We've been hearing about a new all-digital version of the Xbox Series X for a while now. While previous leaks pointed to a more comprehensive refresh, with an all-new design and 6nm chip at the centre, more recent photos point to a simpler design tweak, showing the Xbox Series X as we know it today … but without the disc drive.

Exputer has obtained photos of the purported digital Xbox Series X. It looks identical to the current model, but notably, the disc drive has been removed and the colour has changed to white, likely in an effort to differentiate it more from the current Xbox Series X.

It has also been claimed that the all-digital model will see up to a $100 discount over the standard Xbox Series X. Some internal components may also be upgraded for improved power efficiency and better cooling.

Assuming these photos are legitimate, then we should see the white, digital Xbox Series X console later this year.

KitGuru Says: If you are going all digital, then extra storage space is essential. With that in mind, I would like to see a bump to a 2TB SSD in this new version of the console.

While Star Wars Outlaws was expected to launch in early 2024 at one point, the game was delayed to later in the year. However, the game may still arrive well before the holiday season, with recent developments indicating a release date announcement is coming soon.

Star Wars Outlaws has now been rated in both South Korea and Australia, brandishing a ‘Mature' rating from Australia's classification board. As Insider Gaming points out, this would be roughly equivalent to a ‘Teen' rating from the ESRB.

Typically, ratings like this pop up a few months ahead of a game's release. It has previously been claimed that despite delays, the game is being planned for the first half of this year. These recent ratings support that idea.

If true, then Ubisoft will be revealing more of the game and starting its marketing push quite soon, ahead of a potential June release. With that said, Ubisoft has never been shy about delaying projects, to the point where announced release dates often can't be trusted, so we'll have to wait and see how it goes. On the positive side, we have not heard anything about development troubles with this project, so it could be progressing well and ahead of schedule.

KitGuru Says: May the 4th is coming up and typically, Disney likes to use this date to make announcements for Star Wars projects across all forms of media, from film and TV to comics, books and games. With that in mind, it seems highly likely that we'll get release date news around that time.

It has been quite some time since Square Enix first announced the next major expansion for its top-selling MMO, Final Fantasy 14, The new expansion, titled ‘Dawntrail', now finally has a release date after months of secrecy.

Speaking at PAX East over the weekend, Final Fantasy 14 director and producer, Naoki Yoshida, announced that the Dawntrail expansion would officially launch on the 2nd of July 2024. However, those who pre-order can get access a few days earlier, starting on the 28th of June.

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail will be landing well ahead of this year's impending World of Warcraft expansions. Final Fantasy 14 has given WoW a real run for its money in recent years, going from strength to strength and rising to be perhaps the most popular subscription-based MMO currently on the market.

Square Enix has remained aggressive with its MMO, consistently delivering new content with critically acclaimed expansions like Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker. Dawntrail will mark the game's fifth major expansion and promises to usher in a new era for the game, after the major arc finale that took place in Endwalker.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been stealing the spotlight recently but there is still plenty of new content coming for players of last year's major release, Final Fantasy 16. The Rising Tide expansion was announced a few months ago and now, we have an April release date, as well as a glimpse into what fans can expect from Clive's new adventure.

Final Fantasy 16 was released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 last year, with very good reviews. After seeing its success, Yoshi-P (producer) and the team over at Square Enix announced the game would get post-launch content via DLCs. The first expansion for the game was Echoes of the Fallen, released in December, and The Rising Tide will follow in April.

Square Enix revealed more details about The Rising Tide. The DLC will introduce new features, including an increased level cap of 60 for the Story and Action-Focused modes and 110 for Final Fantasy mode, a higher difficulty level unlocked after beating the game with ‘remixed' boss fights. Clive will also receive new Eikon abilities (Leviathan), while players seeking endgame content will enjoy more challenges and leaderboards in a new expansion called Kairos Gate. In addition, there will be new side quests, weapons, and a “reimagined version” of the Curtana from Final Fantasy 14, as well as “Torn from the Heavens” and “Through the Maelstrom” Orchestrion Rolls for the hideout.

As for the patch 1.30, it will bring numerous improvements including:

 • Return to a quest giver immediately with the new “Quick Complete” function
 • Icon updates for important character quests
 • A new Skill Set feature, which allows players to save up to five unique Feat and Ability sets
 • Abilities and Accessories adjusted for easier use
 • New “Custom” controller type allows for freely customizable button layouts
 • Tone correction, screen effects, and more added to Photo Mode
 • Numerous new orchestrion rolls added

The Rising Tide will be available for purchase standalone or as part of the Final Fantasy 16 Expansion Pass for £19.99/€24.99/$24.99.

