MSI is well-known for its gaming laptops and today it is revealing its brand new GS40 Phantom series of notebooks, based on Intel's latest generation Skylake processors and Nvidia's Maxwell-based graphics chips all packed in to a powerful 14-inch form factor, bringing you a truly capable gaming experience on the go. The jump to the Core i7 6700HQ processor provides a 20 per cent performance boost over the previous Core i7 4720HQ, while also being 50 per cent faster than other U-series Core i7 chips.

It packs a decent punch in the graphics department as well, with the GTX 970m, which delivers pretty solid performance at 1080p, as shown by some of our previous gaming notebook reviews.

Built as a trimmed-down version of the award winning Phantom 820, does NZXT's Ultra Tower Phantom 630 have what it takes to compete in a circa-£150 case market?

We reviewed NZXT's Phantom 820 full tower chassis in February and were thoroughly impressed by its useful features and unique design. But for many consumers who weren't interested in multi-GPU configurations and extreme watercooling, the full tower dimensions and £200 price tag made the 820 overkill for their requirements. With the Phantom 630, NZXT has shrunk the case and slashed £50 off the asking price, making it a more viable option for the upper mid-range market.

Other than the reduced dimensions, perhaps the most noteworthy loss from the Phantom 820 is the 630's omission of an integrated LED lighting system. The Phantom 630 still supports a large number of storage drives – 8 – and motherboard compatibility is practically limitless for most users. Quad-VGA configurations are easily tackled by the Phantom 630's nine expansion slots, and watercooling users still have room for 360, 240/280 and 120/140 mm radiators simultaneously, without modifications.

NZXT seems to have managed to cram an impressive number of features into the ultra tower Phantom 630, but has this process introduced any flaws along the way?

Featuring the same unique style that gamers and enthusiasts across the globe have grown to love, NZXT's Phantom 820 aims to prove that bigger IS better. Has NZXT created yet another worthwhile addition to its critically-acclaimed Phantom series?

With the ability to house gargantuan XL-ATX motherboards and multi-VGA configurations, the NZXT Phantom 820 is able to tend to the requirements of extreme enthusiasts. Cooling capacity comes in the form of mounts for up to nine fans, four of which are included.

Water Cooling enthusiasts will be pleased by the Phantom 820's ability to simultaneously house a 360 and 280/240 mm radiator, as well as additional single-fan units.

Has NZXT repeated the recipe for success with the Phantom 820? Or is a large serving of overkill fresh on the menu?
