While the story of Clementine seemingly concluded with the release of the final season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead back in 2019, the fan-favourite character is now returning to the world of The Walking Dead – but this time in graphic novel form.

Announced by Image and Skybound as part of “a new original graphic novel imprint aimed at Young Adult (Ages 12+) and Middle Grade (Ages 8-12) audiences” called Skybound Comet, Clementine Book 1 is the first issue in a trilogy of graphic novels returning fans to the world of The Walking Dead as experienced through the eyes of Clementine.

The first issue will be released in July 2022 and will follow Clementine in the wake of the game’s final season. This will see her “back on the road, looking to put her traumatic past behind her and forge a new path all her own. But when she comes across an Amish teenager named Amos with his head in the clouds, the unlikely pair journeys North to an abandoned ski resort in Vermont, where they meet up with a small group of teenagers attempting to build a new, walker-free settlement. As friendship, rivalry, and romance begin to blossom amongst the group, the harsh winter soon reveals that the biggest threat to their survival…might be each other.”

Commenting on this revival of Telltale’s take on The Walking Dead, the graphic novel’s writer and artist – Tillie Walden – said “Starting out with a character like Clementine is both a huge responsibility and joy. Clementine is a person who brings adventure with her everywhere she goes, and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to take her beyond the world of the games, to somewhere new and thrilling (like the top of a mountain!). She is a force and drawing and writing her story has been one of the best experiences in my cartooning life.”

While the final season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead was tainted somewhat by the closure of the development studio, among other issues, it is exciting to see Telltale’s unique take on Robert Kirkman’s world and characters revived and continued, giving fans more Clementine.

Back in 2018, the financial situation at Telltale Games went south very swiftly and despite various cutbacks and management changes, the studio ultimately shut down. Since then, another company has acquired Telltale’s assets, leading to The Wolf Among Us 2 returning to development in 2019. The game was re-announced at The Game Awards last year and now, rumour has it we'll be getting a proper reveal trailer this week.

Over on the gaming leaks and rumours subreddit, an anonymous source has leaked what appears to be a screenshot from the trailer, revealing that The Wolf Among Us 2 will have all five episodes available in Winter 2021.

The image above is part of the leak, giving us a new look at protagonist Bigby Wolf. According to the leak, the game will primarily be set in New York City, but there will be a section of the game that takes place in Vermont to investigate a missing persons case. There will also be a second playable character at some points in the story.

The leak ends by saying that all five episodes will be available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5 in Winter 2021. Apparently there is no Switch version planned at this time.

KitGuru Says: The Game Awards take place on Thursday evening, so we don't have long to wait to get confirmation on this particular leak. Do you reckon we'll be seeing The Wolf Among Us 2 again this year?

When season one of Telltale’s The Walking Dead released in 2012, it helped breathe new life into the choice-based narrative adventure game genre. Upon Telltale Games’ effective closure in 2018 however, all four seasons of The Walking Dead, alongside a number of Telltale Game’s other titles were removed from Steam’s storefront. After over a year of absence, the complete series has made its return to Steam, while seasons 2 and 3, previously absent on the Switch, have made their debut on Nintendo’s Hybrid console.

The announcement came via Skybound Games, a division of Skybound Entertainment focused on video game development, who helped develop the final season of The Walking Dead, and acquired the rights to the series after Telltale’s closure. They announced that all four seasons of Telltale’s The Walking Dead would be returning to Steam. Each season is priced at £11.99, save for the concluding season, which costs £18.99. Both the Michonne miniseries and ‘400 Days’ episode have returned as well, for £10.99 and £3.99 respectively.

This wasn’t the only announcement to come out regarding The Walking Dead, as for those who own the Nintendo Switch, they too can now experience Clementine’s complete story. Seasons two and three of The Walking Dead have been published on the Switch for the first time, filling in the gaps between one and four, which have been available on the console since 2018, prior to Telltale’s closure.

Telltale Games’ closure in 2018 was certainly a loss to the industry, but with the return of their most popular series to Steam, at least their games can be appreciated for years to come.

Since then, another company has acquired Telltale’s assets, leading to The Wolf Among Us 2 returning to development. However, while progress on the game was previously made, development is starting again from scratch.

LCG Entertainment now owns the Telltale brand and has hired AdHoc, a new studio formed by previous Telltale developers, to revive The Wolf Among Us 2. Nick Herman and Dennis Lenart previously directed The Wolf Among Us and will return for the sequel, as will writer Pierre Shorette and composer Jared Emerson-Johnson.

Speaking with USGamer, Jamie Ottilie, CEO of LCG Entertainment/Telltale, confirmed a few extra details about the project: “We have completely restarted the development of the game, we felt it best to give the new creative team a clean slate to start with.”

Prior to closing down, Telltale was in the process of transitioning from its own game engine to using Unity. Another change has since fallen into place, as The Wolf Among Us 2 is now being made on the Unreal Engine.

KitGuru Says: With The Wolf Among Us 2 starting over, it could be a while before we get our hands on it. Still, it is very exciting to see the game back in development, complete with new tools and resources.

Telltale Games unfortunately closed down last year after failing to recover from financial issues and shrinking sales. At the time, multiple Telltale series began to disappear from sale on digital storefronts but eventually, issues were resolved and some fan favourite games managed to remain on sale. Now, that situation is creeping up again, with GOG confirming that eight Telltale games are going to disappear next week.

