Razer always brings a lot of interesting new gear to CES, often including prototype products that don't always see a consumer release. For CES 2020, Razer brought four key products to show- a mobile game controller paving the way for cloud gaming, a new wireless router, Razer's very first desktop gaming PC and a full racing simulator.

With the industry set to make another big push for cloud gaming in 2020, Razer is preparing with another smartphone-oriented game controller. The first attempt arrived back in October, known as the ‘Razer Junglecat', taking inspiration from the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons. Now, we have the Razer Kishi, which are universal mobile game controllers designed for both Android and iOS devices either through a USB-C or Lightning port connection.

The Razer Kishi controllers are described as ‘cloud compatible' and feature clickable analog sticks and your traditional bumpers, triggers and ABXY buttons. The Kishi for Android already offers support for most games that have mobile controller support, while the Kishi for iOS is supported by all games that list MFi controller support. Both versions are due to launch in ‘early 2020'.

With 2020 set to be the year of 5G, Razer is showing off the Sila 5G Home Router concept. The router features Razer's proprietary FasTrack engine, which optimises network traffic to provide low latency gaming or streaming. It also has the capability of being a mobile 5G hotspot, offering an option for high-speed, low latency connectivity on the go.

The Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop is Razer's first desktop gaming PC. After years of primarily focusing on gaming laptops, this is Razer's first big machine, built around the ultra-compact Razer Tomahawk N1 chassis.

Inside, you will find an Intel NUC 9 Extreme Compute Element and a vertically mounted GPU, which is clearly visible behind a sleek tempered glass window. Razer plans to offer up to Intel 9th Gen Core i9 8-core CPUs and RTX 20 series graphics with this system. Currently, availability is scheduled for the first half of 2020, so we should learn more in the coming months.

The final big showcase for Razer this year is the Eracing Simulator concept. For this, Razer brought together some of the leading companies in sim racing to create the most immersive experience possible. The concept is being demoed at CES this week running Project Cards, and combines a chair, wheel, pedals and two projectors + screens for a 202 degree field of view.

The racing harness simulates G-force by applying pressure, allowing players to feel the acceleration. Currently, Razer plans to continue developing the eracing simulator, seeking out the best hardware and software to make it a reality.

KitGuru says: Lots of interesting stuff on show from Razer this year. Seeing a Razer desktop rather than a new Blade stands out in particular, alongside Razer's usual impressive product concepts. What do you all think of Razer's CES showcase this year?

Over the years, hardware makers have been trying to come up with new ways to make gaming more immersive. Emerging technologies like Virtual Reality show promise, but for racing game fans, nothing quite beats a full racing simulator setup. The folks at PCSpecialist have teamed up with Milltek to produce a brand new racing simulator, which will be available in the UK.

This partnership is a result of PCSpecialist's ongoing cooperation with PowerMaxed Racing. Milltek is well-known in the motorsport scene, and with some help from their technical experts, PCSpecialist has developed a professional grade simulator frame, all designed, developed and hand-finished here in the UK. There will be two options for potential buyers, one for a single-monitor setup and another to support multi-monitors.

The frame itself is from Milltek, while the seat comes from Cobra Motorsport. The pedals, gear shifter and wheel all come from Fanatec.

The PC itself is fully configurable, the standard system comes with a Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and integrated graphics. However, buyers can upgrade up to a Core i7-8700K, up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM and up to a GTX 1080Ti or Radeon Vega 64.

Pricing starts at £3,288 for the single-monitor frame racing sim, and jumps to £3,465 for the multi-monitor frame. Upgraded seats, peripherals and PC hardware will all be available and will have an impact on the final price. You can see PCSpecialist's full racing sim configurator, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I've only had the chance to try out a fully kitted racing simulator a couple of times, but it was a really cool experience. Are any of you big fans of racing sims? Are you thinking about getting one of your own?

If you happen to be a fan of racing simulators, then you have probably been looking forward to Project Cars for a while. The game is finally coming out next month, so Slightly Mad Studios has announced the PC system requirements, along with the resolution and frame rates of the console versions of the game.

For PC gamers, the minimum requirements include an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400/ AMD Phenom II X4 940 CPU, an Nvidia GTX 260 or Radeon HD 5770 graphics card and 4GB of RAM. Recommended specifications call for an Intel Core i7 3770/ AMD FX-8350 CPU, an Nvidia GTX 600 series or an AMD Radeon HD 700 series GPU and 8GB of RAM.

Project-Cars-7-600x337

The game will support extremely high resolutions and frame rates will depend on your specific set up and graphics settings, as always.

If you are looking to get this game on a console then it shouldn't surprise you that the PlayStation 4 will run the game better than other offerings on the market. The PS4 will run Project Cars at 1080p and 60 frames per second, while the Xbox One sits at 900p but also hitting the 60 frames per second sweet spot.

There is no Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version planned but the game is heading to the Wii U at some point.

Slightly Mad Studio's upcoming racing simulator, Project Cars, won't be releasing this month after all, the game has been officially delayed until the end of March 2015 in an effort to avoid heavy competition this holiday season. Considering that the new IP would have been pitted against Dragon Age, Far Cry 4, The Crew, and the next generation version of Grand Theft Auto V, a delay was probably a smart move.

Publisher, Bandai Namco officially confirmed the new release date in a press release, stating that “The move positions the title away from the competitive holiday scene dominated by household names while affording the team at Slightly Mad Studios additional time to extend and polish their ground-breaking and accomplished next-gen racing experience.”

Project-CARS-4

“Whilst a tough decision to make, the change in release date allows the game the greatest chance of success and visibility, and the opportunity to polish the game even further to the high standards that both ourselves and our community demand and expect. We’re eager for you all to see what we’ve been working on in just a few months.”

Project Cars will now release on the 20th of March 2015, far away from the stiff holiday competition.

KitGuru Says: The best thing you can do is be honest when it comes to delaying a game. The fact that Project Cars wants to avoid the stiff holiday competition is understandable, the new release date should give it more time in the spotlight, without being overshadowed by other games. Are any of you guys racing fans? Were you looking forward to Project Cars?

GRID Autosport will be the next installment in the racing series, Developer, Codemasters, revealed today. The game will be coming to the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, leaving out Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony's new consoles.

Codemasters said on its blog that GRID Autosport is an attempt to fix the things that went wrong with GRID 2 and release a better game:

“While we were patching GRID 2 and releasing new content, we were busy gathering feedback. We devoured the comment threads under articles about GRID 2 on gaming websites, took stock of our reviews, and of course, digested all the comments on our social channels and forums where we received direct feedback. It’s this feedback that helped create GRID Autosport.”

The Developer then goes on to explain that the new title will play more like a racing simulator with less narrative and better controls to ensure a more authentic driving experience:

“If GRID 2 raced off into a more narrative-led world of racing with more accessible controls, it’s clear that for many of you, that wasn’t what you wanted or expected from GRID 2. So with GRID Autosport we had the opportunity to make a much more focused motorsport game, a desire that many of you have expressed directly to us, and a game that in spirit goes back to some of our earlier titles in terms of content and handling.”
