Pancake Day is fast approaching and TPV Cares, AOC, and MMD have teamed up to hold a special charity event to celebrate the day and help raise some funds. Gamers will get the chance to win a range of great prizes, and there's some great activities lined up, including a Mario kart tournament and, as is tradition, some pancake-making.

Intending to raise awareness (and cash) by using the power of video games to help physically challenged gamers, ill children, and young people in hospitals, this charity event is a chance to show everyone that the gaming community can make a real change. All proceeds raised will be split equally between The RockinR, and SpecialEffect, so it's a great way to show support for the work being done by these two charities.

Platform Shoreditch in London will host the event in the evening of February 13th, 6-10pm. Here, you can join in with a Mario Kart gaming tournament, participate in raffles, and even whip up some pancakes. If you can't join in person, KitGuru will be part of a special online program where a donation of just £1 (or more!) could win you a gaming monitor! If you're interested in attending, please join HERE.

In addition, there will be a Just Giving campaign as part of this event to raise £5,000. Any donations are greatly appreciated, and you can also help by sharing this event with everyone you know. Whether you share it via social media, your Discord server, or directly to friends, every bit is helpful.

Philips has recently launched a new gaming monitor called Evnia 27M1N5500P for the Chinese market. This 27-inch monitor resembles the Momentum 5000 27M1F5500P, launched in May 2022. However, unlike the 2022 model that uses a true 10-bit panel, the new monitor uses one with 8-bit + FRC.

The Evnia 27M1N5500P boasts a 27-inch IPS panel with 2560×1440 resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz. However, the monitor is limited to a refresh rate of 144Hz when connected via HDMI due to the choice to include HDMI 2.0 connectors. To enjoy the full 240Hz refresh rate, the monitor's single DisplayPort 1.4 port must be used.

With 1ms GtG reaction times, 450 nits peak brightness, 1.07 billion colours (8-bit + FRC), and a contrast ratio of 1,200:1, this monitor should offer a pretty good gaming experience. It is also VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified and covers 90% of the Adobe RGB colour palette (99.8% sRGB), making it suitable for graphic designers. The included ergonomic stand allows users to tilt, adjust height, swivel, and pivot. Alternatively, you can replace the stand with a monitor arm (VESA 100×100).

In China, the Evnia 27M1N5500P is priced at CNY 1,999 (about $282). However, it doesn't seem exclusive to the region, as Philips has already published the English-language product overview (via Notebookcheck).

KitGuru says: If Philips prices the Evnia 27M1N5500P in Europe and the US at the same price as in China, this monitor could easily become a sales success.

The Philips Evnia range has impressed so far and the company is looking to continue that streak with its new 32-inch curved monitor. The Philips Evnia 32M2C5500W combines QHD resolution, HDR and a 240Hz refresh rate to deliver on all fronts for high-end PC gaming, while keeping prices at a reasonable level.

Designed to cater to the needs of modern gamers, the Philips Evnia 32M2C5500W comes with an impressive range of features. Its 32-inch curved (1000R) VA display has a Quad HD resolution (2560 x 1440) and a 4000:1 contrast ratio. With an 8-bit colour depth, 92% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage (100% NTSC and 122% sRGB) and 500 nits of brightness, the monitor was eligible to receive VESA's DisplayHDR400 certification.

The new Philips Evnia monitor delivers in other areas, too. With a frame rate of 240Hz, FreeSync Premium Pro, and a 0.5ms response time (MPRT), users can expect fluid, fast, and judder-free gameplay. To top it off, the Philips Evnia 32M2C5500W is packed with features that prioritize user comfort and convenience, like the EasySelect feature to navigate through the OSD and LowBlue mode and Flicker-Free technology to reduce eyestrain. The Compact Ergo Base offers tilt, swivel, and height adjustment so you can easily set it to the right height and angle for optimal viewing.

Philips's new monitor comes calibrated out-of-the-box (ΔE < 2 sRGB) and will be released later this month with a retail price of £429.99.

Philips is back with a new SuperWide display. The new Philips 49B2U5900CH boasts a massive 49-inch display with 32:9 aspect ratio and 5120×1440 resolution, giving tons of screen space for productivity tasks.

The Philips 49B2U5900CH is geared towards productivity, with a USB-C docking station, a pop-up webcam with a Busylight function, enabling professionals to sync with Microsoft Teams so colleagues can quickly tell if there is a team call going on. The webcam also supports Windows Hello, so you can unlock your PC swiftly with a scan of your face.

Several functions make the Philips 49B2U5900CH ideal for work. Naturally, the most obvious benefit here is the large SuperWide display, offering the equivalent of two QHD monitors side by side with no bezels in the way. It also has a KVM switch, so you can manage multiple systems with one keyboard and mouse. The USB-C docking station enables 100W of power delivery too, so you can swiftly charge or power additional devices.

Other key features include DisplayHDR 400 certification, SmartImage technology, and TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe certification. The Philips 49B2U5900CH monitor will be available for purchase from mid-November and with a MSRP of £949.99.

Philips is expanding its gaming monitor portfolio with a new high-end model featuring a 49-inch QD-OLED panel. However, performance isn't all this monitor has to offer. Featuring Evnia's iconic design, the Philips 49M2C8900 has been awarded an iF Design Award and a Red Dot Design Award.