In a post on the GOG forum, the DRM-free store confirms that The Wolf Among Us, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hector: Badge of Carnage, Batman, Sam & Max, Puzzle Agent, Tales from the Borderlands and Strong Bad would be removed from sale. The games will be removed from the GOG library on the 27th of May due to Telltale's closure and we could see those titles also disappear from other digital stores.

The Walking Dead Telltale series is now in the hands of Skybound and has managed to remain on sale. In addition, many former Telltale employees flocked to Skybound to help finish up the final season. 2K Games has also confirmed that it is working to ensure that Tales from the Borderlands can return to sale in the future.

A recent documentary from NoClip told the story behind Telltale's shutdown. Executives at the company would push back on creative decisions, which made changing up the usual Telltale formula difficult for developers. Then, shrinking sales meant that the studio wasn't making money back on some of its expensive licenses, including Batman and The Walking Dead. A new CEO was brought in eventually and changes did start to occur. Former Telltale employees say that they were doing their best work in years in the weeks/months prior to closing down for good. Unfortunately, we'll never get to see what that all would have resulted in.

KitGuru Says: It was very unfortunate to see Telltale go down last year. Hopefully the rights holders behind some of the bigger games can manage to keep them on sale. After all, Telltale's Batman series and Tales from the Borderlands were both very good.

Skybound Games finally managed to solidify a release date for the anticipated third episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season last week, making its way into the hands of players on January 15, 2019. This was great news for returning players, but newcomers were sadly left unable to purchase the seemingly unavailable game. Fortunately, this has since been rectified as future purchases can now be made exclusively through the Epic Store.

Owners of the game on other PC platforms such as Steam needn’t worry, as all three remaining episodes of The Final Season will be launching on every platform simultaneously. The new deal with the Epic Store simply pertains to future purchases of the title on Windows. Sadly, despite housing “around 40” original members of staff, Clementine voice actor Melissa Hutchison has confirmed that Skybound hasn’t picked up the rights to other Telltale games, “currently.” It also remains to be seen whether or not previous The Walking Dead entries will appear on the platform after being delisted from other stores.

The Epic Store has been making headlines lately for its competitive revenue split, undercutting Steam’s 30 percent take by leaving a whopping 88 percent in the hands of developers. It’s not quite Discord’s miniscule 10 percent take, but it has started a trend that should surely benefit publishers, developers and potentially customers alike.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season has found a fitting home for itself, joining other Epic Store exclusives such as Hades, Ashen and the upcoming Super Meat Boy Forever. Unlike the latter, however, it seems like The Walking Dead will remain a permanent fixture, rather than a timed exclusive.

KitGuru Says: It’s good to see things looking up for the unfinished game, especially after so many Telltale members of staff poured their heart and soul into the series conclusion. Here’s hoping that there are no more bumps in the road. Are you excited to see The Walking Dead come back on sale?

Following the tumultuous aftermath of Telltale’s unexpected firings, Skybound Games announced that it has struck a deal to see The Walking Dead: The Final Season through to completion. Despite numerous hiccups in getting the project under way, the developer assures fans that it intends to debut the third episode before the end of the year.

The news that Skybound had saved Telltale’s The Walking Dead was welcome among fans, however the deal was sweetened when it stated that it intended to reunite the project with original developers of the first two episodes. “We don't believe the game can be properly completed by anyone other than members of the original team,” explained Skybound CEO Ian Howe.

Doing “everything we can to do right by the people making the game,” Skybound has stated that special accommodations would be made for returning Telltale staff to remain in the Bay Area instead of being brought over to the studio’s Los Angeles-based offices. Despite the offer, Howe stated that many of the 40 he has already met with have moved onto other opportunities.

“Quite simply, some of the team have already been offered new opportunities (which is a really good thing) so we're still figuring out who is available and who isn't,” he said. “It's our absolute intention to complete this story with the people who have bought it this far. We're only going to look outside of that group in situations where we have no other choice, which hopefully will be not be too often.”

Howe also recognises that many might not want to come back to the project after the tense fallout from their former employer, even if Telltale Games has nothing to do with this current revival. “These guys have put a huge amount of emotion into this series and they've been through a tough couple of weeks,” explains Howe. “It would be completely understandable if that meant some of the team have reservations about coming back to finish the game.”

Until the team is fully in place, it's difficult for Skybound to give an estimate of when the third episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will debut. Howe did offer some confidence behind a release date “this year” in a recent Reddit post, however he also mentioned that he would “be very disappointed if we can't make that happen.”

Although Howe has mentioned that many of the 40 have found other opportunities by the end of last week, there are many, many more that are still struggling to find their way. Fortunately, effort hasn’t slowed down on the supportive hashtag #TelltaleJobs, hopefully helping them land on their feet in the near future.

KitGuru Says: I can imagine just how bitter the taste must be in the mouths of many former Telltale employees, however it’s admirable that Skybound is trying to do right by both the staff and the game. Still, our thoughts continue to go out to those affected by the fallout and we wish them the best of luck.

After the collapse of Telltale Games, the last two episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season were left in limbo with many questioning whether or not they will see the light of day. Now, the creator of the original comic book has revealed that his company, Skybound Games will see Clementine’s story through to completion.

