Following its abundant success, PowerWash Simulator announced and released a bunch of crossovers, ranging from Final Fantasy VII to SpongeBob SquarePants. Last year the team revealed that they would be collabing with the grim and dark world of Warhammer 40K – with the DLC finally set to arrive in just a week’s time.

Announced at IGN’s Fan Fest and arriving on the 27th of February, the Warhammer 40K DLC pack for PowerWash Simulator will see you “take your well-drilled Adeptus Mechanicus maintenance skills to an assortment of muddied Imperial relics, from the tracks of a Rogal Dorn battle tank to the lofty carapace of a towering Imperial Knight.”

Prior crossovers have been received well, with great attention to detail being paid to each of the various source materials, lending to a surprisingly authentic powerwashing experience.

No price has been given for the DLC, but the prior two paid crossovers (SpongeBob and Back to the Future) are priced at £6.50 – so expect it to most likely be the same. It is always fun to see relatively small titles crossover with juggernaut franchises. It’ll be interesting to see what other ‘future’ plans the team at FuturLab have.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the trailer? Will you pick up the DLC? How do you think the paid DLC compares to its free counterparts? Let us know down below.

PowerWash Simulator hit it big last year, with the team at FuturLab continuing to support the game in a number of ways ever since. Alongside a bunch of free updates, the game has crossed over with quite a few franchises. The next big collab will see players power wash many iconic locations across the Back to the Future trilogy.

Making the announcement via a press release, the team at FuturLab revealed this latest collab, saying “The Back to the Future Special Pack is coming to PowerWash Simulator. Retailing at $7.99/€7.99/£6.49, the high-voltage expansion will be available later this year on Steam, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.”

While we have so far only seen a 20-second teaser for the DLC, it was confirmed that a total of 5 new maps would be added, spanning the entire Back to the Future Trilogy.

Alongside the addition of 10 achievements, players will be able to power wash:

  • Doc Brown’s van
  • The Time Machine
  • Hill Valley Clocktower
  • the Holomax Theatre
  • Doc’s Time Train

Speaking on this upcoming crossover, Kirsty Rigden – the Co-CEO of FuturLab – said “Back to the Future is a dream IP. This new collaboration gives us the opportunity to take our players somewhere completely unexpected… the past, future and present!”

For those who do not wish to splash the cash on this crossover, PowerWash Simulator recently received a free update adding three new levels, gyro support and full DualSense implementation for maximum immersion. It will be interesting to see what other collabs are on the way.

Ever since its launch last Summer, PowerWash Simulator has been able to keep fans captivated not only through its satisfying gameplay loop, but also thanks to a number of paid and free updates which included a whole host of exciting crossover content. The latest free update is now available and brings with it new levels alongside gyro support and more for even greater satisfying gameplay.

Making the announcement on their blog, the team at FuturLab detailed PowerWash Simulator’s update 1.4 (The Muckingham Files 2), saying “Three new maps have arrived in PowerWash Simulator in the latest instalment of The Muckingham Files; a series of free content updates expanding the game’s original universe. Explore even more of your favourite filthy town and spray your way to squeaky-clean satisfaction.”

The three levels added in this latest update will see players:

  • Clean the Excavator
  • Clean The Paintball Arena
  • Clean The Spanish Villa

Those with a gyro-supported controller will also now have a new way to spray away all the dust and grime, as PS5, PS4 and Switch owners can now utilise their respective controllers' gyroscopes to make for an even more immersive cleaning experience.

Perhaps the most exciting addition however comes to PS5 players, as alongside gyro support, PowerWash Simulator now uses the DualSense’s Adaptive Triggers, offering an experience which “mirrors that of a real power washer”. Additionally, the DualSense now properly utilises its haptic motors and controller speaker to make you feel as though you are holding an actual power washer in your hands.

For PS5 players in particular this update is a massive one, but for any and all who own PowerWash Simulator – no matter your system – The Muckingham Files 2 still has a lot to get stuck into.

