While the majority of minds were focused on the Samsung Galaxy S III last night, LG has attempted to steal some of Samsung's thunder by announcing the Optimus LTE 2. If you ask us, LG has succeeded; the latest Optimus smartphone is the first Android device to have a 2 gigabytes of memory. LG says this extra memory should stabilise performance when running multiple applications simultaneously.

LG's Optimus LTE 2 has a impressive 2 gigabytes of memory

The joys don't end there however, the LTE 2 will have a True HD IPS, although the translated press release does not mention any more information on the display than that. Since it is equipped with LTE for the South Korean market, Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset will likely be on hand to keep things ticking over. LG's latest attempt will also have a 2150 mAh battery and will last 40% longer than the original Optimus LTE (more commonly known as the LG Nitro HD). Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be present from launch day.

There will also be a wireless charging pad accessory available that links up with an integrated inductive charging coil within the phone. If you are based in South Korea the three major carriers you can expect to see the Optimus LTE 2 in mid-May. No word on an international or a USA launch but anything is possible.

KitGuru says: 2 gigabytes of memory on a smartphone? May the number-orientated specification wars live on.