The news was initially announced at New York Comic Con, with Kirkman stating “We've successfully negotiated with Telltale Games for our company Skybound to come in and see Season 4 of the Telltale game to completion.” This was shortly followed by a tweet seeing the news go viral.

“Just stay tuned. Everybody involved is trying to make sure Clementine's story is told,” Kirkman explained at the panel. “It's a very unfortunate situation, but hopefully we will come out of it in some kind of positive way. I am not concerned at the moment with having to tell the story in comic book form because I'm hoping that the games will eventually be completed.”

Continuing the good news, IGN reports that Kirkman’s studio will also be working with members of the original Telltale team, however it hasn’t been disclosed just how many will be brought on board the project now that The Final Season belongs to Skybound Games in its entirety. Without Telltale being involved directly, it also doesn’t alleviate the more pressing concerns of staff being released from their contract without the severance pay that they’re owed.

KitGuru Says: While it’s great to see the property fall into the hands of someone who will passionately see it through, I just hope that all of the staff continuing to look for other employment get picked up on this project. Now that you know it’s going to be completed, does this make you want to pick up The Walking Dead: The Final Season when it goes back on sale?

Telltale’s unexpected closure has sparked numerous debates across social media, all centred around working conditions within the video game industry. The most recent #AsAGamesWorker hashtag collects criticism from professionals in hopes of putting “the well being of game developers in the forefront.”

Two weeks ago, 225 professional developers lost their job and with it their fundamental means to live. As of this week, all who haven’t managed to find another place of employment have lost health insurance that covered both themselves, and in some cases their families. This is a sad case that happens all too often in the video game industry, from Fable creator Lionhead Studios in 2016 to EA-owned Visceral Games in 2017, Capcom Vancouver just last month and many, many more studios both large and small.

While Telltale specifically has seen overwhelming support from the video game industry in the form of its #TelltaleJobs hashtag, many of these voices get drowned out by the public focusing on the games potentially lost by a studio going defunct. This prompted Warner Bros. Montreal designer Osama Dorias to create a new hashtag in hopes of redefining work conditions across the board.

The Twitter campaign has allowed both former and current employees from ArenaNet, Blizzard, Ubisoft and many others to air their grievances with the industry, highlighting job security and exploitative overtime practices in particular. Developer crunch is a widespread practice that has become the centre of discussion across this year, as studios are prompted to further protect employees from mental and physical exhaustion.

It’s unclear how much of an impact #AsAGamesWorker will make on the industry, but with hundreds of participants attempting to get their voice heard, it will be difficult for studios to ignore.

KitGuru Says: The episodic nature of The Walking Dead: The Final Season does bring forth the discussion of where the remaining game is, as people have already paid for the product. While these developers respect that, the debate is that it should never take precedence over the lives of the developers behind video games.

Despite its sudden closure, the remainder of Telltale pushed out the second episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season at the start of the week and provided hope towards finishing the series with undisclosed partners. While logistics are discussed behind the scenes, the studio has now unsurprisingly removed the game from digital stores.

Yesterday, Telltale withdrew the unfinished final season of it’s The Walking Dead series from the majority of digital storefronts, including Steam, GOG, Microsoft’s Xbox Store, and the PlayStation Store in the US. Strangely the UK version of Sony’s PlayStation Store and Nintendo’s eShop still list the title as available, although this is expected to change in the near future.

“We have removed season passes for The Walking Dead: The Final Season from stores for the time being,” Telltale explained in a statement to Polygon. “We are currently still working to find a way to hand off production of episodes 3 and 4 so that the season can be completed. The outcome of those efforts will determine when and how The Final Season returns to stores.”

Telltale has remained open to the possibility of concluding its series, however it has remained distinctly vague on how this might be achieved. Its skeleton crew of 25 remaining a part of the studio have dedicated themselves to finishing Minecraft: Story Mode to fulfil half of its deal with Netflix, and potential partners remain undisclosed.

Even if a partner was to be found, the logistics behind such a deal seem like a potential headache after unceremoniously firing 90 percent of its workforce without severance pay, allegedly breaking labour laws that have resulted in a class-action lawsuit. This is led by former employee Vernie Roberts, who highlights the state’s WARN act, stating that the 60-day notice requirement was not met before conducting mass layoffs.

KitGuru Says: Even if the lawsuit does complicate the possibility of seeing Clementine’s finale come to life, real lives are much more important. Hopefully former Telltale staff manage to find their feet.

Telltale might be closing down but the company is far from out of the woods just yet. Last Friday, Telltale let go of 90 percent of its workforce, offering no severance pay. Now, a class-action lawsuit is in the works, alleging that Telltale violated labour laws.

The complaint was filed on Monday at a San Francisco federal court and was submitted by former Telltale employee, Vernie Roberts, on behalf of all affected workers. As Polygon reports, the complaint says that Telltale let go of its employees “without cause” and without offering “advance written notice”, which is required by the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act- or WARN for short.

The WARN act has been in place since the late 1980s and makes it so that businesses with at least 100 full-time employees have to be notified of any closings or mass layoffs 60 days ahead of time. A mass layoff would constitute the firing of 50 or more employees. In this case, Telltale let go of over 200. In California, where Telltale is based, there is a state-level extension of the WARN Act, which makes it so that both full-time and part-time employees need to be notified ahead of mass lay-offs.