A couple weeks ago we reported that the viral hit Powerwash Simulator would be getting a crossover with Final Fantasy VII – the second piece of free DLC based on another video game IP. At the time, few details were shared, with the team simply saying “Please wait for future information about the delivery time”. Now, not only do we have more details, but an exact launch date.

Making the announcement on their blog, Powerwash Simulator’s publisher Square Enix showed off and detailed the upcoming free ‘Midgar Special Pack’, saying “The next set of new levels will take you to the world of one of the most famous Final Fantasy titles and launches in just a few short weeks: March 2 2023! Named the ‘Midgar Special Pack’, it features five new jobs based in the City of Mako itself!”

The crossover seems to be rather comprehensive, offering 5 new levels both set above and below the plate in which you will “work clearing up the mess made by Midgar’s usual suspects – Don Corneo’s lackeys, Professor Hojo’s ‘specimens’ and Heidegger’s dangerous tech.”

The DLC itself seems to be rather well integrated, as the jobs themselves will be assigned to you by “both loyal members of Avalanche, and Shinra bigshots.” where “as you clean, you’ll discover their stories through text messages.”

All this and more – including new dirt types – will be available for free to all those who have purchased PowerWash Simulator. More details on each of the 5 separate levels can be found HERE.

Last month we reported that the popular PowerWash Simulator was getting a crossover with the Tomb Raider franchise, letting players powerwash the entire Croft Manor as part of a free update. It seems more collaborations are on the way, as a new Final Fantasy VII crossover has just been announced.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Square Enix revealed that following the Tomb Raider collaboration – which went live at the tail end of January – PowerWash Simulator is now getting a second free crossover in the form of the ‘Midgar Special Pack’, with the publisher saying (as translated by Google):

“The second free DLC is a collaboration with FFVII! In the collaboration DLC ‘Midgar Special Request’ with ‘FFVII’, you will be given a mission to polish familiar places and enemies such as ‘Seventh Heaven’ and ‘Guard Scorpion’. Please wait for future information about the delivery time!”

It is interesting to see PowerWash Simulator receiving such curious crossovers. The unique gameplay loop of the title in combination with Square Enix’s various IPs means that we could see many more iconic locations show up in future PowerWash Simulator updates.

The title allows you to plan and build you own virtual PC system with a range of components from various manufacturers. PC Building simulator has had quite a few updates over the past year with the biggest one being the addition of Custom watercooling. I thought this was a great opportunity to pick up the game again and plan my dream PC complete with a custom loop.

Within the game you walk around a virtual PC building workspace that has plenty of desk space to create entire computer setups complete with peripherals. I selected components such as a case, motherboard, memory, CPU, power supply and graphics card. However you can’t simply slot the components in and the game is accurate down to the point of removing panels and dust filters and screwing everything into place.

I was actually really impressed with how accurate most of the design is and even though it was virtual, designing a custom loop was actually a lot of work! The only feature missing is the arduous task of cable management – But I can't say I was disappointed. I can't wait to see what the game developers do next and I would love to see more options for customising the various components.

You can find my original gameplay video HERE when I played PC building simulator for the first time.

The internet has a lot of fun time wasters on it, but very few of them can mesmerise you quite like a physics simulator. Often they're very pretty and the fact that you can impact them with just a few clicks of the mouse can mean endless entertainment and wonder, albeit until you get busted and told to get back to work. That's just what this fluid, physics simulator within your browser does.

To operate this funky little simulator, all you need to do is start clicking and dragging. Doing so one way and then the other can create fun little swirling masses, though after a while it becomes a oily hodgpodge of circles swirling around each other. Never fear though, using the controls in the corner you can stop it and restart with a new click, destroying your previous construct with ease.

Ooh pretty…

It's especially fun to right click somewhere and then left click on the opposite side of the screen, sending a railgun-like shot right through everything.

As usual with this sort of in-browser time wasting stuff, thanks to the chaps in the PCMasterRace subreddit for finding it.

One of the upsides to PC gaming is the increased control over your gameplay experience, allowing you to make trade offs between graphical settings and frame rate. While many developers have strayed away from offering these options to console gamers, the team behind Project Cars feel that console gamers should have more options.

