We've been hearing a lot about the OnePlus 7 Pro over the last few weeks, and today the phone was officially announced with three simultaneous launch events held in London, New York and Bangalore. Unsurprisingly, it turns out the leaks were very accurate.

That means the OnePlus 7 Pro sports a large 6.67in OLED display, with an all-new 90Hz refresh rate. On top of that, it's also now a curved screen – similar to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S series – with a 3120×1440 QHD+ resolution and even HDR10+ support.

The design is also very sleek, with absolutely tiny bezels around the front display, and a large part of that is due to the new selfie camera and speaker positioning. The earpiece sits in a tiny cut-out just above the top of the display, but most eye-catching is the front selfie camera which pops out of the top edge of the phone via a sliding mechanism.

OnePlus says this mechanism has been tested over 300,000 times, so you could theoretically open and close it 150 times a day for over 5 years. Whether or not that will hold up for everyday usage is another thing, but it's a very cool concept nonetheless.

Speaking of cameras, the triple-camera configuration we'd heard about previously is exactly what we get. This means there are three sensors on the back of the phone – 48MP, 16MP and 8MP. The 48MP camera is the primary one, with a f/1.6 aperture lens and OIS. The 16MP camera is an ultra-wide with a f/2.2 lens and 117 degree field of view, while the 8MP camera is a 74mm telephoto with a f/2.4 aperture.

Other specs include the Snapdragon 855 processor as expected, alongside 6/8/12GB RAM. The battery has also received a big bump, with a new 4000mAh capacity, while OnePlus' new fast-charging standard, Warp Charge 30, should give a 50% charge in just 20 minutes. As we've known for a while, though, there is no support for wireless charging.

In the UK, there will be three different OnePlus 7 Pro configurations available, with prices coming in at £649 for the 6GB/128GB model, £699 for the 8GB/256GB version, and then £799 for the top-end 12GB/256GB model. Availability will be from 21st May.

KitGuru says: Will anyone be picking up the new OnePlus 7 Pro? On paper it looks a great phone and it will be interesting to see how popular it becomes with the wider market.

We are just one day away from the launch of the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. This time around, OnePlus is less concerned about pricing and will instead focus on offering a beefier device, with two distinct tiers. We’ve already heard OnePlus talk up the new display it is using, but now a new leak has seemingly revealed exactly what to expect in terms of hardware.

The OnePlus 7 and the Pro version will be using the same display. We already knew that it would have high refresh rate, but today’s leak from WinFuture points to it being a 6.7-inch ‘Fluid AMOLED’ display with a 3120×1440 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It will also apparently have a fingerprint scanner baked into the display and in order to avoid the need for a ‘notch’, a pop-up front facing camera will be used.

Under the hood, it looks like we can expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. The OnePlus 7 Pro will also apparently come with several different RAM options, with 6GB, 8GB and 12GB versions set to be made available depending on how much money you are willing to spend. In terms of storage, there will be 128GB and 256GB options.

The front facing camera will reportedly be a 16MP unit using the Sony IMX471 sensor. The back of the phone will house a triple-camera setup, similarly to what we are seeing rumoured for the iPhone 11. The three sensors here will be 48MP, 16MP and 8MP respectively with enhanced optical zoom, wide angle and image stabilisation capabilities.

Pricing for the OnePlus 7 Pro is said to start at €699 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It then raises to €749 for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Finally, for €819, you will get 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

KitGuru Says: While most of the specs outlined here are likely going to be accurate, I was expecting the OnePlus 7 Pro to come in at a slightly higher price. Of course, none of this is confirmed by OnePlus yet, so take this information with a grain of salt. We’ll be back tomorrow to report on the official announcement.

OnePlus will be releasing its next flagship smartphone very soon. As usual, we have had a bunch of leaks to verify certain things prior to the official announcement but now, OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, is also speaking openly about plans for the OnePlus 7 and also the OnePlus 7 Pro, which will be a higher-end device with more powerful hardware.

While the OnePlus 7 will continue the tradition of offering ‘flagship performance' at a lower cost, the Pro version will likely match the Galaxy S10 in price. We don't know the specific differences between the two devices just yet, but speaking with The Verge, Lau did start hyping up some of the features that they will have in common. For starters, Lau says that for the OnePlus 7, the company has spent three times as much on the display compared to usual. He also promises that it will “redefine fast and smooth” essentially confirming that it will be high refresh rate. Possibly 90Hz according to some leaks, although the Razer Phone has managed 120Hz, so it will be interesting to see if OnePlus can match that.

One of the features that puts the OnePlus 7 Pro over the edge is the inclusion of 5G support, which won't appear on the base model. However, given how limited 5G network availability is at this moment in time, don't expect this feature to be marketed too heavily.

