HP is back in the SSD arena, this time with a new S750 2.5″ SATA model coming in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB options. All three models were announced this week, produced in a partnership with BiWin, the same company that has made other SSDs for HP in the past.

In terms of endurance, the 256 GB model is rated at 160 Terabytes Written (TBW), the 512 GB is rated at 320 TBW, and the 1TB is rated at 650 TBW. All the SKUs weigh in at less than 50 grams and have a specified mean time between failure (MTBF) of about 2,000,000 hours.

The 512 GB model has the best random access performance – with read/write speeds up to 90,000/89,000 IOPS. The 256 GB model is capable of up to 55,000/79,000 IOPS (reads/writes) and the 1 TB model is said to be able to handle up to 74,000/80,000 IOPS. The SSD drives are outfitted with 96-layer NAND which enables read/write speeds up to 560/520 MB/s, which is about what you would expect from a SATA SSD.