Digital Foundry was the first to discover that the console version of Project Cars would have graphical options, it isn't quite as advanced as a PC settings menu would be but it does have options for post-processing filters, lens flare, rain drops, bloom, vignette and exposure compensation.

2854330-cars-

A camera settings menu also allows you to change the field of view, which can be very important to some gamers. There is no word on whether or not these graphics toggles will affect the frame rate or performance in any way but this is a good start for console owners looking for greater control over their visual experience.

Project Cars Creative Director, Andy Tudor, also explained why the studio decided to include these options. Speaking with Gamespot he said: “Console owners should have just as much right to tailor their game to their particular preferences as PC players. Whether that’s authenticity, visual options, how the camera reacts, accessibility etc”.

Project Cars is due to launch on the PC on the 7th of May. Those looking to play the game on the Xbox One or PS4 will be able to get the game on the 12th of May in the US. The game launches on the 8th of May for all platforms in the UK.

KitGuru Says: Since the start of this new generation of consoles, debate on frame-rates has been rife. While Project Cars might not let players entirely choose between fidelity and performance, the available options menu is a good start that could inspire other developers should there be a good reaction. Would you guys like to see more graphics options on consoles? Would you rather just stick with a PC?

While a final release date has yet to be announced for Frontier Development's upcoming game, Elite: Dangerous, pricing and a special edition version have both been announced. As with most other big titles, the game will release for $60 but the special edition  can be pre-ordered for a discount.

All of the benefits of the special “Mercenary” edition are digital, including a players' guide, concept art book, ship decal, paint schemes, and an additional fighter. Frontier has stated that “additional in-game benefits and other digital goodies to be announced over the coming weeks”.

The Mercenary edition can be pre-ordered for $50, those who have already pre-ordered the game will automatically receive all of the announced bonus content.

Elite: Dangerous was funded through Kickstarter, raising $2.6 million for development. The game will launch on PC and Mac with Oculus Rift support, although an exact release date has yet to be announced. The game looks similar to Star Citizen, which has raised close to $50 million so far.

KitGuru Says: Elite: Dangerous is coming along nicely, although the development team will likely be looking for a few private investors to get on board as $2.6 million won't cover the full cost of development. Most Star Wars fans have dreamt of wielding a lightsaber at one point or another and now thanks to the Oculus Rift- you actually can. Using some Optitrack sensors, and an Oculus Rift DK1, Benjamin Teitler was able to create a lightsaber training simulator from scratch.

In the video you can see that Teitler is using a laptop packed away in his backpack to allow for free movement across the room. In earlier videos he used a long USB cord attached to a desktop.

He made this demo himself so it's not available for other rift users to try out. However, he does have a few other videos available that show off his lightsaber simulator.

In an earlier demo video, the poster said that he was using a Optitrack Mocap system (12x Flex 13), Oculus Rift DK1, 60 Ghz Wireless HDMI transmitter/receiver, a battery pack to power the rift and a  long usb cord for head tracking of the rift.

KitGuru Says: I've always wanted to play something like this. Unfortunately, this simulation requires some expensive extra sensors to allow for proper tracking with the Oculus DK1. Ever wanted to play your favourite racing game, whilst sat in a true to life Formula one car? Of course you have, which is why you're going to be oh-so envious of anyone that buys this full size racing simulator from Costco, which literally builds a monstrous gaming desktop into a replica F1 car.

Featuring an eyefinity, triple monitor display, and packing in a triple-crossfire equipped, i7 running, SSD installed gaming rig, this “full size racing simulator,” is designed to offer the closest gaming experience to the real thing. Made by FMCG, an F1 events company, the car is built to be as realistic as possible – at least on the surface – with carbon fibre detailing and the main body made from a high-quality composite alloy.

Everything is modelled on it too, despite the fact that it's all entirely redundant beyond making you feel immersed. There's wheels and tyres on the thing, as well as brake disks, a faux-gear box and engine.

racer

The steering wheel is real though, or at least, it's designed to visually match an F1 type wheel while hooked up the PC. However it's also been custom made to offer specialised force feedback, so you should really feel it when changing road surface. Likewise the pedals are also connected and designed to mirror F1 styling, as well as being adjustable for varied heights.