The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, which boasts a 49-inch ultra-wide QD-OLED curved panel (1800R) with a resolution of 5120×1440, a response time of 0.03ms, and a 240Hz refresh rate, was released this week. The display has a 10-bit colour bit depth and a typical brightness of 250 nits, but it peaks at 1000 nits. With that, it covers 153.1% of the sRGB colour space, 125.2% of the Adobe RGB colour space, 127.4% of the NTSC colour space, and 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space.

The new monitor features VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification and comes factory calibrated with DeltaE < 2 (sRGB). For connectivity, there are two HDMI 2.1 inputs, DisplayPort 1.4, four USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-B upstream port, a USB-C connector with 90W power delivery and DP Alt Mode, and a headphone jack.

The monitor's enclosure follows a similar design to the latest Evnia monitor, with a sleek design using a silver and white theme. One thing that makes it stand out from its competitors is the 3-sided Ambiglow, a technology used by Philips on TVs that creates a light halo around the monitor based on the colour of the content on the display. Moreover, it features an ergonomic stand that adjusts up to 120mm in height, +/-20 degrees in swivel, and -5 to 15 degrees in tilt.

Like other OLED gaming monitors available today, this one is very pricey, coming in at £1,649.

Amazon Prime Day is officially live until July 12th and there are plenty of PC deals to be found. Here, we take a look at the best gaming monitor deals, with 240Hz monitors dropping to just £200.

There are many discounted monitors available on Amazon for Prime Day, ranging from high-end ultrawide and 4K displays to more cost-effective 1440p and 1080p monitors. These are all gaming displays, which for us, means anything offering at least 120Hz. In most cases, the monitors we've picked out offer much more than that.

We'll start off at the high-end of the market. The Corsair Xeneon Flex is an interesting monitor, offering the ability to physically bend the monitor to switch between a flat and curved display. It offers an OLED 240Hz 45-inch panel with 3440×1440 resolution. It impressed us in our review, but its £2000 price tag did sting. Currently for Prime Day, this monitor is down to £1,399, a 33% saving.

If you would rather have a super-wide display, then the increasingly popular Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is currently down to £1,499, offering a 49-inch 5120×1440 display with HDR and 240Hz refresh rate.

Samsung has a couple of other good options at different price points. For £999, you can get the Odyssey Neo Quantum G8 Mini LED monitor, offering 4K/240Hz and HDR in a 32-inch display. The Odyssey G7 offers 1440 at 240Hz and HDR for £449.

The MSI Optix MAG35 is down from £449 to £399, offering a 34-inch 3440×1440 ultrawide display with 144Hz refresh rate, making this one of the better ultrawide deals available for those looking to spend less than £500. The MSI MPG Artymis 27 is also worth a shoutout, offering a 27-inch 1440p/165Hz display for £299.

The Philips Gaming 32M1 is down to £225, offering a 32-inch QHD display and 165Hz refresh rate.

Finally, if you are after a cheap 1080p gaming monitor, there are plenty of options at and under the £200 mark. The Samsung Odyssey G4 is down from £299 to £209. You'll have to settle for 1080p at 27 inches. As the display is larger than a typical 24-inch 1080p display, you get less pixels per inch, so it is a trade-off to be aware of.

If you prefer 1080p in a smaller package, then the AOC Gaming C24 is a great option, at just £124.99, this monitor offers a 24-inch 1080p display with a 165Hz refresh rate, making it an ideal and cheap entry point into high refresh rate gaming.

This is just a selection of some of the deals that stood out to us but there are plenty of other deals to be found. If you are looking for a new monitor, you can find all of the deals HERE.

Philips will soon launch a new business monitor on the market – the 40B1U6903CH. This monitor offers a range of features that make it an excellent choice for professionals seeking fast data transfers and high-quality visuals.

The 40B1U6903CH's standout feature is its Thunderbolt 4 docking solution, which allows users to transfer data at a rapid speed of 40 Gbps with bidirectional bandwidth. The ports are compatible with previous Thunderbolt cable connections, USB, and DisplayPort, meaning you can connect a wide variety of devices to the monitor. With this technology, professionals can benefit from fast data transfers, a speedy Ethernet connection (1 Gbps), and the ability to deliver 90W of power to connected devices, so you can charge up your portables, like a laptop, smartphone or tablet.

Another noteworthy feature is its built-in 5MP webcam optimised for video conferencing. The monitor also includes a noise-cancelling microphone, perfect for reducing unwanted background noise during a call. The 5MP webcam is certified with Windows Hello, allowing users to log in to their Windows accounts quickly and securely using advanced facial recognition sensors. The 40B1U6903CH is certified as TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe RPF 50, which means it has a built-in blue light filter to reduce potential eye strain caused by long exposure to blue light. Additionally, the monitor boasts a peak luminance of 400nits, 5120×2160 resolution, and 75Hz refresh rate, and is certified with VESA DisplayHDR 400.

The 40-inch monitor is designed with user comfort in mind. It features an earphone hook and Compact Ergo Base that allows for tilt and swivel adjustments. Furthermore, it packs a MultiClient Integrated KVM switch, allowing you to control two systems from a single keyboard and mouse set. Additionally, the PowerSensor feature helps reduce energy costs by automatically adjusting the screen's brightness when the monitor is not in use, resulting in potential energy savings of up to 80%. The Philips 40B1U6903CH business monitor will be available for purchase starting this month with a price tag of £1499.99.

