PowerColor has stirred up quite a storm by pulling back the curtain on their Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics card ahead of AMD's official announcement. Besides showing the design of the upcoming Red Devil model, it also confirmed the specifications of AMD's new gaming GPU.

As per the spec sheet on the product page (only accessible via WaybackMachine), the RX 7800 XT Red Devil graphics card will be based on the RDNA3 GPU architecture, featuring 3840 stream processors (Navi 32?). That's about the same SM count as the previous-gen Radeon RX 6800. Moreover, the sheet states the card has a 2255MHz gaming clock and a 2565MHz boost clock, surpassing AMD’s reported reference clock speeds of 2210MHz and 2520MHz, respectively.

As we've come to expect, the Radeon RX 7800 XT comes with 16GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit bus, matching the configuration of the Radeon RX 6800 series. However, the new GPU uses slightly faster memory modules, allowing the 16GB of memory to run at 18Gbps.

Moving on to this model's specific features, PowerColor recommends an 800W power supply and the utilisation of two 8-pin power connectors to ensure optimal performance for this card. This model also comes with a triple-fan cooling solution, complemented by a cluster of eight heatpipes. A copper plate establishes direct contact with the GPU, enveloping the VRAM and dissipating the heat generated. A high-quality PCB, an 11+3+1+2+1 phase VRM design, and DrMOS featuring IMON real-time digital monitoring to ensure the card's stability during operation.

PowerColor recently launched two GPU backplates for its Radeon RX 7900 series Red Devil graphics cards. Named Devil Skins, PowerColor's swappable backplates are considerably different from one another, each offering unique aesthetics to choose from.

Previously, only the customers who bought the Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Limited Edition had access to a Devil Skin (Lava backplate). Now, with the launch of the Generative and Intrusive Devil Skins, anyone with a Red Devil 7900 series card can add some extra flair to their GPU and system.

The Intrusive Skin is a plastic-only backplate designed to protect your card while providing a fashionable and open appearance to let air flow through the card. The Generative backplate is quite different from the Intrusive backplate, offering a mesh-like design in plastic and aluminium that allows your GPU to breathe more freely.

PowerColor's new GPU backplates are compatible with the company's Radeon RX 7900 Devil series GPUs, meaning you can use them on both Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX cards. Thanks to a few conveniently placed magnets, anyone can mount these backplates. Put the Devil Skin onto the card's existing backplates, and it's all done. The Generative and Intrusive Devil Skins will cost $59.99 and $29.99, respectively.

With AMD RDNA 3-based graphics cards right around the corner, AIB partners are already working on their own custom models. PowerColor is one such manufacturer, and proof of that can be found in a new teaser for an upcoming Devil-series graphics card.

The picture posted on Twitter by PowerColor shows the famous Devil series logo illuminated by LEDs inside a red and translucent crystal-shaped polygon. This “crystal” seems to be placed on the right part of a graphics card, leaving us wondering where the fans are. Our guess is that this card is cooled by an AIO liquid cooler.

In the same post where PowerColor shared the picture, it also announced it would give away a “very special PowerColor Devil”. It's unclear what exactly PowerColor is referring to, but we assume it's a PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 Devil series graphics card, possibly a limited or special edition. To participate in the giveaway, the company is asking users to make a reel, retweet, use #PowerColor_pimp_my_rig and tag @PowerColor. The event will run from November 2nd to November 9th, and winners will be announced on November 10th. According to the company, the prize will be delivered by December 31st.

AMD will introduce the first RDNA 3-based graphics cards today at 8:00 pm GMT. Soon after, PowerColor should officially reveal the new Devil series cards, putting our questions to rest.

Three different PowerColor Radeon RX 6600 XT cards listings have been spotted at a New Zealand retailer, suggesting AMD might release the RX 6600 XT sooner rather than later. Currently, this GPU is rumoured to launch in August, although AMD has yet to announce anything officially.

Lately, there have been lots of rumours and leaks regarding the Radeon RX 6600 XT. From what we've gathered, this GPU is expected to release on August 11th, and early benchmarks already have us wondering about real-world performance.

Now, listings of three different Radeon RX 6600 XT models were spotted at a New Zealand retailer. The listings have been removed but VideoCardz was able to take a screenshot showing the prices and names of each model beforehand.

