Over the weekend alongside the Overwatch League Grand Finals, Blizzard revealed the next hero coming to Overwatch 2. In keeping with the company's plan to introduce a new hero every season, in December, alongside the game's Season 2 update, players will be greeted by a new tank hero.

Ramattra will be the next hero coming to Overwatch 2. This time around, Ramattra seems poised to be a tank with shield abilities.

In the Origin Story video, we learn more about Ramattra, a war machine leader of the Null Sector on a mission to create a better world for Omnics no matter the cost. Initially, Ramattra was a peaceful character that would primarily shield allies, but a switch flipped after encountering the harsh realities of battle.

We don't have any gameplay details yet, so we don't know what loadout or abilities the new hero will have. The background lore for the character indicates a shield ability, but that's all we can really guess for now. Season 2 kicks off on the 6th of December, so we'll all get the chance to try out the new character then. As we saw with Overwatch 2's first-season hero, Kiriko, there will be a grind in place to unlock Ramattra. If you buy the season pass, you'll unlock the new hero instantly. If not, you'll have to grind up to level 55 to unlock them for your roster.

Since its original release back in 2016, Overwatch has always been backed by free content updates, giving buyers access to new heroes and maps without the need for additional grinding or expense. That will unfortunately be changing in Overwatch 2 – new heroes will still be free, but you'll have to go through the Battle Pass grind to obtain them.

Details about Blizzard's battle pass plans leaked recently, with Overwatch commercial leader, Jon Spector, later confirming one of the details on Twitter – new heroes will be unlocked through the battle pass. This has immediately led to concern about the potential grind to unlock new heroes, as well as the amount it would cost to ‘skip tiers' in order to unlock a new hero faster.

Of course, having any kind of friction in the hero unlocking process can be a big deal for Overwatch. This is a competitive shooter where hero selection is as important as knowing your role and being able to aim. If some players are locked out of choosing an important character because they didn't progress the battle pass, or don't have the money to outright unlock the character, then that is going to make the game less fun, especially for matchmade games, as it will be harder for new teams to organise properly.

This follows a lengthy summer of concern for Overwatch 2. The game's initial beta was met with disappointment due to the game's switch to 5v5 gameplay, which took an element of strategy out of the game for many. The lack of secondary tank on each team also brought to light weaknesses in support characters, making the role much harder to play compared to the original Overwatch.

KitGuru Says: Overwatch 2 is making some good changes, such as moving away from loot boxes, but everything else seems to be in disarray, with a huge disconnect between what fans actually wanted to see, and Blizzard higher-ups.

Since noblechairs first burst on to the scene, the company has become well known for its real leather and faux leather gaming chairs, but what about those that prefer fabric? Today, noblechairs is launching its new TX series gaming chairs, swapping out leather for a breathable fabric in a two-tone design.

The noblechairs TX series uses fabric and fleece backing to offer comfort and breathability. It also has a stain-resistant coating, which should make the chair easier to clean after any food or drink spills.

The noblechairs TX series will be available in three versions to start off with, the EPIC model, the HERO model and the ICON model. The EPIC model uses silver inserts and black badges, while the HERO model features built-in adjustable lumbar support and memory foam in the head rest. The ICON TX is the sleekest of the bunch, offering a simpler curved, understated design.

Currently, all three models are expected to begin shipping via Overclockers UK in mid-August. Pricing starts at £329.99 for the EPIC TX, £339.95 for the ICON TX and £364.99 for the HERO TX.

Z590 is still fresh to the market and may appeal to users who have reason to buy the Intel platform. As such, we are taking a look at three ASUS ROG Z590 motherboards in the premium end of the market – the ROG STRIX Z590-I Gaming WiFi, the ROG STRIX Z590-E Gaming WiFi, and the ROG Maximus XIII Hero.

The three specific motherboards that we are examining are the ROG STRIX Z590-I Gaming WiFi, the ROG STRIX Z590-E Gaming WiFi, and the ROG Maximus XIII Hero.

ASUS' ROG STRIX Z590-I Gaming WiFi is a premium mini-ITX motherboard that comes in at around £320 in the UK. The ROG STRIX Z590-E Gaming WiFi is an upper-mid range ATX board with many enthusiast features and costs around £340 typically. And the roughly £460 Maximus XIII Hero effectively sits in enthusiast territory as we have seen from ASUS’ recent promotion of the Hero SKU up the product stack.

Let's take a closer look at each of these ROG Z590 motherboards.

noblechairs is releasing a brand-new addition to its range today. The Black Edition is the latest update to noblechairs EPIC, ICON and HERO series of high-quality PC gaming chairs and introduces all-new features to the brand.

The Black Edition is branded with the slogan ‘Always Breathing’ which is a reference to its construction using a hybrid material that combines the benefits of both PU and PVC. This innovative design provides excellent airflow no matter how you sit, meaning even during prolonged use users will sweat less, eliminating that unpleasant feeling.

The material used in the Black Edition offers a more breathable and comfortable experience from its air and water permeability. With innovative active breathing properties, the Black Edition from noblechairs provides ventilation without the need for perforation. The hybrid material offers a soft feel like napa leather, which makes it more comfortable than traditional gaming chairs made from PU or PVC.

The hybrid material looks so good, it is difficult to distinguish this man-made material from real leather. The material is tear-proof, durable, abrasion-resistant, fire-resistant and easy to clean. Being a lightfast material means it isn't prone to discolouration damage when exposed to light. All these great features combined means that noblechairs should still look in great shape after many years of use.

Not only does the Black Edition look great, it is also environmentally friendly too. Its entirely man-made construction means it is animal-friendly and 100% vegan, with a low emissions footprint from the production process due to responsible energy use, unlike gaming chairs made from PVC which require petroleum and large amounts of energy to produce.

Additional features of the noblechairs Black Edition:

  • Hybrid material featuring a premium matt finish.
  • Minimalistic stitching characteristic of the Black Edition.
  • Bundled noblechairs head and lumbar pillow.
  • New 4D armrests enhanced with metal buttons and soft padding.
  • Stainless steel reclining lever.
  • High-quality rocking mechanism.
  • Certified ergonomic comfort.
  • Quiet 60mm casters for hard and carpet flooring.
  • Even easier to clean.
  • Exquisite metallic harness holes (EPIC Series only).
  • Adjustable lumbar support and memory foam headrest built inside the chair (HERO Series only).

noblechairs Black Edition’s will be available to purchase in the UK from Overlockers, the EPIC Black Edition will set you back £375. If you are interested in purchasing one, then head over to our review section where we take an in-depth look at how the noblechairs EPIC Black Edition performs.

Positioned towards the upper end of the Z390 market, ASUS is targeting deep-pocketed enthusiast gamers with its most affordable ATX ROG Maximus offering. Sporting features you'd expect from a premium Z390 offering, including dual heatsink-cooled M.2 slots and an eye-catching design, ASUS takes the standard ROG Maximus XI Hero and adds a 2×2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi adapter.

The aptly named ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) hits the shopping basket at around £280 – a territory that ensures stiff competition from ASRock's Z390 Phantom Gaming flagship in addition to well-equipped Gigabyte and MSI offerings.

There should be no reason to be deceived by the Hero (Wi-Fi) motherboard's bottom-rung position on ASUS premium ROG Maximus XI ladder. As one would expect, a variety of expansion and connectivity options are present through ASUS' provision of three full-length PCIe x16 slots, alongside the generous Z390 PCH inclusions.

And the fact that ASUS brands this motherboard as part of its Republic of Gamers line means that enhanced UEFI and software features are to be expected. Likewise, styling is depictive of what we have come to expect from premium Z390 offerings, with an integrated IO shield and splashes of RGB lighting complimenting the dark-black theme.

Durability and cooling performance are key points that ASUS highlights for the ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi). Rigid SafeSlot connectors tick the durability box while a hefty, somewhat finned (barely) VRM heatsink aims to alleviate power delivery over-temperature concerns. More on the topic of the VRM later in this review.

With the zippy 802.11ac Intel 9560 wireless adapter pushing the retail price anxiously close to £300, can the ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) prove itself as a viable premium Z390 contender?

Features (information taken from the ASUS webpage):

  • LGA1151 socket for 9th/8th -gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors
  • Synchronised RGB lighting technology works with a vast portfolio of Aura Sync-capable PC gear and includes support for addressable light strips and Phillip Hue
  • Perfected cooling with dedicated water header zones, M.2 heatsink and various fan control
  • Gaming connectivity: Intel Gigabit Ethernet , LANGuard, dual M.2, USB 3.1 Gen 2, Wi-Fi with MU-MI-MO 802.11
  • Extensive overclocking options with easy automated one-click overclock, to advanced finer control in the BIOS
  • Gaming Audio: SupremeFX and Sonic Studio III – High fidelity audio that draws you deeper into the action
  • Gaming durability: ASUS SafeSlot and premium components for maximum durability

Official Overwatch pages have been sent into overdrive as of late, dropping hints and teasers at what many suspect to be upcoming hero number 27. Given that already-established hero Torbjörn is the centre of a lot of these, his daughter Brigitte Lindholm is expected to be the one to step up and join the team despite her initial misgivings.

The first teaser came as a declassified after-action report on the official Twitter page, recounting a time in which Torbjörn Lindholm was badly injured in an ambush during operation “White Dome,” and subsequently saved by his brother in arms, Reinhardt Wilhelm. This was the incident in which Torbjörn lost his arm.

Accompanying this is the second teaser of Torbjörn’s letter to his wife while holed up in hospital, recovering from the operation. The main point of the letter was to apologise for not consulting his wife when jokingly saying to Reinhardt that he could name their then-unborn child. While the letter is in Torbjörn’s native Swedish tongue, Blizzard offers an official English translation that can be seen below:

My dear Ingrid,

I know that by now you have gotten news of my injuries in our latest mission. While the descriptions may sound terrible, the doctors are quite sure I'll make a full recovery. Even Angela came to visit me! On the matter of my arm, I promise to make it my first priority to construct a suitable prosthesis that will make everyone forget that it was ever gone. If only Angela's dreams of tissue regeneration were a reality! I told her she should be working harder!

They tell me that you have not yet gone into labor, so I am holding out hope that I will be able to be by your side back home in Gothenburg when the time comes. Just wait a little longer for me!

You may have heard that Reinhardt is responsible for saving my life. I've heard the story at least four different times myself, already, each time more unbelievable than the last. Exaggerations, as you know how he can be. All the same, they've decided to award him a commendation for “conspicuous bravery.” Could two words better describe the big oaf?

He has been bothering me insufferably at my bedside. Half in jest, I suggested that if it would shut him up, I would allow him to name our daughter, as he has been badgering me about it these past months. He, of course, took me at my word. Truth be told, I had been considering making him her godfather, and I hope you'll forgive me for making this decision without your consultation. We can only hope she doesn't take after him too much.

I told him that you would have to agree to any name he chose, so let’s hope it's a good one (though I fear that may be beyond his abilities, given some of the ridiculous names he gives the characters in his “true stories”). I'm getting sick of this hospital, so I am hoping to return soon.

Love,
Torbjörn

The child he is speaking of is expected to be Brigitte Lindholm, who was last seen during an animated short called Honor and Glory advising Reinhardt not to rejoin the Overwatch team as she feels they tossed him aside. Blizzard does have a tendency of showcasing heroes before they are officially announced to appear as a part of the playable roster, as seen with Moira who appeared obscured in a Doomfist comic prior to her launch.

The third and final teaser for the time being is a tweet showcasing the schematics for a new blunt hammer-like weapon called the “Slaga v3.0” that looks similar to something that either Torbjörn or Reinhardt would wield. Within the frame, however, there is also a toy mouse and a ginger paw, presumably from a cat, trying to reach it.

Of course, none of this is set in stone and while Overwatch is right on track to see the release of a new hero, this could simply be updates for those that enjoy the lore of its characters. Take this information with a pinch of salt until Blizzard officially reveal what it has in store.

KitGuru Says: While I am not the biggest Overwatch fan, I do love how Blizzard treats its lore. Even if this was simply attention to detail rather than a new hero dropping, it would still be something that the fans can enjoy. Whoever appears as the next hero, what do you want to see from them?

ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero (X370) Motherboard Review https://www.kitguru.net/components/motherboard/luke-hill/asus-rog-crosshair-vi-hero-x370-motherboard-review/ https://www.kitguru.net/components/motherboard/luke-hill/asus-rog-crosshair-vi-hero-x370-motherboard-review/#comments Tue, 28 Mar 2017 07:59:00 +0000 http://www.kitguru.net/?p=325956 A high-end AM4 motherboard with plenty of features on offer.

The post ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero (X370) Motherboard Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
ASUS' Crosshair VI Hero is currently flying the flag for the Republic of Gamers (ROG) range on AMD's new AM4 platform. Sporting the X370 chipset and a healthy power delivery system to feed thirsty Ryzen CPUs, ASUS' premium ATX motherboard also comes equipped with RGB lighting, onboard M.2, and an internal 10Gbps USB 3.1 header.

Bolstered by the feature-heavy nature of AMD's new X370 chipset, the ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero is able to tick a number of boxes that will appeal to mainstream enthusiasts and prosumers. There's support for a pair of high-bandwidth graphics cards in CrossFire and SLI, a dozen power delivery phases for the CPU and SOC rails, and controllable RGB lighting alongside two 4-pin strip headers. On the storage side, the Hero sports a single 32Gbps PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 connector, 10Gbps USB 3.1 from multiple sources, and eight SATA 6Gbps ports for media junkies.

ASUS gives thought to fan control by deploying seven 4-pin headers, each with individual adjustment capability. A unique cooling-driven feature is the inclusion of AM3 mounting holes that allow long-time AMD users to bring their old CPU cooler along for the Ryzen ride. This is particularly useful to consumers who have a CPU cooler or liquid cooling block that hasn't been updated to support AM4 mounting.

With a vast array of features and what looks to be a strong power delivery system, how will ASUS‘ roughly £250 ROG Crosshair VI Hero perform in our testing?

Features (taken from the ASUS product page):

  • Aura Sync RGB LED: Stunning synchronised effects and two Aura 4-pin RGB-strip headers
  • SupremeFX: Exclusive new codec plus intuitive Sonic Studio III and Sonic Radar III
  • Compatible with both AM3/AM4 coolers and LN2 pots
  • ROG Water Cooling Zone : Dominate your cooling system
  • 5-Way Optimisation: One-click system-wide overclocking.
  • Best gaming networking: Intel® Gigabit Ethernet, LANGuard and GameFirst technologies
  • Best gaming connectivity: M.2, USB 3.1 front-panel connector and both USB 3.1 Type-A/C
  • Best gaming durability: Safeslot and premium components for maximum durability

GoPro, the company behind the popular HERO range of small, easily mountable cameras, is currently developing a consumer grade drone with a HD camera attached according to new reports. Sources are currently saying that the company is going to start selling ‘multi-rotor helicopters equipped with cameras', these will cost between £316 and £632 ($500 to $1000).

Many drone users already attach cameras to their copters in order to capture flight footage or to take high definition areal photography. GoPro is in a very good position to sell its cameras bundled with drones, the latest HERO4 camera is capable of shooting 4K video at 30 frames per second or 1080p at 120 frames per second. The camera can also take 8.3 mega pixel still images.

Given GoPro's popularity and reputation for high quality cameras, the company is in a good position to release its own drone capable of high quality areal shots.

While drones are growing in popularity in the consumer market thanks to hobbyists, the commercial market is also on the rise with companies like Amazon and DHL planning to deliver packages via unmanned drones.

KitGuru Says: GoPro is in a good position to launch its own quad-copter/drone. What do you guys think of this? Do any of you guys have a quad copter?
