With the Radeon RX 6800 XT now out in the wild, professional overclockers are racing to set some new world records. We already saw a 3DMark Firestrike record broke last week, but just a few days later, a new world record has been set for the highest 3DMark Firestrike overall score.

The run from Takukou involved a system powered by an overclocked AMD Ryzen 9 5950X running at 5.6GHz using liquid nitrogen paired with 32GB of G.Skill 3800-DDR4 TridentZ Royal modules with 14-14-14-28 timings. The graphics card was a liquid nitrogen-overclocked AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT with the GPU running at 2800MHz.

The new world record set by Takukou is 49456 marks, with a graphics score of 62184 points. Compared to the previous word record, both runs have a difference of 1524 marks in the overall score. Unlike “LUCKY_NOOB”, we don't know if Takukou has modified tessellation in 3DMark Firestrike, but he mentioned that no “power modding” was made to achieve this score.

Given how fast these records are being broken, and the fact that we still have AiB cards on the way, we could end up seeing someone breach a 50K score on Firestrike before the end of 2020.

AMD has just launched the Radeon RX 6800 XT and it's already breaking world records. The widely known extreme overclocker Alva Jonathan aka “LUCKY_NOOB” has set a new world record for the 3DMark Firestrike using a reference design Radeon RX 6800 XT.

One important thing to mention in this result is that tessellation was disabled by Alva on 3DMark Firestrike so the card could reach a higher score. The HWBot ranking allows the tessellation to be disabled, but 3DMark Hall of Fame does not, meaning that the score won't appear on it.

The new world record to beat for 3DMark Firestrike on HWBot is 47932 marks. The system used by “LUCKY_NOOB” was using a 1200W Corsair PSU, G.Skill DDR4 RAM, an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPU overclocked to 5.423GHz using liquid nitrogen, and a Radeon RX 6800 XT overclocked to 2650MHz (boost setting applied in Performance Tuning panel) using the reference cooler.

Considering that AMD still has a graphics card more powerful than the RX 6800 XT, we could see this record broken by the RX 6900 XT once it launches next month.

The previous record was held by safedisk, using an ROG Strix RTX 3090 OC graphics cards, which scored 47725 marks, about 207 marks less than the current record holder.

KitGuru says: It is always impressive to see what the professional overclockers can do with new hardware. Are any of you planning on picking up an RX 6800 XT? Wil you be overclocking yours once it arrives?

MSI has unveiled 4 new graphics cards belonging to its Gaming series. The upcoming MSI Radeon RX 6800 and 6800XT Gaming Trio cards and the MSI Radeon RX 6800 and 6800XT Gaming X Trio are very similar, with out-of-the-box clock speeds being the key difference.

Although the new MSI Radeon RX 6800 series cards feature a similar design to the MSI RTX 30 series Gaming models, the metallic parts of the Radeon cards' shroud come in silver, instead of dark grey. The new cards have a similar RGB lighting system, including LEDs on the front, side and backplate.

The Tri Frozr 2 cooling system uses Torx 4.0 fans for improved airflow that don't spin when the card is idle, machined Core Pipes to increase contact with the GPU, and a “silencing heatsink design” that controls the airflow orientation. Additionally, MSI added thermal pads throughout the PCB to improve heat dissipation and a graphene backplate for additional passive cooling and extra sturdiness.

The MSI Radeon RX 6800 series cards feature 16GB of memory at stock clocks (16Gbps). Both Gaming Trio cards come with reference core clocks, but the Gaming X Trio models come factory-overclocked, boosting up to 2155MHz in the case of the RX 6800, and 2285MHz when referring to the RX 6800XT.

The four cards feature a 2.5-slot design and are each powered by 2x 8-pin power connectors. Regarding display outputs, all cards come with 3x DisplayPorts 1.4, and an HDMI 2.0b port. Additionally, MSI has bundled a support bracket with each card to prevent sagging.

You can learn more about the Radeon RX 6800 Gaming Trio 16G HERE, the Radeon RX 6800 Gaming X Trio 16G HERE, the Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming Trio 16G HERE, and the Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio 16G HERE.

Sapphire has unveiled its upcoming Radeon RX 6800 and 6800XT custom graphics cards. The Sapphire RX 6800 series cards consist of two Pulse cards, an RX 6800 and an RX 6800XT, and three Nitro+ cards – an RX 6800, an RX 6800XT, and a special edition RX 6800XT.

All of these cards have a 2.7-inch slot design, triple-fan configurations, and 2x 8-pin power connectors. Recommended PSU wattage is 850W for the Nitro+ RX 6800XT cards, 750W for the Pulse RX 6800XT and Nitro+ RX 6800, and 650W for the Pulse RX 6800.

