While Research In Motion's BlackBerry 10 platform is still a few months away from launching, a fellow smartphone struggler may join in. HTC was once the dominant Android manufacturer and have since slipped behind Samsung. Their Windows Phone 7 line-up, while of a decent quality has not been able to match the likes of Nokia's Lumia series.

Now, HTC might even jump onto a third mobile platform in the form of BlackBerry 10.

“I don’t have any knowledge but that is not to say we are not looking at it. But from my point of view we are not saying we are closed to a new operating system. We will review each one to make sure it’s the best for our customers,” said Graham Wheeler, director of product management at HTC for EMEA, when asked about RIM licensing its BlackBerry OS.

HTC is hosting a press event later this week and while it is unlikely to announce any BlackBerry devices there, the possibility is apparent. Instead we will see their Windows Phone 8 lineup for the first time, as well as some new Android smartphones.

KitGuru says: Could BlackBerry 10 be what HTC needs to regain traction in the market? We wouldn't rule it out.