Philips first unveiled its new Evnia brand back in October 2022 and since then, the company has gone on to reveal a full line-up of impressive monitors, including some excellent value 240Hz displays and high-end OLED monitors. Now, Evnia has officially launched in the UK.

Evnia has a total of five monitors on the market so far, including two 34-inch and 42-inch OLED displays for fans of larger screens, and smaller 25-inch and 27-inch monitors for those looking to game at 1080p or 1440p at high refresh rates.

We'll start off with the entry-level Evnia monitors – the Philips Evnia 25M2N3200W and the 25M2N5200P. Both of these monitors have been designed with gamers in mind, providing considerably high refresh rates of 240Hz and 280Hz, respectively, ensuring that even the most intense action sequences remain smooth with clear, accurate images free of juddering and ghosting. Both are reasonably priced too, coming in at £179.99 and £269.99 respectively.

Next up is the Evnia 27M2C5500W, which packs a 27-inch curved VA panel with QHD resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms G2G response time. It also adds DisplayHDR 400, which is entry-level for HDR, but at its current price of £429.99, we'd say it's a good value-add.

Finally, we come up to Evnia's two flagship OLED displays – the Philips Evnia 34M2C8600 and the Philips Evnia 42M2N8900.

Philips Evnia 34M2C8600. This monitor comes with a Quantum Dot OLED panel, measuring in at 34 inches. You get plenty of speed for gaming thanks to the 175Hz refresh rate and 0.1ms response time. The panel also boasts HDR capabilities, with this monitor being DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified. Other key features of the monitor include a USB-C port, a KVM switch and a height-adjustable stand.

The Philips Evnia 42M2N8900 is a 42-inch OLED display, so you'll need a large desk if you plan on using it as a day-to-day monitor. The OLED display is 10-bit, so you'll get decent colour accuracy. For gaming, the display has a 0.1ms response time as well as a 138Hz maximum refresh rate for smooth and responsive gameplay.

The Philips Evnia OLED displays are priced at £1,149 and £1,499 respectively.

One of the key selling points of an Evnia display versus a regular gaming monitor is the design. Evnia displays are designed to do away with the typical design elements we see in gaming-oriented hardware, opting for a sleeker, modern design that looks good in the home or the office.

Full HD gaming monitors are still relevant nowadays. If you want a +200Hz refresh rate monitor but are on a tight budget, an FHD monitor is likely the best option. As such, Philips has announced two new Evnia monitors that could be of interest.

The new Philips Evnia 25M2N3200W and the Philips Evnia 25M2N5200P have been designed with gamers in mind, providing considerably high refresh rates of 240Hz and 280Hz, respectively. This ensures that even the most intense action sequences remain ultra-fast and ultra-smooth, with clear, accurate images free of juddering and ghosting.

Depending on your preference, the Evnia monitors come with a 24.5-inch VA (25M2N3200W) or IPS (25M2N5200P) panel and pixel response times as low as 1ms GtG. Both monitors have 1080p resolution, 178/178 wide viewing angles, and an 8-bit colour depth. They also come equipped with SmartImage HDR modes, providing optimal colour, brightness, and contrast. The Philips Evnia 25M2N5200P also has a USB hub and features such as MBR Sync, DarkBoost, and Smart Crosshair.

The ergonomic stand on both monitors is height-adjustable, with swivel, tilt, and pivot functions to provide the best comfort for extended playing sessions. Additionally, the monitors come with LowBlue mode and Flicker-Free technology, which reduce eye strain and fatigue, ensuring gamers can play without discomfort.

The Philips Evnia 25M2N3200W and the Philips Evnia 25M2N5200P will be available from mid-May 2023, priced at £179.99 and £269.99.

According to analysts, there are over 2.5 billion gamers on Earth, with 323 million of them living in Europe. This market generates close to £28 billion, creating a rich market that is bound to attract innovation and R&D spending. We recently met up with the teams at Philips/Evnia/AOC/AGON to see what's on the horizon in the gaming monitor market.

According to data specialists NewZoo, there are now more than 2.5 billion gamers on planet Earth. Over 323 million of them live in Europe and, of those, 125 million prefer gaming on their PC.

Right now, TPV (the company behind Philips, AOC, Agon and Evnia) produces almost one-third of the world’s displays – including the underlying technology for many products that would normally be seen as ‘rival brands’. That’s an interesting position to be in if the global production for panels hits a projected 182 million units by the end of 2023. When it comes to monitors sold in Europe, the combined Philips/AOC brands are now in the number two spot, but – according to Xeni Bairaktari, Global Marketing Lead of Philips Monitors and IT Accessories – they are aiming even higher.

Graphics card prices are finally coming down and the latest GPUs deliver a phenomenal amount of frames per buck – as detailed in Dominic’s recent analysis of this subject. While there is still a big emphasis on image quality, technologies like DLSS from Nvidia and FidelityFX from AMD, mean that average throughput is reaching new heights.

