Aorus has been making quite the name for itself in the gaming notebook space and today, it is expanding its range with the X7 and X5S, bringing raw power in an extremely slim design with Intel Skylake processors, Nvidia graphics and the option for a 4K UHD display.

The X5S is first on the list, with a thin and light design, packing an Intel Core i7 6700HQ, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and an 8GB GTX 980m powering the 15.6″ 4K IPS display. Storage needs are also covered with a 256GB mSSD and a 1TB HDD, coming in at £2099.99.

Aorus

Next up is the Aorus X7 Pro, which focusses on packing in a ton of power with an Intel Core i7 6820HK, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a 512GB NVMe SSD and dual GTX 970m GPUs running in SLI. There is also a 17.3-inch 1080p display with Nvidia G-Sync technology, allowing the GPUs to control the screen's refresh rate while gaming. This one hits retail at £2399.99 so it is definitely a pricey investment.

KitGuru Says: While both laptops are expensive, they certainly pack in some high-performance components. Are any of you currently looking into grabbing a gaming laptop? Do you have any experience with Aorus?

Razer has consistently impressed over the last few years with its 14-inch gaming notebook known as the Razer Blade and today, it has refreshed the laptop with new specifications. The new Razer Blade gets bumped up to Intel's latest Skylake Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor, it also gets a bump in RAM with 16GB of memory running at 2133MHz.

The new Razer Blade still sports a 3200×1800 display but the body has shaved some weight off, coming in at 4.25 pounds at just 0.7-inches thick.

As with the previous model, the Razer Blade comes in a 256GB and a 512GB SSD model but both come with the same Nvidia GTX 970M graphics card, which has 6GB of VRAM. If you need more graphics power while at home, then this new Razer Blade does come with a Thunderbolt 3 port, which means it will support the Razer Core external graphics amplifier.

Finally, the new Razer Blade also comes with a fully RGB keyboard just like the new Razer Blade Stealth ultrabook. Pre-orders go live from tomorrow at $2000 for the 256GB and $2200 for the 512GB version.

KitGuru Says: We have reviewed the Razer Blade in the past and were very impressed with it. I must admit, if I were in the market for a new laptop and I had that sort of cash, I would be tempted to spring for the Razer Blade. Do any of you own a gaming laptop?

The jump to the Core i7 6700HQ processor provides a 20 per cent performance boost over the previous Core i7 4720HQ, while also being 50 per cent faster than other U-series Core i7 chips.

It packs a decent punch in the graphics department as well, with the GTX 970m, which delivers pretty solid performance at 1080p, as shown by some of our previous gaming notebook reviews.

Razer has updated its Blade 14 inch gaming notebook for 2015, swapping out the old GTX 870m graphics chip for the new Maxwell based GTX 970m with improved power consumption capabilities. The laptop will also be available with a 1080p screen now as well as the 3200×1800 display introduced last year.

The Intel Core i7 CPU has also been updated and double the RAM is now available, making for a pretty powerful machine at just 0.7″ thick. The Intel Core i7 4720HQ is typically found in larger notebooks according to Razer. It runs at 2.6GHz standard and turbo boosts all the way up to 3.6GHz.

The Razer Blade 14 now comes with 16GB of RAM and can have up to 512GB of SSD storage for speed, Razer does not include a mechanical hard drive.

So how does Razer cram so much power in to such a small package? The company appears to be pretty proud of its ‘touch point' thermal cooling system, which directs heat away from the surfaces you are most likely to touch, allowing other parts of the laptop to get hotter than others.

The 3200×1800 version of this laptop will include a touch screen, while the 1080p model will not. You can read more about the Blade 14, HERE.

The new Razer Blade 14 starts off at $1999.99 for the full HD model with a fixed 256GB of SSD storage. The QHD version starts at $2199.99 with 128GB of SSD storage, although this can be upgraded to 512GB.

KitGuru Says: The Razer Blade laptop is only available in a few territories, most notably the US, so UK residents might be out of luck without spending extra on postage and custom charges. What do you guys think of the Razer Blade? Any of you own one?