As seen in the image above, the three PowerColor Radeon RX 6600 XT cards were the Fighter, Hellhound, and Red Devil models. As per their name, each of them will feature 8GB of GDDR6 memory, further confirming the memory specifications we've been hearing. Clock speeds were not disclosed.

Regarding their pricing, they were each listed at $1248.99 (New Zealand dollars), which is about £633.36. Considering all three models are priced equally, and how expensive they would be if they were sold at this price, we will assume these values are placeholders.

A week on from the launch of AMD's RDNA 2-based RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT GPUs, today we take a look at the first AIB model to come through our labs. The PowerColor RX 6800 XT Red Devil is a huge, triple-slot and triple-fan graphics card, with plenty of RGB lighting, a beefed-up VRM and dual-BIOS functionality. We put the Red Devil through its paces and see how it compares to AMD's reference design.

There is no doubt that the PowerColor RX 5700 XT Red Devil was one of the best aftermarket RX 5700 XT cards that we reviewed, delivering hugely significant improvements compared to AMD's reference blower-style cooler. That means expectations are fairly high for the RX 6800 XT Red Devil, and considering the sheer size of the thing, we are certainly looking for some thermal and acoustic improvements compared to the reference 6800 XT.

PowerColor has also sweetened the deal by adding a few extra features which the reference card lacks. There's RGB lighting on the underside, the end of the card and on the backplate, while there's the choice of either the OC or Silent BIOS, and PowerColor has even included an ARGB header to sync the RGB lighting via your motherboard. Factor in the enhanced power delivery, which PowerColor claims is able to deliver ‘well over' 400W, plus the factory overclocked core, and the Red Devil has all the ingredients to be a successful card. Let's find out whether or not that is the case.

As a quick recap, here we can take a high-level overview of the Navi 21 GPU that forms the basis of the RX 6800 XT. While it is still fabricated on TSMC's 7nm process node, as per the RX 5000-series, Navi 21 sports a much larger GPU die, measuring 519 mm². For the RX 6800 XT, it houses 72 Compute Units (CUs), with 64 Stream Processors each, giving a grand total of 4608 shaders.

Rated clock speed has increased significantly for the RX 6000 series. The reference RX 6800 XT, for instance, has a rated game clock of 2015MHz and a rated boost clock of up to 2250MHz. The PowerColor Red Devil has increased this to 2090MHz and 2340MHz, respectively.

AMD has also increased the memory capacity, with 16GB of GDDR6 memory found on every RX 6000 SKU (so far). The memory is clocked at 16Gbps, and operates over a 256-bit memory interface for total bandwidth of 512 GB/s. AMD has also implemented a 128MB Infinity Cache on the Navi 21 GPU, to significantly increase effective memory bandwidth without excess power draw.

Speaking of power, the reference RX 6800 XT has a rated total board power (TBP) of 300W, though PowerColor has increased this for the Red Devil, as we will see later in this review.

A couple of months has passed since PowerColor teased us with images of a liquid-cooled version of its Radeon RX 5700 XT Red Devil graphics card. Today the company has officially announced the launch of the new water-cooled RX 5700 XT Liquid Devil.

PowerColor has been a long-term partner of AMD, the company was one of the original adopters of factory overclocked cards and the first to feature premium performance water blocks. PowerColor is once again partnering with one of the most well-known names in the liquid cooling industry EKWB to bring a uniquely designed GPU water block for its RX 5700 XT, providing advanced users with unrivalled thermal performance.

Not only does the PowerColor RX 5700 XT now feature a liquid cooling solution, the company claims to have used a selective binning process to ensure only the best 5700 XT GPUs find their way into the Liquid Devil, in order to maximise the potential and make sure all the Liquid Devil cards are able to hit the highest performance points.

Additionally, PowerColor has built the Liquid Devil with a new 12-layer PCB design, including 10 VRMs that utilise DrMOS and high-polymer capacitors able to handle over 300W of power.  Unlike the standard RX 5700 XT's dual BIOS option which include OC and Silent modes, the Liquid Devil features an Unleash and OC mode. OC mode offers the same overclock seen on cards such as the Red Devil and Red Dragon, while the Unleash mode take the performance up a notch with higher clock frequencies of up to 2070 MHz on the GPU core.

PowerColor suggests the RX 5700 XT Liquid Devil will be available week commencing 25th November with an MSRP of £569. The card will arrive to customers bundled with the Liquid Devil Dye Pack for use with clear or white CryoFuel coolant.