Built into the main frame as well, is a 5.1 surround system, with the sub woofer positioned right behind the driver to give added bass. However the display set up sounds a little disappointing. While there are three 23 inch TFT screens available, the specifications seem to suggest that they have an 8ms response time, which is too slow for some fast paced games and could lead to ghosting.

cockpit

But hey, if you've got £90,000 to shell out, chances are you can afford a couple more to make some upgrades.

KitGuru Says: While this is a pretty epic build, I think I'd like to see some more simulation like controls. Still though, would be a great party piece to just roll this out half way through the evening.

One of the most impressive Oculus Rift demos that's been showcased to date, is Eve: Valyrie, a first person, cockpit, space-shooter based in the Eve universe, but Rift support was an after thought – or at least that's what we thought. In-fact, as it turns out, Oculus and Eve developer CCP Games have done a deal to co-produce Valkyrie, setting it up as the first “exclusive Oculus Rift launch title.”

“Since its debut at EVE Fanfest last year, Valkyrie has been a brilliant showcase for the power of VR and hands-down one of our favorite Rift games”, said Oculus in an announcement, highlighting how many awards Valkyrie has won at shows like E3 and CES. Part of the reason it's done so well it said, was because it was built from the ground up for the Rift and because the team focused on immersion, making sure that developing the two contrasting feelings of claustrophobia from he cockpit and the sheer endless, vastness of space were paramount.

eveccp
We still don't know a lot about Valkyrie, but it could end up being a new esports title

However, Oculus isn't done with one flagship launch title, it's got its eyes peeled for more: “We’re looking for more great developers to partner with on made-for-VR content. If you’re interested in potentially teaming up, email us at publishing@oculusvr.com to learn more!”

There's also jobs available at Oculus at the moment, hinting that game production within the hardware maker and now developer, is beginning to ramp up. If you could fill any of these roles and want to work at one of the companies spearheading true next-gen gaming, then it might be worth giving them a bell:

  • Senior 3D Artists and Modelers
  • Senior Animators
  • Senior Gameplay Engineers

KitGuru Says: This is pretty exciting news, as one of the big things missing on the Rift at the moment – beyond a commercially available HD version – is full game experiences. The fact that Oculus is going to be partnering with studios and developing its own titles with John Carmack in-house, is a good indicator of it making sure it doesn't get stuck in a perpetual chicken and egg scenario, where the hardware isn't supported because the games aren't getting made and vice versa.

The UK's main BMW dealer is located in Park Lane in the heart of London's West End. If you find yourself down town for the sales (either of your own volition – or propelled by your other half and an insatiable need to max out the credit card), then maybe you can drop into the home of the M3/M5 and put your skills to the test on an £8,000 PC. KitGuru dons the driving gloves.

When KitGuru ran a mini-series of articles on the YOYOTech Aurum 24K, one thing was for sure: Very few people would be looking to fork out £8,000 for a system – but we all want to know what ‘tomorrow' might look like.

With computer technology, there is an inevitable move from ‘extreme' to ‘affordable' – although it might take more than 24 months for nVidia Titan GTX SLi level graphics to become ‘affordable' for most people.

According to YOYOTech, the folks at Forbes put it very succinctly back in November when they asked something like “What if money were no object and you wanted the ultimate high resolution 4K gaming PC? The YOYOTech Aurum 24K gives a glimpse of what's in store for future PCs”.

From 27th December to 3rd January, you can get hands-on with the £8,000 YOYOTech Aurum 24K at BMW Park Lane – as it delivers the smooth frame rates in a robust simulation.

Get on. Get warmed up. Deliver your hot lap, then sit back and wait to see if your time is the fastest.

The winner will receive a cool prize, plus the kudos of knowing that they are ‘simply the best at this'. You can also sit in a lot of very expensive cars  and breath in the smell of success.

KitGuru says: If you're into gaming, cars and super-expensive PCs, then what better way to spend time while your significant other puts you further in debt.
