Technology products are strange. Viewed in their plain cardboard boxes, piled high on pallets in a factory, they emit almost no appeal at all. Open the external packaging and the consumer box will normally emit a little ‘wink' of attraction. Once you get hands on, out of the box, you can't help but touch, feel and connect. Essentially, the closer you get – the more you want it. be quiet! has been looking at ideas to take this to a new level. KitGuru books a cheap motel room, puts ‘Do not disturb' on the knob and checks for free Wi-Fi.

Working on a purely visual level, be quiet!'s latest video is lush.

Add in the soundtrack and you have to say this is about as sensual as a PSU advert can get.

be quiet! touches all of the zones that an enthusiast will be sensitive about.

We're not gonna introduce spoilers for the climax, but – needless to say – it would be hard to make a PSU look more attractive in just 1 minute 40 seconds.

To keep you watching to the end, be quiet! wants you to post a comment on YouTube to let them know what your favourite bit is – and that gives you a chance to win a prize!

We love new stuff. For a major technology publisher like KitGuru, innovation is our meat, potatoes and chocolate ice cream dessert. We love it and can't get enough!  That's why we love companies like BeQuiet that make the effort to put new gear in front of gamers at events like Multiplay i49. What starts out as a quick look at a PSU, ends up with a potentially much more interesting glimpse of a new kind of fan. Watt else could we do, but pull out the DSLR and capture the powerful moment.

Every component manufacturer is facing the same challenge: How to cater to an audience which is highly focused on value, while at the same time avoiding brand dilution?

As KitGuru readers well know, BeQuiet is one of the world's premium PSU brands – with a handy line in CPU and Chassis coolers.

From the time they first launched into the UK, BeQuiet has been able to command serious money for its high end products, and that has not changed.

But what can you do if you want BeQuiet's design and manufacturing quality, with sizeable wattage, but you don't have Dark Power Pro 850w money?

Enter the PowerZone line – as presented to the UK masses for the first time by Dan Reeves at Multiplay i49.

.

While the PSUs themselves seem ruggedly well built, we actually found ourselves focused on one small detail: The fan.

Without using a screwdriver and mass spectrometer, we can't be 100% sure, but it does appear – at first glance – to be an evolutionary step forward on the Silent Wings 2 products that presently grace the BeQuiet line up.

Would that step forward be a BeQuiet Silent Wings 3 fan?

While the price might be a lot lower than a Dark Power Pro, the styling and packaging remain very attractive on the Power Zone

It was as Dan pointed to the 'Fan' header than we realised the internal fan is not something we've seen before

KitGuru says:  Well played to BeQuiet for bringing affordable big PSUs to town, these are likely to generate a lot of interest. It will be interesting to see if BeQuiet confirms the existence of a brand new Silent Wings 3 design at the heart of the Power Zone PSUs. Dan wouldn't say a thing on the day, but we has our suspicions.

While the cool and quiet options from BeQuiet have grabbed a lot of headlines in recent times, the company still has the ability to create some very powerful, high-end PSUs.
Here's a quick look at something called PowerZone.

PowerZone from Be Quiet is pitched to be the ultimate rugged PSU.

.
KitGuru managed to get 1-on-1 with BeQuiet's public relations guru, Aaron Licht. Aaron gave us an in-depth understanding of the effort involved in acquiring the exact rugged look which they believe appeals to their customers.

Gorgeous, subtle and rugged... and the BeQuiet PowerZone isn't bad either

According to Aaron, “The PowerZone PSU is 80 Bronze certified, bringing a balanced price point vs performance option”. In these tough economic times, we can understand why value is important.

So where does the chill-factor come from?

“The fan is a 135mm SilentWing fan”, said Aaron. “So it manages to cools effectively from just one side”.

Let's get back to the cables, what makes this PSU special?

Aaron told us, “It is the first FULLY modular PSU from Be Quiet and gives case modders and PC builders precise cable options for the internal aspects of the PC building environment”.

What else?

“Interestingly, there are ports for three case fans which can run from the PSU itself and – in addition – the 3 minute cool down setting is back by popular demand”, said Aaron.

So, now for the key questions: What will the models be, when can we get them and how much will they charge?

“There will be several different models to choose from, including the 650W, 850W and 1000W versions”, said Aaron. “The regional street price is expected to be below 100 Euro when it launches in August 2013”.

KitGuru says: We much appreciate Aaron taking the time to explain the BeQuiet move toward a completely cable free PowerZone.
