The RTX 4070 Super has been out for just a few weeks. At its launch MSRP of £579, we found it to be the best value RTX 40-series card available but surprisingly, prices are already starting to drop a bit.

While the Founder's Edition RTX 4070 Super carries the MSRP price tag of £579, most custom-cooled cards from board partners do sell at higher prices. In the case of the Zotac RTX 4070 Super Twin Edge graphics card though, you can save money over the MSRP price.

Currently on Overclockers UK, this RTX 4070 Super model is selling for £539.99, around £40 lower than the MSRP price, making it one of the most wallet-friendly RTX 4070 cards available at the moment.

The RTX 4070 Super first launched in mid January, offering nice boost over the original RTX 4070, offering about 15% more performance for the same money – and you can see our full review HERE.

Kolink is back with a trio of new PC cases to end off the year. The new Kolink Unity Peak and Kolink Unity Meshbay offer affordable options for those looking to go all out on aesthetics or airflow performance with their new build.

The Kolink Unity Peak ARGB is a mid-tower case that utilises popular aesthetic touches, including a tempered glass front and side panel for a great view of the system, and plenty of ARGB fans throughout, including three on the side of the motherboard tray, rather than being attached to the front panel, similar to the Lian Li O11. The chassis has plenty of room for hardware, with support for ATX motherboards, up to seven expansion slots along with two vertical slots for vertical GPU mounting, clearance for graphics cards up to 400mm long and support for multiple liquid cooling radiators, including a 240mm at the side, or a 360mm radiator in the roof.

To keep your build looking clean, the drive bays are hidden away, but you can mount two 2.5″ SSDs as well as two 3.5″ HDDs. The Kolink Unity Peak ARGB is hitting the UK market at £84.95.

Moving on to the new Kolink Unity Meshbay, this case is available in two variants, one with ARGB fans included and one without for a blacked-out, stealthy look. Both versions are designed with airflow in mind, with the use of mesh panels to allow for more airflow throughout the system to aid with cooling. The standard version is launching at £54.95, shipping with three Kolink 120mm PWM fans pre-installed.

The ARGB version ships with four 120mm Umbra S ARGB PWM fans instead, with three on the front panel and one on the rear. The ARGB lighting will shine through the front mesh panel, offering a subtle glow. Naturally, this does make this version of the case more expensive, coming in at £74.99.

Both cases support a 360mm radiator in the front or top of the case, or a 240mm radiator on the right side of the motherboard tray, so there is plenty of space for AIO coolers, or even a custom liquid cooling setup.

If you want to upgrade the RGB in your system, then Kolink is also launching the new Umbra Void Pro Infinity Mirror ARGB fans, offering 120mm fans with 25mm thick frames, capable of a maximum airflow of 57.2CFM and a static pressure of 2.1mmH2O. These fans won't generate too much noise, with full speed reaching 30dB, but average use is measured at a much quieter 19.4dB. These fans are available for £11.99 each.

You can find all three cases and the new Umbra Void Pro Infinity Mirror fans at Overclockers UK.

Kolink is back with another striking case design. The new Kolink Inspire K2 Plus is a Micro-ATX case with a number of improvements over the original Inspire K2 model.

The Inspire K2 Plus has been reconfigured to best support the newest components. Now, the K2 Plus offers better support for liquid cooling products and a dedicated PSU shroud to improve aesthetics. As we can see from the exterior of the case, it is well suited for a gaming system, with a stylised front panel with a big ARGB lighting strip running through.

Inside the chassis you'll find space for two radiators or five fans. The case ships with one 120mm ARGB fan installed in the rear. You'll find room for two more fans in the front and roof of the case. For radiators, you can squeeze up to a 280mm radiator in the front of the case. If you are going with an air cooler instead, you'll need one under 160mm tall, which shouldn't be too difficult to find.

The Kolink Inspire K2 Plus offers support for an MATX or a Mini-ITX motherboard with four expansion slots in the rear of the case. This improved design allows support for much of the latest hardware with clearance for a GPU up to 300mm in length. The PSU now has a dedicated shroud within the case and offers space for a standard ATX power supply up to 165mm long. In terms of storage the Inspire K2 Plus can support 2x 3.5” HDDs or 2.5” SSDs within the drive cage. Additionally, the motherboard backplate has two mounts for 2.5” drives.

Aside from this new case, Kolink is also launching its new braided cable extension kit, so if you want to upgrade the look of your PC cables, you'll find extensions in Black, White, Red and Grey.

The Kolink Inspire K2 Plus chassis is available starting today for just £42.95. The braided cable extension kits are £19.99 each.