The class-action lawsuit is seeking a jury trial in addition to compensation equal to the amount of 60 days wages and benefits, which former Telltale employees would have received if the WARN Act was followed. Anything can happen in court, so it isn't certain that this lawsuit will win or make it to trial. There are exceptions to the WARN Act, including “unforeseeable business circumstances”. Telltale's lawyers could argue that closure wasn't on the table until the week all things fell apart, although it may have a hard time of doing that given that a round of lay-offs were conducted in late 2017, signalling that financial issues were present.

KitGuru Says: This whole Telltale situation has been a mess and hard workers are paying the price for it. In addition, it has also cost the company's customers, as The Walking Dead's Final Season continues to remain on sale with no assurance that it will ever be finished. The only thing we can do now is sit back and wait to see how this plays out.

Telltale Games might be shutting down but that hasn't deterred Netflix's ambitions for a game based on Stranger Things. Before the closure was announced, Telltale was supposed to take the project on for Netflix, in addition to Minecraft: Story Mode. While Telltale will no longer be able to fulfill the role, Netflix has confirmed that it is pursuing other options.

As part of Telltale's closure, over 200 employees were let go on the spot and almost all current projects were canceled, including The Wolf Among Us 2, The situation has also cast doubt on whether or not The Walking Dead: Final Season will be finished. In the meantime, a skeleton crew of around 25 employees will be finishing up  Minecraft: Story Mode for Netflix.

strangerthings.jpg

As for Stranger Things, the project might now be further away than originally planned, but a game based on the hit series will see the light of day at some point.

Speaking with Polygon, a Netflix spokesperson said: “We are saddened by news about Telltale Games. They developed many great games in the past and left an indelible mark in the industry. Minecraft: Story Mode is still moving forward as planned. We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium.”

There is no word yet on who might take on the project now but we'll keep an eye out for any updates on that front.

KitGuru Says: This whole Telltale situation has been a bit of a mess. The company was still hiring new employees up until a week ago, The Walking Dead: Final Season just launched its first episode and other fan requested games were in the works. From the outside looking in, the studio seemed to be in fine shape. Who do you think should fill the void left by Telltale? I wouldn't be surprised if the team behind Life is Strange took on the mantle.

Across the weekend, staff at Telltale Games were devastated by the sudden closure of the studio, prompting a wave of discussion in the video game industry. Caught in the crossfire is the last two episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season, however it seems that Telltale has offered a lifeline as it is working with potential partners to finish its hard work.

Although Telltale Games had a turbulent year, all seemed to be looking up for the studio with its impending switch to the Unity engine and hiring of staff less than a week prior to the shocking termination of its employees. 225 employees were sadly left to find another job, prompting the industry to come together to create the trending hashtag #TelltaleJobs on Twitter. Housed within the hashtag is an overwhelming amount of video game studios reaching out to help, including Blizzard, Ubisoft, Guerrilla Games, Riot Games and many more.

Unfortunately, not all news was welcome. Displeased fans of Telltale’s The Walking Dead were left wondering what fate would befall the unfinished title, particularly as it concerned a product that had been paid for but would potentially go unfulfilled. Left in limbo, many took to harassing the former employees, going as far as to demand that they work for free. Fortunately for all affected by the tribulation, there’s a possibility that Clementine’s story will get told after all.

In a statement posted to Twitter, Telltale revealed that “multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion.” The studio kept hush on who these potential partners may be, and stressed that this was not a guarantee of any kind while talks are still in motion.

Many are still sceptical about the whole ordeal, stating that it would be a difficult process with the original team gone, particularly having left on such unceremonious terms. There are also ethical concerns given that each and every member of staff was released without severance due to a “complete financial shutdown,” although this likely remains a lifeline for the IP rather than the studio itself. Whatever the case, eyes are firmly fixated on the future of the series, and what lies ahead for the talented developers that brought it to life in the first place.

KitGuru Says: While it is unacceptable for a company to leave its customers out of pocket under any circumstance, it’s certainly not the obligation of former developers who have been burned by the situation themselves. It would be interesting to see where the IPs and staff land moving forward. What would you like to see happen to The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and the remaining properties?

In a roller-coaster of news regarding what Telltale might reveal at its San Diego Comic-Con Summer Update, the studio warned fans not to get their hopes up in the wrong direction. It turns out that this was a red herring, as the developer has finally announced a highly anticipated second season of The Wolf Among Us, as well as revealing Batman: The Enemy Within and The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

The upcoming second season of The Wolf Among Us will see the return of Bigby and Snow White alongside a bunch of new characters in new arcs. As Telltale has always intended, the next instalment will act as a standalone story, leaving the conclusion to the first season purposefully ambiguous. Fans will have to wait another year, as The Wolf Among Us Season 2 is expected in 2018 after the release of The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

The fourth and final season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead will return focus onto Clementine, ending her story arc as she attempts to find AJ. With a 2018 release, this will complete the 6-year journey of the core series that started out back in 2012. However, since the developer has released a spin-off that focused on Micchonne last year, it is unclear if this will be the final time that Telltale steps into the world of The Walking Dead.

