Numerous users have reported problems with Gigabyte RTX 30 and 40 series graphics cards, specifically related to physical damage. All instances seem to point to a design flaw that leads to cracks in the vicinity of the PCIe interface, leaving the PCIe lanes damaged and resulting in the GPU's inability to transfer data effectively and became unusable.

The issue was brought to light by Louis Rossmann, a prominent advocate for self-repair laws known for challenging companies that view unauthorised product repairs as a threat to their business. In the video uploaded by the YouTuber, he shared various images where we can see red arrow stickers placed by Gigabyte after receiving them via RMA claims.

It's important to note that physical damage of this nature falls outside the scope of the warranty, leaving users with broken cards that will not be repaired. As a result, many of these damaged Gigabyte cards, identified by the presence of stickers, are now being resold on platforms such as eBay. With the company's refusal to address the issue, gamers are attempting to recoup some of their investment by selling these faulty cards.

The silver lining is that the problem is fixable, as it does not involve permanent damage to the GPU, memory, or VRM (Voltage Regulator Module) components. PCB path repairs, which are a common practise in electronics repair, can rectify the issue. A step-by-step guide on fixing these graphics cards has already been published, but it is strongly recommended to entrust such repairs to professionals equipped with the necessary tools and expertise.

KitGuru says: Has anyone experienced an issue like this with a graphics card?

There's still much to learn about the upcoming Radeon RX 7000 series, but as the release of the new GPUs approaches, rumours and leaks will become more frequent. Just yesterday, a PCB diagram of a Radeon RX 7900 XT card leaked, revealing some of the components on the graphics card.

The leaked PCB layout obtained by Igor'sLAB supposedly belongs to an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT card. It's unclear if this is the reference design or a custom one. The layout shows the GPU die has seven chiplets inside, six MCDs (Memory Complex Die) and one GCD (Graphic Complex Die) at the centre. In addition, we can see the GPU is surrounded by three groups of four modules of GDDR6 memory for up to 24GB.

Surrounding the memory and the GPU, we have 21 voltage converters to handle the power directed at these components, as well as the SOC and VDDCI. Although the diagram doesn't confirm the number of phases, the leaker believes it will use eight, similar to Nvidia.

The diagram also shows the graphics card will be powered by 3x 8pin power connectors, meaning power consumption could be as high as 450W. However, the actual TBP should be lower than that. Moreover, the diagram suggests the card will have an HDMI interface and 3x DisplayPorts, but the standards are still unclear.

AMD hasn't yet introduced the Radeon RX 7000 series, but it shouldn't take long before we get a proper announcement for the upcoming graphics cards. Hopefully, this will happen before the year ends.

Nvidia hasn't announced its next-gen GeForce graphics cards yet, but details about the upcoming RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 appear to have begun leaking. After gathering information from various sources, Igor's Lab has put together PCB schematics for the upcoming GPU, revealing details on memory and pin layout.

According to Igor's Lab, the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 will share some similarities with the RTX 3090 Ti. The new GPU acts as a stepping stone for next-gen, by being the first graphics card to use a 16-pin PCIe 5.0 connector. It is also suggested that due to identical pin layouts, RTX 3090 Ti coolers will be able to be repurposed by board partners for custom-cooled RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 graphics cards.

A set of unofficial PCB schematics give a few more details, including 24x voltage converters beside the VRMs, plus another four for the memory, for a total of 28 (8x more than the RTX 3090). Moreover, there are 12x slots for GDDR6x modules, meaning a GPU paired with this PCB could feature up to 12GB using 1GB modules or 24GB using 2GB modules.

It is claimed that Nvidia may use a 600W TBP and upgrade to a 3-slot cooler for its next-gen Founders Edition graphics cards, while board partners are expected to use thicker 3.5-slot designs for additional cooling performance. With that in mind, expect GPUs to get bigger and heavier. We may also see a rise in graphics cards sold with AIO liquid coolers and water blocks installed.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: Considering the high power requirements to feed these cards, it's not surprising to see that board partners are opting for bigger heatsinks. After all, cooling massive chunks of iron with air can only do so much. If the power requirements keep increasing, only two options come to mind: AIBs will use alternative cooling methods, or chip manufacturers will have to focus on improving power efficiency.