It has been a few months since Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero was announced. The game is still some ways off but we're slowly getting more gameplay, including a new showcase trailer featuring 11 new confirmed characters.

During the latest gameplay showcase, we get confirmation of fan favourite characters, as well as some niche characters that show the developer's commitment to an expansive roster, as is tradition for the Budokai Tenkaichi games. While not called ‘Budokai Tenkaichi' in the west, this game is indeed the new Budokai Tenkaichi game that was teased over a year ago.

For convenience, the full list of newly confirmed characters can be found below:

 • Super Trunks
 • Master Roshi, Max Power
 • Nappa
 • Burter
 • Jeice
 • Super Saiyan Broly (Full Power)
 • Hit
 • Super Saiyan Kale (Berserk)
 • Toppo
 • Dyspo
 • Kakunsa

Alongside this, we get a sneak peek at some new battle mechanics, including the Revenge Counter and Vanishing Assaults.

Unfortunately, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero does not have a release date yet but it is expected to release later this year for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

KitGuru Says: I played all of the Dragon Ball Budokai and Tenkaichi games when I was younger, so I'm very much looking forward to this. Hopefully the full roster can live up to the standards set by its predecessors.

Last year, Bandai Namco surprised us all with the announcement of Sand Land, a new game based on Akira Toriyama's short, 1-volume manga. Fans were immediately drawn in at the sight of Toriyama's distinctive character designs, and now, we can try the game out for ourselves thanks to a free demo.

A demo for Sand Land is now available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, allowing players to explore a portion of the map with characters Rao, Beelzebub and Thief, each of which have their own unique skills.

The full gsame will release on April 26th, promising an action-packed adventure in the desert. As an action RPG, players will also have lots of customisation options, including upgradeable weapons and an upgradeable vehicle.

The game's release comes at a sad time, as Akira Toriyama unfortunately passed away earlier this month. Toriyama was best known for the Dragon Ball manga, but he was also heavily involved with games like Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger, alongside many other projects.

Sand Land originally released as a manga in the early 2000s. The 14 chapter-long series was published in the weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, before being collected into a single book. A film adaptation of the series released last year and soon, a new anime series based on the manga will debut.

We've seen a few big streamers and content creators go on to work directly in games. One of the most popular gaming YouTube channels, Dunkey, set up his own publisher back in 2022, called Big Mode, with plans to shine a light on and bring hidden-gem indie games to market. Now, almost 18 months later, Big Mode's first game has been announced.

Dunkey isn't involved directly in game development. However, Big Mode does offer support, funding, PR & community management, merchandising and help with porting, QA and localisation for projects under its umbrella. Big Mode's first published game has now been announced – Animal Well, a Metroidvania platformer for PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Animal Well is developed by indie studio, Shared Memory, a company started by a lone developer, Billy Basso, who has been working on this game for seven years already. The game was first announced last year, with a trailer debuting in 2023 as part of the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. A new release date trailer has now been shared via the Big Mode YouTube channel, which you can see further up in this post.

The game will officially release on the 9th of May. Currently, there are no confirmed plans for an Xbox console release.

Intel first debuted a ‘KS' version of its flagship chip with the Core i9-9900KS back in October 2019, and the tradition has carried on each generation since. Today, Intel unveils its latest ‘KS' chip, the Core i9-14900KS, reaching 6.2GHz speeds out of the box.

While most enthusiasts will be happy with the regular K or KF versions of Intel's 14th Gen Core i9 processor, those who value overclocking potential will likely want the KS variant. These are pre-binned Core i9 processors, meaning they have been tested to achieve higher speeds than the average chip. In the case of the Core i9-14900KS, we're looking at a 6.2GHz clock speed out of the box, but extreme overclockers may be able to push it further with more powerful cooling solutions.

Of course, getting this speed did require a TDP bump, so the Core i9-14900KS draws an extra 25W of power compared to the K or KF variants. 6.2GHz is also the max boost clock, which applies to P-cores and not E-cores. It might be possible to push all of your cores to higher speeds, but you will need to tinker around in the BIOS overclocking menus to see what results you can get.

The Intel i9-14900KS is available starting today in the US, priced at $699. Here in the UK, we're looking at a £689.99 price tag.

V Rising is a survival action-RPG which sees players “Awaken as a vampire,” forcing you to “hunt for blood in nearby settlements to regain your strength and evade the scorching sun to survive”. The game first launched in Early Access back in 2022, and after nearly two years of work, V Rising is finally ready to hit 1.0 this May.

