AOC's latest high-end displays, the Porsche Design Agon Pro PD49 and the 34U3, have been revealed after winning Red Dot Design Awards in the gaming monitor and monitor categories, respectively. The PD49 is a curved 49-inch display for gamers, while the 34U3 is a flat monitor likely aimed at content creators and productivity.

The design of the PD49 is heavily influenced by the Porsche 911, with a ridged shape inspired by the car's unique front grill. Little information is known about the display, but it reportedly has a 240Hz refresh rate, a protruding 5MP webcam, and 8W stereo audio with DTS. It may also have an 1800R curvature and 5120×1440 resolution. The panel itself is an OLED one, according to an NRAA certification spotted by Tom's Hardware.

Based on previous AOC and Porsche partnerships, we can expect exceptional build quality and a high-grade screen from the PD49. The AOC 34U3 is a 34-inch mini LED display with a height and swivel adjustment stand and is likely meant for professional usage. Less information is available about this product, but based on the pictures, its minimalistic design and size will undoubtedly appeal to some users.

More information about both displays will be shared at CES 2024, running from January 9th to 12th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Back in 2020, AOC and Porsche Design extended their partnership beyond office monitors and into high-end gaming displays. This week, the pair revealed their latest creation – the Porsche Design AOC Agon Pro PD27S, which packs 1440p at up to 170Hz, 1ms response time and HDR in a stylish package.

The exclusive design of the PD27S is coupled with a high-grade IPS panel, with 10-bit colour and coverage of 95% of the DCI-P3 and 99% of the sRGB colour gamuts. The monitor is also DisplayHDR 400 certified, so you can watch HDR content, or turn on HDR in supported games. The panel has a 165Hz native refresh rate, but you can overclock it to 170Hz.

Like the previously released PD32M, the new PD27S has a functional design, with a sandblasted aluminium cast stand to keep the display sturdy, while also offering height, swivel and tilt adjustments. On the back of the monitor you'll find RGB lighting, which you can customise to add some ambience to your gaming setup, or you can switch it off if preferred.

The PD27S is not only a gaming monitor, but a high-end all-rounder. Equipped with a 4-port USB 3.2 hub, external devices such as keyboards, mice or external drives can be connected quickly and easily, reducing cable clutter and giving every desk a clean and functional layout. If you don't have your own speakers, or headphones, then you'll be able to rely on the monitor's dual 5W speakers with DTS audio.

The Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD27S is available now, priced at £440.

AOC and Porsche Design have already launched some monitors together, mainly focusing on elegant office and professional monitor designs. This time around, the pair tackled the gaming monitor, creating the Agon Pro PD32M, featuring a top-spec mini-LED display.

With a 32-inch mini-LED display with 4K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, the new Agon Pro PD32M looks to be quite capable for various tasks. The brightness peaks at 1600nits, enough to award the monitor with the DisplayHDR 1400 certification. Moreover, the panel can cover 97% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Like most modern gaming displays, Adaptive Sync is present here as well.

If you don't have a set of speakers, you may use the 2x built-in 8W speakers (DTS certified). Additionally, it comes with a remote control to configure the monitor more conveniently. Connectivity-wise, there are 2x HDMI 2.1, a DisplayPort, a USB-C port, 4x USB 3.2 interfaces, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Each side of the monitor has a headset rest to hang your headphones, and on the back, you can find three RGB LED sections (LightFX). In addition, the included stand delivers tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment capabilities.

The Porsche Design | AOC Agon Pro PD32M display is now available to pre-order for $1,799 on Porsche Design's official website. The shipping date is set for June 15th.

The post AOC partners with Porsche Design to create new gaming monitors first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
AOC and Porsche Design have partnered up using both the sophistication and functionality of Porsche Design and AOC's display technology to create new high-performance gaming monitors with sleek aesthetics.

Porsche Design has been known for creating exceptional designs for unique lifestyle products. The company's design core idea is to “optimise form and function by discovering new and innovative solutions”. On the other hand, we have AOC, a subsidiary of the world's largest LCD monitor manufacturer, which focus on delivering high-performance gaming monitors through its AOC Gaming and AGON product lines.

With this partnership, both companies will have the chance to apply their strongest points to create new gaming monitors, with the first one coming in autumn 2020. The gaming monitor market (+144Hz) had a 76% YoY at the end of 2019. Given this increase in popularity, Porsche Design will be able to provide “exclusive lifestyle-brand access” to more gamers. Using their experience in motorsports, monitors will be perfect for the company's transition from sports to esports.

Jan Becker, CEO of Porsche Design, stated the company already has an “exclusive range of consumer electronic products” and with the growth of the gaming market, gaming monitors were the best fit into Porsche Design's product lineup.

Nico Vernieuwe, SVP branded business at TPV Technology (AOC parent company), claimed that Porsche Design “heritage goes perfectly with AOC's state-of-the-art display technology”, allowing both companies to provide gamers with a unique gaming experience through stylish and high-performance monitors.

The Porsche brand is synonymous with performance, but also with a certain flavour of functional, reliable, no-nonsense design. This ethos has been exported beyond the automotive industry via the Studio F. A. Porsche subsidiary to everything from watches, phones, pianos, and even handbags. Latest to benefit from the particular Studio F. A. Porsche treatment is AOC, with a new range of screens recently launched in Leipzig. First to arrive on our test bench, in a world exclusive appearance, is the 24in PDS241.

As we reported in our news piece, AOC is aiming to “revolutionise the traditional approach to monitor design”, and the PDS241 certainly lives up to that billing from the aesthetic point of view. It is gorgeous in the same way that Porsche cars are – not flamboyant like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, but emanating a quiet sense of competence.

Inside, however, the PDS241 is a fairly standard, if high quality, screen. The 24in billing is actually 23.8in diagonal, with the 1,920 x 1,080 Full HD resolution that is normal for this screen size. The panel uses AH-IPS technology, so should exhibit top-notch colour fidelity, and boasts 178-degree viewing angles. The 250cd/m2 brightness rating and 1,000:1 contrast are on par for IPS technology, as is the 4ms grey-to-grey pixel response time. The maximum refresh is just 60Hz, which is nothing to worry about but way behind the 240Hz that is the pinnacle of gaming prowess.

There is also only a single HDMI input, no built-in USB hub, and just a headphone output. So this screen is focused on its physical design rather than features. UK pricing is expected to be around £200, which may be a bit much for a 24in screen in general, but isn't not so bad for an IPS one, and definitely not the kind of premium you might expect from a Studio F. A. Porsche design. The Blackberry smartphone sporting this pedigree was about three times the price of the model it was based on. So let's find out if the AOC PDS241 lives up to its Nurburgring-busting brand association.

Specification:
Screen size: 23.8-inch, 16:9 aspect
Native resolution: 1,920 x 1,080
Refresh rate: 60Hz
Panel type: AH-IPS
Contrast ratio: 1,000:1
Brightness: 250cd/m2
Response time: 4ms grey-to-grey
Display inputs: HDMI
USB hub: No
Tilt: Yes
Raise: No
Swivel: No
Other: Headphone minijack.

Retail Price: £200 (inc. VAT)