KitGuru Says: If you need a PC case that looks the part, offers all the basics and doesn't break the bank, the K2 Plus might be worth the gamble.

Back in late 2022, Phanteks launched a trio of G500A cases. Now, Phanteks is upgrading its G300 cases with the new Eclipse G300A, available in two flavours, one with a solid front panel and another with a full mesh front panel for improved airflow.

The G300A chassis is a refined version of the older P300A. The newer model includes improved cooling and fan support and a more modern finish.

On the cooling front, the Eclipse G300A has been reconfigured to allow for up to a 360mm radiator in the front, and up to a 240mm radiator in the roof of the case. Overall, the case can support up to six 120mm fans and if you do go down the liquid cooling route, there is an additional 30mm of clearance space for radiators, so your fans won't be starved for airflow.

The chassis supports ATX motherboards, CPU coolers up to 162mm tall and GPUs up to 390mm long. The top panel has a USB 3.0 Type-A port, a USB 3.0 Type-C port, as well as the usual power/reset buttons and audio jacks.

The Phanteks Eclipse G300A makes an ideal choice for those on a tighter budget, with prices starting at just £54.95 for the standard version and £64.99 for the mesh version with D-RGB fans.

Back in late 2022 the Lian Li V3000 Plus full-tower PC case launched in the UK, but only in black. Now a few months later than expected, the white version has arrived.

Capable of holding EEB motherboards, up to three 480mm radiators, two systems, 16x storage drives, and 16x 120mm fans, the V3000 Plus is capable of holding virtually any PC component. That's not surprising, considering it measures 678.5x279x674mm (DxWxH). It is a big case for a big high-end build.

Featuring a design similar to the original V3000, the Plus version comes with more vented panels for increased airflow. The front panel was also redesigned to include a longer ARGB LED strip at the centre. The inside was modified to fit more storage drives too.

Another interesting thing about this case is the three different modes. The first is the standard mode, which allows you to mount a single system inside. The second mode lets you rotate the motherboard tray 90º left to promote GPU cooling. Rotating the tray moves the rear I/O towards the PSU shroud, but thanks to the pass-through channel on the case, the ports are still accessible from the rear.

The third mode is the one that allows you to mount two systems inside the case, elevating the motherboard tray so that you can build a mini-ITX system on top of the PSU shroud. Despite supporting two complete systems, the chassis still has room for up to 11 120mm fans, 2 480mm radiators (top and front), and up to a 280mm radiator (above the PSU shroud) in this mode. You can also mount two PSUs in this configuration, but you're limited to an ATX and an SFX/SFX-L model. Vertical GPU mounting is also supported.

The Lian Li V3000 Plus is available in the UK, priced at £479.99 for both the black and white models.

We are just over a week on from the launch of the RTX 4070 and while the graphics card's launch price wasn't as high as once feared, it is still on the pricey side for an x70 GPU. Fortunately, we are already starting to see prices drop below Nvidia's target price tag.

Here in the UK, the RTX 4070's MSRP was set at £589, offering performance comparable to an RTX 3080, while shaving some money off of the entry price. While the MSRP is lower than the RTX 3080 was, it is significantly more expensive than the x70 class GPUs we've seen in previous generations.

If you are holding off for lower prices, then you may not have to wait long as some custom RTX 4070 models are already dropping below the MSRP price. Currently, the Gainward RTX 4070 Ghost is down to £549.95, a £40 saving versus the MSRP price.

Other RTX 40 series graphics cards have also dropped below MSRP prices in recent months. For instance, some RTX 4080s can also be found around the £1100 mark, after launching at over £1200. We may be able to expect better sales over the summer months, and then again in Q4 during events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Lian-Li's UNI FAN is back in new and improved form. The new Uni Fan AL V2 version is launching this week, promising even better airflow performance and improved design elements. Beyond that, Lian Li is also launching its new Strimer Plus V2 12VHPWR connector for those looking to make the jump to a high-end RTX 40 series graphics card.

The UNI FAN AL V2 introduces corner lighting which is visible from the front, rear, and side of the fan. Using LIAN LI’s lighting software L-Connect 3, each corner and blade rim LED can be individually controlled for limitless lighting combinations. The AL V2 also features enhanced performance thanks to its thicker frame size of 28mm. The extra thickness and faster 2000RPM fan speeds leads to 20 percent improved airflow performance compared to the V1.

Compared to the V1, the V2 also simplifies setup and installation by moving to a single-cable design, cutting down on clutter. A new extension cable allows you to link up to six UNI FANs with a single controller port, and the V2 fans also have a removable interlocking key, improving compatibility with liquid cooling radiators.

