With a huge release of updated AMD products in Q4 this year, many manufacturers decided to launch with standard coolers (reference design). When KitGuru looks back across all of the new Radeons, one cooling solutions stands out – and that is the Toxic cooler fitted to the R9 280X and R9 270X.

When you look at the Thermal Dynamics of the Sapphire R9 280X Toxic Edition, you can see that when you're engaged in hardcore, full HD gaming – it can be up to 10 degrees cooler than rival cards.

What makes it more remarkable, is that this cooling is achieved while noise output remains around average for the group of cards it competes with.

So that's a cool looking card (style -wise), that is actually around 10 degrees cooler (thermal dynamics-wise) – without a significant increase in noise?

Impressive.

If you were wondering exactly where the improvements came from, here is Sapphire's Bill Donnelly with an explanation:-

KitGuru says: It will cost you a bit more than a reference card, but it will deliver much more than a reference card. One of the most impressive cooling solutions we have ever seen.

To conclude our Haswell series of launch videos, we have the company's workhorse product – the Z87-C. It will support any single graphic card (including dual-GPU versions), but in terms of multi-card support your only option is AMD Radeons in CrossFire formation. How much of a drawback is that?  Let's take a look.

While the review reaction to Haswell has not been as universally loving as it was for Sandy Bridge, there is no doubt that Intel's production techniques will improve and this chip will become the mainstay of the enthusiast market for the next year or so.

Inside the Asus regional HQ building, KitGuru's cameras were invited along to an unboxing walk-through of the new Z87-C mainboard:-

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ycro4kyVrs']

KitGuru says: Given that only a small percentage of systems use SLi or CrossFire, the limited multi-card support is not likely to be a problem for most gamers on a budget.

As part of our extensive series of in-depth videos around the top Asus mainboards that are being produced for Intel's 4th Generation Core processor, we take a look at the Asus Z87-A with an engineer from regional HQ. What does this board offer?

As you move from mainboard to mainboard, within any company's range, there will be a corresponding increase in performance around – say – the power control system.

Will that actually impact your ability to use the board?  In a lot of cases, the answer is no. Sure, if you want to engage in serious overclocking, then you will need to play with voltages – but a lot of people will not overclock at all – or only apply the kind of overclock you can get by tweaking the bus speed etc.

Have a look inside the highly affordable Asus 87-A with KitGuru:-

KitGuru says: While the ‘C' model provides an even lower cost model, there is no support for SLi. If you're an nVidia fan on a budget, then Asus has aimed the Z87-A squarely at you.

When you're the biggest mainboard company in town, it's right that you should spend time ‘shooting for the stars'. At the same time, you also need to think about customers who DO want the latest in Z87 chipset technology – but who don't want to spend the price of a laptop on their mainboard. KitGuru's cameras were invited along to the Asus Regional HQ for some engineer-led unboxing action. Here's the latest: The Asus Z87 Pro mainboard..

A lot of the software that comes bundles with modern boards will be similar. The question of what you can do with it will, largely, come down to the physical components available on the mainboard itself.

Moving from the more entry-level ‘A' and ‘C' models, the Pro does exactly what it says on the tin: It offers some professional class options in terms of physical hardware to enable overclocking the Haswell ‘K' processors.

KitGuru says: If you're looking for higher clocks with increased stability – without breaking the bank – then this product is aimed at you.

As the biggest manufacturer of mainboards for the technology-lovers market, Asus has quite a reputation to uphold during the launch of Intel's Z87 chipset for its 4th Generation of Core processors. KitGuru was lucky enough to get its cameras inside the regional HQ for Asus, while one of its engineers took us through the key hardware and software features of the Asus Z87 Sabertooth mainboard.

.
One of the most unusual designs of recent times, the Sabertooth version of the Z87 mainboard from Asus comes with ‘thermal armor'.

This is a system of covers for various parts of the mainboard that, paradoxically, help reduce temperatures.

In most life-situations, we cover things to retain heat.

But, when it comes to mainboards, you can use covers to intelligently route cool air across hot components.

The real-world analogy would be a comparison of trying to stay cool by (a) laying on the floor and hoping heat leaves your body or (b) sitting in a cupboard with a fan at the top and the bottom pushing air over you. While most of us would probably lay down, sitting in the box is more effective.

Following on from our popular look at the Asus Maximus VI Extreme board, check out this in-depth run through of what makes the Z87 Sabertooth from Asus so special. If you're serious about a high-end, overclocked Haswell built – then this is for you:-

.
KitGuru says: It looks good and weighing in around the £195 mark, this KitGuru Must Have mainboard is a serious contender if you're planning on buying a Core i7 4770k.

After finally taking Noctua off the top of the cooling tree, Phanteks has now swung its attention to creating the ultimate chassis. A second video that delves deep inside the new case has just been released into the wild. KitGuru sits back with the popcorn for this 2 minute 24 second feature.

Given the limitations on modern chassis design, it's quite incredible how companies carry on launching new models, with new features and – overall – we can still tell them all apart.

The Phanteks Enthoo Primo Eltimate is easy to spot and, according to their engineers, will outperform much of the opposition.

So, here it is, well worth 2:24 of anygeek's life:-

As the vast array of mainboards arrive in the market, one thing is for sure: There will be no shortage of choice with Intel's Haswell technology. A while back, KitGuru cameras were invited into the heart of Asus' HQ to find out more about the world's number one mainboard manufacturer's upcoming designs. We're starting at the top with the Asus Maximus VI – Extreme version.

While the videos we have for you on the Sabertooth, Pro, A and C variants on the Z87 mainboard are interesting, we decided to kick off with the all singing, all dancing Maximus VI.

As the name suggests, this is the 6th board to carry the name and it certainly aims to be a lot more advanced than its predecessors.

Enough with the intro, here's the mainboard itself – presented by an Asus engineer- in detail:-

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP68-cqFe8M'] .

KitGuru says: It's an impressive box with plenty to get excited about. From the early reviews on KitGuru and elsewhere, it's clear that getting the best from Haswell needs a level of fine tuning that is degrees above what was needed with Sandy Bridge etc. With it's Maximus VI Extreme, Asus is taking no chances or prisoners.