Almost exactly two years after it first launched via Early Access (on the 17th of May 2022) V Rising is finally set to officially release on the 8th of May 2024 – marking the end of a relatively short early access period.

For the uninitiated, V Rising is a multiplayer survival RPG which sees you play as a vampire, necessitating the consumption of blood and a fear of daylight – among many other survival elements.

The game hit it big back during its initial Early Access launch, selling an impressive 1.5 million copies within its first two weeks.

It is worth noting that while V Rising is set to also come to PlayStation, its release date has yet to be confirmed, aside from a vague 2024 calendar year window.

It’s always exciting whenever a game finally leaves Early Access. Hopefully V Rising gets an injection of new players upon its official launch.

The Finals enters its second season starting tomorrow, March 14th. From there, players will get access to a whole new battle pass with new rewards. That's not all though, the game will also be introducing new weapons for each class, as well as a new 5v5 PvP mode.

The new 5v5 mode is called Power Shift, and will have teams competing to escort a platform through the arena. This will all take place on the new SYS$HORIZON map, which features glitch effects on the geometry to bring this season's ‘hacker' theme to life.

As for class updates, the Light class will get a new portal gun, known as The Gateway, allowing you to quickly open up an easy transport to another area. Medium builds will get a new specialisation called The Dematerialiser, which can temporarily blink physical surfaces out of existence,as well as the Data Reshaper, which can morph objects. Finally, Heavy players will get a new shotgun and deployable anti-gravity gadget.

If you are a regular ranked player, then you should also know that the ranked system will now be a League system moving forward, with a new career progression tab in place to offer weekly rewards for completing challenges. Private matches are also on the way, but will be beta tested first.

After a lengthy development, Nightdive Studios’ System Shock Remake finally released on PC in May of last year, faithfully recreating the 1994 immersive sim classic. Console players unfortunately were told that they had to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the game. Finally however, a release date has been confirmed alongside some surprising extras.

Making the announcement via a press release, the team at Nightdive Studios said “The award-winning System Shock remake, based on the iconic 1994 sci-fi action game is coming to consoles on 21 May 2024, featuring an expanded ending, a new female hacker protagonist and more!”

Arriving almost exactly one year on from its PC release, the console version of System Shock Remake promises “a newly reworked ending that upgrades the final confrontation with SHODAN!” alongside the option to “choose between a male or female-presenting Hacker protagonist.”

In terms of graphics, the game is said to run at “Up to 4K 60FPS visuals on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X”. It is unknown whether this means there will be multiple performance modes, or if the use of “up to” refers more to a dynamic resolution setup. We will have to wait and see, but hopefully it is the former.

In a welcome move, System Shock Remake will be available both digitally and in disc form for those who prefer to own their games physically. Unfortunately – though unsurprisingly – the Xbox One and PS4 versions will be digital-only.

Though console players have had to wait patiently for a port of System Shock Remake, it looks as though it will have been more than worth the wait.

The Final Fantasy 14 beta has been available on Xbox for a few weeks now. So far, it seems that the beta has been a success and the full launch of the MMO will swiftly follow, with a release date now set for next week.

Final Fantasy 14's beta includes limited access to the game, without access to some of the newer expansions like Shadowbringers and Endwalker. However, on the 21st of March, the MMO will become fully available on Xbox consoles, giving players access to everything the game has to offer, from its earliest days right up to current content updates. Moving forward, all future Final Fantasy 14 content updates and expansions will arrive on Xbox alongside other platforms, like PlayStation and PC.

To sweeten the deal, those with a Game Pass Ultimate membership will be able to claim the game's ‘starter edition' for free. This includes the base game and first two expansions, Heavensward and Stormblood. However, it is also worth noting that all of this content is also available as part of the Final Fantasy 14 ‘free trial', which is only available to brand new accounts and can't be accessed via an account with an active subscription or a lapsed subscription.

If you want to catch up and own all of the expansions, you'll have to pick up the game's ‘complete edition', or purchase the expansions individually as and when you are ready to play them.

While Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is making all the headlines at the moment, which would make it easy to forget that Final Fantasy 16 launched just under a year ago. Like Rebirth, Final Fantasy 16 launched as a PS5 exclusive, but a PC version has already been confirmed and now, Square Enix has given us a much needed update.

Final Fantasy 16 first launched in June and many fans had hoped that the PC version would be out before the end of 2023. Developers were quick to shoot this idea down, stating that it would take longer than six months to get a PC version of the game ready. Now, we finally have an update on the PC version, with producer, Naoki Yoshida, confirming to GameInformer that the game is in ‘the final stages'.

