AMD's HD6970 has been a popular card since it was launched and some partners have been releasing modified versions based on the AMD reference design. Today we are looking at a rather spectacular design from MSI which features the latest update on their high performance Twin Frozr cooler.

KitGuru has looked at many of the Twin Frozr designs in the past, and we have found that they always deliver class leading cooling performance while emitting very little noise.

The MSI R6970 Lightning Twin Frozr III graphics card has the newest version of the cooler with improved heatpipe design and the world's first 18 Phase PWM design. With a generous overclock to 940mhz, is this the best HD6970 available on the market today?

Well hopefully by now you have had the chance to read our launch day coverage of the HD6970 and HD6950 cards. Sapphire have just announced three HD6970's being released today.

All of the cards are clocked at reference speeds and are supplied with reference coolers however as with all launch day hardware this is to be expected.

The standard, ‘entry level' HD 6970 will cost £290 inc vat. The ‘Gaming Edition' card will ship with a code to download Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam. This will be £10 more and comes supplied with a custom sticker featuring Battlefield artwork.

The last bundle is a Special Edition of the HD6970 with the same Gaming Edition extras but in an aluminum carry case, priced at £319 inc vat.

Sapphire certainly seem to have all the bases covered, but like most of you, we will be waiting for the sexy customised Toxic/Vapor X Editions at a later date.