To keep pace, modern gaming monitor designers are having to look past yesterday’s refresh rates – focusing on 240Hz and beyond. The following chart is based on sell-in data from retail research specialist Context. It shows how the market is evolving when it comes to high-end monitor technologies. As you can see, QHD and UHD now account for 34% of screens sold in this market – with 21:9 and 32:9 ultra-wide screen ratios set to become more popular.

2020 2021 2022 2023
144/165Hz 67% 60% 52% 47%
QHD 23% 26% 27% 30%
240Hz+ 6% 10% 13% 17%
UltraWide 6% 6% 10% 10%
UHD 0% 1% 3% 4%
OLED/MiniLED N/A N/A N/A 2%

From a time when 1ms GtG responses were considered premium, we’re now looking at OLED panels capable of moving from grey to grey in 0.03ms. At some point, the market may need to consider moving from milliseconds to microseconds when describing screen speeds. Lastly, in terms of new technologies, MiniLED brings in a high peak brightness and the possibility of more than 1,150 local dimming zones.

All of these technologies and more can be found in the latest products released under the dedicated gaming brands Evnia and Agon.

Down in the Evnia 3000 series, they are launching the 25M2N3200W monitor that offers a VA panel with FHD resolution, 100% sRGB and a refresh rate of 240Hz. It will retail close to £199.

Much faster will be the Evnia 25M2N5200P. As we reported back in April, this 5000 series screen comes with adaptive sync, but with an IPS panel refreshing at 280Hz – we’re not sure you’ll need it. The display promises good image quality as it covers 110% of the sRGB colour space. It also meets the HDR10 spec and includes a four-port USB hub as well as offering a 1ms GtG response time, for a price close to £270.

One of the fastest growth areas for Philips/Evnia/AOC/Agon is in ‘very fast refresh’ rate panels. The demand for screens that can refresh at 240Hz or more has almost tripled since 2020. The new Agon Pro AG6 series looks to capitalise on that demand, by offering the latest OLED panels in a frameless design, minimal desktop footprint, integrated cable management, HDR, 0.03ms GtG and a 98.5% DCI gamut. The AG6 series also has an integrated Agon Light FX RGB system, capable of more than 10,000 combinations. The monitor we were shown is the AG276QZD and it will be a QHD unit. It's expected to be in store for less than £1,000 before the end of June 2023.

If you fancy something more substantial on your desk, then the Agon AG405UXC might be worth a look. This screen has a 40” wide IPS panel that refreshes at 144Hz with a 1ms response time. As well as HDR400 and an integrated USB hub, it also has a 90w USB-C port with KVM support. Also arriving in June, the AG405UXC will be in stores for less than £699. It would be interesting to see this size of screen offered with a curved design, but that can drive up the price, so we'll have to wait and see which way the company decides to go.

Another point emphasised during the presentation was the idea that we should all be demanding higher pixel density. We were told that while 80 pixels per inch is considered far too low for most users, many people will be happily gaming with a screen that has a PPI between 90 and 110. For those who want a 24” QHD monitor that has a much higher pixel density, there is a new AOC Q24 G2A, featuring a new IPS panel with a density of 123 PPI. Depending on exchange rates, this could be in the market for as little as £220.

Completing the new launches is the GH501 wireless headset. This is due to land in July with a 70-hour battery, tuned 50mm drivers, DTSX audio, a choice of ear muff types (soft touch and leather-like are both included in the box) and a price tag of close to £87.

We expect the number of launches under the Evnia and Agon brands to increase throughout this year and beyond.

KitGuru says: Spec-wise, there are plenty of alternatives to the Evnia 25M2N5200P. However, in terms of design, most come with the typical gaming aesthetics that some prefer to avoid. That's where the new Evnia 25M2N5200P stands out.

Now, Philips is announcing the 45B1U6900CH, another version of the monitor, but with a built-in pop-up 5MP webcam and noise-cancelling microphone.

Like the Philips 45B1U6900C, the 45B1U6900CH has a 45-inch panel with 5120×1440 resolution, with 178°/178° viewing angles, DisplayHDR 400 capabilities, and a MultiClient Integrated KVM switch so you can control a dual-PC setup with one monitor and one keyboard/mouse, allowing you to reduce clutter and simplify your setup.

This monitor is primarily designed for professionals. It comes with a USB-C docking hub with RJ45, allowing you to connect a laptop to the monitor with USB-C and gain wired access to the network. The USB-C hub also has 100W power delivery, DisplayPort Alt mode and more. To help users work in almost any ambient light setting, the monitor’s TUV Rheinland Eyesafe RPF 50 certification ensures protection against blue light-induced eyestrain.

The big difference between the C and the CH versions is the built-in webcam and microphone. The webcam and microphone offer convenient and easy access to video conferencing. The webcam can be pushed back down and hidden away when not in use. The webcam also supports Windows Hello, so you can quickly log into your PC with a quick face scan.

While the 45B1U6900C is available at £939.99, the 45B1U6900CH is a little more expensive due to the built-in webcam and microphone, bumping the price up to £1029.99

Back in October 2022, Philips launched its new Evnia brand, with plans to deliver a trio of high-end gaming displays. Now, we're starting to see the rollout, with two Evnia displays hitting the market this week – a 175Hz QHD ultrawide, as well as a large 4K OLED display.

We'll start off with the Philips Evnia 34M2C8600.

