Earlier in the year there was much speculation around multiple Nexus class devices from a few manufacturers including Samsung, HTC and LG. In case you didn't know, a Nexus device is one that runs pure Android, much like the Nexus 7 tablet we reviewed recently.

Rumours are circulating about a possible Nexus device from HTC that could be labelled as the HTC One X 5 or perhaps the Nexus 5. According to GSMArena sources it will bring with it Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. This progressive update will bring improvements to Project Butter, additional lockscreen functionality and other smaller updates.

Other specifications are rumoured to include a 5 inch, 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, 64 GB internal storage, 12 MP rear facing and 2 MP front facing cameras and a 2500 mAh battery.

HTC and Google joined forces to produce the first device in the series, the Nexus One in 2010. Since then Nexus smartphones have been dominated by Samsung.

KitGuru says: Nexus devices are traditionally launched with major Android updates, but given there will not be another one this year the introduction of Nexus device(s) would not surprise us.
