We're well over a year into the current generation of graphics cards, with the RTX 40 series replacing most of the former RTX 30 series graphics cards on the market. While there is an RTX 4050 GPU for laptops, there is no version of this card for desktop systems. At this rate, we may not see a desktop RTX 4050 at all, as Nvidia is keeping the RTX 3050 alive for 2024.

Nvidia has now launched a new 6GB version of the RTX 3050, coming in at a cheaper price point than the current 8GB model. However, there are some other key differences aside from VRAM capacity. For starters, the memory runs on a narrower 96-bit bus, a step back from the 128-bit bus on the RTX 3050 8GB. This lowers bandwidth to 168 GB/s versus 224 GB/s.

The RTX 3050 6GB also has fewer CUDA cores than the standard RTX 3050 8GB, dropping from 2560 CUDA cores to 2304 cores, clock speeds are also dialled back from a 1777MHz boost speed to 1470MHz. The power limit has also dropped from 130W to 70W, as pointed out by VideoCardz, as the 6GB model does not ship with an additional PCIe power connector.

European retailer, Mindfactory, already has a few RTX 3050 6GB listings live, with prices starting at €185, so we're likely going to see $180/£180 prices in the US and UK.

The rumour mill has been spinning for a while around Nvidia's reportedRTX 3050 6GB. Unlike the RTX 3050 8GB, this new model will have fewer cores, smaller memory sizes and bandwidth, and require less power. As such, it looks like the only similarity between the RTX 3050 released in 2022 and the new model is just the name, as the performance of the 6GB variant looks to be considerably inferior.

According to VideoCardz, the upcoming RTX 3050 6GB graphics card will offer 2304 CUDA cores, which is the same as the OEM version of the RTX 3050 (the standard model has 2,560 CUDA cores). However, it has a 96-bit memory bus instead of the 128-bit bus of the other models. The corresponding reduction in memory bandwidth will drop the maximum memory bandwidth from 224 GB/s to 168 GB/s.

Moreover, the RTX 3050 6GB is expected to arrive with a 70W TDP, significantly lower than the 130W TDP of the original RTX 3050. This power reduction significantly impacts GPU clocks, with the base frequency of the new card set at 1042 MHz, a drop of 510 MHz from its predecessor. The boost clock has also been reduced considerably, but not as much, with the new card clocking in at 1470MHz, though that is still 307Hz lower than the original.

It is also worth noting that some versions of the RTX 30506 GB cards may arrive with passive cooling, which is only achievable due to the reduced power requirements of the card. The release date is expected to be within the next few weeks.

KitGuru says: After the release of the RTX 3060 6 GB variant, buyers interested in an RTX 3050 GPU should be careful about what card they're picking up. If they don't, they might come home with an unpleasant surprise.

Nvidia is reportedly working on a new variant of the RTX 3050. According to users of the Board Channel forum, the 8GB RTX 3050 is eating away sales from the RTX 4060, so a new 6GB RTX 3050 replacement is apparently in the works.

Board channel sources (via VideoCardz), claim the new RTX 3050 model with 6GB of memory is expected to have either a 96-bit or 192-bit memory bus, given the amount of VRAM it will pack. However, most predict that the new model will use the shorter one.

As a reminder, the RTX 3050 was introduced at CES 2022, a year after the first high-end variants in the series were launched. Powered by the GA106 GPU, it features 2,560 CUDA cores and a 128-bit memory bus. The memory runs at 14 Gbps, and the TGP is around 130W.

The RTX 3050 has seen numerous modifications in recent times. Last year, Nvidia launched a new version featuring a GA107 GPU with a lower TDP of 115W. Meanwhile, rumours about a potential GA107-325 variant were mentioned before, suggesting the 6GB model may come alongside a 4GB model. However, those rumours were never confirmed. This new RTX 3050 6GB model is expected to launch in January. As of now, it's unclear if the 3050 8GB will be discontinued.

KitGuru says: Considering the performance difference between the RTX 3050 and the RTX 4060, it's hard to believe that the former affects the latter's sales. However, it seems potential buyers may be giving a fair amount of importance to how much VRAM both cards have.