The Sapphire RX 6800XT Nitro+ Special Edition model features ARGB lighting on the fans (exclusive to the Special Edition), on the card itself and on the backplate. The black and grey shroud houses three fans, with the right and left fans being bigger than the middle fan, which rotates anti-clockwise to reduce turbulence. Available video outputs include an HDMI port, 2x DisplayPorts, and a USB-C port.

Just like the Nitro+ Special Edition card, the standard Nitro+ cards (RX 6800 and RX 6800XT) features the same shroud, fans (without ARGB lighting), backplate and built-in ARGB. Besides the existing HDMI port and the 2x DisplayPorts, the USB-C port found on the Special Edition card was replaced by another DisplayPort, totalling at three DisplayPorts.

Regarding the Pulse RX 6800 and RX 6800XT cards, it will feature an all-black shroud with red lines and a matching backplate. This card comes with three similarly sized fans, with the middle fan rotating anti-clockwise. Video outputs are the same as the standard Nitro+ cards, featuring 3x DisplayPorts and an HDMI port.

KitGuru says: Pricing and availability details aren't here yet, but so far, Sapphire seems to have a good line-up prepared. Are you hoping to get a Radeon RX 6800 or 6800XT at launch?

As the release of the Radeon RX 6000 series approaches, AIB partners have started to announce their graphics cards. Until now, most of the models shown are using AMD's reference cooler, but companies like Sapphire have shown that they are also working on their own cooling solutions.

A new teaser posted by Sapphire on Twitter gives us the first glimpse of their upcoming Radeon RX 6000XT Nitro+ graphics card. Although the tease clearly implies this is Radeon RX 6800XT, the Sapphire Radeon RX 6800 Nitro+ card should also have a similar look. Regarding the RX 6900XT, we are still unsure if AMD will allow AIB partners to develop cooling solutions, but if it does, it should also look fairly similar.

By the image teased at the post, the new Sapphire Radeon RX 6800XT Nitro+ will feature an all-black cooler with a triple fan design. The middle fan seems a bit smaller, and it looks that it will rotate anti-clockwise. We expect that this card will come factory overclocked like the previous Nitro+ cards.

The AMD Radeon RX 6800XT will feature 4608 stream processors, with 72 Ray accelerators, 288 Texture Units, and 128 ROPs, paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 16Gbps. Additionally, it will feature 128MB of Infinity Cache, boosting the memory bandwidth on the 256-bit bus to 512GB/s.

We expect that this card will be available later this month, after AMD releases the Radeon RX 6000 series on November 18th.

Following the leak of the RTX 3070 3DMark results, multiple sources got hold of the 3DMark scores of the Radeon RX 6800 XT. Ranging from Fire Strike benchmarks to Time Spy, the Radeon RX 6800 XT beats the RTX 3080 in 3 out of 6 benchmarks, offering fairly similar performance in two, and losing in the ray-tracing-centric Port Royal.

The 3DMark scores of the Radeon RX 6800 XT come from Igor'sLab, Wccftech, and @KittyYYuko (aka Kitty Corgi). There is not much difference in the scores across all three sources, leading us to believe that they shouldn't be far from the final results.

Starting with Igor's results, he claimed that this data comes from two board partners that use both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, like MSI, Gigabyte, and Asus. Wccftech's leak had a similar structure to Igor's, including both percental and score differences. Yuko Yoshida claimed that the scores he shared were of an engineering sample of a Navi 21XT-based card, which features 80 CUs, and not 72 like previously leaks suggested.

The following table puts all the scores from the different sources together for better visualisation and compares it with the RTX 3080 (values from the sources and @harukaze5719). Both 1440p benchmarks may not be a fair comparison because we don't know the CPU configuration of the system running the Radeon RX 6800 XT. We assume that the rest of the benchmarks were running on equivalent systems for comparison purposes.

Benchmark Igor’sLAB Wccftech Yuko Yoshida RTX 3080 Average vs RTX 3080
Fire Strike Extreme (1440p) N/D N/D 24200 19404 124%
Fire Strike Extreme 4K 13066 N/D N/D 10688 122%
Fire Strike Ultra 4K N/D 12871 12800 10531 122%
Time Spy (1440p) N/D N/D 16700 16939 98%
Time Spy Extreme 4K 8232 8230 8000 7978 102%
Port Royal 4K 4438 4387 N/D 5383 82%

These results seem quite promising for the red team, with Radeon RX 6800 XT only losing to the RTX 3080 in Port Royal, which is a ray-tracing benchmark. On Time Spy scores are fairly similar, but when moving on to Fire Strike benchmarks, there's an improvement of over 20% compared to the RTX 3080. As per @harukaze5719's chart, it even beats the RTX 3090 on Fire Strike Extreme at 1440p.

AMD will officially announce its upcoming graphics cards on October 28th.