Alongside the V2 UNI FANs, Lian Li is also launching its Strimer Plus V2 12VHPWR adapter cable, allowing users to use 12+4pin, or three 8pin PCIe connectors into a single 12VHPWR connector. While RTX 40 graphics cards ship with a 12VHPWR adapter included, early adopters faced some issues and as a result, some upgraders prefer a third-party cable, as it is cheaper than buying a brand new ATX 3.0 compliant power supply.

The UNI FAN AL V2 will be available in 120mm and 140mm versions, priced at £26.99 or £29.99 per fan. If you want the full triple pack, it'll cost you £79.99. The Strimer Plus V2 12VHPWR adapter will be available for $49.99 for the 12+4pin or 3x8pin versions with eight light guides, or $59.99 for the 12+4pin to 12+4pin version with 12 light guides.

KitGuru Says: The UNI FANs continue to look great. Are you planning on adding a dash of RGB to your system with some new case fans? Will you be considering the Lian Li UNI FANs?

The Jonsbo D31 and D41 cases have finally arrived, offering clean aesthetics with a modern feel, with a varied range of options in size and front panels depending on your needs.

The Jonsbo D31 and D41 share a similar design and layout, but one is smaller, with a 31.3L capacity and a shorter standing height, while the D41 is 44.5mm taller and has a 34.5L capacity. Both are available in ‘standard' form, which uses solid panels for silent operation, a mesh version that uses mesh panels for additional airflow, and there is also a version with a display embedded in the front panel, which you can use to display pretty much whatever you want, as it functions as an independent monitor.

With that in mind, you could use Wallpaper Engine to display a custom animation, or you could use it as an editing panel, or a live chat viewer for content creators. If you are tinkering with your PC, you could use the extra display for system stats, like temperatures and clock speeds.

The D31 and D41 are available in both black or white. Both are built using steel panels for construction, with ventilation on the top and bottom panels to help with airflow. All versions of these cases ship with a glass side panel, giving you a window into your system. The front I/O features USB 3.0, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and a 4-pole audio in/out port.

The D31 is built for ITX, DTX and M-ATX motherboards, while the D41 is built for up to ATX motherboards. For CPU cooling, you'll have room for a cooler up to 168mm tall, and GPUs up to 400mm in length. The D31 supports four PCI slots, while the D41 has seven PCI slots.

The table below shows fan/radiator configuration options for both cases:

Fan Fan Radiator
Top 3 × 120mm/2 × 240mm 1 × 240/280/360mm
Rear 1 × 120mm 1 × 120mm

It has been a couple of months since AMD's new RX 7900 XT and XTX graphics cards launched and we're now starting to see some good deals popping up. Today, the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card can be found for £100 under MSRP.

In recent years, supply and demand issues led to wildly inflated prices for graphics cards. Finding an RTX 30 series or RX 6000 series GPU at MSRP was a rare sight in 2021 and 2022. Things are changing this generation, with most of the newer GPUs from AMD and Nvidia regularly in stock at expected price levels. In fact, we're even starting to see deals bringing prices down below MSRP.

Currently at Overclockers UK, you can grab the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT for £799.99, £100 down from its usual £899.99 price tag, which also happens to be the MSRP price that AMD set at launch in December.

We're likely to see more graphics card deals this year compared to the last couple of years, partly due to a drop in sales. Jon Peddie Research recently published its Q4 GPU market report, finding that sales dropped by 35 percent compared to Q4 in the previous year. In Q3 2022, GPU shipments also saw a sharp decline.

KitGuru Says: At £799.99, the RX 7900 XT is still a costly graphics card, but it also delivers RTX 4070 Ti-beating performance in a lot of cases and at a cheaper price.

Kolink is back with two new cases for 2023 – the Observatory Duo and the Inspire K12. The first offers a choice of two front panels so you can opt for sleeker aesthetics or cooling performance, while the latter is a performance-focused mid-tower with a mesh front panel.

The Observatory Duo is an ARGB mid-tower with four pre-installed ARGB Umbra fans. If airflow is a priority, the Observatory Duo comes with a fully mesh front panel for ventilation and if you want to throw in some extra fans, it can fit an extra four 120mm fans throughout the case. There is also room for a 360mm radiator in the front of the case for those looking to liquid-cool.