“In terms of where we are in development currently, we're trying to figure out the final stages of optimization right now”, Yoshida said. “When we can release the PC version might be dependent on that – the system requirements and specifications for PC that players will need, so we're trying to figure that out.”

Yoshida also warned that the PC specifications for the game are “looking to be somewhat high”. If you played Final Fantasy XV on PC, that may not be much of a shock. Additionally, Final Fantasy 16's 60FPS performance mode on PS5 had plenty of pitfalls, with massive resolution drops to achieve the higher frame rate in battles. Still, we can hope that the game's graphical settings will be scalable enough to support less powerful hardware, like the Steam Deck.

KitGuru Says: There is no word on a release date yet, but at this rate, I would assume that the PC version of Final Fantasy 16 will be dropping this summer, rather than later in the year. After that, we can turn our attention to the incoming PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which will no doubt fall somewhere into the 2025 calendar.

As announced last year, Amazon's upcoming Fallout TV series is finally set to air in April, with all episodes to become available to stream through Prime Video on the 11th of April. Now, ahead of that date, we now have a full length trailer, giving us a longer look at what to expect from the show.

Many have already commented on how good the Fallout series has looked so far. There is a good amount of faithfulness to the costume and set designs. The previous teaser trailer was also well received. Now, we have a full length trailer, introducing us to the overarching premise for the first season, as well as a few of the main characters we'll be following around.

The show will follow a new vault dweller, leaving the confines of the underground bunker to explore the surface world for the first time. At this point in time, a long period of time has passed and the Earth has been ravaged by nuclear weapons, leaving behind races of mutants, mixed in with other human survivors.

The trailer captures the spirit of the games very well and incorporates a good amount of humour. It is a strong start, now we'll have to see how well the series resonates once it drops next month.

It's official, Ghost of Tsushima is finally coming to PC, just as leaks earlier this week had claimed. Today, Sony has officially announced Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut for PC, complete with a new trailer. The port has been in development for over a year at Nixxes, a PC port specialist company that Sony acquired in recent years to produce games just like this.

The Director's Cut edition of the game includes the Iki Island expansion, which continues Jin's story beyond the events of the base game. You'll also have access to the multiplayer Legends mode if you want some co-op action.

The PC version will be polished, with a variety of graphics settings, customisable keyboard and mouse controls, and unlocked frame rates for even smoother gameplay than previously possible on console. You'll also get support for triple-monitor resolutions, as well as 21:9 and 32:9 ultrawide displays. Some PC-specific features include support for Nvidia DLSS 3 & DLAA, AMD's FSR 3, and Intel's XeSS upscaling technologies.

Pre-ordering the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store will net you some early in-game unlocks, including the New Game+ horse, and two outfits for Jin. The game will officially launch on the 16th of May.

MSI officially unveiled its first gaming handheld, the MSI Claw, back at CES. While we have hardware specs, we don't yet have an official launch date. Over in the US though, the handheld should be available as early as this week.

Starting on the 8th of March, the MSI Claw handheld will be available in the US. A product listing on Newegg is already live. This seems to be part of an initial ‘first wave', with a second wave of MSI Claw handhelds coming to the MSI store on the 12th of March, followed by wider retail availability via Best Buy and Micro Center on March 15th.

The MSI Claw will be one of just a few Intel-powered handheld gaming PCs on the market. The most popular solutions at the moment, like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, both use an AMD APU instead. The Claw will have an Intel Meteor Lake chip under the hood, with Xe graphics cores to provide some extra horsepower for gaming.

The handheld will also have a 7-inch, 1080p/120Hz display, integrated controllers and USB-C charging. Future versions of the Claw handheld are already in the works, MSI confirmed to IGN.

Riot has been working on its own fighting game, featuring characters from League of Legends, for years now under the working title ‘Project L'. Now, the game finally has an official name, platform confirmation and a release window.

Project L, Riot's League of Legends-based fighting game, now has an official name – 2XKO. We aren't quite sure how you are supposed to pronounce that, but it is the name they're going with.

The announcement is accompanied by a new development update video, which we've had a few of over the years since this project was first announced. The game is planned to launch in 2025 for PC, as well as Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles.

In order to gather feedback from fighting game enthusiasts, Riot will be attending a number of events this year armed with a demo for the game, which will first be playable at EVO Japan in April, before landing at other events throughout the year. It is unclear if a downloadable version of the demo will be made available this year for those who aren't attending any big gaming events, so we'll have to wait and see. We'll no doubt see plenty of impressions and discussions about the game once players finally get some hands-on time with it.