The latest report on Intel Xe-HPG graphics cards includes a lot of new details about the upcoming GPU family. The PCB Intel is using for its flagship DG2 desktop graphics card has also leaked, giving us our best look yet at what to expect from Intel in the graphics card space.

Moore's Law is Dead's latest video brings numerous updates following earlier reports. As it seems, the 512 EU SKU is now boosting above 2.2GHz, and the current TDP target is now less than 235W.

Performance claims also suggest that performance has increased a bit. Most still claim it's similar to an RTX 3070 Ti, but some benchmarks put it “just below the RTX 3080”. Raytracing is stated to be “competitive”, but Nvidia likely still has the upper-hand here.

Moreover, multiple sources confirmed that there will be 256-bit, 192-bit, 128-bit, and 64-bit SKUs. The pricing of these cards is expected to be “aggressive”, with the flagship SKU coming in between $349 and $499.

As for the photo of the 512 EU model's PCB, there are some interesting things to note. Looking at the size of it, it seems bigger than Nvidia RTX 30 series' PCB, but considering this is an engineering sample, it may still be reduced. You can also see the PCB supports 2x soldered 8-pin power connectors, with room for a couple more.

If you pay attention to the photo, you can also see there are 8x memory slots around the GPU, therefore an 8/16GB configuration across a 256-bit memory bus is indeed possible.

The Xe-HPG 512 EU GPU is expected to release in Q1 2022, but a limited/paper launch in Q4 2021 is still a possibility. The first graphics card to release should be the 512 EU model, followed by the 128 EU and 256 EU models.

KitGuru says: It's still a bit hard to believe that Intel is about to launch a series of graphics cards to compete against Nvidia and AMD. There are still some questions around performance, pricing and availability versus the competition to consider.

Images of a supposed custom Colorful Nvidia RTX 3090/3080 have been leaked in a Chinese forum. In these images, we can see 11 memory modules that we suspect to be GDDR6X, based on reports that Micron has supplied 19-21 Gbps GDDR6 memory for the RTX 3090.

The PCB pictures shared by YuuKi_Ans at the Bilibili forum are partly blurred, but another picture with less blurred parts was shared later. The source initially claimed that this was a PCB from an RTX 3090, but recanted later stating, instead stating that it was from an RTX 3080. These images are from the back of the PCB, and the Intel CPU seen on the images was intentionally put on top of an external chip, which we presume to be a traversal coprocessor.

The first thing to pop out is the 11 memory modules around the GPU, meaning that it could be a graphics card with 11GB or 22GB of VRAM. Unfortunately, we are not sure if these chips are Micron GDDR6X because the serial numbers are also blurred. Other interesting things to note is the different Nvlink interface on the top right corner and the three 8-pin power connectors on the top left side, suggesting a TDP of up to 450W.

In other news, Micron confirmed in its Tech Brief that the RTX 3090 will be equipped with GDDR6X VRAM, but listed it with “only” 12GB of VRAM. Funnily enough, Micron also listed the Nvidia RTX Titan with 12GB of VRAM, but it actually comes with 24GB of VRAM. This contradicts the theory that the leaked pictures are from an RTX 3090.

Other specifications shared by Micron include a bandwidth of up to over 1 TB/s driven by a 384-bit bus and a clock speed ranging from 19GB/s to 21GB/s. You can download Micron Tech Brief HERE. Nvidia is expected to introduce the Nvidia RTX 30xx series during a special event scheduled for September 1st.

There have been rumours surrounding Nvidia's next GeForce graphics card launch circulating all year. At this point, we know that Nvidia does have an event scheduled for later this month. While we don't have confirmation that we'll definitely see the GTX 1180 there, the PCB of an upcoming Nvidia graphics card has leaked online this week.

A user of the forum Baidu recently posted two images of a new Nvidia GPU PCB. The photos indicate that this new card will support either 8GB or 16GB GDDR6 memory, and will have a 10-phase VRM powered through 6+8 pin power connectors.

Another thing worthy of note is that the SLI fingers are completely different. Videocardz speculates that this could be a sign of Nvidia implementing NVLink for gaming GPUs. As you can see from the images, the cut out for the GPU is quite small, indicating that we're looking at a GV104 core.

The certification logos and Nvidia branding indicate that this is a final PCB version for Nvidia's own reference design, rather than a custom partner card.

Nvidia is holding an event on the 20th of August in Germany, just ahead of Gamescom. It is believed that this ‘GeForce Gaming Celebration' will double as a launch platform for the GTX 1180 and this latest leak seems to support that theory.

KitGuru Says: Leaks like this tend to creep up within the first few weeks leading up to a big launch. It will be interesting to see what else pops up between now and the 20th, when Nvidia finally reveals what it has up its sleeve.

While there might have been a lot of talk recently surrounding the new Nvidia Titan Black GPU, partner company GALAXY has taken lemons and made rocket fuel, by producing a new version of the GTX 780 Ti that's managed to take the top spot on the single GPU 3Dmark Fire Strike Extreme results table.

This brand new 780 Ti makes use of the fully unlocked Kepler core GK110-425-B1 chip and according to the WCCFtech breakdown, runs at stock frequencies over a GHZ on the core. However, in this instance, overclocker and new 3Dmark record holder, Mad Tse pushed it to an eye watering 1800MHz.

The card is quite a looker too, with a stark white, extended PCB and features 16 core phases, two memory phases and three extra phases for the PLL. Of course with all this though, the power draw is quite high: over 300 watts. This is why you'll notice it takes twin eight pin and a single six pin connector for power.

No word on what the final heatsink/fan combination will be for this card, but expect a lot of fins and a lot of heatpipes. Pricing and a release date are also being kept under wraps, for now.

KitGuru Says: A white PCB is certainly a bit different and will no doubt catch the eye of system modders as much as overclockers. Any of you tempted by the idea of a stark white GPU with crazy performance?

If you're a geek of a certain age, then you will remember the thrill of vinyl records. Because of the relatively low cost to stamp out a few more, a lot of bands would create limited editions in strange and wonderful coloured plastics. If you were really into a band, then you'd want your record of choice ‘on white vinyl'.  If we're reading the OcUK correctly, you can now get this exclusivity for graphics.

It's nice to be different.

As teenagers, when we first achieve a level of independence, we put a load effort into being different for the sake of it.

Later on, that effort mutates into taste.

The same goes for brands – in all product categories. They begin by wanting to stand out any way they can – and later they will work out what they really stand for.

KFA2 is a little different. The brand's ethos and graphics have been strong and distinctive from the start. With such a clear identity, it makes you wonder how KFA2 can differentiate its products even further – for example around a major launch like that for nVidia's highly desirable GTX770.

This version is pure white.

Yep, that should stand out.

Not only is the colour completely different, but it also uses a much more advanced triple-fan/5 heat pipe cooling configuration to reduce temperatures and noise.

That also means, at launch, it promises to be the fastest ‘out of the box' GTX770 experience in the world.

Not bad.

The standard GTX770 cards are around the £350 mark – so the £359 OcUK are asking for when this card launches on 1st July seems like a reasonable price, given the improved cooling, audio and pixel-punching performance (2.4GHz shader clock innit).

KitGuru says: While the card itself looks gorgeous, the real ‘win' here seems to be the fact that Overclockers has secured a pan-European on what promises to be the fastest GTX770 in the world at launch.

Only our most eagle-eyed readers will be able to tell the difference between this latest kit of Kingston's HyperX Beast memory and the one we reviewed back in December here.

While the performance credentials of the two kits are identical, Kingston have added the option of a black PCB to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the HyperX series. We imagine that the meticulous enthusiasts out there who would go to the end of the earth to colour co-ordinate their systems will love this option.

Kingston were kind enough to send us one of these new memory kits so we've taken a few photographs so that you can have a close up view and see how they look.  We have also included some photos from the original article for comparison purposes.
