An announcement earlier this week from Nvidia regarding its GTX 1660 Super release has triggered graphics card manufacturers to lay out their own custom card versions for all to see. MSI has provided information on its GTX 16 series refresh with new GTX 1660 and 1650 Super versions being announced.

MSI has confirmed its new range of GTX 16 series cards will feature custom versions of both the GTX 1660 and 1650 Super across three product brands, including its Gaming, Ventus XS and Aero ITX series. The new Turing based cards will be equipped with excellent cooling solutions and are designed to produce higher core/memory frequencies to provide increased performance in games.

The 7th generation Twin Frozr thermal design has been tailored to cool the MSI GTX 16 Super series Gaming cards and will feature MSI’s patented TORX 3.0 fans, to provide high static pressure airflow while reducing noise levels. Customised heatsinks are designed with efficient heat dissipation in mind while providing an aggressive aesthetic, with the gunmetal grey and black colour scheme and a glow of Mystic Light RGB.

MSI’s GTX 16 series Ventus XS is a trimmed down version of the popular Ventus cards, featuring a fashionable black and silver design with sharp angles. A tried and tested twin fan solution is deployed in the Ventus XS line to provide a more concentrated airflow path and high static pressure, for enhanced cooling performance. The backplate on the Ventus XS features a brushed finish for an attractive appearance.

The MSI GTX 16 Super Aero ITX cards are designed to fit small form factor systems where space is at a premium. The Aero ITX cards measure a maximum 178mm long so are small in size but still offer big performance. The Aero ITX model features a single fan cooling solution on a compact heatsink design, with efficient heat pipes and optimised dissipation. A classy looking black and white shroud provides a pleasing appearance with carbon highlights.

The new GTX 1660 Super graphics cards from MSI are available now, with the GTX 1650 Super series expected to be available starting from 22nd November.

The post Gigabyte GTX 1660 SUPER Gaming OC 6G Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
We've heard a lot about the GTX 1660 SUPER over the last few weeks, and today the new graphics card from Nvidia has been officially announced. For launch we have two partner card reviews, but this is focused on the Gigabyte GTX 1660 SUPER Gaming OC 6G – a triple-fan, factory overclocked card that promises low temperatures and high frame rates. Is it – and 1660 SUPER as a whole – any good?

If you've been living under a rock for the last few weeks, it is very easy to summarise what Nvidia has done with the GTX 1660 SUPER – take a vanilla GTX 1660, swap out the slower GDDR5 memory for improved GDDR6 modules, and you have a GTX 1660 SUPER.

That means the TU116 GPU at the heart of the GTX 1660 is entirely unchanged – it's the same Turing architecture, it still sports 22 SMs and 1408 CUDA Cores, and there's still no RT or Tensor cores as per the RTX 20-series cards. It's purely the upgrade to G6 memory from G5 which makes this a ‘SUPER' card.

I'd also like to just clarify where the 1660 SUPER sits in Nvidia's product stack, as it is now a very busy line-up. Put simply, GTX 1660 SUPER, with a £209.99 MSRP, slots in between GTX 1660 (£199) and GTX 1660 Ti (£259). Neither the GTX 1660 or GTX 1660 Ti are being phased out according to Nvidia, but while there will be no official price cut to the GTX 1660, Nvidia does expect prices to fall naturally as a result of 1660 SUPER entering the market.

TGP 160W 120W 125W 120W 120W

We already mentioned how the only core change to the GTX 1660 is the upgraded 14Gbps GDDR6 memory, and that improves total memory bandwidth from 192.1GB/s to 336 GB/s.

Additionally, while there is no reference card per se, Nvidia did release ‘reference spec', so we can see that the Gigabyte Gaming OC 6G model for review here has been factory overclocked by 75MHz, up to 1860MHz boost.

Lastly, with what can only be a consequence of the change in memory, it is also worth noting that 1660 SUPER has a Total Graphics Power (TGP) rating of 125W, a 5W increase over the vanilla 1660.

As has become the norm, we knew pretty much everything there was to know about GTX 1660 SUPER thanks to a myriad of leaks. That said, the graphics card has been officially announced today and we have two reviews for launch day, with this article focused on Palit's 1660 SUPER GamingPro OC model. It's a dual-fan, factory overclocked model, but how does it stack up against the competition?

It seems more Nvidia GTX 1660 Super cards have been spotted online, with images, specification and pricing appearing in various places related to cards coming from EVGA, MSI, INNO3D, PNY and Maxsun.

The guys over at Videocardz posted on their website multiple images of potential Nvidia GTX 1660 Super cards coming from a range of different manufacturers. After the recent sighting of a Zotac GTX 1660 Super just a few days ago, rumour has it that the cards may even be released as early as next week.

Following on from previous rumours, the recent listings of Nvidia GTX 1660 Super cards pretty much confirm the new GPU will feature 6GB GDDR6 14 Gbps memory and the same number of CUDA cores (1408) as the non-Super models and a boost clock frequency of 1785 MHz. However, this is still to be confirmed officially by Nvidia.

From the recent round of leaks, we can expect new cards coming from various manufacturers, images of an EVGA GTX 1660 Super SC Ultra popped up on Videocardz, which look pretty real and Maxsun virtually confirmed the full specifications on its site for the GeForce GTX 1660 Super Terminator 6G, despite the fact the listing reads GTX 1660, it is clear the specs show something different.

Along with the two cards mentioned already, an MSI GTX 1660 Super Ventus card has appeared on LambdaTek to purchase for just under €305 and additionally, on the same website, an INNO3D GTX 1660 Super Twin X2 is available for around €270. PNY 1660 Super variants can also be found online with product codes VCG16606SSFPPB and VCG16606SDFPPB, which were picked up by momomo_us on twitter.

KitGuru says: It looks like we could be seeing Nvidia GTX 1660 Super GPUs coming anytime now since these leaks and rumours seem to be popping up daily. As soon as an official announcement comes from Nvidia, we will be sure to let you guys know.