The second monitor launching today is the Philips Evnia 42M2N8900. As part of the Evnia 8000 series, this is one of the flagship monitors in the Evnia line-up. Like the name implies, this is a 42-inch OLED display, so you'll need a large desk if you plan on using it as a day-to-day monitor.

The OLED display is 10-bit, so you'll get decent colour accuracy. For gaming, the display has a 0.1ms response time as well as a 138Hz maximum refresh rate for smooth and responsive gameplay.

Both the Evnia 34M2C8600 and the Evnia 42M2N8900 feature Philips Ambiglow lighting too, so you can add some extra visual flair to your setup.

The Philips Evnia 34M2C8600 is available starting now, priced at £1,149. The Philips Evnia 42M2N8900 is also available as of today, priced at £1,499.

The Philips Evnia 27M2C5500W is the latest member to join the Evnia family. The 27-inch QHD gaming monitor combines a lightning-fast 240 Hz refresh rate with a compact, ergonomic design and a wide variety of high-performance features, designed to offer a high-quality gaming experience.

The Evnia 27M2C5500W packs a 27-inch curved VA panel with 25% SAG coating, QHD resolution, 240Hz refresh rate (via DisplayPort) and a 1ms G2G response time (1ms MPRT). Like most VA panels, it offers a 3000:1 contrast ratio, which can be further enhanced using Mega Infinity DCR. Brightness peaks at 400nits, and the colour spectrum coverage is 98.5% for NTSC and 119% for sRGB. It's also VESA Display HDR400 certified.

As you would expect from a gaming monitor, it supports AMD Freesync Premium in its Pro version, meaning low framerate compensation (LFC) works in both SDR and HDR modes. In addition, it features multiple HDR modes that you can choose depending on the content being displayed on the screen, as well as MultiView to view two sources simultaneously for improved multitasking.

Connectivity-wise, there are two HDMI 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort 1.4, and USB hub with four type A ports, of which two support fast charge. The included stand has decent ergonomic capacities, allowing you to swivel, tilt, and adjust the height. The Philips Evnia 27M2C5500W will be available for £429.99 starting at the end of January.

Sales season has begun, with Black Friday discounts now live for a wide range of products. If you happen to be shopping around for a new monitor, then there are more than a few good deals to be found.

Philips and AOC have gone big for Black Friday this year with decent savings to be had across the board. The top-end Philips Gaming 32M1N5800A for instance includes a 32-inch 4K panel with 144Hz refresh rate, HDR and HDMI 2.1 connectivity for compatibility with new-gen consoles as well as PCs. For Black Friday, the monitor can be found for £130 less than its usual price on Amazon and Box.

The Philips 27M1N5200P offers 1080p/240Hz gaming. Typically, this monitor goes for over £300, but currently, it is down to just under £230 at Amazon, Box, ebuyer and CCL. If you'd prefer a 1440p option, the 27M1N5500ZA is down to £286.99 at Amazon, Box, ebuyer and CCL, with a 27-inch 1440p panel with 175Hz maximum refresh rate.

If a 24-inch monitor is what you are after, then the Philips 24G2SPU monitor delivers 1080p gaming at 165Hz for just £129.99, which is a steal for a budget gaming setup.

On the AOC side, you have even more great options, particularly for those looking to get a high refresh rate monitor without spending hundreds of pounds. If you want the biggest monitor you can get for your money, then the AOC Gaming C32G2ZE delivers a 32-inch panel with 240Hz refresh rate and has AMD FreeSync Premium for £218. 32-inches is pretty large for a FullHD monitor, so a 27-inch display may be better suited at this resolution. The AOC Gaming C27G2ZU has a 27-inch FHD/240Hz panel instead and costs just £178.99 at the moment.

If you are happy to sacrifice some refresh rate for a resolution boost, then the AOC Q27G2E/BK is worth a look, coming in at less than £190, it has a 27-inch QHD/155Hz display with 1ms response time, making it ideal for competitive gaming. You can get the FHD/240Hz version of this monitor for the same price on Amazon.

The final deal on our list today is the AOC Gaming 24G2SPU, a 24-inch FHD monitor with 165Hz refresh rate, coming in at £160.

Philips has been making an impressive push in the gaming display market recently. This month, the company is launching something a bit different – the Philips 27B1U7903 is a creativity-focused monitor, aiming for high-quality visuals and performance-boosting features, while also delivering the newest connectivity standards.

The Philips 27B1U7903 features a 27-inch 4K Mini LED panel and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity for easy setup and docking. Compared to other Mini LED displays, this one packs a much larger number of lighting zones, moving up from the typical 576 zone backlighting to 2,304 zone backlighting. This in turn helps the monitor achieve higher contrast ratios and excellent HDR performance.

The spec sheet shows that this monitor is certified with DisplayHDR 1400, so you'll get deeper blacks, brighter whites and more realistic colours, highlights and shadows in supported HDR content. The monitor will fit nicely with almost any desk setup too, thanks to its four-sided frameless design and integrated cable management through the monitor stand.

Speaking of the stand, it offers swivel, tilt and height adjustment. Philips has also integrated a PowerSensor, which can help save on energy use by up to 80 percent when enabled. The Philips 27B1U7903 is now available, priced at £1199.

