With the refreshed AMD Radeon RX 6×50 XT cards expected to be announced next week, more rumours about their specifications are starting to appear. Besides the faster memory, the new cards may also come with higher GPU clocks, possibly bringing a more significant performance bump than initially expected.

According to Wccftech, the Radeon RX 6950 XT will come with a 2100 MHz game clock and 2310 MHz boost clock, an increase of 85MHz and 60MHz over the reference clock values of the RX 6900 XT. Moreover, the RX 6750 XT will come with a small clock bump, bringing speeds up to 2495 MHz and 2600 MHz. Lastly, the Radeon RX 6650 XT comes with 2410 MHz and 2635 MHz game and boost clocks, up from the 2359 MHz and 2589 MHz clock speeds of the RX 6600 XT.

The latest rumours also give us more information about power draw for the newly refreshed GPUs. The Radeon RX 6950 XT will come with a 335W TBP, while the Radeon RX 6750XT and the Radeon RX6650XT will feature a 250W and 180W TBP, respectively.

Every rumour and report out there point to a May 10th launch for the Radeon RX 6×50 XT cards, but AMD has not yet made any official announcements. We should find out next week if there is any truth to the rumours.

KitGuru says: Assuming these refreshed GPUs carry the same MSRP as the original models, then you theoretically should be getting more performance at no extra cost, which is usually a win. However, the GPU market is still inflated at the moment, so whether or not these cards will be available at close to MSRP still remains to be seen. Even if launch prices aren't ideal, analysts have been tracking steady price decreases all year, so there is hope that the market will return to normal before the end of this year.

New rumours suggest the new Ryzen CPUs and Radeon RX 6×50 XT GPUs may come simultaneously. However, it may be a bit later than you think, as both reports point to April 20th. In addition, it seems we'll see the first Intel Arc Alchemist desktop GPUs shortly after, between May and early June.

Starting with the Radeon RX 6×50 XT rumours, the refreshed series should be slightly more expensive than the current one, according to a prominent Chiphell leaker (via Greymon55). The new graphics cards are expected to feature 18Gbps GDDR6 memory and should come out on April 20/21. Moreover, the low-end Radeon RX 6400 should also release to the DIY market at the same time as the refreshed SKUs.

Moving on to the new Ryzen processors, the new table shared by VideoCardz shows some differences from our early report. Besides detailing the base and boost frequencies, as well as the cache, TDP and MSRP, the table shows the Ryzen 5 5500 should also feature SMT, meaning it will feature 12x threads.

Another thing that caught our attention is the difference in total cache between the new Ryzen 5 5000 chips. This could be because the Ryzen 5 5600 is based on Vermeer, while the Ryzen 5 5500 uses Cezanne silicon. Additionally, the table lists 3x new Ryzen 4000 series APUs: the Ryzen 5 4600G, the Ryzen 5 4500 and the Ryzen 3 4100.

Out of all these chips, only the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is expected to come out on April 20th. As for the remaining Ryzen chips, they're believed to also release in April, but availability will vary by region.

Lastly, the first Intel Arc Alchemist GPUs using SKUs 1, 2, and 3 have been delayed and should release between May 2nd and June 1st, according to Igor'sLAB. The reason for the delay is unclear, but the report claims it could be related to Intel wanting to optimise the drivers further. Still, the tape-out of the qualification samples should happen within the next couple of weeks.

We've been hearing a lot about a Radeon RX 6000 series refresh recently. Initially, it was thought that there would be four SKUs, with the Radeon RX 6950 XT coming first. However, it looks like that number has been reduced, with a potential RX 6850 XT getting cut.

Many leakers are now claiming that we won't get a Radeon RX 6850 XT, with the latest one being Moore's Law Is Dead. In addition, he also stated that the Radeon RX 6950 XT is on track to launch relatively soon, with the other two, the RX 6750 XT and RX 6650 XT, planned for a Q2 release.

If the Radeon RX 6×50 XT line-up ends with just these SKUs, we would have a Navi 21-based card, one using the Navi 22 GPU and the last one using the Navi 23 die. The Navi 24-based card would be the Radeon RX 6500 XT, which already features 18Gbps memory and is based on TSMC's 6nm process node.

For now, we're still not sure if AMD will be using the same 7nm node or the newer 6nm node from TSMC to build the allegedly upcoming graphics cards. Not using the latter would make this refresh underwhelming, but we're also due to see RDNA 3 graphics before the end of this year, so perhaps an older node would make sense.

KitGuru says: Would it be worth it for AMD to refresh the RX 6000 series even if it just upgraded to faster memory? If AMD indeed launches the refreshed series with 18Gbps memory modules, how much extra performance will these cards offer over the original models?

Not long ago, a prominent AMD leaker claimed that a Radeon RX 6x50XT refresh would be coming this Summer. However, according to a new report from a different source, it seems we may see the first refreshed GPU as early as April, starting with the RX 6950XT.

According to Coreteks, AMD will release the Radeon RX 6950XT as soon as mid-April. Additionally, it is also claimed that this will be the only refreshed GPU.

Many rumours claim the RX 6×50 XT will feature 18Gbps GDDR6 memory, an upgrade from the 16Gbps used in all other RX 6000 series SKUS (except the RX 6500 XT and the liquid-cooled RX 6900 XT). Others also thought AMD would use 6nm-based GPUs, but Moore's Law Is Dead has already confirmed that won't be the case.

The Radeon RX 6950 XT will only feature a 12.5% memory speed increase if these rumours are true, which likely means we can expect similar performance to the liquid-cooled RX 6900XT graphics cards.

AMD is expected to release its new RDNA 3 graphics later this year, but that isn't stopping the company from launching more graphics cards between now and then. As it seems, the Radeon RX 6500 is coming in just a few months, followed by an RX 6×50 XT refresh a month or two later.

The rumoured release dates were first shared by Greymon55, who claims that the Radeon RX 6500 (non-XT) will come out in May for $130. This card will be similar to the OEM- exclusive RX 6400, which features a Navi 24 GPU with 12CUs clocked at 2321MHz, 12x ray accelerators and 4GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 16Gbps across a 64-bit memory interface.

Assuming they're indeed similar, the Radeon RX 6500 could be the first Radeon RX 6000 series GPU coming to the DIY PC market without power connectors (53W TBP).

In addition, the leaker also mentioned that the RX 6x50XT cards should be coming out in June or July. These will then be replaced by the RDNA3 graphics cards, which are planned to release later this year, as Dr. Lisa Su said during the Q3 2021 earnings call.

AMD hasn't yet confirmed the Radeon RX 6×50 XT nor do we know what their specifications are, but we assume AMD will be using 18Gbps GDDR6 memory modules and maybe 6nm-based GPU dies.
