The MSI Suprim card series will be receiving a new addition to the line-up. In partnership with Ubisoft, MSI will launch an Assassin's Creed Valhalla-themed RTX 3080 Suprim X graphics card.

If you know the MSI Suprim graphics cards, the Assassin's Creed Valhalla special edition GPU won't surprise you. The shroud has the same design, but instead of having different tones of grey, it comes in various shades of blue, with some AC: Valhalla inscriptions on the backplate and the side of the card.

The RTX 3080 Suprim X Assassin's Creed Valhalla is based on the 10G RTX 3080 SKU (LHR). The GPU is factory-overclocked to the same speed as the standard RTX 3080 Suprim X card (up to 1920MHz with Dragon Centre), while the memory runs at the reference speed of 19Gbps. There are 3x 8-pin power connectors to power the card, delivering 370W of power. As a result, MSI recommends users have at least an 850W PSU.

For now, this card is only listed on the Taiwanese website (via @momomo_us), where MSI is bundling a free copy of Assassin's Creed Valhalla with it. Availability for other markets hasn't been disclosed.

The post Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti Review ft. MSI & Palit first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
While the RTX 3090 Ti was officially announced back at CES 2022, we've had to wait until now to hear more about Nvidia's new flagship GPU. That's right, the RTX 3090 Ti launches today, and we are checking out both the MSI Suprim X and Palit GameRock OC models. But how much faster is this new card compared to the RTX 3090? And will it really guzzle 450W of power? We discuss all that and more in this review.

We've mentioned that this is a ‘new' GPU, which I suppose is technically true, but the reality is the Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti is using the same GA102 silicon we have been familiar with ever since the launch of the RTX 3080 10GB and RTX 3090 24GB back in September 2020. Yes, it has been tweaked with a few extra cores, higher clocks and faster memory, but it's very much an Ampere GPU, fabbed on Samsung's 8nm process, so don't expect wild performance gains over the vanilla RTX 3090.

Due to the increase in power draw however, the two cards we are looking at today are easily the largest I have ever seen, with both the MSI RTX 3090 Ti Suprim X and the Palit RTX 3090 Ti GameRock OC dwarfing even the RTX 3080 Ti. We take a closer look at each of these days in the subsequent pages of this review.

RTX 3090 Ti RTX 3090 RTX 3080 Ti RTX 3080 RTX 3070
SMs 84 82 80 68 46
CUDA Cores 10752 10496 10240 8704 5888
Tensor Cores 336 328 320 272 184
RT Cores 84 82 80 68 46
Texture Units 336 328 320 272 184
ROPs 112 112 112 96 96
GPU Boost Clock 1860 MHz 1695 MHz 1665 MHz 1710 MHz 1725 MHz

TGP 450W 350W 350W 320W 220W

Let's first recap the exact makeup of this GPU however. We've mentioned the RTX 3090 Ti uses GA102 silicon, but it's the first time we have seen a fully populated die. That means the RTX 3090 Ti incorporates 84 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs), and thanks to Ampere’s SM structure with its two FP32 datapaths, each SM houses 128 CUDA cores, giving a total of 10752. This is an increase of 256 cores compared to the RTX 3090, an extra 2.4%.

Ampere also places one RT core, and four Tensor cores, in each SM, giving a total of 84 RT cores and 336 Tensor cores. This is accompanied by 336 texture units and 112 ROPs which are housed directly within each graphics processing cluster (GPC), with 16 ROPs per GPC, and 7 GPCs in total for RTX 3090 Ti.

Clock speed is another area where Nvidia has made improvements compared to the RTX 3090. The RTX 3090 Ti has a reference clock of 1860 MHz, a boost of 165 MHz against the RTX 3090, though both of the partner cards we test come factory overclocked. We test real-world clock speed behaviour later in this review.

For the memory, Nvidia is using the same 384-bit bus as found with the RTX 3090. The memory allocation itself remains with 24GB of GDDR6X, but the kicker is these modules themselves have been upgraded to new 21Gbps chips. This brings total memory bandwidth up to over 1TB/s, hitting 1008GB/s to be precise.