A few days ago, we had the chance to cover the launch of custom AIB versions of the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT. We reviewed the Sapphire Pulse at launch and have known about the ASUS line up for a couple of weeks now. Today, Power Colour is arriving to the party, with several RX 5700 models in tow, including the Red Devil special edition.

Power Colour is launching two versions of the RX 5700 series, the first is the well-known Red Devil variant, while the second is known as Red Dragon. The limited edition RX 5700 XT Red Devil has three 90mm fans spread across a 300mm long cooler with a thick backplate for extra protection. This custom GPU uses a 12-layer PCB design with 10 VRMs and high-polymer caps, setting it up to be one of the ultimate RX 5700 XT custom cards for overclocking.

As usual, the Red Devil series offers a Dual BIOS function. At stock settings, the RX 5700 XT Red Devil is clocked at 1905MHz and boosts up to 2010MHz, while the standard RX 5700 Red Devil is clocked at 1725MHz with a boost up to 1750MHz.

The Power Colour Red Dragon cards use a dual-fan cooler instead, with two 100mm fans, five heat pipes and the same dual-BIOS capabilities as the Red Devil card. One of the key differences here are the out-of-box clock speeds, which come in at 1795MHz with a boost up to 1905MHz for the 5700 XT Red Dragon, and 1720MHz with a boost up to 1750MHz on the standard RX 5700 Red Dragon.

Currently, the Power Colour RX 5700 XT Red Devil is set to cost $439/£449 while the RX 5700 Red Devil will be $389. A limited edition version of the Red Devil RX 5700 XT will be available for $10 more and includes RGB, premium packaging and bundles an RGB mouse pad.

Next week, the Power Colour Red Dragon cards will be made available, although we only have USD pricing for now. The XT will be $409 and the standard RX 5700 will be $359.

KitGuru Says: We have some solid looking cards from Power Colour on the way. We will be reviewing these soon, so keep an eye out.

RX Vega has been out on the market in reference form for months now, but it has taken a while for third-party board partners to roll out custom versions. ASUS was the first with its Vega Strix model. Since then, we have seen that XFX is working on one of its own and now PowerColor is also joining the race with an RX Vega 64 Red Devil card.

Videocardz managed to get the exclusive on this one, showing off the Red Devil card in all of its glory. This version of the RX Vega 64 has three fans mounted onto a huge heatsink covering the entire PCB. The PCB in this case stretches across the full length of the card, rather than being extended by additional material.

The Red Devil card comes with three different BIOS versions built in, which you can swap between using the physical switch on the card. There is an additional switch on the card to control the Red Devil logo backlighting too.

The PCB hasn't changed much over the reference design. The report notes that the same number of V-core phases are used and connectivity options have been changed to include two DisplayPorts and two HDMI ports. The PCB is also slightly wider than the reference version to accommodate the big cooler.

Pricing and availability information is still up in the air but apparently, we should see this card launch in early December.

KitGuru Says: The PowerColor Red Devil cards have always been pretty solid and it looks like this won't be an exception. It will certainly be interesting to see how far Vega 64 can be pushed with such a massive cooler mounted on to it.

The RX 480 is already an impressive card, so the fact that PowerColor has released a new BIOS update for its high-end Red Devil version is quite a surprise. However that's exactly what it's done and it unlocks a number of options which should help overclockers and enthusiasts push their card to its limits.

The PowerColor Red Devil RX 480 packed quite a number of impressive features right off of the bat. It had an extra 8pin power connector, a triple fan cooler and a fancy red on black colour scheme. The logo was a bit tramp-stampy, but every manufacturer is susceptible to that now and again.

The new update increases the voltage limits, so you can apply more power to the memory and core to further improve your overclock. It also removes a restriction on the TDP, so you can really push it up a notch.

reddevilrx

Of course this is designed with power users in mind, so don't go messing with settings until you know what you're doing – but it seems unlikely that people uninterested in tweaking would opt for a card like the Red Devil version any way.

As a word of warning for even the enthusiasts among you though, PowerColor does suggest that nobody run Furmark after applying the update, as it has purportedly damaged a number of cards.

You can download the BIOS update from the official Devil Club (thanks Hexus), or without a sign-up over with our pals at TechPowerUp.