While we wait for those to release next year, Telltale will be releasing a follow-up to last year’s Batman: The Telltale Series this August. Season 2 will be titled Batman: The Enemy Within, continuing the unique Bruce Wayne / Batman dynamic present in the first and allowing returning players to carry over their decisions into the new story. The trailer places focus on expanding The Joker’s character while introducing The Riddler.

“In this latest chapter, both Bruce Wayne and Batman will be forced into precarious new roles. The Riddler has returned to terrorize Gotham City, but his gruesome puzzles merely foreshadow an even greater crisis. With the arrival of a ruthless federal agent and the return of a still nascent Joker, Batman must navigate uneasy alliances while Bruce Wayne undertakes a perilous series of deceptions. Which of Batman's new allies will you choose to trust? And how deep into the darkness will you let Bruce descend?”

KitGuru Says: It’s been a long time coming, but fans can finally rejoice in knowing that they can return to the neo-noir, crime-ridden world of The Wolf Among Us. I also find it interesting that Telltale has chosen to end its core entries of The Walking Dead, but this will result in it being remembered as a solid series throughout its run. Are you excited for any of the upcoming Telltale titles? What’s been your favourite so far?

Telltale has some announcements to make later this week, so in preparation for that, you can currently get your hands on most of the studio's games for $15. This is all thanks to the latest Humble Bundle, which includes The Walking Dead season 1 & 2 as well as the Michonne spin-off. Tales from the Borderlands, Game of Thrones, Minecraft Story Mode and Batman are also up for grabs.

As usual, there are three tiers for the monthly Humble Bundle, the $1 tier will get you Telltale's Texas Hold ‘Em and Poker Night games, as well as Puzzle Agent 1 & 2, Sam & Max season 1 & 2, The Walking Dead Season 1, Bone and Hector: Badge of Carnage. If you are willing to beat the average donation, which is $8.35 at the time of writing, you will also get access to The Walking Dead Season 2, The Walking Dead: Michonne, Tales from the Borderlands, Game of Thrones and a 50 percent off code for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier.

Finally, if you are willing to donate $15, you will also get access to Batman: The Telltale Series, Minecraft; Story Mode and the adventure pass. More games will be added to the ‘beat the average' tier next week and more games may unlock in the $15 tier. Announcements on that will be coming next week.

For those who don't know how the monthly Humble Bundle works, it is a charity initiative. Donations can be split three ways, with some money going to the developers, some to charity and some to the Humble Store. However, you can also choose to have all of your money go to one specific place.

KitGuru Says: Telltale has had some hits and misses over the last few years but for the most part, this seems like a solid lineup. It would be nice to see The Wolf Among Us included though, in addition to Guardians of the Galaxy. What do you guys think of the Telltale humble bundle?

Update: In a surprise move, the Telltale Summer Update 2017 has revealed that there will be a season 2 of The Wolf Among Us, along with a new entry to its Batman and The Walking Dead series. Season 2 will be a separate entry to the first season, leaving the cliffhanger unresolved, but will feature many new characters as well as the return of old ones.

Yesterday, we started hearing that Telltale might be planning to announce a second season of The Wolf Among Us at the San Diego Comic-Con this week. Speculation was running rampant and fans did start getting excited. However, Telltale was quick to shoot down the rumours, warning on Twitter that it doesn't want fans to get their hopes up “in the wrong direction”.

In response to tweets about Telltale's Wolf Among Us plans, the studio's head of communications, J Stauffer, warned against “people getting their hopes up in the wrong direction”.

Stauffer did go on to sympathise with potentially disappointed fans, adding that Telltale would love to go back to The Wolf Among Us at some point, particularly if there is fan demand.

Telltale has provided clearer answers on the possible continuation of The Wolf Among Us, as well as another favourite, Tales from the Borderlands in the form of an AMA on its The Walking Dead subreddit.

Regarding The Wolf Among Us, if the studio were to dive back into that world, it would not be a direct continuation as it is meant to be ambiguous and up to fan interpretation. Instead, it would involve other stories.

“We have been asked over and over again for some insight into the mystery at the end of the finale for TWAU. Something I've always wanted to admit is that while we do have a clear answer to who was who at the end of that story… we had also agreed to keep it a mystery for the fans to ponder on their own,” Telltale's Job Stauffer wrote. “Definitely fun to see all of the theories pour out, and exciting to pay off our neon-noir story with a femme fatale twist. Should we ever continue in the world of Fables and The Wolf Among Us… it is generally agreed upon here that we wouldn't continue that storyline directly, and would leave things an open mystery that's better left unanswered….”

Tales from the Borderlands is a slightly different story, as the IP is back in the hands of Gearbox.

“While there are currently no plans for us to continue the story on the Telltale side, we do know that our friends at Gearbox and 2K are hard at work on what's next for the Borderlands universe. We know that also means if anything happens Rhys, Fiona and the gang… the ball is in their court to see whether they will or will not be explored again in any possible future entry into that universe. We're big fans of Borderlands as well, obviously, so here's hoping Tales isn't the last we'll ever see of those characters!”

Of course, this means that we are almost certain to see the release of the teased Borderlands 3 before Tales is continued.

KitGuru Says: This will be disappointing news for some, while not entirely unexpected. I would love to see The Wolf Among Us come to life again but I am sure whatever the developer has in store will be great for fans of the adventure genre. What are you hoping to see revealed at the panel?