The Kolink Observatory Duo can support up to an EATX motherboard with room for a CPU cooler up to 160mm in height. A GPU up to 355mm long can be supported in the case, with 7 expansion slots included. In terms of storage the Observatory Duo can support 2x 3.5” HDDs or 2.5” SSDs. The I/O features 1 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0, 1 x Reset Switch, and 1 x Audio In/Out. The case is available in black and measures in at 212 x 470 x 390 mm, weighing 6.1kg.

The K12 doesn't have a swappable front panel, but it does come with a mesh one preinstalled, making it a perfect option for those who want to ensure good airflow. There is one preinstalled Umbra ARGB fan in this one, but you can have a total of eight 120mm fans in the case for cooling and a 360mm radiator in the front of the ccase.

The Kolink Inspire K12 supports up to ATX-sized motherboards, CPU coolers up to 160mm tall, graphics cards up to 330mm long and up to two SSDs or HDDs. For I/O, you get a USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 ports, a reset switch and audio in/out ports on the front of the case.

The Kolink Observatory Duo is available starting now, priced at £69.95. The Kolink Inspire K12 is also available, priced at £49.99.

Following on from reviews yesterday, today the RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX graphics cards are officially launching and becoming available to the public. Here in the UK, it looks like RX 7900 XT pricing will start at £899 for AIB models, while the XTX version will sit around £1,049.

If you missed our reviews yesterday, then they are worth reading. Both of AMD's new GPUs impress in rasterisation performance, although ray-tracing performance does still lag behind Nvidia's competing graphics cards. We have tons of benchmarks, power draw analysis and value analysis to look at, so you can find our RX 7900 XT review HERE, and our RX 7900 XTX review, HERE.

From 2PM today, you'll be able to order one of these graphics cards. At Overclockers UK, the Sapphire RX 7900 XT comes in at £899, while the Sapphire RX 7900 XTX comes in at £1,049. These models are based on AMD's reference design, so expect models with custom cooler designs to be more expensive.

We've spoken with the folks at OCUK and while there is plenty of stock in for reference design cards like the two Sapphire models mentioned above, there is less stock of custom cards and it could take a while for those to come in. We should see improved stock and pricing in early 2023.

A couple of weeks ago, Lian Li announced its latest dual-chamber case – the V3000 Plus, capable of housing two PCs and offering multiple layout configurations for experienced builders. Now, this case is making its way to UK shores.

The Lian Li V3000 Plus is available to pre-order in the UK, priced at £479.99. Currently, only a black version is available, but a white version is launching in January.

KitGuru says: Have you ever considered building a dual-system with a case like this?

We first heard about the Lian-Li Lancool 216 earlier this month. Today, it was officially announced that this new airflow-focused chassis will be available in the UK, priced at a reasonable £109.99.

The Lancool 216 delivers a sleeker design and more mesh panels compared to its predecessor. The case also stands out thanks to its two custom 160mm front fans, which are larger than your traditional 120mm or 140mm case fans to help pull in more cool air from the mesh front panel. In addition, you can change the internal layout between air cooling mode for more fans and water cooling mode to add a 360mm radiator in the roof.

To make the system mounting process easier, there's a removable top bracket for the radiator in the main chamber. On the second chamber (right side of the case), you can use the five velcro straps and various clip tie points to route cables. The PSU shroud can also be moved to make extra room for a liquid cooling radiator in the front. The front I/O panel can be moved to the lower left side of the front panel too so there are a lot of configuration options available for seasoned PC builders.

Available in black or white with RGB lighting, the Lancool 216 is now available to pre-order in the UK. The black version will launch at £109.99, while the white version will cost £114.95. Currently, the Overclockers UK team is also giving away a Lancool 216 ARGB controller, so if you plan on buying the case, you should consider entering so you can kit your case out further with additional lighting gear.

The case measures in at 500 x 240 x 515 mm (D x W x H) with a steel chassis and tempered glass side panel. The Eclipse G500A is available in satin black for all three models, but the D-RGB model does have a white colour option.  The front I/O features 1x USB 3.2 Type-C Gen 2, 2x USB 3.0 Type-A, a power button, a reset button, and a microphone/ headphone jack. The D-RGB model also features colour and mode buttons.

The Phanteks Eclipse G500A D-RGB Satin Black/ Matte White (£149.99) comes with pre-programmed D-RGB lighting in the form of two LED strips and three Phanteks M25 140mm D-RGB fans in the front. The Eclipse G500A Performance (£139.99) ships with four M25 140mm black fans – three in the front and one in the rear. It also has a white LED strip in the front. Finally, we have the G500A Fanless (£119.99) which ships with no fans, so you can save some money and reuse fans from a previous build, or buy whatever fans you want and add them straight in.

We've seen a lot of great gaming chairs in recent years, some offering simple designs and colour combinations, and others offering full themes based on games and movie characters. Now, Overclockers UK is giving you the opportunity to put your own artistic touch on a chair.

Overclockers UK and Techforge are teaming up to offer a new gaming chair customisation option when you buy a new noblechairs gaming chair. Now, when you go to pick up a new Epic, Icon or Hero series chair, you can also opt to have your own logo printed onto the back of the chair, and the headrest. In the gallery below, you'll see our newly customised KitGuru Icon chair.

There are some limitations in place. For now, this customisation option is only available to those in the UK. You'll also need to send any images you want to use in .AI or .PDF format and use the CMYK colour model. Artwork should be vector only – currently pixel-based images can't be printed.

Using this service will cost you some extra money. Getting a custom image printed onto the back of the headrest costs £29.99, while getting one printed to the back of the chair costs £99.99. There is also a bundle option, where you can pay for both at a rate of £129.98. You can find OCUK's chair personalisation service, HERE.

The reviews are in and the wider verdict seems to be that the RTX 4090 is one hell of a graphics card, delivering significant gains compared to the previous flagship, the RTX 3090 Ti. As of today, the RTX 4090 is officially available for purchase, so we've had a browse around to see what prices are looking like for board partner cards.

A lot of board partner cards with custom coolers are going to come in more expensive than Nvidia's Founders Edition, as is often the case. Some cards will be much higher, breaking well over the £2000 mark, while others will sit closer to Nvidia's MSRP price, like Inno3D's RTX 4090 X3 OC, which we reviewed HERE.

For reference, here is the spec sheet for the RTX 4090 compared to previous-gen RTX 30 series GPUs:

RTX 4090 RTX 3090 Ti RTX 3090 RTX 3080 Ti RTX 3080

While the RTX 4090 Founders Edition comes in at £1,699 here in the UK, partner cards range from slightly above this price, all the way up to well over £2000. The MSI RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X is the most expensive we've seen so far, packing an AIO liquid cooler for the GPU for £2,399.99. The air-cooled version of the MSI RTX 4090 SUPRIM X comes in at £2,129.99 and the Gaming Trio X version costs £2,099.99.

Gigabyte's Aorus RTX 4090 Master is hitting the market at £2,369.99, but the Gigabyte RTX 4090 WindForce comes in at a much more palatable £1,829.99. If you're looking to go with Asus ROG, you're going to be shelling out £2,399.99 for the Strix model. The Asus TUF Gaming RTX 4090 is priced a little better at £2,129.99, but it still carries a hefty margin.

Partners like KFA2, Palit, PNY, Inno3D and Zotac all have GPUs under the £2000 mark, including the KFA2 RTX 4090 SG OC (£1,879.99), the Palit RTX 4090 GameRock (£1,949.99) and the PNY RTX 4090 VERTO EPIC-X (£1,879.99), the Inno3D RTX 4090 X3 (£1,759.99) and the Zotac RTX 4090 Trinity OC (£1,889.99).

The RTX 4090 is just the beginning. Next month, we'll see the first RTX 4080 graphics cards hitting the market, so we'll be back to check out their UK pricing when the time comes.

The day has finally arrived – today AMD's Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors officially become available, sporing the new Zen 4 architecture, and making the jump to Socket AM5. We've gone ahead and looked up UK availability and pricing for those planning to upgrade to the new platform.

We've already had the opportunity to review two of AMD's Ryzen 7000 CPUs – the Ryzen 9 7950X and the Ryzen 7 7700X. During our testing, we found that both processors offer excellent performance, but also suffer from high operating temperatures, so you are going to want a decent CPU cooler to keep things in check.

If you need a refresher, you can see all the key specs for each new Ryzen processor in the table below:

Graphics Model Cores Threads Max Boost Clock Base Clock Total Cache PCIe Version Graphics Core Count Default TDP
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X AMD Radeon Graphics 16 32 Up to 5.7GHz 4.5GHz 80MB Gen 5 2 170W
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X AMD Radeon Graphics 12 24 Up to 5.6GHz 4.7GHz 76MB Gen 5 2 170W
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X AMD Radeon Graphics 8 16 Up to 5.4GHz 4.5GHz 40MB Gen 5 2 105W
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X AMD Radeon Graphics 6 12 Up to 5.3GHz 4.7Ghz 38MB Gen 5 2 105W

So where can you buy a new Ryzen 7000 CPU? Overclockers UK has already got stock in, with prices starting at £325.99 for the Ryzen 5 7600X and going all the way up to £779.99 for the Ryzen 9 7950X. The Ryzen 7 7700X and the Ryzen 9 7900X cost £428.99 and £598.99 respectively.

The first units will begin shipping out to customers soon. With the jump to Ryzen 7000, you are also going to need a new Socket AM5 motherboard. OCUK has quite a few of those in stock already too, but for now, the market is mostly focused on higher-end X670 and X670E motherboards. Cheaper B650 motherboards should start coming through at a later date.

The post Overclockers UK Spectra Gaming Indigo Prebuilt (12900KF + 3080) first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Getting into custom built PCs can be daunting for newcomers, with so many different components to choose from, it can be difficult to know where to start. Overclockers UK is aiming to make life easy with its new range of Spectra Gaming systems. These are all prebuilt and preconfigured, taking all the work out of getting a new gaming PC, with a range of systems aimed at different price points and levels of performance. Today, we review the top of the line Indigo model, retailing for £2500.

The Overclockers UK Spectra Gaming range is designed for people looking to get into PC gaming, or those who just want a solid gaming computer, without wanting to get right into the nitty gritty by speccing out the entire build. Instead, OCUK is trying to make things easy by focusing on the core spec of the CPU and GPU, recommending different combinations (from across their range) for different use cases.

There’s even a very quick quiz you can take on their website, which asks you what games you want to play, at what resolution, and at the end it recommends one of their new prebuilt systems depending on the spec you need.

The range starts at the low-end, with the Crimson system costing under £600, while we have the flagship Indigo model, priced at £2500. This boasts an i9-12900KF, RTX 3080 and 32GB DDR4 memory, alongside a 1TB NVMe SSD.

Specifications

  • Brand: Spectra Gaming
  • Model: Indigo Pre-Built Gaming PC
  • Motherboard: Intel Z690 DDR4 ATX Motherboard
  • Processor: Intel Core i9 12900KF 3.20GHz Processor
  • Dedicated Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 OC Graphics Card
  • Case: Phanteks Eclipse P500 Air ATX Case (Satin Black)
  • RGB Accessories: Digital RGB LED Strip – Combo Set
  • Power Supply: 850W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply
  • Primary Storage: M.2 1TB SSD
  • RAM: 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3200MHz Dual-Channel Kit
  • Operating System: Windows 11 Home 64-bit DVD
  • Water Cooling: AIO 360 DRGB CPU cooler, LGA1700 upgrade kit

Getting into the design and build of the Indigo then, we’ll start with the case, which is the Phanteks P500A, where the A stands for ‘Air', and we have the satin black colourway. Being the airflow model, we find a completely meshed front panel, allowing tons of cool air to be drawn into the system.

OCUK has put the liquid cooler's radiator at the front here, with three RGB fans intaking and pushing air through the radiator. The liquid cooler itself is the EK-AIO D-RGB 360mm, with a smart-looking RGB CPU block and braided tubing…however this discussion of individual components brings me onto one of the key points of the Spectra range.

If we look at the Indigo's spec sheet, as shown above,  it is deliberately vague, with no mention of specific manufacturers or models. The AIO is just listed as a ‘AIO 360 DRGB CPU cooler', for instance, while the SSD is listed as ‘M.2 1TB SSD'.

We asked OCUK about this and they told us it is very much deliberate as they are trying to take the focus away from specific models or SKUs, and instead keep the focus on the core spec to keep things easy for those who may not be familiar with all the different NVMe SSD options or which exact liquid cooler would be best. That also means the spec is not configurable, so you can’t chop and change different parts on their site.

OCUK also told us that this strategy allows them to swap out certain parts that may go EOL or out of stock without having to make a brand-new listing for the PC every time. If you’re concerned about this, OCUK will always try and go for as much of a like-for-like replacement as possible, so the 360mm EK RGB AIO wouldn’t be replaced with a bog-standard OEM model for instance – it would always be a similar RGB SKU, trying to match the overall performance, size, and aesthetic.

Just before moving on to look at the rest of the components, it is just worth confirming the airflow setup in the Indigo. We already mentioned the three radiator fans intaking at the front of the chassis, while there’s one 140mm in the roof and another in the rear of the case, both set as exhausts.

As for the motherboard, OCUK has gone with the ASUS TUF Gaming Z690 Plus WiFi D4. It’s proven to be a solid Z690 board in my testing and has not given me any cause for complaint, and as we show in the video, it runs the 12900KF at 4.9GHz as expected without drawing a ton of power. The ‘D4' in the name is also important as it means the board uses DDR4 memory, a smart decision from OCUK in my opinion as DDR5 is still more expensive and is unlikely to be of much benefit to the type of buyer considering a system like this.

The memory in question is offered in the form of 2x 16GB sticks of TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan Z. The kit is rated at 3200MHz, which is fine, but the timings are quite loose at 16-20-20-40, and that is a bit disappointing to see as other kits with tighter timings are available at more or less the same price.

As for storage, the only drive in the system is a 1TB NVMe SSD, installed underneath the motherboard’s SSD heatsink. Taking that off reveals it is a WD SN850, a very fast NVMe drive we have reviewed in the past, though for £2500 I would have hoped for more storage – a 1TB driver will fill up fairly quickly, so an extra 1-or-2TB 2.5in SATA SSD would have been great and they don’t cost much these days.

In terms of the graphics card, do remember that the specific model may vary, but our model has the the ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 3080 OC edition. I’ve reviewed this one myself and it’s a quality model and the RTX 3080 is still a very fast GPU at this point in 2022. I did notice a bit of sag however, it's nothing terrible but the card does droop slightly towards the end, so maybe OCUK could have installed a bracket there to support it, but it’s not awful.

Then we come to the PSU, which is another area of discussion. On the spec sheet, OCUK lists an ‘850W 80 Plus Bronze' unit will be used, but for me that’s just not good enough for a high-end system like this. I’m not saying it won’t work or that it will necessarily cause any issues, but 80 Plus Bronze in a £2.5K system just looks poor in my opinion – I’d say 80 Plus Gold should be the minimum here, and you really don’t want to cheap out on a PSU, especially with this sort of spec.

The specific model we have is the Seasonic B12, and a quick search on OCUK shows it’s actually discounted to £65. There is, however, a Seasonic G12, which is 80 Plus Gold, and that is on offer at £80 – it’s hardly any more expensive despite the big step up in efficiency, so for me that is a mis-step from OCUK. Again, I had no issues with my unit and you do still get the standard 3-year warranty on these systems, but for a high-end build like the Indigo, I’d definitely expect a lot more here.

That’s also my thinking when looking at cable management round the back of the PC. It’s certainly not the worst I’ve ever seen, but it doesn’t look like OCUK went to great effort to keep everything as tidy as possible. The CPU power cables, for instance, haven’t even been tied down and are just hanging loose. It works, everything’s plugged in correctly, and the side panel goes on without issue, but it is just not showing a huge amount of care in the appearance which I personally would find disappointing if I spent this much money on a gaming PC.

Confirming the core spec with CPU-Z and GPU-Z, we can see the Intel i9-12900KF, which boosts to 4.9GHz on the P-cores during sustained loads. The 32GB DDR4 memory offers 16-20-20-40 timings, while the RTX 3080 comes factory overclocked, with a 1785MHz boost clock.

Evangelion finally came to an end last year with the release of the fourth and final rebuild film, but the series is living on through plenty of collaborations. Recently, ASUS unveiled its own ROG x Evangelion hardware and now, Overclockers UK has put together a full Eva-themed pre-built gaming PC.

The Overclockers UK Genesis is powered with ASUS x Evangelion components, designed to take distinctive elements from the Unit-01 Eva. Hardware-wise, the PC includes the ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero EVA Edition and ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 EVA Edition – paired with a binned Intel Core i9-12900KS processor and 32GB DDR5 memory, as well as a WD_Black SN750 SE 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD for storage.

CPU cooling is handled by the Lian Li Galahad AIO SL 360mm cooler, equipped with three UNI SL120 RGB fans, and finally, we also have an ASUS ROG Strix 850W PSU, as well as a Lian Li Odyssey X case with a painted front panel to add some additional flair to the Eva theme.

Jonsbo is back with a new pair of cases for 2022. The new VR3 ITX and VR4 ATX cases include a removable inner chassis to make the building process nice and easy, as well as mesh panels for improved airflow.

The Jonsbo VR3 and VR4 are designed to be compact without compromising on ease of installation, offering a two-piece design for the interior and exterior. The exterior of the case is effectively a single piece, wrapping around the front and sides, attached to the bottom, and is designed to come away from the internal frame for easier building and maintenance.

When it comes to cooling, both cases feature mesh panels on the front and sides. The VR3 can use two 120mm or two 140mm fans, or a radiator up to 280mm long can slide into the front of the chassis. The larger VR4 can house up to four 120mm fans or two 140mm fans, or a radiator up to 360mm long.