Following in the footsteps of Samsung with its ‘Infinity Display' or Apple with its new OLED screens, the biggest feature OnePlus will be touting this year is its screen. The official announcement shouldn't be too far off, so we'll likely hear much more on that front soon.

KitGuru Says: I've always enjoyed checking out what OnePlus has to offer each year. Are any of you planning a smartphone upgrade in 2019? Will you be waiting to see the OnePlus 7 in action?

OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next flagship smartphone, meaning a number of details are coming to light. CEO Pete Lau has already confirmed that the OnePlus 7 won’t feature wireless charging and leaks suggest a bezel-less design thanks to a pop-out camera, but a recent listing reportedly uncovers what’s under the hood and just how much it’ll cost.

Handset retailer Giztop prematurely listed the OnePlus 7 on its site, revealing a Snapdragon 855 processor and up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. This is supposedly powered by a sizeable 4,000mAh battery that uses Dash Charging to speedily replenish.

The AMOLED screen itself is said to be 6.5-inches with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The triple-camera setup on the rear supposedly consists of a 48MP, 20MP and 16MP lens, while the pop-up camera will reveal itself via a mechanism, exposing a single 16MP lens. The listing also states that the device will unsurprisingly be running on the latest Android 9 Pie operating system starting at $569.

Display size and SoC have remained consistent against prior speculation, but the retailer’s listing suggests a slightly smaller battery than previously expected, although still larger than its predecessor. There are also discrepancies with the images used. The ever-reliable OnLeaks unveiled renders earlier this week that show two buttons to the right, likely consisting of a power button and alert slider while a volume rocker sits on the left. The reverse is true for Giztop’s pictures, which forgo the alert slider and partition the volume rocker into two distinct buttons.

We’ll surely be treated to more information in the run-up to release, but for now it’s best to take Giztop’s listing with a pinch of salt.

KitGuru Says: It’s good to see OnePlus managing to keep costs down, if the price is to be believed. Would you pay $569 for a device with the specs outlines above?

OnePlus has been popping up in the news recently and we'll likely be hearing from them a lot more as we build up to the launch of the OnePlus 7. Last week, we learned that the OnePlus 7 would be avoiding wireless charging technology. However, there will be new features in other areas, with a new display and pop-out camera being among them.

We've seen some smaller smartphone companies experiment with the ‘pop out' camera before, as it helps create a bigger screen to body ratio. OnePlus will apparently be going in this design direction this year, according to OnLeaks.

Steve H.McFly, otherwise known as Onleaks on Twitter, posted new images of the OnePlus 7 design over the weekend. The render shows off the new design, with a pop-out front facing camera, a bigger screen to body ratio and similar rear-camera set up to what we've recently seen on the Galaxy S10.

The display itself is set to be 6.5-inches in size, according to pricebaba. Meanwhile under the hood, the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and 6GB of RAM. For battery, we are currently expecting to see an increase to 4,150mAh, up from the 3,700mAh battery found in the OnePlus 6T.

KitGuru Says: The OnePlus 7 is looking very nice, although I do wonder if the pop out camera idea will catch on. Especially now that we're moving towards facial recognition for unlocking phones. What do you guys think of the rumoured OnePlus 7 design? Are you looking to upgrade your phone this year?

The OnePlus 6 might be just over a month old, but the Chinese manufacturer is already talking about its successor. The tentatively titled OnePlus 7 and 7T will be one of, if not the first 5G smartphones available to the public, set to be revealed later this year.

CEO Pete Lau told PC Mag that OnePlus is prioritising 5G, being one of the world’s first handset manufacturers to launch publicly available smartphones that support the technology. While no names were mentioned, it is believed that Lau was talking about the company’s next flagship device, which will likely be called the OnePlus 7, followed by its iterative 7T upgrade some time later in 2019.

This comes hand in hand with plans to shift to carrier partnership in the United States. Previously, US users of OnePlus handsets have had to purchase their phones directly, receiving unlocked devices. It hasn’t yet been revealed what carriers are in talks to support the forthcoming devices, but EE has revealed that it plans to be one of the first to utilise its portion of the 5G spectrum next year. The renewed focus on partnerships could also lead to the next flagship being available with more networks in other countries, such as the United Kingdom.

While OnePlus might be the first company to launch a commercial 5G smartphone, Huawei is said to be closing in on the development of its own enabled device. For now, 4G certainly suffices in its speed, giving speeds that are often quicker than home WiFi. Of course, using a significant portion of data is quite costly on current plans, and 5G is set to bump that price up further.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully OnePlus will still be selling unlocked handsets in the US directly from its own store, as this will still be notably cheaper than buying from a carrier. In the meantime, it’s exciting that 5G will usher in download speeds that breach triple figures on-the-go, however I’m not willing to pay the prices I’m expecting to make use of it. Are you prepared for 5G?