Philips has been releasing gaming-oriented displays for a while now, and we've seen a lot of improvements in the Momentum line of monitors. Now, Philips is preparing for another big push into the gaming market, with a new dedicated brand – Evnia.

Inside the surreal environment of the Stade de France national stadium in Paris, as the rain fell across the pitch, Philips assembled the world's media to announce Evnia, a new brand of monitors purely aimed at the gaming market. One of the first products to arrive will be a curved 32” monitor with 1,152 zone mini-LED lighting, enabling HDR1400 with a 165Hz refresh rate (although it comes with the rather less catchy name ‘34M2C7600MV’). It’s an ultra-wide QHD screen with a native resolution of 3,440×1,440. Naturally, it features Philips’ Ambiglow technology. On paper, it offers an impressive spec – so what else does the Evnia brand promise?

The brand name itself comes from the combination of two Greek words, which combine to give the meaning ‘Smart Thinking’ and that’s what the powers that be at Philips are hoping to actualise. The first thing you notice with the new screens and associated peripherals is that they tend to be much brighter than we’re used to seeing in gaming products. According to Philips, the Evnia brand will add freshness as well as a premium feel and a sense of elegance. That aspiration is certainly reflected in the pricing – with the flagship 34M2C7600MV likely to be on sale in the UK toward the end of December, at around the £2,000 mark.

January will see the launch of the rest of the initial range of monitors, with various specifications and price points (but similar external styling – bold digit indicates ‘series'), including:-

 • 42” Flat OLED 42M2N8900 with 138Hz refresh rate – also close to £2,000
 • 34” Curved QD OLED 34M2C8600 with 175Hz refresh rate – around £1,800
 • 27” VA Curved Screen 27M2C5500W – likely to be under £600

Increased competition in any market is likely to have a positive impact on customer choice and that’s always a good thing. When branching out, major brands will often cite a specific influence on their process – a specific situation, event or person that sparked the innovation. With Evnia, that person is Sylvia ‘QueenArrow’ Gathoni, a 24-year-old esports player from Kenya, who in 2018 became the first East African woman to sign with a major professional team. Having started gaming when she was just three years old, Sylvia has risen to win tournaments and to become the first-ever Kenyan Athlete to be sponsored by Red Bull. Somewhere along the line, she found time to complete university and she now has a degree in law. Philips wanted input on its new range of monitors and Sylvia has been providing key feedback from a gamer perspective.

The Evnia monitor range will follow a standard Good/Better/Best strategy – with each series picking up product numbers in the 3000, 5000 and 7-8000 range. In summer 2023, we will see a full set of peripherals being released in each range – with increasingly advanced features as you move up through the price categories.

The Evnia 7000 series wireless gaming peripherals will include headsets with DTS X 2.0, ergonomic mice with true 20,000 DPI and mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX switches. All of these will offer Ambiglow and Philips P-Centre control.

Overall, Philips wants its new gaming brand to offer peak performance products, but with a look/feel that is universally welcoming – and all built using sustainable materials and methods where possible. Estimates show that close to half the world’s population will be gaming after 2025 and Philips wants to create products that will appeal to the fastest-growing parts of that market.

Philips has been launching many gaming monitors in the last few years, and that trend continues this month. The company has recently introduced the Momentum 34M1C5500VA, a curved gaming monitor with an ultrawide panel and a high refresh rate.

The 34-inch VA panel has a 1500R curvature and 3440×1440 resolution. With 4ms G2G response time (1ms MPRT) and 165Hz refresh rate, gamers should have a decent experience with this monitor. Typical brightness is set at 300 nits and the contrast ratio at 3000:1, which is commonplace for VA panels. With an 8-bit colour depth, the screen can cover 120.7% of the sRGB colour gamut and 100% of the NTSC spectrum.

Besides supporting Adaptive Sync, PiP, PbP and low blue light and EasyRead modes, the 34M1C5500VA also features SmartImage HDR, which includes various HDR presets to choose from. Moreover, the two 5W speakers might come in handy to watch content without your headset/headphones/earphones on.

Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort 1.4, a 3.5mm audio-out jack and a USB hub with four USB 3.2 Gen1 ports. The included stand offers height adjustment, as well as tilt and swivel capabilities, which should be more than enough for the average consumer. However, there's always VESA 100×100 mount support if you prefer to mount the monitor on a different stand. The new monitor is already available to order at some European stores, with prices around the €500 mark.

Philips is expanding its premium Momentum 5000 line of gaming monitors. The new Momentum F5800 sports a Nano IPS 4K panel with 144Hz refresh rate, making it a perfect fit for a high-end setup. If you need a little more speed from your monitor, then you can also find the momentum F5500P, which sports QHD resolution at 240Hz.

Both the Philips 27M1F5800 and the 27M1F5500P have 27-inch Nano IPS panels, but the resolution differs. The former is the 4K/144Hz model, while the latter is 1440p/240Hz. Both panels have the same rated peak brightness and are DisplayHDR 600 certified, so you can take your visuals up another level in supported games.

Aside from high resolutions and refresh rates, as well as HDR, these new Momentum monitors also support AMD FreeSync Premium, so you can have a tear-free, smooth gaming experience. Both monitors also ship with a SmartErgoBase, with tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment capabilities.

The Philips Momentum 27M15500P and 27M1F5800 will be available starting in June, priced at £529.99 and £629.99 respectively.

