Just a few short days into 2024, Capcom began its celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Monster Hunter franchise – announcing updated sales figures for its most recent entries. Following this kick-off, the publisher has now announced a special Monster Hunter Anniversary Program – set to go live on the 12th of March.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Monster Hunter page said “Join us March 12 at 4am PDT / 11:00am GMT for the Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary Special Program! We'll be celebrating 20 years of Monster Hunter, revealing your top 10 monsters of all time and more!”

It is worth noting that this stream appears to be focused entirely on celebrating the franchise’s past legacy, with the team specifying that “This special program will not feature new game announcements or news on Monster Hunter Wilds.”

Clearly, Capcom is gearing up for a big event where they will likely blow the lid off of Monster Hunter Wilds. Ahead of that though, it is cool to see the publisher celebrating one of its most popular franchises alongside the fans. Hopefully the special program does offer some teases of the future.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for the stream? Will you watch it? What is your favourite Monster Hunter game of the past 20 years? Let us know down below.

It would be a huge understatement to merely state that the Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 Kickstarter has been a success. It's on its way to becoming the most pledged to board game ever and that's meant lots of updates from the creator. To try and give himself a break, he put up a challenge to beat a Mario Maker level he created – and it was promptly finished in less than two hours.

Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 is the updated version of the board game of the same name and to fund its creation the developers have gone back to the crowd funding well that helped spawn the original game's creation. Exceeding all expectations, it blew past its $100,000 goal in no time, generating over a million dollars in funding in under 20 minutes and now it's on to much greater heights.

But with creator Adam Poots feeling like he needed a short break from maintaining the campaign, he challenged people to beat his Kingdom Death 1-1 level from Mario Maker. While fiendishly tough, it's difficulty relies much on the random generation of some of the enemies and their actions. Even then though it only took one gamer an hour and a half of respawning to finish it.

*Warning* some NSFW language.

While Poots did later lament not specifying that a backer be the one to complete the level, he has accepted the victory and will now create a new, unplanned extra for the game which many pledge levels will be able to enjoy.

KitGuru Says: I've played a little Kingdom Death: Monster and enjoyed it a lot, but it's so expensive. I almost wish there was a budget version without the models and an option to buy them later.

Monster might not be a company that you are particularly well versed in as a hardcore KitGuru gamer/hardware enthusiast, but it is one you should hear more of in the future. Quite literally because it produces high end headphones. The Elements are Bluetooth connected and are designed to offer a more full sounding experience than the likes of Apple's recent Airpod design.

Featuring a classy metallic finish, wireless and wired functionality, high quality sound and a foldable frame, these cans certainly tick a lot of boxes. How they fare under our scrutiny, though, remains to be seen.

monsterelementsheadphones

It is worth mentioning right off of the bat that this is a £300 pair of headphones, so consider wisely before tempting yourself with their flash looks and (probably) decent sound. Of course, if you like to drool over high-end hardware as we do, read on.

  • Showroom beautiful finished.
  • Available with both wireless and wired functionality.
  • DJ style hinges on both left and right sides of headphones.
  • Space saving, easy fold down design.
  • High intelligibility microphone.
  • Memory foam cushions for a comfortable, noise cancelling listening experience..
  • Hard case included.

Turtle Rock has been teasing the announcement of its third official launch-monster for Evolve for some time now. There were a couple of seconds of it flitting about in a trailer for the campaign and a couple of teased images, but it's been fairly well documented already due to accidental images shown during livestreams and now we have an even more in-depth look at the monster, in an off-screen leaked reveal for it.

Obviously if you want to wait for the official, higher quality version to find out about the Wraith, don't watch this.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laEnR8eStwA']

Due to the high quality of this cinematic, it makes you wonder if this is a launch trailer for the game, or perhaps an opening cut-scene of sorts. Still, whatever it is, clearly the Wraith is a different beast than the Goliath and Kraken (and unrevealed Behemoth) that we have seen before. It's very fast, can create ghostly copies of itself and it can grab hunters which should make for a much warier hunt for those that like to run off on their own.