The Wolf Among Us is certainly one of Telltale’s most beloved games, with fans still eager to return to the world several years later. Fans of the original may just get their wish too, as this week, Telltale is said to be unveiling details on The Wolf Among Us Season Two at a San Diego Comic-Con panel.

Telltale tweeted out the following image to gather hype for its upcoming Summer 2017 update. The caption reads: “News coming this week during #SDCC”, with the convention set to begin in a few days time, it won’t be a long wait to find out exactly what the developer has in store.

The interesting link to The Wolf Among Us comes in the form of voice actor Adam Harrigton retweeting the teaser. Harrington’s involvement has sparked rumours of the series’ return as he is known for playing the lead role of Bigby Wolf as well as The Woodsman. That being said, he has taken part in other Telltale series, having played LeChuck in Tales of Monkey Island, Kroger in Tales from the Borderlands and most recently Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series.

While the potential for The Wolf Among Us Season 2 or even Tales of the Borderlands now seems on the cards, a rating has popped up from the Film and Labelling Body of New Zealand for a new Batman game. The title is listed as Batman: The Enemy Within – Season Pass, listing Telltale Games’ very own Kent Mudle as director.

Telltale is known for working on multiple series at once, so the best case scenario is that there is something for everyone in the Summer 2017 update but only time will tell.

KitGuru Says: I absolutely loved The Wolf Among Us and would appreciate stepping into the role of the Big Bad Wolf once more. That being said, I’d also be happy with a new Batman or Borderlands title as both deserve sequels. What are you looking forward to from the reveal? What was your favourite Telltale series?

If you have been waiting to see what's next for Clementine in Telltale's The Walking Dead series then look no further as it was announced at PAX West this weekend that season 3 will be starting in November. The new season even has a fancy new subtitle ‘A New Frontier', which is a little hint at what we can expect from the next batch of episodes.

This new season takes place around four years after the outbreak started, so we can expect to see how the state of the world continues to affect survivors.

TWD

While teasing season 3, Telltale's Kevin Bruner spoke about some of what we can expect: “As a harrowing and horrific drama, ‘A New Frontier' will explore beyond what it means to survive in a world ravaged by the undead, and will see our characters confronting the new rules of order and justice in a land being brutally reclaimed and rediscovered by what's left of humanity itself.”

Aside from that, the new season also has a new poster, which you can find over on Telltale's site, here.

KitGuru Says: While I didn't enjoy The Walking Dead season 2 quite as much as the original, I'll probably dive back in for season 3 to see what happens next. Have any of you been keeping up with the Telltale Walking Dead games? Will you be picking up season 3?

Making a game about hacking is not easy, especially if you want it to go beyond a blinking terminal. NightSchool and Telltale games may have found an innovative solution for a game based on the Mr Robot TV series though, by creating a real-time, text-adventure, where you interact entirely through SMS messages.

For the unaware, Mr Robot is a show about a young digital security consultant, who finds himself wrapped up in a much larger plot to hack apart the largest corporation in the world. Players of the Mr Robot:1.51exfiltrati0n app will too find themselves a part of the grand plot, but they won't be doing hacking of their own.

mrrobot01 mrrobot05

The gameplay in this title is entirely through conversational texts sent back and forth between you and various people in the world of Mr Robot. Much like many Telltale games, the options you pick will impact the story and perhaps even influence the outcome.

That should come as no surprise, as though this game is being made by Oxenfree creator, NightSchool Studios, it was written by company founder and ex-Telltale head writer, Adam Hines. He previously headed up the writing on the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIasj_1eBMQ']

Writing for this one was a little different of course, since the characters, setting and medium of interaction are entirely different. The story also plays out in real time, taking place over the course of a week, so you won't be able to blitz through it all in a few hours.

Because of that there are no full reviews from people who have finished this game yet, but early impressions are strong, with good reviews on both the iOS and Play stores.

The app costs £2.80 and is available now.

KitGuru Says: I've just started watching Mr Robot myself, so I'll get through a few more episodes before giving this one a try I think, give me a bit more context for what happens.

Another day and another Batman game released with a list of performance issues. With the debut of Telltale's detective-focused Batman game, a number of users reported terrible performance issues, but fortunately Telltale has released a patch for it, which seems to have cleared up problems for the most part.

Although the majority of those who ordered Batman: The Telltale Series on Steam found the game ran fine when they launched it, a good number didn't. Of those that had a tough time, graphical problems were abound, from getting stuck in menus, to the game crashing on startup, to terrible performance in single digit frame rates.

Fortunately Telltale reacted quickly to the complaints and issued a quick patch to fix the problems people were facing. It claims that the reason some experienced such surprisingly poor performance, was that for some reason the game was trying to run on integrated graphics, rather than via the dedicated graphics card/chips their systems had in place.

telltalebatman

That should now be fixed, but if performance still isn't great, Telltale has also added an option to lower graphical settings to be more performance focused, or raise them to be more aesthetics focused if that is preferable. Recent reviews on Steam seem to suggest that this has cleared up the issue, as just yesterday many hundreds of reviews claiming poor performance rolled in.

At the time of writing, most recent reviews paint the game in a stronger light.

There was no doubt some concern among fans and Telltale staff alike, that Batman: The Telltale Series' problems were a result of the newly revamped game engine that it used. This is the same engine it used to develop the upcoming Walking Dead Season 3 too, so performance problems could suggest that game will suffer issues too.