Philips has expanded its vast portfolio of gaming monitors with two new high-end products. Both share the same aesthetics, but the spec sheet shows some key differences.

Starting with the 27M1F5800, this gaming monitor uses a 27-inch Nano IPS 4K panel with 144Hz refresh rate, and 1ms G2G response time. Featuring a brightness of 450nits and contrast ratio of 1000:1, the monitor's 10-bit (8-bit +FRC) panel can cover 98% of the DCI-P3 gamut and 100% of the sRGB spectrum. Creators might also be interested in knowing the monitor can cover 84.8% of the NTSC gamut and 93.1% of the Adobe RGB colour space.

Philips's latest 4K monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified and features multiple HDR modes to choose from. There's also a LowBlue mode, flicker-free technology and Adaptive-Sync.

Available connectivity options include 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, 2x DisplayPort 1.4, a 3.5mm audio-out jack, and a USB hub with 4x USB 3.2 ports (2x with fast charge). The included SmartErgoBase is mounted using VESA 100x100mm standard and allows the user to tilt, swivel, pivot and adjust the height.

The other monitor is the 27M1F5500P, which features a 27-inch Nano IPS panel with 1ms G2G of response time. Unlike the 27M1F5800, this panel has QHD resolution and a whopping 240Hz refresh rate. In addition, brightness is set at 450nits and the contrast ratio at 1000:1, allowing the 10-bit panel to cover the same 98% of the DCI-P3 gamut. However, sRGB, NTSC, and Adobe RGB coverages are considerably higher, with 131.9%, 111.6% and 92.9%, respectively.

Like the other Philips monitor, it also supports Adaptive-Sync and is VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified. Moreover, it features a LowBlue mode and flicker-free technology.

The video input and connectivity interfaces are similar to the 27M1F5800, but the HDMI ports are “only” 2.0. As for the stand, it's the same SmartErgoBase included with its 4K counterpart.

Philips has always been widely known in the consumer electronics markets, featuring a broad portfolio of products, including TVs, monitors, headsets, earphones, Hue devices, lamps and various home utilities. However, the company may soon expand into a whole new market – DDR memory.

According to leaked photos on the BoardChannels forum (via Tom's Hardware), Philips may soon start selling DDR4 and DDR5 memory for laptops and desktops. The official announcement is expected to come next week.

In the photos, we see a DDR5-4800 module with 32GB and a mislabelled DDR4-2666 module with 8GB capacity. Seeing the memory specifications, it seems Philips will be sticking to the JEDEC standard speeds and timings for now, but perhaps we'll see overclocked memory later down the line.

Philips is already present in the PC market with a wide variety of monitors, SSDs and some peripherals, so a move into the memory market does indeed make some sense. We should have more information on this before the end of the month.

Over the last couple of years, Philips has been making a good push into the gaming monitor market. We've seen a number of large gaming monitors aimed at living room and console gaming. Now, Philips has two desktop-class displays hitting shelves, a 27-inch 1080p display with 240Hz refresh rate, and a 32-inch 4K/144Hz monitor with HDR.

The new Philips Monitors M5000 series aims to deliver everything you need for an optimal gaming experience. The smaller Philips 27M1N5200PA perfectly suits fast-paced competitive gameplay thanks to its Full HD, 240Hz Fast IPS panel. The response time is also kept to a minimum, measuring in at 0.5ms MPRT, and you get FreeSync Premium to completely eliminate screen tearing and ghosting.

The Philips 32M1N5800A is the high-end option, packing a 32-inch 4K/144Hz panel, HDMI 2.1 connectivity, 1ms (GTG) response time and DisplayHDR 400 certification, allowing for a peak brightness of 400 nits while displaying supported HDR content. At its size and resolution, this monitor also suits productivity tasks well, so Philips has included features like MultiView, allowing multiple sources to be connected in PbP mode. Both monitors also comes with a SmartErgoBase, allowing users to adjust the display and route their cables to reduce desk clutter.

The Philips 27M1N5200PA is already available at the MSRP of £319.99 while the Philips 32M1N5800A will be available later this month with an MSRP of £759.99.

This could be just the thing

The post Philips 288E2UAE 28in 4K Monitor Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Monitors with 4K resolution were premium products just a few years ago. But now you can get high-quality 4K panels for under £300, and the Philips 288E2UAE is a classic example of that. This 28in screen uses a high-quality IPS panel and offers a pin-sharp 3840 x 2160 resolution, but only costs £270. It is not aimed at gamers, but at a business user looking for top quality without breaking the bank. On paper, the features looks promising.

The panel specification is as you would expect for IPS. The typical brightness is 300cd/m2 and contrast 1,000:1. Pixel response time is 4ms Grey to Grey, which has also been the standard value for IPS panels for years, and as this isn't a gaming-focused screen, there are no mechanisms for improving this. The refresh is also limited to 60Hz, so although AMD FreeSync adaptive synchronisation is supported, you won't be able to enjoy the full benefit of high frame rates even if your graphics card can provide them.

However, this isn't what the 288E2UA is aimed at. Instead, it is meant to provide high detail and quality for more serious work applications. So it promises 106.9 per cent NTSC and 119.7 per cent sRGB gamuts. It also offers the requisite DisplayPort and HDMI inputs, plus a four-port USB 3.2 hub with one supporting fast charge. There's an analog audio output for routing sound from a digital video connection to headphones or speakers, although there are stereo 3W speakers built in. In other words, this is a businesslike screen for business users. The question is, does it deliver?

Phillips is adding two new monitors to its Momentum gaming series. The first is the Momentum 275M8RZ QHD monitor for those looking to play at 1440p, while the second display is the Momentum 345M2CRZ, offering an ultra-wide resolution and aspect ratio.

The Philips 275M8RZ features a 27-inch IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, QHD resolution, and 4ms G2G response time. The 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) panel boasts a 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and 130% of the sRGB colour space. Certified with VESA DisplayHDR 400, this monitor comes with 350nits of brightness and a contrast ratio of 1000:1.

This 27-inch monitor supports Nvidia G-sync/Adaptive sync to prevent tearing and features flicker-free technology and LowBlue mode to reduce eye fatigue. For connectivity, the monitor has 2x HDMI 2.0 ports and a DisplayPort 1.2. There's also a 3.5mm jack to connect headphones or speakers. The included stand is rather limited, only allowing users to tilt, but there's support for VESA 100x100mm monitor arms.

As for the Philips 345M2CRZ, the 34-inch curved (1000R) VA panel has a UWQHD resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, and 4ms G2G response time. Unlike the 275M8RZ , this panel is only 8-bit, but it still covers almost 89% of the DCI-P3 gamut and 119% of the sRGB spectrum. Moreover, it features HDR, a contrast ratio of 4000:1, and 300nits of brightness.

Similar to the 275M8RZ, it features Adaptive sync, flicker-free technology and a low blue light mode. Additionally, it also supports PIP/PBP mode, allowing users to have multiple video outputs from different sources. The back of the monitor has 2x HDMI ports, 2x DisplayPorts, and an audio-out 3.5mm jack. The included stand is slightly better than the one from the 275M8RZ, featuring tilt and height adjustment capabilities. Lastly, it also features VESA 100x100mm if the user wishes to change the stand.

Philips has launched the new E2 series of IPS monitors for home and office use. Featuring a 3-side or 4-side frameless design, these monitors are “especially suited for graphic design and professional applications” because of their colour accuracy and image detail.

Ranging from Full HD to 4K resolutions, the E2 series of monitors use Ultra Wide-Color Technology to offer “excellent picture quality”. Other features that further enhance the viewing experience when watching content in the E2 monitors include wide viewing angles, SmartContrast (automatically adjusts the brightness and colours), and SmartImage (automatically regulates the contrast, saturation, and sharpness).

The Philips 242E2FA uses a 23.8-inch IPS panel with FullHD resolution, a 75Hz refresh rate, and a 4ms G2G response time. Contrast ratio sits at 1000:1, while brightness reaches up to 300nits, resulting in a coverage of 97.4% of the NTSC colour gamut and 113.8% of the sRGB colour gamut from this 8-bit panel.

The Philips 272E2FA is very similar to the 242E2FA, offering an IPS panel with the same resolution, refresh rate and response time, but sized at 27-inch. Colour gamut coverage is also very similar, but this monitor has a higher peak brightness of 350nits. Contrast ratio and colour depth are also the same between both monitors. Additionally, this monitor features Adaptive sync for a smoother viewing experience.

The 345E2AE is the only ultrawide monitor of the bunch, with a 34-inch panel featuring a 3440x1440p resolution, a 75Hz refresh rate, and 4ms of G2G response time. The 1000:1 contrast ratio and the 300nits of brightness allow this 8-bit panel to cover 106.8% of the NTSC colour gamut and 120.3% of the sRGB colour gamut.

The 28-inch sized 288E2A features a 4K resolution, 4ms of G2G response time and a 60Hz refresh rate. This is the only monitor using a 10-bit panel, which comes factory-calibrated with a Delta E < 2 (sRGB). With 300 nits of brightness and a 1000:1 contrast ratio, it covers 106.9% of the NTSC colour gamut and 119.7% of the sRGB colour gamut. This monitor is also the only E2 series display featuring SmartUniformity, which calibrates the monitor to ensure an average brightness uniformity ranging from 93% to 105%.

All of these monitors feature 2x 3W speakers and tilting functionality (-5º to 20º). Users can also adjust the height of the 345E2AE by 100mm. The Philips 242E2FA and the 272E2FA come with a VGA port, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, an audio-out jack, and an audio-in jack. The 288E2A and 345E2AE have 2x HDMI ports, a DisplayPort, an audio-out jack, and an audio-in jack.

These monitors also feature basic gaming features such as colour presets for multiple genres of video games, 1ms response time MPRT on the Philips 242E2FA and the 272E2FA monitors, and FreeSync support on both Philips 288E2A and 345E2AE monitors. Flicker-free Technology and LowBlue Mode were also added to ensure the safety of the users' eyes. Additionally, there's the EasyRead mode for a “paper-like reading experience”.

The Philips 288E2A is available now for £259.99. The Philips 242E2FA, 272E2FA, and 345E2AE are expected in mid-September, priced at £124.99, £154.99, and £304.99, respectively. You can learn more about the 242E2FA HERE, the 272E2FA HERE, the 288E2A HERE, and the 345E2AE HERE.