Oh and it can fly.

Keeping your medic close looks like it will be paramount against the Wraith

The Wraith, Along with two other monsters, 12+ maps and the 12 revealed hunters will be released with the base game of Evolve on 10th February 2015. DLC monsters and hunters will follow in turn, though new maps will be made available for everyone.

Turtle Rock will be hosting a “Big Alpha” for its upcoming 4V1 shooter, Evolve, at the end of this month. Starting from today, users can sign up for the second alpha test, which will also be coming to the Xbox One and PS4 this time around, rather than just the PC.

Since Microsoft has an exclusivity deal worked out for Evolve, Xbox One owners will get in to the alpha a day early on the 30th of October and will be able to play until the 2nd of November. PC and PS4 owners will be able to play from the 31st of October, those who pre-ordered the game already are guaranteed a spot on the big alpha, everyone else will have to sign up and hope for the best.

Since Evolve is a multiplayer game, console owners will need a PS+ or Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to play. Aside from that, Turtle Rock's big alpha announcement also revealed that those who do pre-order will receive a fourth monster to play as for free once the game has launched, the downside to that is those who prefer to wait for reviews will have to pay out.

To sign up for the Evolve “Big Alpha”, you have to go to THIS SITE. Then, you enter this code: 11197-10708-89072. You'll then have to enter your name, email and platform of choice. It seems to be operating on a ‘first come, first serve' basis so act fast.

Turtle Rock, the developer behind the original Left 4 Dead and now my most anticipated game of the year, Evolve, has released a trailer for the monster hunting, human bashing game, showing the perspectives of every player and giving you a real idea of what it's like to play it.

With so many perspectives on show, it's a long video so if your lunch hour hasn't started yet, preload this one for a treat, as it's filled with monster action and tactics, along with some of the team work you'll need to master as the hunters if you ever want to take down the creature in what is essentially a multiplayer, 20 minute boss fight.

Showcased in the video are several of the abilities the players have, as well as the weapons of the hunters, which I can tell you from personal experience, are so varied that each feels very unique – only the Assault class feels traditional.

The gameplay starts off from the monster's perspective, but switches back and forth regularly throughout

Bear in mind as well, that what we're seeing here is just a small fraction of the final game. There's going to be more monsters, more maps, more game modes and more hunters, so there's a lot of potential for a game that I already known is incredibly fun to play.

As Multiplay's largest ever Insomnia LAN draws to a close, we thought we would take a look around and show those of you who weren't lucky enough to make it this year what you missed out on!

Overclockers UK

IMG_2723

Overclockers UK had a lot of exciting stuff on display, most notably the Ducky Shine 3 Year of the Snake limited edition mechanical keyboard, which is going to be on sale shortly at a price of around £200.

IMG_2729

They also had a selection of products on display from the likes of Kingston and Asus.

IMG_2750

There were also a series of systems on display for show-goers to try out.  Overclockers are still pushing their BitFenix Prodigy based systems hard as they are perfectly suited to this type of event.  We took a closer look at those over here.

IMG_2759

OCUK were also displaying a rather sexy looking water cooled system built in the new Corsair Carbide 540 Air case.

Monster Headphones

IMG_2829

Monster were showing off their MVP Carbon headphones which were developed in conjunction with EA Sports.

IMG_2825

They had a booth babe on hand to show us the key features of the headset.

MSI and Tt eSPORTS

IMG_2855

There were even more booth babes over at the MSI and Tt eSPORTS stand.  If you look closely, you might even be able to see a motherboard and graphics card in the photo above!

IMG_2867

Tt eSPORTS were showing off their latest Cronos headset which is designed for those users who are looking for a more premium experience than the more budget friendly Shock headset.  Both of these headsets were being sold to gamers in the GAME booth.

IMG_2859

There was also a rather attractive booth babe from Aquatuning who was showcasing a high end MSI gaming computer.

IMG_2866

TT eSPORTS were showing off their latest version of the G-Unit mechanical gaming keyboard, the G-unit illuminated.
