There are a few last gen hits waiting to launch on Nintendo Switch this year. We've got hints that the BioShock trilogy is coming but first, Metro Redux will be coming out, bundling remasters for Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light.

The Metro Redux bundle launched on PC and Xbox One/PS4 a few years ago, updating the graphics and bumping the console versions to 1080p/60fps. Gameplay improvements also came with the release of Redux, allowing players to go through Metro 2033 using Last Light's updating stealth mechanics.

We don't know what resolution or frame rate these games will run at on the Nintendo Switch but there will be a physical release that includes both games on a single 16GB cartridge. You can pick up Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux individually through the eShop too.

Currently, Metro Redux is due to launch on Nintendo Switch on the 28th of February.

KitGuru Says: The Metro series is one of my favourites of the last decade. I just replayed Metro 2033 quite recently, but I might be tempted to revisit Last Light once it comes to Switch. Are any of you thinking about picking this one up?

There was plenty going on at the venue, we  got to take a look at some games, tech demos and hardware, there was also a bar and a couple of giveaways, what more could you want?
GAME24 Stage
GAME24 World of Tanks

Around the edge of the room were several gaming machines running the likes of World of Tanks, Metro Redux, Dying Light and Ubisoft's upcoming racing title, The Crew on G-Sync monitors.

GAME24 Shield Tablet 2 GAME24 Shield Tablet

The recently released Shield Tablet was also on display, utilizing the Nvidia Game Stream feature. One lucky attendee got to take one of these home, bundled with the smart cover and controller.

GAME24 Project Cars GTX 980 3-way SLI

The party wouldn't have been complete without some new systems featuring the new Maxwell based GTX 980 flagship GPU. This particular machine featured three of the cards in SLI, running a demo of Project Cars.

OCUK GTX 980 System

Overclockers UK brought along some new systems built around Nvidia's new GPUs, which were definitely a highlight. The system in this image is actually already on sale, its called the ‘Ultima Marble‘ and features an Intel Core i7 5930K CPU. You can take a look at OCUK's range of pre-built PCs, HERE.

GAME24 Parvum System

The guys from Parvum systems were also floating around. They brought along a customized GAME 24 version of their S2.0 Micro ATX case and as always, the build looks awesome.

GAME24 Sponsors

GAME24 was certainly a successful event, the turnout was excellent and the hardware on display was incredible. We don't know if Nvidia plans on making this an annual thing but if it does, then you should definitely consider making the journey next time around.

You can read our GTX 980 review, HERE. Spoiler alert, its a fantastic overclocker.

We also have some reviews up for the MSI Gaming 4G GTX 970 and the Asus STRIX OC GTX 970.

KitGuru Says: Did any of you guys manage to make it to one of the GAME24 venues? Did you watch the live stream at all?

It turns out that a fair few people are unhappy with the way Metro Redux has been priced over on the Steam forums. However, 4A Games has stepped in to address concerns and actually gave the best possible advice- vote with your wallet.

Metro Redux is a re-make primarily intended for the next gen consoles but there are still benefits to buying on the PC. 4A Games went ahead and listed a few, including an updated 4A Engine, which adds in “Global Illumination and terrain tessellation, as well numerous performance enhancements” in addition to a few other minor features.

Metro Last Light has been upgraded to run in the updated 4A engine but the true star of the show is Metro 2033, which has been completely re-built. Cut scenes have been improved and levels have been seamlessly stitched together to remove loading screens.

“For sure, Metro 2033 Redux is a far more significant upgrade over the original than Metro: Last Light Redux (and we're not trying to pretend otherwise).”

Those who own Metro 2033 already can buy the Redux version at 50 per cent off. The same deal is present for those who own Metro Last Light although the offer isn't as compelling- especially if you already own the DLC for the game.

4A Games has said that it couldn't just upgrade the previous version of Metro Last Light to the Redux version through a patch due to technical limitations: “Because of the changes to the engine, which necessitated dropping 32-bit support; we literally could not ‘patch' the game.”

In the end, those who are unhappy with the pricing are free to vote with their wallets: “a flat 50% discount was judged to be the simplest, fairest solution. Ultimately, you are free to vote with your wallets.”

You can read 4A Game's full statement, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I skipped Metro 2033 and went straight into Last Light so I'm excited to go back and play the Redux version. Ultimately, I think the 50% discount on both games is fair. 4A Games even admits that if you already own Metro Last Light and the DLC, then the Redux version might not be worth buying. Are any of you guys planning to buy Metro Redux? Do you think the 50% flat rate discount is fair on those who bought the Last Light DLC?