After a lengthy wait and much anticipation from fans, From Software has officially announced the release date for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Unfortunately, there is still several more months of waiting ahead but given From Software's track record, the wait will be worth it.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will officially launch on the 21st of June for all platforms that the base game is available on, which includes last-gen consoles like the Xbox One and PS4. The expansion will introduce a new story and a new world to explore. While there is still a bit of a wait ahead for launch, there is a new 3-minute gameplay trailer:

Unexpectedly, this will be an expensive expansion, coming in at £34.99, but given how beloved Elden Ring's base game is, as well as From Software's many other titles, I'm sure many will be willing to spend the money.

As for the future, From Software head, Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed to IGN that the team is open to a second expansion, or a sequel, although there are no ‘current plans' for either.

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo has been available for a little while now on PS5 but today, Square Enix has released an update, expanding the amount of the game players can explore early.

The new updated version of the demo is now available, which allows players to explore more of the map, including a large open area near Junon. Interestingly, this part of the demo will include content ‘unique to the demo'.

As previously announced, all progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game when it launches on the 29th of February, so you can get started on your journey early. The demo also includes improvements to the game's performance mode.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be exclusive to the PS5 console for an undisclosed amount of time. Like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, we should eventually see a PC release.

Earlier this month, Microsoft confirmed plans to bring a few of its exclusive games to other platforms. We're getting four games in all, thought to be Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment and Grounded. To kick things off, Microsoft will be shipping both Pentiment and Grounded for Nintendo Switch.

As announced in today's Nintendo Direct focused on third-party studios, Microsoft will be bringing both Pentiment and Grounded to the Nintendo Switch.

Pentiment is a smaller 2D narrative-focused game from Obsidian's Josh Sawyer, who also directed Pillars of Eternity, the game that effectively saved Obsidian from going under.

Grounded trailer:

Grounded was one of the first Obsidian games announced after Microsoft acquired the company back in 2019. This is a survival game, based around the concept of ‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids', where four players are shrunk down to ant-size and sent out into the backyard to explore. It has a fun story element to it, a ton of building mechanics and lots of interesting areas to explore. Despite all being set in one backyard, there are multiple large biomes to explore.

Pentiment is launching on Nintendo Switch tomorrow, while Grounded will be coming on the 16th of April.

After multiple delays, Ubisoft's new multiplayer shooter, XDefiant, is finally going to release. The game became popular after successful playtests in 2023, but due to delays, the game has taken longer to release than expected.

During Ubisoft's recent corporate earnings call, the company confirmed that XDefiant will be released sometime this quarter. Given that we're already well into February, that would mean that the game will finally launch with ‘Season 0' within a handful of weeks.

With the game arriving before the end of March, it would seem that any lingering issues with netcode and stability have now been fixed. The game may well be re-going through console platform certification right now.

XDefiant was initially planned as a Tom Clancy cross-over game but after fan complaints, Ubisoft pivoted, turning it into its own IP with original characters. Buzz around the game began to build after playtests commenced in 2023. Since then, fantastic shooters like The Finals have emerged, so it will be interesting to see if XDefiant can still maintain the hype it built up last year.

As predicted, last night during Sony's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth stream, Square Enix officially announced plans for a demo. Better yet, if you have a PS5, you can download it right now.

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo has arrived on PS5, ahead of the game's full release on the 29th of February. In Rebirth, players will finally get to explore the massive world of Final Fantasy 7, beyond the city of Midgar, which was the only location available in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

A new chunk of gameplay has also been released, which you can view above. While last year's Final Fantasy 16 focused more on linear gameplay with some smaller, open maps, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will offer a much bigger open world to explore, with areas seamlessly stitched together.

If you get started in the game through the demo, you'll be able to carry your progress over to the full game, so the demo is an opportunity to get playing early. An update to the demo is planned in the weeks ahead that will open up a bit more of the map too.

The post The RTX 3050 is making a comeback first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
We're well over a year into the current generation of graphics cards, with the RTX 40 series replacing most of the former RTX 30 series graphics cards on the market. While there is an RTX 4050 GPU for laptops, there is no version of this card for desktop systems. At this rate, we may not see a desktop RTX 4050 at all, as Nvidia is keeping the RTX 3050 alive for 2024.

Nvidia has now launched a new 6GB version of the RTX 3050, coming in at a cheaper price point than the current 8GB model. However, there are some other key differences aside from VRAM capacity. For starters, the memory runs on a narrower 96-bit bus, a step back from the 128-bit bus on the RTX 3050 8GB. This lowers bandwidth to 168 GB/s versus 224 GB/s.

The RTX 3050 6GB also has fewer CUDA cores than the standard RTX 3050 8GB, dropping from 2560 CUDA cores to 2304 cores, clock speeds are also dialled back from a 1777MHz boost speed to 1470MHz. The power limit has also dropped from 130W to 70W, as pointed out by VideoCardz, as the 6GB model does not ship with an additional PCIe power connector.

European retailer, Mindfactory, already has a few RTX 3050 6GB listings live, with prices starting at €185, so we're likely going to see $180/£180 prices in the US and UK.

Rocksteady's latest game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is finally coming out, over eight years on from the release of their last game, Batman: Arkham Knight. While there is some scepticism around this release due to its co-op focused, live service nature, Rocksteady still has plenty of fans looking to jump in. Unfortunately, as soon as the servers went live earlier today, players began encountering a game-breaking bug.

Roughly one hour from the start of pre-order early access for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady has had to pull the servers offline. Players were finding that upon logging in for the first time, the game would automatically skip the story and mark it as completed, throwing players right into the endgame.

It is a pretty poor start for a game that many were already sceptical of due to its online nature. Still, the bug should be swiftly fixed with online access to be restored. We're still awaiting an update from Rocksteady but fixing this ahead of midnight is going to be a big priority.

The game officially goes live for all pre-order customers on the 30th of January. On certain platforms, the game is already live as long as you know how to use a VPN.

Hellblade II was the first game shown off by Microsoft for the Xbox Series X|S all the way back in December 2019. In the many years since we have seen a whole host of trailers – though no release date. Ahead of the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II has seemingly had its release date leaked.

As reported by Exputer, Microsoft is set to announce the official release date during the company’s upcoming Xbox Developer Direct. Set to take place on the 18th of January, the showcase was confirmed to feature Ninja Theory and Hellblade II in one form or another – though no specifics were given.

Thanks to this latest report, we now know that Microsoft is planning to announce the release date during the showcase, with Hellblade II said to be coming in just a few months on the 21st of May.

As mentioned, Hellblade II was the very first Xbox Series game to be announced by Microsoft, having been revealed alongside the Xbox Series X back during the 2019 Game Awards. While it has certainly been a long wait for Hellblade II, the game is clearly much more ambitious than the first – and so hopefully it will have been worth the extended development.

At CES today, Nvidia is officially launching three new graphics cards – the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super. We can now put to rest a long running stream of rumours and leaks with official details on specs and pricing. New hardware isn't the only thing Nvidia has on the way though, as the company is also launching new software features too.

We'll start off on the software front. At Computex last year, Nvidia officially announced ACE, its new set of tools to create realistic digital avatars. Leveraging AI tools, developers can use ACE features like Audio2Face and Riva to automatically detect speech and create facial expressions. The goal here is to allow game makers to create life-like NPCs, with high-fidelity and natural animations. Tools like Convai can also allow NPCs to converse amongst themselves and interact with objects, which could help create more realistic worlds.

A number of developers are already using ACE, including Inworld, NetEase, Tencent, Ubisoft and miHoYo. Nvidia ACE is now widely available for use, so we should see more game developers exploring the technology this year.

Moving on to hardware, Nvidia is officially launching the RTX 40 Super series graphics cards. The RTX 4080 Super is said to be 1.4X faster than the RTX 3080 Ti without DLSS Frame Generation. Activating DLSS 3 Frame Gen can boost it up to being 2X more powerful than the RTX 3080 Ti. The RTX 4070 Ti Super is described as the “ideal GPU” for running games at maximum settings at 1440p and 4K. The RTX 4070 Super gets the biggest upgrade here over its original counterpart, with 20% more cores, making it faster than an RTX 3090 while using up less power.

You can see the specs in the table below:

GPU CUDA Cores Memory Base/Boost speeds TGP
RTX 4080 Super 10240 16GB GDDR6X 2295MHz / 2550MHz 320W
RTX 4080 9728 16GB GDDR6X 2205MHz / 2505MHz 320W
RTX 4070 Ti Super 8448 16GB GDDR6X 2340MHz / 2610MHz 285W
RTX 4070 Ti 7680 12GB GDDR6X 2310MHz / 2610MHz 285W
RTX 4070 Super 7168 12GB GDDR6X 1980MHz / 2475MHz 220W
RTX 4070 5888 12GB GDDR6X 1920MHz / 2475MHz 200W

The biggest surprise here is the new pricing. While the RTX 4080 originally launched at $1199, the RTX 4080 Super is launching at $999 instead. The RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super will match the MSRPs of the previous models, coming in at $799 and $599 respectively. The vanilla RTX 4070 meanwhile sees an official price cut to $549, though do note the original 4070 Ti and 4080 will be discontinued in favour of the new Super models.

For those in the UK, Nvidia has confirmed the 4070 Super MSRP at £579, the 4070 Ti Super is £769 and the 4080 Super is £959.

The RTX 4070 Super will be available starting on the 17th of January. The RTX 4070 Ti Super will hit the market on the 24th of January and the RTX 4080 Super will be available starting on the 31st of January.

CES is upon us and AMD is kicking things off with a new round of processors. Not only are we getting the Ryzen 8000G APUs, but new Ryzen 5000 series processors are on the way, solidifying the longevity of the AM4 platform. On the graphics side, AMD is launching the recently rumoured RX 7600 XT.

We'll start off with the new AM4 processors. While AMD has moved on to Ryzen 7000 CPUs, these new chips use the AM5 socket and require a motherboard upgrade. There is still plenty of life left in the AM4 platform though, with AMD continuing to support it with new Ryzen 5000 series processors. There will be four new Ryzen 5000 processors, one with 3D V-Cache. These processors will be available at pretty low prices too:

Processor Cores/Threads Boost/Base Frequency Total Cache TDP
Ryzen 7 5700X3D 8C/16T 4.1GHz / 3.0GHz 100MB 105W
Ryzen 7 5700 8C/16T 4.6GHz / 3.7GHz 20MB 65W
Ryzen 5 5600GT 6C/12T 4.6GHz / 3.6GHz 19MB 65W
Ryzen 5 5500GT 6C/12T 4.4GHz / 3.6GHz 19MB 65W

The Ryzen 7 5700X3D will be launching at $249, the Ryzen 7 5700 will cost $175, the 5600GT will cost $140 and the 5500GT will be available for $125.

Moving on to the new Ryzen 8000G APUs, these chips aim to deliver the best integrated graphics possible, combined with Zen 4 CPU cores. These processors also are AMD's first to include an NPU, which will accelerate AI workloads. Full specs can be found in the table below:

Processor Cores/Threads Boost/Base Frequency Total Cache TDP NPU
Ryzen 7 8700G 8C/16T 5.1GHz / 4.2GHz 24MB 65W Yes
Ryzen 5 8600G 6C/12T 5.0GHz / 4.3GHz 22MB 65W Yes
Ryzen 5 8500G 6C/12T 5.0GHz / 3.5GHz 22MB 65W N/A
Ryzen 3 8300G 4C/8T 4.9GHz / 3.4GHz 12MB 65W N/A

While we don't have pricing for the entry level 8300G, we do have suggested retail pricing for the higher-end SKUs. The 8500G should launch at $179, the 8600G should be available for $229 and finally, the Ryzen 7 8700G will be launching at $329.

On the laptop side, various OEM partners are now launching new laptops powered by AMD's new Ryzen 8040 series CPUs for laptops. New models from Acer, Lenovo, HP, Razer and Asus are all launching at CES this week, so keep an eye out for a closer look at those in the days ahead.

Finally, on the graphics side, AMD is launching a new desktop GPU. The Radeon 7600 XT will have 32 Compute Units, 64 AI Accelerators, 16GB of GDDR6 memory across a 128-bit interface, 32MB of Infinity Cache and a TBP that starts at 190W. The clock speed can boost up to 2.76GHz out of the box. These graphics cards should be available soon with prices starting at $329.

Netflix and Riot impressed us all with the debut of Arcane's first season. The animated series, based on the League of Legends IP, had a critically acclaimed run and now, we have our first look at the long awaited second season.

The first teaser trailer for Arcane Season 2 has now dropped, giving us just a small hint at what's to come with the return of a villain from the first season.

Arcane's first season was praised for its both its animation and writing, with each episode ending up being widely discussed online during the run. It also helps that the show did not require any previous League of Legends knowledge to jump into, so even those who have never really played the game, like myself, could enjoy it from start to finish.

The first season debuted in November 2021, so it has been a pretty long wait for its return. Season 2 will debut on Netflix in November this year, so we've still got a ways to go, but we should get more information and trailers closer to release.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

Last month, we finally got the official unveiling of the next South Park video game. South Park: Snow Day is on the way, offering a 3D take on the mountain town and its many characters. At the time, we learned the game was due to release in March, but now a proper, finalised release date has been put in place.

South Park: Snow Day is a collaborative effort between small California-based studio, Question Games, and THQ Nordic. While previous popular South Park titles were single-player turn-based RPGs, this time around we are getting a co-op shooter of sorts, themed around the kids in South Park enjoying a Snow Day, just as the title suggests.

In keeping with the South Park RPGs, players will be taking on the role of the ‘New Kid' in town, interacting with various established characters from the show. In squads of four, players will traverse through levels using melee and ranged combat abilities to save the town from some imaginary form of destruction. The game will take on more of a fantasy setting, like The Stick of Truth.

The game will be available for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, starting on the 26th of March 2024. The game will be priced at £24.99 for the standard edition, but a more expensive Deluxe and Collectors Edition are also on the way.

Back at Intel Innovation 2023, Intel announced plans to launch its Intel Core Ultra processors in mid December. Based on the Meteor Lake architecture, the first wave of Core Ultra CPUs for laptops have now been officially announced and we have all the details on specs and features.

With Meteor Lake, Intel engineers set out to achieve a number of objectives, chasing higher efficiency, new packaging techniques for the Intel 4 Process node, greater iGPU performance and AI acceleration. The first wave of Intel Core Ultra processors offer up to 6x P-cores and up to 8x E-cores in a single package, utilising 3D Performance Hybrid Architecture with Foveros. Boost clock speeds can reach as high as 5.1GHz, while a dedicated NPU module has been put in place to boost AI workloads.

As we noted back at Intel Innovation, the company has been putting a lot of effort into improving its integrated graphics. Some of the new Core Ultra processors will ship with an Intel Arc iGPU with up to 8 Xe-cores, which as we saw in early demos, can run AAA games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider. In additional benchmarks, Intel claims that the new Arc iGPU for Core Ultra CPUs will be capable of running games like Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Final Fantasy 14, GTA 5, WoW, LoL, Overwatch 2, PUBG, Resident Evil Village, Valorant and others at native 1080p with at least medium quality settings – which is impressive for a 28W chip aimed at ultrathin laptops.

If you go a step further and enable Intel XeSS, you'll get even higher levels of performance thanks to AI upscaling techniques to save on performance. You can see in the slide above from Intel that the gains can be pretty significant in a lot of titles.

Versus the current-gen Ryzen 7 7840U, Intel claims to have leads in both single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads with its new Intel 4 node. In a set of benchmarks, we can see Intel's Core Ultra 7 155H taking the lead in PugetBench for Premiere Pro, PugetBench for Lightroom and UL Procyon Video Editing.

The Intel Core Ultra line-up is divided into two categories, with H-series chips offering higher power and better performance, while U-series chips are geared towards low-power devices, focusing on efficiency over performance gains. You can find the specs for all the currently launching chips in the table below:

Processor Cores/Threads Intel Smart Cache Boost Clock Speeds Integrated Graphics Xe Cores Power (W)
Core Ultra 7 165H 16/22 (6x P-cores/8x E-cores 24MB Up to 5.0GHz Intel Arc 8 28
Core Ultra 7 155H 16/22 (6x P-cores/8x E-cores 24MB Up to 4.8GHz Intel Arc 8 28
Core Ultra 5 135H 14/18 (4x P-cores/8x E-cores) 18MB Up to 4.6GHz Intel Arc 7 28
Core Ultra 5 125H 14/18 (4x P-cores/8x E-cores) 18MB Up to 4.5GHz Intel Arc 7 28
Core Ultra 7 165U 12/14 (2x P-cores/8x E-cores) 12MB Up to 4.9GHz Intel Graphics 4 15
Core Ultra 7 155U 12/14 (2x P-cores/8x E-cores) 12MB Up to 4.8GHz Intel Graphics 4 15
Core Ultra 5 135U 12/14 (2x P-cores/8x E-cores) 12MB Up to 4.4GHz Intel Graphics 4 15
Core Ultra 5 125U 12/14 (2x P-cores/8x E-cores) 12MB Up to 4.3GHz Intel Graphics 4 15

If you are looking at this list and wondering where the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H is – we didn't miss it. That processor will be available in laptops starting in Q1 2024, featuring most of the same specs as the Core Ultra 7 165H, but with a higher 45W TDP and higher boost clock speeds, reaching up to 5.1GHz for the CPU and up to 2.35GHz for the Xe GPU.

The first laptops sporting Intel Core Ultra processors will be available soon from OEMs like Acer, HP, Dell, Google, Gigabyte, LG, MSI, Samsung, Lenovo and Microsoft.