However this is the same engine under the hood, just an updated one, and the Telltale Tool has been notorious in the past for its little graphical quirks and stutters during games. It's not too surprising that it's run into a few problems with a new game release.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Telltale also recommended gamers experiencing issues update their graphical drivers too. That's often my fault when I run into an issue with a game. I'm not great with keeping my drivers up to date.

[Thanks EG]

Another game has been added to the busy October release line-up. This time it's TellTale's Minecraft: Story Mode, which was announced earlier this year. The game will be similar to TellTale's other titles in that it will also be a point and click adventure.

The game is launching on the PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 worldwide on the 13th of October. PlayStation Vita and Wii U versions have been announced previously but do not have a release date just yet. Over the summer at Minecon 2015, we learned quite a bit about the game, with a new trailer:

In Minecraft: Story Mode, you will take on the role of Jesse, who is voiced by Patton Oswalt. Jesse and his friends embark on a quest to find the Order of the Stone, a group of adventurers that slayed an Ender Dragon and helped save the world. Now a new threat has arisen and the needs to be saved once again.

Like all other TellTale games, this will be a five part episodic release with the first episode releasing in October. We don't know when the other episodes will release just yet.

KitGuru Says: TellTale has made a name for itself thanks to its point and click adventure games. Though I do wonder if people will start to grow tired of them. Either way, it will be interesting to see how the studio approaches Minecraft.

It's been several weeks since the end of season five of the Game of Thrones TV show, and with the programme finally catching up with the books in many respects, it's left fans of the Ice and Fire universe salivating with anticipating for Winds of Winter and season six. Fortunately in the mean time Telltale's Game of Thrones episodic, conversational simulator will help keep us occupied. In the build up to the release of episode five, we have a number of new screenshots to whet out appetite.

The episode is titled A Nest of Vipers, so I presume the large castle is a representation of Sunspear (though perhaps a more learned Ice and Fire fan can correct me). However what is recognisable is the situation that Ashe finds himself in. Facing down a monstrous brute and seemingly fighting to survive in a pit like scenario.

asif05 asif02

Things aren't so hot for Mira either, who once again finds herself tied to Tyrion as he wastes away in jail, with wine of course. She's also present in Cersei's company which is not somewhere that anyone wants to be. Apart from if you're Lancel or Jaime Lannister I suppose.

asif04 asif03

Perhaps the episode will end on a high note though, as from the last screenshot it looks like Ashe may have finally made his way to Westeros. Though with what sort of army in tow, we'll have to wait and see.

The Nest of Vipers will be available before the end of the month.

KitGuru Says: I've been thoroughly enjoying my playthrough of Telltale's Game of Thrones series. While as usual the choices don't make a huge difference to the direction of the plot, it's certainly let me play the characters how I see them.

On my second playthrough I've just been making everyone arse holes.

We heard that TellTale was put in charge of making a single player ‘Minecraft: Story Mode' for Microsoft a while back and now this weekend at Minecon, some new details about the game have been announced. Like with every other TellTale game, it is set to be an episodic adventure series and choices will be involved in the game.

We now have a new trailer for the game, the description of which reads: “Minecraft: Story Mode is an adventure game, by Telltale Games, set in a Minecraft world. It is a five-part episodic series that will take you to the Nether, the Farlands, the End, and beyond! You will drive how the story flows through the decisions you make: what you say to people (and how you say it), and what you choose to do in moments of thrilling action.”

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAnRtMEDrvU']

Players will take control of the protagonist known as Jesse throughout the game, who will be voiced by the actor/comedian Patton Oswalt. The story gets a bit deeper though, the description goes on to say: “Jesse and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone; four adventurers who slayed an Ender Dragon. The Order is the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion.”

So there you have it, Minecraft: Story Mode will finally bring lore to the world of Minecraft, with new lands and legends spread throughout the world.

KitGuru Says: TellTale has found its niche with its point and click adventure titles. The developer is now in charge of fleshing out the Minecraft world a little bit with story content, although the plot sounds pretty similar to what we see in medieval RPGs fairly often.

Telltale Games is the latest studio to begin supporting GOG and its DRM-free initiative. Kicking things off with Telltale's Game of Thrones series, which is now available via GOG and playable via the newly launched GOG Galaxy client. The publisher's other popular titles are expected to appear on the store soon.

The Walking Dead, Tales from Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us will all be landing on GOG soon. If you have yet to buy Telltale's Game of Thrones, then GOG has it at 40 per cent off to celebrate the launch on its platform.

“Thanks to GOG Galaxy, we're able to bring in major new titles, and the award-winning Telltale series are a prime example of that”, says Guillaume Rambourg, Managing Director at GOG.com in a press release.  “Gamers finally get to enjoy the engaging, story-driven adventures DRM-free: anywhere and at any time – but also benefit from achievements and other optional GOG Galaxy features if they want to. It's the freedom of choice that GOG.com is all about.”

Since the launch of GOG Galaxy, publishers have been giving GOG much more attention as a platform and Telltale is likely just the beginning. The door is now open for more high budget, triple A titles to go DRM-free.

