While AMD have been working hard behind the scenes on their next generation of graphics cards Nvidia have been running amok in the mid to high performance gaming sector. Today we look at three custom cooled solutions from Palit – their GTX760, GTX770 and GTX780 Jetstream Editions.

There is no doubt that the GTX760 has taken command of the affordable gaming sector around the £200 mark. We have reviewed a handful of excellent GTX760 solutions recently and it is a zone that AMD will want to be focusing on over the coming months. For the price, there is no better graphics card than the GTX760 right now.

The GTX770 is a very high performance graphics card, retailing between £310-£350 in the United Kingdom. It has been in a head to head price battle against AMD's HD7970 for the last couple of months and seems to be selling well for Nvidia partners. Until AMD get a next generation model in the market we would give our recommendation towards the Nvidia solution.

The GTX780 really stands alone. The prices range between £510 and £599 it has no direct competitor from AMD. That said, AMD have recently been driving home some amazing price reductions on the HD7990, breaking the sub £500 barrier. Technically, this is not really a fair direct comparison as the AMD HD7990 is a dual GPU design, but in regards to value for money, it is a tempting proposition. That said, as a dedicated gaming solution the GTX780 is a phenomenal video card. It is much cheaper than the flagship GTX Titan and makes more sense if all you want to do is play the latest games at high resolution.

Today we test the Palit GTX760, GTX 770 and GTX 780 Jetstream cards with a variety of games (and the latest 326.80 Beta Driver), including the latest titles such as Total War: Rome 2 and Splinter Cell Blacklist. We pair the cards up with a 30 inch Dell 3011 screen at the native resolution of 2560×1600. We know most people buying these cards will be wanting the maximum in game image quality, so today we place a focus on this.
