AMD has yet to announce the rumoured Radeon RX 6000 refresh, but there have been a number of leaks recently. If you're looking for further proof, PowerColor recently listed the RX 6750XT Red Devil for certification.

As spotted by @harukaze5719, PowerColor recently submitted a Radeon RX 6750 XT to the RRA, a South Korean agency. The card is listed under the name “AXRX 6750XT 12GBD6-3DHEOC” and was registered on March 29th, 2022. The name shows this card is a Radeon RX 6750XT model and confirms it will have 12GB of GDDR6 memory, the same as the Radeon RX 6700XT cards.

As for how the leaker knows that this is the Red Devil model, that's due to the  ‘3DHEOC' in the card's name. A quick Google search using the term will retrieve multiple results of other PowerColor Red Devil cards.

Rumours claim AMD will launch the refreshed Radeon RX 6000 series SKUs on May 10th, meaning an announcement should come before that. However, the ongoing COVID situation in China might have delayed some of the company's plans regarding the upcoming GPUs.

Compared to the original Radeon RX 6700XT, the refreshed RX 6750XT should share the same specs. This includes the Navi 22 GPU with 2560 stream processors and the 12GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit memory bus. However, the upcoming card should feature 18Gbps memory instead of 16Gbps.

In the aftermath of the massive recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone over issues with its batteries, South Korea has announced new rules to safeguard against such a problem in the future. Safety requirements and new regular inspections of manufacturing facilities will come into play in the near future, making sure we don't see such issues again.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 recall was one of the worst in the history of tech. It cost the company billions for the actual recall and scrapping of the phone, billions more in stock price and possibly more than 10 billion in damage to its brand. It turned out that the batteries causing the fires and explosions had two errors in their design, leading to shorting out in both instances.

To make sure that doesn't happen again, South Korea's Minister for Trade has said that all lithium-ion batteries would be subject to more tests and checks and that the manufacturers of those batteries would receive greater insight. It's not clear at this time how this will affect batteries produced overseas or for other industries, such as those produced in the Tesla Gigafactory 1 in the U.S..

“We ask that the industry shares the view that making efforts to ensure safety is equally as critical as developing new products through technological innovation,” vice minister Jeong Marn-ki said in the statement (via Reuters).

As it was a Samsung subsidiary – Samsung SDI Co. LTD – which was one of the suppliers of faulty batteries for the Note 7, it will receive specific attention from regulators moving forward, to make sure that it adheres to new testing standards.

Korean MMO Black Desert, is set to finally arrive in the west sometime later this year, with the last beta opening up in February for those who pre-order specific packages. In the mean time though, the developers have released the game's character creation module for free. Considering Black Desert's customisation system has been hailed by many as the best in the world, it will be interesting to see what people come up with.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvALq8G48Fk']

We first wrote about Black Desert back in 2014 when it first launched in Korea, where it's received a number of accolades for its seamless world and high-fidelity visuals. However it's the character creator that has received the most press, as the people it helps create are not only astoundingly detailed, but heavily customisable too.

Bone structure can be altered, hair colour and placement, facial expressions, fullness of muscles, flesh and bone. All of it is tweakable and it can lead to some amazingly lifelike creations, as well as some bizarrely less so. Some attempts at recreating celebrities in the engine have been rather successful in the past too.

There is a point to playing around with the engine though, beyond just seeing what strange ‘people' you can create, because when the game is made available in February or later on in its full capacity, you'll be able to import your custom creations straight into it. This gives you extra time to play with settings at your pleasure, knowing you have enough space to touch on all the options, not just quickly blast through them to get to the game.

Black Desert's beta launches on 18th February, with a final release on PC later this year (thanks PCG)

KitGuru Says: That's the only difficult thing with editors like this. When you buy a new game and want to get playing, often it can become tiresome fiddling with character creation, especially if it's highly detailed. Now though you can take your time with Black Desert and get everything ready.

For the past couple of years, Korea has been head of the pack when it comes to professional League of Legends play, with two out of the top three teams last year hailing from the small nation. However that may no longer be the case, as Chinese team Edward Gaming has managed to beat South Korean standout SKTelecom T1 in a mid-season Invitational tournament, taking home $100,000 in prize money for their efforts.

“We had a positive mentality going into Game 5. And I think we did the best at bans and picks for Game 5,” said a team spokesperson (via Lolesports). The pre-game champion selection process did indeed play into EDG's hands, with opposing number Faker picking LeBlanc after being baited into it, giving EDG's PawN the opportunity to counter-pick Morgana with a build specifically designed to be a problem for his opponent.

It paid off, as after the fifth game EDG walked away with the prize money and other mid-season awards.

However there is some discussion in the LoL community about whether this is a legitimate win for Chinese teams. Since SK's dominance last year, many Chinese firms have offered large monetary contracts to sign on some of their best players. EDG for example, hired on PawN from Samsung Galaxy White, which won the World Championships in 2014. While he took the mid-lane spot, fellow Samsung Galaxy White player Deft, also joined as AD Carry.

Some wondered if it was as easy as bringing over better players, suggesting that the team may not gel as well with more international players and their egos, but clearly that wasn't the case.

KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to see how South Korea responds if every time it builds a great team, the players are bought away by other well funded teams.

League of Legends might be set to see its biggest MOBA, esports competitor gain a big new following of not only players, but viewers too, as Valve's DotA 2 has now been officially launched in Korea, thanks to the help of Nexon. This makes the second time the two developer/publishers have worked together to this end, as Nexon has already helped Valve launch the game in Japan.

“We are very excited to launch this highly-anticipated title in the Korean market,” said Seungwoo Choi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nexon. “Nexon and Valve’s successful partnership has created the opportunity to continue the Dota franchise’s worldwide momentum and provide players in Korea with AAA content.”

Korea will be a good test for DotA 2, as the country practically considers gaming its national past time. As well as increasing player numbers in the base game, it should make for a more competitive professional scene as no doubt Korean teams will already be looking to enter the already lucrative pro tournaments.

Nexon has somewhat of a history of handling local publication of Western games in Eastern markets. It was in charge of the Japanese release of Eve Online and also the first and second Korean and Japanese versions of Counter Strike, called Counter Strike Online.

KitGuru Says: This deal announced was almost a year ago, so it's good to see it finally come to fruition. How many League of Legends players will come over to Valve's game though, remains to be seen.