The VR3 can also fit a ATX PSU up to 140mm long, a graphics card up to 325mm long, a CPU cooler up to 70mm tall, and up to two 2.5″ SSDs. If your GPU is only 185mm long, then you can also fit two 2.5″ HDDs alongside the two SSDs. The VR4 can fit ATX PSUs up to 200mm long, GPUs up to 345mm long and CPU coolers up to 167mm tall, as well as up to two 2.5″ SSDs and two 3.5″ HDDs.

The Jonsbo VR3 and VR4 PC cases are available now at Overclockers UK in both black and white colour options. The VR3 costs £134.99, while the VR4 costs £99.95.

It's the summer season and as always, there are a ton of sales going on right now. If you're looking to pick up some PC upgrades, now is a perfect time, and we've rounded up some of the best deals currently available during the OCUK Summer Sale.

The Overclockers UK Summer Sale is now live, running from the 1st of July all the way until the 12th of August. The first wave of deals is now live, offering up good savings on SSDs, power supplies, gaming laptops and cooling gear for your rig.

On the graphics card front, there are two GPUs on sale currently and stock is limited. The first is the Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming OC 16GB, which is down from £818.99 to £689.99. If you're after AMD's top-end GPU, then the ASRock Radeon RX 6900 XT Phantom Gaming D is also on sale, down from £1,199.99 to £899.99.

If you'd rather trade in your desktop for a portably gaming machine, then there are also plenty of laptop deals going at the moment. During the sale, you can get the RTX 3060-powered MSI Katana GF66 for £899.99, down from its usual £1,099.99 price point. The RTX 3070 Ti powered Gigabyte Aorus 15 XE5 offers a 12th Gen Core i7 and QHD/165Hz display for £1,749.95, down from £2,199.95. If you want something that will rival high-end desktops in a portable form-factor, then you are going to have to spend a bit extra. Currently, the Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 with RTX 3080 graphics, an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 and a 4K/120Hz display is down from £3,299.99 to £2,499.95.

If you are in need of a speedy storage boost, then there are a number of SSDs on sale too. The WD Blue SN570 1TB SSD is down to £86.99, the 2TB WD Black SN850 is down to £264.99 and the 1TB WD Black SN850 is down to £124.99.

If you need some extra cooling, or perhaps a dash of ARGB lighting in your system, then there is plenty to choose from there as well. Lian Li's immensely popular UNIFANs are currently on sale in single, dual and triple packs. The triple pack will cost you £59.99 and includes a controller for the lighting. If you want a double-pack, you can find those for £39.95 and finally, a single fan will cost you £14.99.

On the cooling front, the Phanteks Glacier One AIO range is on sale, including the 240mm and 360mm versions, coming in at £139.99 and £189.95 respectively. The Jonsbo ANGELEYES TW2 AIO cooler is down to £59.99, and the Corsair iCUE H100i Elite Capellix White cooler is down to £169.99.

If you're looking to build a new system from the ground up, you're going to need a reliable power supply. Currently, the Seasonic Focus GX-750 and GX-850 80Plus Gold PSUs are down to £84.95 and £102.95. Kolink's 80Plus Platinum rated Continuum 1050W PSU is also currently going at a discount, bringing the price down to £149.99.

This is just a selection of some of the deals happening during the OCUK Summer Sale. Some deals are subject to stock availability, so not every deal will be available all the way through to August 12th. However, we do know that OCUK has some other deals planned to go live over the next few weeks, so there will be new discounts going live periodically as well.

We've already seen the Phanteks P400 and the P600 series cases, but now we have a nice middle-ground option. Today, Phanteks launches the Eclipse P500A chassis, a matte white mid-tower case that provides plenty of airflow and room for high-end components.

The P500A has a mesh front panel and can house up to seven 120mm fans or six 140mm fans, and includes plenty of support for watercooling radiators. If you wanted a really big AIO, or even a custom loop, you can fit up to a 420mm radiator in the top of the case and up to a 360mm radiator in the front.

The Eclipse P500A has the form factor of a Mini-Tower ATX and can support up to an E-ATX motherboard with a maximum width of 280mm. The case offers clearance for a CPU cooler of up to 190mm tall and GPUs a maximum of 435mm long. Vertical GPU mounting is also supported when combined with the optional Riser cable, as the case offers 3 vertical slots in addition to the 7 standard PCIe slots.

The spacious case design also means no compromise when it comes to storage. The P500A can support up to ten 3.5″ HDD drives, as well as three additional 2.5″ SSD drives. The HDD bays can also be used to fit 2.5″ SSD drives. The front I/O features 1 x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C, 2 x USB 3.0, Microphone, Headphone, D-RGB Mode Button, D-RGB Colour Button, Reset Button, and Power Button.
