind of Yoko Taro. Starting its life as a cult title, Automata pushed the franchise to new heights, far exceeding sales expectations and expanding the franchise to multiple mediums. Despite being a sequel, Automata can very much be played on its own, and is worth a try.

Ghostrunner is a fast-paced first-person parkour title which feels like a mix between Mirror’s Edge and Hotline Miami. “Slice your enemies with a monomolecular katana, dodge bullets with your superhuman reflexes, and employ a variety of specialized techniques to prevail.”

Undertale needs no introduction. This indie title took the world by storm when it first released back in 2015. Despite its simplistic art style, the game is packed with personality and heart, with the Undertale fandom remaining stronger than ever to this day. If you have yet to play Undertale, now is your chance to do so.

All three titles are currently available to play for free as long as you have a PS Now subscription. Undertale and Ghostrunner are permanent additions to the service, while NieR: Automata will only be available on the service until the 1st of November.

Ghostrunner offered a satisfying gameplay loop in an interesting world. The action platformer was developed by Polish development studio One More Level and co-published by All In! Games and 505 Games. Following its successful launch last year, a sequel has already been greenlit and has officially been announced.

In a press release, the parent company of 505 Games ‘Digital Bros Group’ announced that “In the wake of the continuous success and the most recent acquisition of the [Ghostrunner] intellectual property (IP), the Group doubles its investment for the creation of Ghostrunner 2, contributing with an initial budget of Euro 5 million. Ghostrunner is a brand with a great potential, capable of contributing for a long time to the 505 Games product portfolio.”

As part of this announcement, they revealed that the original Ghostrunner, which only launched at the tail end of October 2020 has sold over 600,000 copies. This will likely continue to rise, especially following the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions some time later this year.

Speaking on the sequel, Digital Bros’ co-CEO said “We are particularly excited about the future release of Ghostrunner 2. Together with One More Level, we have created a thrilling and engaging video game. This new collaboration deepens 505 Games presence within the Polish video game market, a reality now among the firsts in Europe for the development of video games, new projects and talents. We will continue to pay close attention to the Polish market to constantly improve and expand our product portfolio with video games capable of satisfying the tastes of the entire gaming community.”

With the success of the first game, it will be interesting to see what studio One More Level can do with the bigger budget given to them for the sequel.

Last month, Nvidia and Blizzard announced plans to add Nvidia Reflex technology into Overwatch, which can reduce input latency by up to a whopping 50 percent for PC players. After a couple of weeks of testing in Overwatch's Public Test Realm servers, Reflex is officially rolling out to all Overwatch players.

Running Overwatch with Nvidia Reflex on can bring a massive 50 percent reduction to latency. In tests, a GTX 1660 Super running the game at 1440p/144Hz, total system latency reaches up to 63ms, switching Reflex on reduces that to 31ms. In the case of the RTX 2060 Super, latency drops from 47ms to 24ms and for the RTX 3080, switching Nvidia Reflex on reduces latency from 26ms to 16ms.

Overwatch players with a GTX 900 series graphics card or newer will be able to take advantage of Nvidia Reflex, which is live in Overwatch as of today.

The good news doesn't end there though, Nvidia Reflex is coming to a couple of other games soon too, with Facepunch Studios' Rust and One More Level's Ghostrunner both set to introduce the feature soon. We don't know how much of an impact Reflex will have in these games, but more details should be available in the weeks to come.

At this point, Nvidia Reflex has been implemented in most of the top-ten most played competitive shooters, as well as a few other big games. Nvidia Reflex can be further enhanced with the Reflex Latency Analyzer, which is available on some popular gaming monitors and gaming mice, you can find a list of latency analyser compatible peripherals, HERE.

GeForce Now has been getting weekly library updates since its launch out of beta and this week is no exception. This time around, we have a small number of games joining the library, but each one is a pretty big hitter, including two RTX-supported games in Watch Dogs Legion and Ghostrunner.

Watch Dogs Legion is launching today and supports both DLSS and ray-traced reflections, features that are accessible to anyone with a GeForce Now Founder's subscription, which grants access to higher-tier RTX GPU-equipped servers. Ghostrunner is also another big one, with full ray-traced lighting making all of the levels pop.

Here is the full list of games coming to GeForce Now today:

  • Watch Dogs: Legion (day-and-date release on Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect— Oct. 29)
  • Blair Witch (New Epic Games Store free game)
  • Xuan-Yuan Sword VIII (new release on Steam)
  • Ghostrunner (new release on Steam)
  • Autonauts

All of these games should appear within the GeForce Now app by the end of today, streamable across PC, Mac, Android and Chromebook.

Thursday has arrived once again, meaning it is time for another GeForce Now library update. This week is a smaller update, but it packs a punch, with big games like Spellbreak, Blade & Soul and Hunt: Showdown making their way to the library.

A short while back, Hunt: Showdown was announced for GeForce Now, only for that to be retracted as some kind of mistake. Since then, some discussions appear to have taken place, as Hunt: Showdown is officially joining GeForce Now today. Today's update also supports the latest demo for Ghostrunner, one of this holiday's big RTX showcases, with plenty of ray-tracing visuals to be gawked at.

Here is the full list of new games hitting GeForce Now today:

  • Spellbreak
  • Blade & Soul
  • Dungeon Siege
  • Hunt: Showdown

You should be able to find all of these games within the GeForce Now app starting today. Here in the UK, the games list usually updates at around 9PM BST.
