Square Enix announced its partnership with Sony for Marvel's Avengers at E3 last year, promising exclusive content for PS4 players. It turns out that content might be very significant, as according to a retail listing, the PlayStation version of the game will exclusively have Spider-Man.

The existence of Spider-Man in the upcoming Avengers game has been hinted in a trailer, where we can see a reporter holding a microphone with the Daily Bugle logo. Sadly, Square Enix is still yet to confirm that our friendly neighbourhood hero will be teaming up with the Avengers in the upcoming video game.

On the other hand, there's new evidence that Spider-Man might be in Marvel's Avengers. A now removed retailer listing, spotted by u/FNaF_walrusman on Reddit, says that you can “play as Spider-man exclusively on PS4”.

This aligns with Square Enix's previous statements, where it claimed that it was “partnering with PlayStation” and that it would bring “surprises to PlayStation players” at a later date.

This exclusivity comes as no surprise, given the relationship between Sony and Spider-Man. The company has already released multiple movies and has exclusively published several Spider-Man games, including the upcoming PS5 exclusive ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales'.

Marvel's Avengers is slated for a release on September 4th. There will be a series of closed and open betas on each platform this month.

KitGuru Says: How do you all feel about this? Spider-Man seems like too big of a character to stay exclusive to one platform, but it would seem that he may end up being PlayStation exclusive, at least for a while.

Sony has begun opening up to the idea of bringing its exclusive games to PC, starting off with Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn this year. Another game may be due to join the ranks soon though, with recent changes to the PlayStation website suggesting that perhaps God of War will also arrive on PC.

Originally reported by Dualshockers, the PlayStation website listing for God of War has recently removed the ‘Only On PlayStation' tagline. This also happened to Horizon Zero Dawn prior to its announcement for PC.

Sony has previously stated that it does not intend to bring all exclusives to PC, nor does it plan on ‘day and date' releases across console and PC. Instead, Sony appears to be testing the waters with a few key exclusives in hopes of tempting PC-only players into getting a console to avoid missing out on future releases. However, if the console + PC release model works out as well as it has been for Microsoft, then that could very well change.

Back in October 2019, Cory Barlog, director behind God of War, said that he would “love” to see the game land on PC. This came in response to a fan question after Death Stranding was announced for PC. At the time, Barlog said that such a decision would be “far above my paygrade”.

KitGuru Says: Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War are two of the best console exclusives I've played this generation, so I would love to revisit them both on PC with a higher frame rate. Would you like to see God of War come to PC?

Although developer Quantic Dream is known for narrative-heavy PlayStation exclusives Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and most recently Detroit: Become Human, the studio did cut its teeth with multi-platform games. After a number of controversies and a lengthy partnership with Sony, it seems as though Quantic is heading back to its roots with promises of being “present on all platforms.”

Quantic Dream hit headlines ahead of Detroit: Become Human’s launch last year, with French journalists exposing poor working conditions behind the scenes. The studio fired back by labelling the reports as a “smear campaign,” making a controversial move in its choice to sue the group. Nothing seemed to materialise from the filing, but Quantic Dream did receive a number of lawsuits from former workers who had resigned due to the aforementioned work conditions.

But New Year, new studio according to bosses David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière, who have revealed to Variety that Quantic Dream is dropping PlayStation exclusivity for a fresh start. This is made possible thanks to a close partnership with NetEase, which has been expanding its roster of games in the West following a lengthy video game freeze in its home country of China.

“Our objective is to be present on all platforms where there is an audience that can enjoy our experiences. We will, of course, continue developing on PlayStation, a platform that we know very well after having worked with Sony for 12 years, but we will also be present on all other relevant platforms,” explained de Fondaumière.

“There will be no changes with the governance of the company, as the objective of NetEase is to engage in a meaningful partnership with us,” he continued, adding that the investment will go towards the studio’s “vision of becoming a global, multi-franchise entertainment company, and to develop advanced technologies and games for the future.”

NetEase is aware of the allegations and on-going lawsuits against Quantic Dream, stating that it particularly considers “studio culture” when analysing the company behind the deal. “This is very important for us, as we take great care of these matters in our own company,” says executive Simon Zhu. “We have been able to spend time with the Quantic Dream team, to get to know the studio culture, and we have seen nothing that points to any of the allegations published by certain press.”

KitGuru Says: We have no idea what game is next for the narrative experts, or whether it will follow the same trend of player-choice. As for the allegations, I personally hope the studio makes an effort to improve working conditions regardless in an industry still ridden with developer crunch and sudden shutdowns.

Sony's next installment in the God of War series has been teased since 2014, confirming its departure from Greek mythology into Norse. Fans have been waiting to know the release date aside from the “early 2018” window given to them at last year's E3 and now we have it, as the title is set to hit PlayStation 4 on April 20th.

2018's God of War features a fully bearded Kratos alongside his son as they travel into the world of Norse mythology for the first time in this soft reboot. The changes coming to the series aren't limited to its setting and characterisation, however, as the mechanics are set to get an overhaul.

What was once a fixed camera will now take a third-person, over-the-shoulder camera style giving players the freedom to change what they're facing. Interestingly, the game will also be directed with no camera cuts. That's to say that while it will feature cinematic cutscenes, director Corey Barlog has revealed that Quick Time Events are gone and the story-based cutscenes that remain will feature panning and dollying of the camera instead of a straight cut.

The latest trailer for the title confirms that mythologies coexist, offering a narrative solution for why Kratos has to ditch Greek for Norse. This has previously been confirmed by Barlog, who says that it is simply “separated by geography,” and while Kratos will clash with the Viking gods, the game is set at a time that predates them entirely.

KitGuru Says: It is interesting to see the conflict within Kratos as he has aged and now taken on the responsibility of being a parent. His maturity hasn't quite fully settled and his son might be even more bloodthirsty than he was in his youth. Are you looking forward to the next God of War?

Hideo Kojima has officially announced that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes will both come to the PC platform via Steam. The announcement was made at the MGS livestream at Gamescom last night.

Metal Gear Solid enjoyed a long and successful life as a Playstation exclusive but the series is finally branching out to other platforms. There is no release date announced just yet but we will probably see the four hour long Ground Zeroes release first. PC gamers will get a cool in-game item though, a Steam branded box for Snake to sneak around in.

MGS V ON STEAM

Now we just have to hope that Konami delivers a solid PC port. So far, the game's PS4 version has been hyped up to be the best looking, however, the dev team behind the port would be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't take advantage of the extra power of the PC platform.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release during the first quarter of 2015 for the Xbox One and Playstation 4, as well as the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Ground Zeros is already out so it's possible that we will see that hit Steam fairly soon while MGS V will take much longer.

KitGuru Says: I didn't own a Playstation when I was younger so I've missed out on the Metal Gear series completely. However, i'm glad that I will finally be able to check it out when Metal Gear Solid V comes to Steam. Are you guys excited for Metal Gear on the PC?