A new slide has surfaced unveiling Intel’s long-forgotten Arc A580 GPU, accompanied by two custom models. Note, however, that the recently leaked slide suggests that Intel did indeed make some slight adjustments to the specifications, although these changes are relatively minor. Moreover, Nvidia plans to launch a new and slower variant of the RTX 3050 with 6GB memory, stirring things up in the entry-level gaming GPU segment.

The slide that @momomo_us shared comes after Sparkle and ASRock had their A580 models leaked online (via VideoCardz). As per the table on the slide, the A580 features 24 Xe-Cores and has a 185W TBP, which has been increased from 175W from the previously revealed 2022 specs.

The extra 10 watts of power are what Intel considered to be enough to make it compete with the RTX 3050 and AMD Radeon RX 6600. Interestingly, another graphic that displays a roadmap for all Intel Arc products seems to corroborate that just two companies, Sparkle and ASRock, are planning A580 GPUs, so don't expect an army of custom models to choose from.

As for the rumoured new variant of the RTX 3050, it's claimed to be equipped with the GA107-325 GPU, as opposed to the GA106-150 utilised in the 2022 model of this card. The different GPU would result in a boost clock speed of 1470MHz, down from 1777MHz used in the current reference models. The GPU configuration is still unknown.

Furthermore, it is expected that this card will have a 96-bit memory bus rather than the previous 128-bit design, resulting in a drop in memory bandwidth. Lastly, the memory capacity is expected to be reduced from 8GB to 6GB. The new RTX 3050 is expected to be released sometime in 2024.

Originally, the RTX 3050 desktop GPUs were powered by cut-down GA106 chips. A few months later, Nvidia started shipping an exclusive OEM version using GA107 chips with 2,304 CUDA cores. Now, it seems we're getting a third version of the RTX 3050 desktop card powered by a different chip.

Nvidia didn't announce this third version, but looking at the specifications of the recently listed MSI Ventus 2X 8G OCV1 graphics card (via VideoCardz), you can read that it has a power consumption of 115W, 15W less than the standard non-V1 model. even if it's not explicitly listed, this new card should pack the GA107 GPU, the same chip used in the laptop variants.

The lower power consumption confirms nothing, but it suggests this RTX 3050 card doesn't use the same chip as the non-V1 model. Despite using a different chip that consumes less power, the remaining specifications are the same, meaning it packs 2,560 CUDA cores with a boost clock speed of 1,807MHz and 8GB of memory clocked at 14Gbps across a 128-bit memory bus.

Currently, MSI is the only AIB partner that has listed RTX 3050 cards with 115W of power consumption.

KitGuru says: Considering all the specs remain unchanged, the performance of the 115W model should be the same as the 130W version. However, the overclocking potential in the less power-hungry models should be lower. On the other hand, overall efficiency in the 115W model is likely better.

It seems Nvidia is giving a different RTX 3050 GPU with fewer CUDA cores to OEMs. The specifications of the new RTX 3050 variant were made public through Nvidia's official website, allowing us to see the differences between both the standard and OEM variants.

Weibo user Golden Pig Upgrade Pack shared a photo of what seems to be the OEM version of the RTX 3050 graphic card. According to the uploader, this version of the GPU only features 2,304 CUDA cores, a considerable cut from the 2,560 CUDA cores of the reference model. As per the photo, the RTX 3050 for OEMs is powered by an 8-pin power connector and features a dual-fan cooling design. The PCB looks similar to the one used in the reference model.

As it seems, this card is relatively new. Nvidia has recently updated the spec summary of the RTX 3050, adding the 2,304 CUDA cores variant. According to the spec sheet, this GPU also comes with slightly lower clock speeds, as the GPU has a 1.51GHz base clock and a 1.76 GHz boost clock. TDP (130W) and memory configuration (8GB GDDR6 at 14Gbps on a 128-bit memory bus) remain unchanged.

We don't know what GPU revision is being used on the RTX 3050 OEM, but VideoCardz estimates that it may be the GA107-140 revision, which we heard about earlier this year.

KitGuru says: Considering it features fewer CUDA cores and lower clock speeds, this version of the RTX 3050 should also draw less power than the standard model. Unfortunately, Nvidia's spec sheet shows that's not the case.

In Intel’s benchmarks, the Intel GPUs come out ahead by a decent amount, but it is worth noting that the Nvidia RTX-powered systems were using slower memory and less powerful processors. The TGP for the Intel GPUs is also unknown. With that in mind, we expect independent benchmarks to find the actual performance difference to be lesser.

Intel's A730M laptop GPU should begin appearing in consumer laptops soon. Some units have begun going out to testers recently, resulting in new benchmark leaks. Unfortunately, the scores indicate that this particular offering may not match up well against the RTX 3060.

If Intel's targets for the Arc flagship GPUs (laptop or desktop) were to offer RTX 3070-like performance, the model below would have to rival the RTX 3060 at least. However, the early A730M results leaked this week show underwhelming performance. Crossing the gaming results with the data from the Notebookcheck database, Intel's new GPU is far from offering the same level of performance as the Nvidia chip.

Weibo user Golden Pig Upgrade (via @9550pro) was responsible for sharing these results. The system used for the benchmarks was running Windows 10 Home Premium and using an Intel Core i7-12700H chip.

In 3DMark Time Spy, the Intel Arc A730M laptop GPU scored 10107 points, which puts it between the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3070 Ti laptop GPUs. If this level of performance were translated into actual games, Intel's GPU would be very promising, but that's not the case.

In Metro Exodus, the Intel GPU can't beat the RTX 3060 laptop GPU, reaching an average framerate of 70FPS at 1080p with the High preset and 55FPS at 1440p using the same preset. On games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and F1 2020 the A730M is shown performing similarly to an RTX 3050.

Up to now, most TUF Gaming graphics cards from Asus have used a triple-fan design, but this can be overkill for lower TDP GPUs like the RTX 3050. With that in mind, the new RTX 3050 TUF Gaming has been redesigned with a dual-fan cooler.

Asus will be releasing two variants (OC and standard), both factory overclocked. However, as the name implies, the OC variant will come at a higher clock speed, with a listed boost clock of 1875MHz. Moreover, both cards feature dual-BIOS, allowing users to choose between a ‘Quiet' and a ‘Gaming' mode.

The shroud features the same aesthetics as the latest TUF Gaming cards, with a black and military look. On the side, there's an Asus Aura Sync RGB strip that users can freely customise to their liking. The two-fan cooling solution and the backplate are responsible for cooling the 2.8-inch tall heatsink, which should be enough to competently handle the RTX 3050 GPU.

The I/O bracket features 2x HDMI 2.1 interfaces and 3x DisplayPorts 1.4, allowing users to easily connect multiple monitors to it. A release date for the Asus TUF Gaming cards hasn't been announced yet, but they should arrive at retailers soon.

Featuring 3840 CUDA cores, the GA106 GPU is usually seen on the RTX 3060 cards. For the RTX 3050, a third of the GPU's CUDA cores are disabled, as are eight of the 16x PCIe 4.0 lanes of the GPU.

Logically speaking, the GA107 GPU with 2560 CUDA cores was the perfect fit for the RTX 3050 desktop variant, and according to Igors' Lab, Nvidia has now decided to use it on its entry-level graphics cards.

Now that the chip shortage is starting to ease up, Nvidia has apparently adjusted production and will begin using GA107 dies on RTX 3050 cards. The GA106 and GA107 GPUs are pin-compatible, so board partners should be fine using the same design. They'll probably just have to use a new BIOS for the GA107-powered cards.

The GA107 GPU is rated for a maximum TBP of 115W, 15W less than the GA106 GPU. Therefore, assuming both graphics card variants deliver the same performance, we can expect additional efficiency from the ones running the GA107 GPU.

KitGuru says: If Nvidia releases a second variant of the RTX 3050, we should hopefully see improved supply, as the GA106 no longer needs to be split amongst RTX 3060 and RTX 3050 SKUs.

Following on from our launch-day RTX 3050 review, today we are supplementing that initial coverage with a look at two more custom cards. The first comes from Inno3D in the form of the RTX 3050 Twin X2 OC, while we also have MSI's RTX 3050 Gaming X to test. We find out how they perform, while also comparing the cards to Gigabyte's Eagle and Palit's StormX OC models.

We have two more AIB RTX 3050 cards to review today. The Inno3D RTX 3050 Twin X2 OC is, as the name suggests, a dual-fan model that ships with a 45MHz factory overclock. It also sports a metal backplate and grey shroud, though there is no RGB lighting.

Alongside that, we also assess the MSI RTX 3050 Gaming X. This is MSI's flagship RTX 3050 offering, with an eye-watering £369.99 MSRP. For that money we get a 67MHz factory overclock, metal backplate and a single RGB zone. As we will see, MSI has also beefed-up the VRM slightly compared to the other RTX 3050s we have reviewed so far.

As a cut-down GA106 GPU, the RTX 3050 sports a total of 20 streaming multiprocessors (SMs).Thanks to Ampere’s new SM structure with its two FP32 datapaths, each SM houses 128 CUDA cores, giving a total of 2560.

Ampere also places one RT core, and four Tensor cores, in each SM, giving a total of 20 RT cores and180 Tensor cores. This is accompanied by 80 texture units, and 32 ROPs which are now housed directly within each graphics processing cluster (GPC), with 16 ROPs per GPC, and 2 GPCs in total for RTX 3050.

Rated clock speed is carried over from the RTX 3060, as we find the same 1777MHz boost clock. Of the two cards we are looking at today, both are factory overclocked, with the Inno3D shipping with a 1822MHz boost clock, while the MSI has a 1845MHz boost clock.

Memory is provided by 8GB of GDDR6, clocked at 14Gbps. Over the narrower 128-bit memory interface, we see total memory bandwidth hit 224 GB/s, a reduction of 38% against the RTX 3060. The PCIe interface has also been shaved down, with a PCIe 4.0 x8 connection, instead of the full x16 allocation.

Lastly, for total graphics power, Nvidia rates the RTX 3050 for 130W, a 40W (24%) decrease compared to the RTX 3060 that seems broadly in line with the reduction in core-count.

The post Nvidia RTX 3050 Review ft. Gigabyte and Palit first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Just a week on from the disastrous launch of AMD's RX 6500 XT, today we are checking out something I sincerely hope will be… better. It's admittedly a low bar to clear, but I am of course talking about Nvidia's RTX 3050 – the company's first RTX GPU in the sub-£300 price bracket, arriving with a $249/£239 MSRP.

Officially unveiled back at CES 2022, the RTX 3050 is an important milestone for Nvidia. When it first debuted RTX technology with the 20-series, the most affordable GPU was the RTX 2060, priced at a not-inconsiderable £329. For the RTX 3050, the MSRP is set at £239, and while we know that figure is almost certainly somewhat detached from reality, it's still going to be interesting to see exactly what an ‘entry level' RTX graphics card looks like in 2022.

Unlike on the mobile side, where Nvidia has a dedicated GA107 GPU for RTX 3050/3050 Ti mobile chips, for the RTX 3050 the company is re-using its GA106 GPU, making it – in essence – a cut-down RTX 3060. Is it enough to stand out from 12 months of mediocre product launches? We're about to find out…

With Nvidia releasing the RTX 3050 graphics card later this week, it was only expected that we would soon see the first 3DMark results being leaked. In our first look at performance, the RTX 3050 is drawing comparisons to the GTX 1660 Ti.

The benchmark scores were shared by VideoCardz, who got multiple screenshots of the results as proof. Besides performing roughly the same as the GTX 1660 Ti, we can also compare it against its AMD counterpart, the Radeon RX 6500XT.

Based on the scores we obtained in our Radeon RX 6500XT review, Nvidia's upcoming RTX card is 24% faster in the TimeSpy benchmark but only 3% in FireStrike.

Meanwhile, compared to the RTX 3060, there is a much bigger difference in performance. In Firestrike, the RTX 3060 is over 30% faster than the entry-level RTX card, but things get even worse in the TimeSpy benchmarks, increasing the difference in performance to almost 50%. That isn't that surprising when we consider the RTX 3060 comes with 40% more CUDA cores and 60% more memory bandwidth than the RTX 3050.

Nvidia is releasing the RTX 3050 graphics cards on January 27th with an MSRP of $250/£239.

KitGuru says: Based on these scores alone, what do you think of RTX 3050's performance? Will it be the new go-to “budget card”?

A new rumour has surfaced claiming that Nvidia is set to ‘strengthen' supply for its upcoming RTX 3050 graphics card. Announced back at CES 2022, the RTX 3050 has a starting price of $249, making it the most affordable Ampere GPU yet – and if this rumour turns out to be true, there may just be half a chance to get one of these cards at MSRP.

First posted on Board Channels (via VideoCardz), the rumour claims Nvidia is set to ‘strengthen' the ‘first shipments' of its RTX 3050 graphics cards, to the point where supply is expected to be greater than both the RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti at launch. The post also suggests due to Chinese New Year (Spring Festival), some orders will be delayed, with cards meant to hit retail on January 27th.

We reached out to Nvidia for comment on this story but, at the time of publication, did not hear back. We will update this article if we get a response.

The RTX 3050 is set to launch on January 27th, with pricing starting at $249. For a more detailed breakdown of the specifications, see our product announcement article HERE.

For a few months now, we've been hearing rumours that the RTX 3050 will eventually make its way to desktop. Now today at CES 2022, Nvidia has made it official, announcing the RTX 3050 desktop graphics card, providing a new entry point for the RTX 30 series.

The RTX 3050 is the new entry-level GPU based on the Ampere architecture, packing 2nd Gen RT Cores for ray-tracing and 3rd Gen Tensor cores for DLSS – for VRAM, you get 8GB of GDDR6 memory.

Board partners already have this GPU in hand and are preparing custom-cooled solutions for launch on the 27th of January. One of those board partners is none other than PNY, with an XLR8 Gaming RTX 3050 REVEL graphics card on the way for launch.

This graphics card will feature a dual-fan cooler, although a single-fan cooled option will also be available. The XLR8 Gaming model also comes with Epic-X RGB lighting.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 graphics cards will be available starting on the 27th of January, with prices starting at $249.

KitGuru Says: What do you all think of the new RTX 3050? Will you consider buying one assuming pricing and availability don't go straight out the window?

We've been hearing rumours about the RTX 3050 desktop graphics card for a little while now, although most have focused on a variant with 4GB of VRAM. As it turns out, Nvidia may have a second version of this card planned with 8GB of memory and more CUDA cores.

According to Twitter leaker, @kopite7kimi, this GPU was supposed to feature a variant of the GA107 GPU, the same die as the laptop models. However, this was apparently later changed to the GA106, the same die as the RTX 3060.

Now, the story has changed slightly again, with the leaker claiming that the RTX 3050 4GB graphics card will use a GA106-140 GPU with 2304 CUDA cores. Then, there will be a higher-end 8GB version using the GA106-150 GPU with 2560 CUDA cores, as well as 20 RT cores and 80 Tensor Cores.

For now, Nvidia has not officially announced the RTX 3050 for desktop. However, Nvidia will be making a number of announcements at CES in January, so we may get a proper announcement then.

KitGuru says: It's strange to see Nvidia using the GA106 GPU in these SKUs, considering the GA107 GPU has 2560 CUDA cores and a 128-bit memory bus already. Perhaps the decision could be down to yield rates, but we won't know for sure unless Nvidia confirms one way or the other.

In recent months, there have been a ton of rumours around Nvidia's plans for early 2022, with sources claiming that we'll see several new RTX 30 series graphics cards. Now, we seem to have release dates for three of them, with the RTX 3050, RTX 3070 Ti 16GB, RTX 3090 Ti supposedly coming in January.

According to VideoCardz, the RTX 3070 Ti 16GB will be announced on December 17th and released on January 11th. It is also claimed that we'll see the RTX 3090 Ti made available on the 27th of January. In a separate report, it is claimed that the desktop version of the RTX 3050 will be announced at CES on the 4th of January, with availability planned for the 27th of January.

Oddly enough, there is no mention of the rumoured 12GB RTX 3080, which we had assumed would be coming at the same time as the 16GB version of the RTX 3070 Ti. A 12GB version of the RTX 3080 has been rumoured for quite some time and most recently appeared in the EEC database, following new filings from Gigabyte.

Aside from Nvidia's own GPU launches, we also expect to see new graphics and CPU announcements from AMD and Intel during CES 2022.

KitGuru says: Will you still be trying to get hold of an RTX 30 series GPU in 2022, or are you going to wait for next-gen cards at this point?

The first quarter of 2022 is building up to be quite interesting for gamers on a tighter budget. Besides the new entry-level Radeon graphics cards, Nvidia is also reportedly launching the RTX 3050 for desktop during this same period, more specifically on January 27th.

That's according to @hongxing2020, a new leaker that has been sharing rumours about Nvidia's GPUs, including the release date of the RTX 2060 12GB. There is no mention of an RTX 3050 Ti for desktop and with the RTX 2060 12GB launching, we don’t expect to see one any time soon.

According to previous reports, the RTX 3050 was initially planned to launch with the GA107 GPU, the same chip used for its laptop variant. However, somewhere along the way the plan changed and the RTX 3050 for desktop will now reportedly use the GA106 GPU, with 3072 CUDA cores enabled and 8GB of GDDR6 across a 128-bit memory bus.

Besides the RTX 3050, during Q1 2022, AMD should also release the Radeon RX 6500 XT and the RX 6400. Intel will also be launching its first Arc Alchemist GPUs in the first half of 2022.

KitGuru says: Are you planning on building or buying an entry-level system? Will you be looking to go with Nvidia,  AMD or Intel?

We've seen an increasing number of leaks and rumours around the entry-level desktop graphics card market recently. At this point, AMD has the RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 lined up, while Intel has its upcoming Arc Alchemist 128EU GPU, and Nvidia appears to be preparing a desktop version of the RTX 3050.

As reported by GPU leaker, @kopite7kimi, Nvidia is preparing the RTX 3050, which will feature a GA106-150-Kx-A1 GPU with 3072 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 memory. Based on the RTX 3050 specifications and lack of room between this GPU and the RTX 2060 12GB, it is possible that the RTX 3050 Ti does not make its way to desktops.

Leaker @TUM_APISAK also had some news to share on Intel's entry-level graphics card. Named Intel Arc A380, it will feature the DG2 GPU with 128EUs, which will be able to clock up to 2.45GHz. This GPU is expected to be paired with 6GB of GDDR6 memory on a 96-bit memory bus. This GPU is expected to offer similar performance to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super. However, it is unclear if the Arc A380 is a desktop or laptop GPU at this time.

These entry-level graphics cards from AMD, Intel and Nvidia are all expected to launch in the first half of 2022.

KitGuru says: The first half of 2022 is building up to be quite exciting for those looking to build an entry-level system. With new entry-level GPUs, Intel non-K processors, and Ryzen's refresh coming during this period, there should be plenty of choice available for those building a budget PC.

We've been hearing that Nvidia has new RTX 30 series GPUs planned for early 2022 for quite some time. To date, the RTX 3060 remains the entry point to the RTX 30 series on desktop, with the RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti only releasing for laptops. That could change soon though, as sources claim we'll see a desktop RTX 3050 in the first half of next year, and it should be faster than the GTX 1660 Super.

As reported by VideoCardz, the RTX 3050 is referred to as PG190 SKU 70 and will be powered by the GA106-150 GPU, possibly with 3072 CUDA cores. The memory subsystem will reportedly feature 8GB of GDDR6 memory, most likely on a 128-bit memory bus.

The Nvidia RTX 3050 is said to be faster than the GTX 1660 Super but slower than the RTX 2060 12GB card. Based on these claims, this card should rival the likes of the AMD's upcoming RX 6500 XT and Intel's upcoming Arc Alchemist 128EU GPU.

The RTX 3050 may not be the only new desktop GPU from Nvidia in 2022, as previous rumours have also suggested we'll see refreshes of the RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 with more memory, as well as an RTX 3090 Ti

KitGuru says: It looks like GPU makers are finally giving the entry-level market some much needed attention. This is all rumour for now though, so take this information with a grain of salt.

The RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti have been around for a while, but only in laptop GPU form. Rumours of a desktop release largely died down this year, but new reports this week indicate that both GPUs may still come to desktop with updated specifications.

In November 2020, @kopite7kimi shared the first rumoured specifications of the RTX 3050 Ti, which he claimed to feature a GA106 GPU with 3,584 CUDA cores. However, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, as the leaker now claims the RTX 3050 Ti will come with 3,072 CUDA cores. Moreover, he added this SKU will come with the GA106-150-A1 GPU and 6/12GB of GDDR6 memory.

As for the RTX 3050, it was first claimed that this SKU would be powered by a GA107-300 GPU with 2,304 CUDA cores enabled, featuring a 90W TGP, but that has changed as well. According to the updated specifications, the upcoming graphics card will pack a GA107-350-A1 GPU and come with a higher TGP. This SKU should come with a 4/8GB memory configuration.

Considering the “A1” naming in the GPUs of the RTX 3050 series SKUs, it seems likely that these graphics cards will use Nvidia's anti-mining technology, which has been implemented in most RTX 30 series graphics cards at this point.

MSI has introduced its new Summit E Flip series of business laptops. Featuring Tiger Lake-U processors and up to an RTX 3050 laptop GPU, the series consists of two thin convertible laptops: the E13 Flip Evo and the E16 Flip.

The MSI Summit E13 Flip Evo is a compact laptop featuring an “IPS-level” 13-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. As the name suggests, this laptop is certified by the Intel Evo program for enhanced compatibility with the Intel platform. The 16-inch version isn't Evo certified, but it does come with “next gen Nvidia GeForce RTX series graphics”, which presumably means the RTX 3050.

Both MSI Summit laptops will feature up to 11th Gen Core i7 Tiger Lake-U CPUs and Intel Xe integrated graphics. Moreover, these laptops will also support Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, USB-C 4.0, and Thunderbolt 4.

The Summit E Flip laptops come with an aluminium chassis and a 360º hinge to convert them into a tablet. Adding that to the 16:10 aspect ratio of the screens makes them a versatile device to work with. To further enhance the tablet experience, these laptops support the MSI Pen.

With up to 20 hours of battery life, these laptops may handle a full workday without charging them. When you do need to juice it up, fast-charging is supported, providing 2.5 hours of battery life in 15 minutes.

According to Asus and Acer laptop listings, Nvidia might be getting ready to launch two new GPUs for laptops. The listings show that there will be an RTX 3050 and an RTX 3050Ti GPU option for some Asus and Acer laptops, while also giving some details of these unannounced GPUs.

As spotted by @momomo_us on the Asus TUF Dash 15 specifications page, this laptop will be available with the RTX 3050Ti. Previously, in place of the RTX 3050Ti, there was the codename “GN20-P0”, but Asus has now changed the GPU to its commercial name.

There's also a video showing the TUF Dash 15 specifications including both the GN20-P0 and GN20-P1 GPUs, which means that this laptop may also be available with the RTX 3050 as an option. As per the specifications shown in the video, both cards will come with 4GB of VRAM, therefore they should be using a 128-bit memory bus.

Acer also mentioned that the Nitro 5 laptop (AN517-41-R5Z7) will have two models with two unannounced GPUs. Acer's listing states the TGP of these GPUs is set at 60W, but considering how Nvidia's laptop GPUs work, so this is likely referring to the RTX 3050/Ti .

A new rumour detailing specifications of the RTX 3050 has emerged. The entry-level RTX 30 series card is a step below the rest but if leaks prove accurate, it should pack a decent performance increase over the GTX 1650.

Although it hasn't been announced yet, the RTX 3050 is expected to be the worst performer of the RTX 30 series, but the price will hopefully be the lowest too. If the Nvidia RTX 3050 releases, we will see the company introducing ray tracing hardware and tensor cores in its entry-level graphics cards for the first time. Although ray tracing in weaker cards might not look much beneficial, tensor cores would be a welcome addition, allowing users to take advantage of DLSS.

As per the post made by @kopite7kimi, the RTX 3050 will use the GA107 GPU (GA107-300), and feature 2304 CUDA cores on a 90W TGP. Compared to its equivalents in today's market, the GTX 1650 and GTX 1650 Super have significantly fewer CUDA cores, with the GTX 1650 featuring only 896 and the Super variant featuring 1280.

The memory configuration wasn't shared, but the new graphics card should feature about 4GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus, similar to the GTX 1650 (G6) and 1650 Super.

There is no official announcement or release date at this time but the RTX 3050 is expected to arrive in early 2021.