If the past few years of various blockbuster hits about superheroes and their relatively bumbling sidekicks have taught us anything, it's that the pay off is the action sequences. That translates over into their games too, though rarely are the tie ins that great – unless they're Lego. Still, that may not be the case with the newly announced Marvel game from Telltale, as the studio is much more well known for its point and click conversational epics than anything else.

Details on the ground are incredibly thin for this game and that's not too surprising at this point, since it's not slated for release until 2017 – so there is plenty of time for build up. It could theoretically act as a middle-ground between the newly released Age of Ultron and the next film, Infinity War Part I, which will release in May 2018 if all goes to plan.

marvel

However since Telltale does indeed love a good talky game, there is the potential for players to take on the role of more minor characters, perhaps dealing with the world-saving, but often economically catastrophic fallout that superheroes regularly leave in their wake.

Whatever guess we want to take about what the new game will be like, that's probably all it will be for some time yet, but partnering with Marvel is a significant move for Telltale and shows that in the minds of industry as well as gamers, it's not dropping the ball with its licenses.

With today's launch of the next episode in TellTale's Game of Thrones spin-off series, it's time for a new trailer to whet our appetite. Indeed this episode will need to as well, with the fifth season of the TV show also not far away, TellTale wouldn't want to go scaring off any fans of the series, though judging by the drama and action showcased in this short trailer, that seems quite unlikely.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6d2EYm6KJI']

The game looks to continue the story of all of the principle characters set up in previous episodes – well, those that have made it this far anyway – though not all of them appear to be heading in the direction they initially set off in, especially considering what Ashe bumps into at the end of the trailer. He seems like he's headed in entirely the opposite in-fact.

This is one of those opportunities when I'll probably choose to say nothing

Still, his brother has a handle on things to an extent and there is always Mira who's been scheming away in King's landing. Who she trusts though looks to be a big element of this upcoming episode, as alliances rise and fall with Cersei's jealousy and paranoia looming over everything. Will you remain loyal to Margaery, or to Tyrion?

This latest episode, titled “The Sword in the Darkness,” is available now on PC/Mac from various sources and on the PlayStation 3 and 4 in North America. However international console gamers and Xbox users will have to wait until tomorrow, when it launches on the PS3 and PS4 around the world and the One and 360 simultaneously.

Mobile and tablet gamers will get a look in on the 26th.

Telltale Games has been in the business of modernising the point and click adventure genre for many years and blew a lot people away with the emotional depth of characters in The Walking Dead, despite the low levels of interaction. While The Wolf Among Us might have garnered a fair amount of praise too, it's the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off that has a lot of people excited and now we have the first detail of the very first episode: it's name.

It's called Iron From Ice and as with most of Telltale's productions, it will be one of six episodes, spread throughout a few months. Details beyond that are a little thin on the ground, but we did get this image, perhaps suggesting that while we'll be dealing with more minor characters than those seen in the show, they will still be influencing the most powerful seat in Westeros.

The PR director at Telltale also recently tweeted that we would soon be hearing the first story details of the game, stating that we'd be learning more about “House Forrester.” This is a name that appeared on the game's official site, stating that the game would involve hunters and trackers that were loyal to Deepwood.

One of the problems with game adaptations of epic fantasy worlds, is that they often make them the subject of the wrong thing. In Lord of the Rings games, as much as we love playing as ‘Aragorn', the story and the real struggle is with Frodo. Likewise in Game of Thrones, games are often about warriors and battles, when the real conflict is behind the scenes in the political relationships pulling the strings. Perhaps though when Telltale's episodic take on the Game of Thrones universe is released, we'll have a better approximation of that hidden struggle and sooner rather than later, as it's coming out before the end of the year.

The latest official line has been that the game will be release in “Q4 2014,” though if that's based on the financial year, it could take us into the early months of 2015. However, after several fans pressed for a release date on Twitter, community and PR manager for Telltale, Laura Perusco, said that while there was “no specific release date announced yet,” she could confirm “that the season IS premièring later this year.”

gameofthrones

That's a little more concrete than we knew otherwise.

A trailer was released for the game way back in December 2013, but it showed essentially nothing, just serving to tease us about the future potential of the series.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjiVZdg6lng']

We can take a guess from the official site, that the game will be focused around previously unexplored side characters in the world of Game of Thrones, potentially focusing on “trackers and hunters sworn to Deepwood, with clan names like Forrester and Woods, Branch and Bole.”

Gameplay is expected to be similar to Telltale's other adventure games, like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, where players interact with the environment in a point and click fashion, but there's an increased focus on conversation and character interaction.

KitGuru Says: This is a game I'm pretty well excited for. It will be interesting to see what sort of time it's set too, as regardless it could give us some more backstory to some of the world's most scandalous events.

Season 2 of TellTale's Walking Dead series is coming to an end, the fifth and final episode has a release date, along with a new trailer but be warned- it does contain spoilers for season one and earlier episodes of season 2.

Last year's Walking Dead Season One game was a huge hit, selling plenty of copies. However, not everybody likes the episodic release format, causing many to wait it out until the final episode is out. The finale will release on the PC and Mac worldwide on the 26th of August, US based PS3 and PS Vita owners will also receive the game on the same day. European PS3 and Vita owners, along with worldwide Xbox 360 owners will get the game the day after on the 27th of August. The few of you that play on iOS will get the game on the 28th of August.

Here's the trailer, which does contain spoilers:
