Due to GPU shortages and inflated prices, Nvidia chose not to discontinue its RTX 30 series GPUs once new RTX 40 series models arrived. That may change with the RTX 4060 Ti, which will reportedly replace the RTX 3060 Ti entirely.

Discussions at the Chinese board channels forum (via Benchlife and Tom's Hardware) have speculated that Nvidia may have ceased supplying RTX 3060 Ti silicon to its AIB partners. While it remains uncertain if this signifies the complete end of the older card, NVIDIA appears to be prioritising new products. This strategic move would align with introducing much newer Ada-based midrange GPUs.

In mid-April, Nvidia's component suppliers had indicated that production of the RTX 4000-series GPUs was not scaling up due to a possible slow uptake of existing cards, particularly the recently released RTX 4070. Despite this, given the immense popularity of budget graphics card models, Nvidia seems poised to re-engage with the mainstream market segment.

As far as rumours suggest, the RTX 4060 Ti will be available with 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 18Gbps across a 128-bit memory bus. Both should pack 4,352 CUDA cores and have a TDP of 160W (8GB) or 165W (16GB). The standard RTX 4060 is rumoured to have 3,072 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit memory bus.

Rumours suggest Nvidia will announce the RTX 4060 Ti this month, although it is unclear if the standard RTX 4060 will also be announced at the same time.

KitGuru says: The RTX 30 series is slowly being phased out as Nvidia looks to boost the adoption of its latest generation GPUs. Typically, we would see this happen at a quicker rate, but given the issues with the market in recent years, the transition has been slower this generation.

We've known about Nvidia's GDDR6X RTX 3060 Ti for a while now, but due to limited availability, the latest revision has not seen much public testing. That is starting to change, with one new review arriving, revealing a small performance bump over the original RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6 memory.

The team over at ITHardware (via VideoCardz) was able to test a KFA2 GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X 1-Click OC Plus, which allowed it to compare against an Asus GeForce RTX 3060 Ti TUF Gaming (based on the standard model), as well as other cards, including RTX 30 and Radeon RX 6000 series cards. As a reminder, both the GDDR6 and GDDR6X versions of the RTX 3060 Ti have the same specs, except the memory (14Gbps vs 19Gbps). In this case, however, both cards are factory-overclocked, with the Asus card having higher clock speeds (1755MHz) than the KFA2 card (1665MHz).

Despite the higher clock speed, the KFA2 is still faster than the Asus card, most likely due to the GDDR6X it uses. The difference may only be a mere 2%, but pushing the KFA2 to the same clock speeds as the Asus TUF Gaming card would get us something closer to 5%. Still, considering it consumes 225W of power (+25W than the GDDR6 model and +5W than the RTX 3070), these new cards don't seem particularly efficient.

Although you can't increase the GPU's core voltage, the reviewer still tried to overclock the GPU. After some trial and error, it was possible to stabilise the card at 1815MHZ (+150MHz), with the memory being pushed to 20.2Gbps (+1200MHz). Overall, performance improved by about 5%.

KitGuru says: The RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X may not bring the performance improvement some were expecting. Still, considering it's supposed to cost the same as the GDDR6 models, at least you're guaranteed to get a bit more for your money.

When Nvidia announced the GDDR6X variant of the RTX 3060 Ti, it wasn't clear whether the company would keep the original GDDR6 version around. According to reports this week, this will eventually happen, with GDDR6 versions being phased out and replaced with the newer model.

As reported by MyDrivers (via VideoCardz), this process won't happen overnight. Instead, Nvidia and AIB partners will slowly replace the older model by consuming the existing GDDR6 inventory until it's depleted. Once all the GDDR6 inventory has been used up, manufacturing will switch over to only producing GDDR6X RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards.

The good thing about replacing the older version with the new one is that you get a better graphics card for the same price. While the older version uses GDDR6 memory clocked at 14Gbps, the GDDR6X model runs at 19Gbps.

Given the number of RTX 30 GPUs still floating around, it could take a little longer to see new-gen replacements. For now, the RTX 40 series has two graphics cards, an RTX 4080 and an RTX 4090. Nvidia may hold off on future cards, like the RTX 4070 or RTX 4060 as it continues to try and shift the remaining stock of RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 GPUs.

Just recently, Asus launched new RTX 3060 Dual models with GDDR6X memory in an all-black design. Now, these graphics cards will also be available in white.

With the release of the new RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X memory and the 8GB version of the RTX 3060, Asus has decided to refresh the looks of its cards with some new models. First, it redesigned the Dual card aesthetics with a new RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X card. Now, it's launching white-coloured options for the latest Dual designs.

The RTX 3060 Ti Dual White non-OC version has a +15MHz overclock over reference values in OC mode. If you want something more than that, the OC version comes with a +30MHz boost over reference. As for the standard RTX 3060 Dual white, it runs at +30MHz over reference. The OC version pushes slightly above that with +90MHz.

Like the black version, the RTX 3060 Ti Dual white is powered by two 8-pin power connectors. On the other hand, the RTX 3060 Dual White card comes with a single 8-pin connector. Pricing and availability are yet to be revealed.

We've been hearing for a while now that new versions of RTX 30 series GPUs are on the way with upgraded GDDR6X memory. We've already seen a list of these GPUs from Gigabyte, and now, Asus has begun listing upgraded RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards as well.

For now, Asus seems to be the only AIB partner to have listed an RTX 3060 Ti with GDDDR6X memory on its official website. Asus has a TUF Gaming version planned, with a stock and an ‘OC' edition.

According to the spec sheet, the GDDR6X memory of these cards runs at 19Gbps, increasing the memory bandwidth by 160GB/s over the GDDR6 variant (608GB/s vs 448GB/s). The GPU specifications remained unaltered, featuring a GA104-202 GPU with 4864 CUDA cores enabled. The standard TUF Gaming card boosts the clock speed to 1665MHz (OC mode: 1695MHz), while the OC edition goes up to 1755MHz (OC mode: 1785MHz). Aesthetics-wise, they look indistinguishable from the GDDR6 models.

If Asus has already listed new RTX 3060 Ti cards, it should only be a matter of time before other AIB partners like MSI, Gigabyte, and Zotac do the same.

We've been hearing rumours for a while now claiming that Nvidia is going to refresh its RTX 30 series line-up with new GDDR6X models. We weren't expecting to see much of a performance boost here, but the first benchmark leaks have come in, revealing a performance boost of up to 10 percent.

The RTX 40 series has arrived, starting off with the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080. However, Nvidia still has plenty of RTX 30 series GPUs left over from the previous generation, so expect to see cards like the RTX 3060 Ti sticking around for a bit longer. According to VideoCardz, a revised version of the RTX 3060 Ti is indeed coming, featuring GDDR6X memory clocked at 19Gbps. The GPU will be based on the same GA104-202 GPU as the standard model and clock speeds appear to be the same, so any performance uplift should primarily be coming directly from the faster memory.

The leak shows 3DMark test results of the revised RTX 3060 Ti. In Fire Strike, the RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X scored 31,5xx points (graphics score), and 12,5xx points (graphics score) in Time Spy. Compared to the GDDR6 variant, that's a 10% and a 7% increase, respectively. Compared to the current GPU offering, that puts it right between the RTX 3060Ti GDDR6 and the RTX 3070. The new memory also allowed the GPU to score higher than the Arc A750 in Fire Strike and match the mid-range Intel GPU in Time Spy.

It is claimed that the GDDR6X variant of the RTX 3060 Ti should release in the next few weeks. Initially, it was expected to release by the end of October, but with the cancellation of the RTX 4080 12GB SKU, Nvidia might move the launch to sometime in November. At the moment, it's unclear if the RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X will replace the original model.

With no sight of any mid-range RTX 40 series card, it seems the GPU manufacturer will revamp its current-gen RTX 3060 series with GDDR6X memory, matching a rumour we've previously reported. According to the rumoured spec sheet, everything else remains untouched.

The first graphics card to be spotted with GDDR6X memory was the RTX 3060 Ti on Scan UK (via VideoCardz). The memory type was only listed as GDDR6X after you added it to the basket, but it seems the retailer has since corrected the memory type. However, due to the recent rumour, it seems this may have been more than a typo. On another note, the RTX 3060 Ti FE costing £369 makes it one of the cheapest models in the UK.

Besides the RTX 3060 Ti, @momomo_us has also found what looks to be an RTX 3060 graphics card from Lenovo using 12GB of GDDR6X memory clocked at 19Gbps at a Slovakian retailer. Besides the memory, every other specification seems to be the same as the standard graphics card.

Seeing the RTX 3060 series getting GDDR6X memory left us wondering if the same would happen to the RTX 3070. However, considering how similar the RTX 3070 is to the RTX 3070 Ti, we wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia skipped the memory upgrade on that one.

KitGuru says: Updating the memory type to a more recent one while maintaining prices means customers pay the same for a slight performance increase while Nvidia clears up its stock of Ampere GPUs. However, this may mean a small delay in new mid-range GPUs and new-gen price drops.

It may seem weird for Nvidia to release new RTX 30 series graphics cards when we're a few weeks away from the debut of the RTX 40 series. However, that seems to be the case, as two different sources claim the company will launch new versions of the RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti, and RTX 3070 Ti cards in October.

As reported by MEGAsizeGPU and VideoCardz, Nvidia will be launching an 8GB version of the RTX 3060 using a GA106 GPU. Although the memory speed will remain at 15Gbps, the memory bus will be different, using a 128-bit one instead. That change will result in a reduction of the maximum memory bandwidth to 240GB/s.

Unlike the RTX 3060, the new RTX 3060 Ti will be an upgrade over the original, as rumours claim it will feature 8GB of GDDR6X. Memory speed is unknown, but don't expect anything below 19Gbps. Regardless, maximum memory bandwidth will improve due to faster memory. Everything else should remain unchanged. Lastly, we have a new RTX 3070 Ti model using the GA102 GPU, the same as the one used on the RTX 3080 and 3090 series cards.

The three new SKUs should be available by the end of October, likely after the first RTX 40 series cards are released.

This review is a doubleheader for me, It’s my first pre-built system review for a while and also my first look at 12th Gen Intel parts, so I can’t wait to get stuck in and see just how well these new CPUs perform. Let’s face it, AMD has been stealing the show lately and it’s about time that we started to see an Intel fight back, because strong competition can only be good news for the consumer.

The system in question is the PCSpecialist Titan Supreme, and with fairly mid-range specs we reckon that it could be targeted at converting console gamers to the PC. This might be a smart move by system integrators as getting your hands on a next-gen console is about as difficult as buying an RTX 3080 from an actual retail store, so perhaps console gamers are looking at alternative options? Either way, the spec looks solid for at least high frame rate 1080p and 1440p gaming.

When Intel launched 12th Gen Core desktop CPUs, the introduction of DDR5 memory came alongside. However, Intel made enthusiast-grade Z690 motherboards available in configurations with both DDR5 and DDR4. The PCSpecialist Titan Supreme comes with the latter which again could be a smart move as it keeps costs down while still being perfectly adequate for running current games with solid performance, just a few FPS down on DDR5 in most games on average.

Paired with the Z690 platform and DDR4 is a brand spanking new Intel Core i5-12600KF CPU in the Titan Supreme. This seems like a great choice as the 12600K is currently the best bang for your buck in terms of gaming performance and was the CPU the got the highest praise from Leo during his launch reviews of 12th Gen, so I’m happy to see it has been chosen for this system.

PCSpecialist has also included a 1TB Seagate Firecuda 520 NVME M.2 SSD and a 2TB Seagate Barracuda mechanical HDD for additional storage space – so a total of 3TB sounds healthy by today’s standards. It's also good to see that a proper 80+ Gold rated 750W power supply from the Corsair RMx series has been used in the build as well as a 240mm AIO CPU cooler which should keep CPU temperature under control during heavy load.

So far so good in terms of hardware specification, it's shaping up to be a solid choice but what about the graphics card? Well, we have an Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti which isn’t the most powerful GPU on the market, however it should produce solid FPS at 1080p and 1440p but 4K gaming will not be optimal for this card in new AAA titles at least.

The system is housed in a Cooler Master MasterBox TD500 Mesh chassis which is a mid-range case that retails for around £100. It’s not a bad case, though we'd argue there are slightly better options out there as there are some limitations with the case such as AIO placement, but the ultra-fine mesh front panel means airflow is good and there's no need for an additional front dust filter, so maintenance should be simple.

Another new feature of the PCSpecialist Titan Supreme is the operating system. Windows 11 comes pre-installed on the system, I am yet to decide if this is a good or bad thing in terms of gaming performance (we will find out later during testing). However, system integrators love to offer the latest and greatest features as it makes the product look cutting edge.

While there has been evidence to suggest that graphics card stock and pricing has improved in recent months, it looks like we're heading towards another dip in availability. According to reports this week, supply of RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards will decrease in September.

According to ITHome (via VideoCardz), shipments of RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3060 graphics cards will reduce by around 50 percent in September. With this reduction, finding one of these GPUs in late September and early October should be harder. However, supply will increase again in October in an effort to prepare retailers for holiday season sales.

The information comes from the private forum Board Channels forums, where AIBs, AICs, and OEMs discuss the current market situation. Besides this source, others have also claimed that the RTX 3060 series won't be the only one with reduced shipments.

As it seems, some factories are partially closed or not working at full power due to new COVID-19 outbreaks in some areas of China. This is affecting the manufacturing of not just the RTX 3060 series cards, but also of other RTX 30 series cards, as well as Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs.

KitGuru says: Are you still looking for an RTX 30/Radeon RX 6000 series card at MSRP, or have you decided to wait for next-gen GPUs instead?

It looks like Galax won't only release RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 cards with the crypto mining limiter. Recently, the company added RTX 3060 and the RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards with the ‘FG' naming to their website, which means they have their Ethereum mining performance halved.

From what we've gathered, the Galax ‘FG' cards will feature Nvidia GPUs with the new crypto mining limiter (LHR). Galax's new RTX 3060 Ti FG models come with the GA104-202 GPU, which has a crypto mining performance of about 25MH/s. The new RTX 3060 cards are equipped with the GA106-302 chip capable of mining Ethereum at 25 MH/s.

Like the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 cards, there's no other difference besides the crypto mining performance. The operating frequencies, memory, cooling system, and design, all look to be the same.

Galax is the only AiB partner that has added the new cards to their website, but other companies should soon follow. As per VideoCardz, it seems that MSI is one of them, given the recent addition of the graphics cards models to EEC's database. The new cards with ‘PLUS' in their name might be the new ones with anti-mining tech, but there are also a few Radeon cards listed with the ‘PLUS' moniker. These Radeon cards, unlike Nvidia ones, shouldn't feature the mining limiter.

KitGuru says: Are you still hoping to get a new graphics card at MSRP? Do you believe the introduction of anti-mining tech will improve the GPU stock?

The post eGPU Scaling Benchmark w/ Cooler Master EG200 first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
External GPU enclosures have been around for a few years now, most of them using Thunderbolt 3 which provides four PCIe 3.0 lanes. We've tested a few solutions over the years, including Razer's Core X and the Sapphire GearBox, but today we're taking a closer look at just how well an eGPU can perform. To do so, we test Nvidia's RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, RTX 3080 and even the RTX 3090, across 1080p, 1440p and 4K resolutions. Is there any benefit to using a faster GPU over Thunderbolt 3? That's what we will find out today.

For this investigation, we're using Cooler Master's new EG200 external GPU enclosure. It's the company's first eGPU product and has an MSRP of £329.99, though it is not currently listed for sale in the UK. As a standard Thunderbolt 3 enclosure, you are free to use pretty much any graphics card you want, though there is a size restriction as cards cannot be bigger than 325 x 141 x 54 mm.

We're testing with the ASUS TUF RTX 3080 and TUF RTX 3090, as well as Nvidia's RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 Founders Editions. Testing all four GPUs will allow us to get a clear idea of how performance scales with an eGPU, which is what we are interested in. We know all four will be faster than using integrated graphics, but is there any benefit to the RTX 3090 over an RTX 3080 when using a Thunderbolt 3 dock? That's what we're looking at today.

Of course, we also need a device to connect the dock to, and we opted for the Razer Blade 15 Base. This is the latest 2021 model, and obviously the most important thing is that it has a Thunderbolt 3 port. The CPU is also important though, as overall gaming performance will vary depending on the calibre of processor inside your host PC. The Blade uses Intel's i7-10750H, which is a 45W hexa-core CPU. It's beefier than an ultra-low power processor you may find inside an Ultrabook, but for our testing today it will do the job just fine.

The post Palit RTX 3060 Ti GamingPro OC Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Despite launching at the beginning of the month, we are yet to look at a custom RTX 3060 Ti graphics card – the subsequent launches of first the AMD RX 6900 XT and then Cyberpunk 2077 kept our attention elsewhere. That changes today however, as we assess the Palit RTX 3060 Ti GamingPro OC. With a hefty factory overclock and a power target that is 40W higher than the reference spec, what can this card offer to the mid-range market?

In terms of its appearance, the Palit RTX 3060 Ti GamingPro OC may look familiar, and that's because it shares a very similar design to the RTX 3080 GamingPro OC that we reviewed a couple of months ago. It's not quite identical though, while the cooler has also – understandably – been stripped back slightly as the 3060 Ti is a lower-power chip.

Still, increasing clock speed by 135MHz compared to the Founders Edition is no mean feat, and it will be interesting to see how that affects the thermals and noise levels of this card. We also test seven games, including Cyberpunk 2077, to see if the GamingPro OC can offer a meaningful performance increase over the Founders Edition.

The RTX 3060 Ti is the first Ampere GPU to launch which wasn’t announced in the September livestream event. Just like the RTX 3070, however, it uses Nvidia’s GA104 GPU, but a cut-down version of that silicon. That means the RTX 3060 Ti incorporates 38 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs), and thanks to Ampere’s new SM structure with its two FP32 datapaths, each SM houses 128 CUDA cores, giving a total of 4684.

Ampere also places one RT core, and four Tensor cores, in each SM, giving a total of 38 RT cores and 152 Tensor cores. This is accompanied by 152 texture units, and 80 ROPs which are now housed directly within each graphics processing cluster (GPC), with 16 ROPs per GPC, and 5 GPCs in total for RTX 3070.

Nvidia's reference spec for the RTX 3060 Ti sees a rated boost clock of 1665MHz. The GamingPro OC is a factory overclocked mode though, with a rated boost clock of 1800MHz.  We test real-world clock speed behaviour later in this review.

For the memory, Nvidia is using the same configuration as the RTX 3070. That means it sports 8GB of 14Gbps GDDR6 memory, operating over a 256-bit bus, for total memory bandwidth of 448 GB/Sec.

Lastly, for total graphics power, Palit has set a power target of 240W for the GamingPro OC, which is a 40W increase of the reference specification.

The post Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Claimed to be faster than the RTX 2080 Super, today marks the launch of Nvidia's latest Ampere GPU, the RTX 3060 Ti. Priced at £369 here in the UK, the RTX 3060 Ti is the next step down in the 30-series stack, bringing Ampere to its lowest price point yet. Using a cut-down version of the RTX 3070 GPU, it looks tailor-made for a high refresh-rate 1080p or 1440p display, so let's see exactly what this new GPU can deliver.

There's been a succession of GPU launches over the past couple of months, but for the most part the focus has been on the high-end segment – those willing to spend upwards of £500 (or significantly more!) for a new graphics card. With the RTX 3060 Ti, Nvidia is bringing its latest Ampere GPU down into the mid-range, with the MSRP set to £369 here in the UK.

That's exactly £300 less than what the RTX 2080 Super launched for just last year, yet Nvidia isn't shy about claiming the RTX 3060 Ti is the faster GPU. We're also told to expect an uplift of 40% compared to the RTX 2060 Super, which itself launched for £379 in July 2019. Here, we put both claims to the test, looking at 1080p, 1440p and 4K performance over a range of AAA games.

Clock speed is slightly lower than the RTX 3070. The RTX 3070 Founders Edition has a reference clock of 1725MHz, but the RTX 3060 Ti drops that down to 1665MHz.

My particular Founders Edition model uses Samsung G6 memory, but we have also seen Micron memory being used in the past.

Lastly, for total graphics power, Nvidia rates the RTX 3060 Ti for 200W, which is 20W less than the RTX 3070 as a result of its lower core-count and slightly reduced clock speed.

It looks like the announcement of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is right around the corner. Gigabyte has added 4 new graphics card at Eurasian Economic Commission database using Nvidia's unannounced GeForce RTX 3060 Ti SKU.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is expected to release soon after the RTX 3070. The RTX 3060 Ti will supposedly feature the Ampere GA104 GPU with 4864 CUDA cores (1024 less than the RTX 3070), paired with 8GB of GDDR6 (non-X) memory and a 256-bit memory bus. Memory should come clocked at 14Gbps, just like the RTX 3070, delivering a bandwidth of up to 448GBps. TDP should be around the 180W mark.

The 4 graphics cards listed by Gigabyte at EEC (via @KOMACHI_ENSAKA) are the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB Aorus Master (GV-N306TAORUS M-8GD), the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB Gaming OC (GV-N306TGAMING OC-8GD), the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB Eagle OC (GV-N306TEAGLE OC-8GD), and the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB Eagle (GV-N306TEAGLE-8GD).

As per the naming of the upcoming Gigabyte graphics cards and expected TDP, the cooling solution of these RTX 3060 Ti cards should be similar, if not equal, to the ones used in the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming and Eagle cards.

Some retailers have already started to list these cards, as noted by @momomo_us. If there's something to be taken from the placeholder name, it is that the embargo of these cards should end by the first half of October. The price should also be a placeholder. We should know more about the RTX 3060 Ti during October.
