With RTX 30 series' imminent launch, we finally get a look at the reference boards of both RTX 3080 and 3090. Both GPUs will be mounted on PG132 reference boards to produce the AiB partners' graphics cards, while the Nvidia Founders Edition will be based on PG133 and PG136 PCBs for the RTX 3080 and 3090, respectively.

The reference board pictures have different sources: one comes from the product images of a Bykski water block available at AegirX MOD Store page, on AliExpress, while the other was posted on Bilibili forum by Yuuki_Ans.

Looking at both photos, one thing that immediately pops out is the absence of the NVLink connector on the RTX 3080 PCB. On the other hand, the RTX 3090 has one, which is expected given its dual-GPU support. Other noticeable difference is the number of memory modules that each card has, with the RTX 3080 getting 10 modules (10GB GDDR6X), and the RTX 3090 showing 12 dual-sided modules (24GB GDDR6X). The RTX 3080 picture also shows that there's space for 2x extra modules.

Both PCBs feature 2x 8-pin power connectors, but the rest of the power delivery design is different. The RTX 3080 has 3 power phases and 6 capacitors less than the RTX 3090. Even so, the RTX 3090 still has empty power stages and capacitors slots, meaning that a Titan Ampere graphics card could well be using this same board.

The Nvidia RTX 3080 is due to launch tomorrow. The RTX 3090 will follow a bit later, scheduled to launch on September 24th.

KitGuru says: Are you hoping to get an RTX 30 series graphics card once availability opens up?