Lastly, for total graphics power, Nvidia rates the RTX 3090 Ti for 450W, an increase of 100W, or 28.6% compared to the vanilla RTX 3090. Both cards we are looking at today push this further still, with a 480W power limit for the Suprim X, and a 460W limit for the GameRock OC. Of course, we are on hand to utilise our best ever GPU power testing methodology, so read on for our most detailed power testing yet.

The MSI RTX 3090 Ti Suprim X's spec sheet was leaked alongside a few pictures, showing what is most likely the thickest graphics card you've ever seen. Powered by a 16-pin PCIe 5.0 power connector, MSI's upcoming flagship card is probably also the most power-demanding consumer GPU, as it has a rated power consumption of 480W.

The spec sheet and the pictures of the MSI RTX 3090 Ti Suprim X shared by VideoCardz confirm some earlier rumours. Reading the specifications, you can see the card will indeed feature 10,752 CUDA cores and 24GB of GDDR6X memory clocked at 21Gbps across a 384-bit memory bus. In addition, clock speeds will go up to 1,965MHz, but overclockers will undoubtedly go much higher.

The pictures showing the side of the card allow us to see the 16-pin PCIe 5.0 power connector, capable of delivering up to 450W of power. This much power will come in handy, as MSI lists the card's power consumption as 480W. Adding 75W from the PCIe interface from the motherboard to the 450W from the 16-pin connector, you get 525W (45W of margin).

The card features a massive 3.5-slot design to house the enormous heatsink to cool the GPU, resulting in a total weight of 2.1kg. Moreover, the pictures also show the card will have 3x DisplayPorts (1.4a) and an HDMI (2.1) port.

Specs for the upcoming MSI RTX 3090 Ti Suprim X have been leaked, confirming some of the rumours we've been hearing about this new GPU. If you're thinking about getting one of these cards, you will want to make sure your power supply has at least a rated wattage of 1000W…

The screenshot was shared by @wnxod, detailing MSI's upcoming RTX 3090 Ti graphics card. Based on a GA102 GPU with 10752 CUDA cores, the graphics can boost up to 1.9GHz (in Extreme mode) through MSI Control Center software. In addition, it features 24GB of the revised GDDR6X memory clocked at 21Gbps across a 384-bit bus.

The card will be powered by 3x 8-pin power connectors instead of the new 16-pin power connector we've heard lately. Rated TDP is set at 480W, about 30W more than the reference model, and a recommended PSU should be capable of delivering at least 1000W.

Nvidia was rumoured to launch the RTX 3090 alongside the RTX 3050 on January 27th. However, considering the alleged BIOS and hardware issues that led the company to order partners to halt the production of these cards, that may not happen. In any case, Nvidia has promised to unveil more about the graphics card later this month.

MSI has announced the new Suprim line of RTX 30 series graphics cards. To create this card, MSI has used its expertise in “circuit engineering and cooling development” alongside high-quality materials to create a new line of high-end graphics cards.

Featuring MSI's Tri Frozr 2S cooling system with Torx 4.0 fans, backplate, Core Pipes, and airflow control fins, the RTX 30 series Suprim cards are near-silent during operation, even when working at peak performance. The two BIOS included in this card allows users to choose between a performance-oriented profile or silence-focused operation.

The shroud is made of polished aluminium and features Mystic Light RGB lighting between the fans and on the side. The aluminium backplate has MSI's dragon logo inscribed on it, which is also illuminated with customisable RGB lighting. Due to the RGB LEDs being Mystic Light compatible, users will be able to synchronise with other Mystic Light products and components.

The MSI RTX 30 series graphics cards come with a bundled mousepad and a support stand to prevent sagging. You can use MSI's DragonCenter to edit the GPU settings and configure Frozr AI cooling to unify the case fans connected to a compatible MSI motherboard and behave according to the GPU's temperature.
