To close out last week, Ubisoft held a stream unveiling what's next for The Division franchise. With The Division 2 getting a fifth year of updates, many have wondered if native versions of the game would arrive for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles. However, Ubisoft says such a move is unlikely.

Speaking with MP1st, The Division 2 creative director, Yannick Banchereau, explained that due to the fact that most of the player base is still on Xbox One and PS4, Ubisoft does not want to move the game over to new-gen consoles, as it would come at the expense of support for the previous generation.

“We still have a lot of players that play on all generations and we are not ready to leave them behind and ask them to upgrade”, Yannick says. “Right now we are trying to make sure every time we add something, it still runs smoothly on the old gen as well.”

If you are looking for a next-gen The Division experience, then you will likely be waiting for The Division 3, if a major sequel is ever made. Right now, aside from continued development on The Division 2, Ubisoft is also working on a mobile and free-to-play console/PC spin-offs.

KitGuru Says: The argument seems to be that The Division 2 could not implement new features that take full advantage of new-gen hardware without sacrificing support for previous-gen console users. I think it is more likely that there simply aren't enough active players to justify the investment. The Division 2 likely would have ceased development earlier if Ubisoft didn't need to keep the franchise alive long enough for its new round of free-to-play spin-offs.

While we know that Ubisoft has multiple games set in The Division universe in development, it has been a long time since we had any official news. That will change this week, with Ubisoft planning an event to showcase the “future of The Division franchise”.

On the 20th of April (tomorrow, at the time of publishing), Ubisoft will host a Division Day livestream, with plans to give us the latest updates on The Division 2's Year 5 roadmap and two previously announced Division spin-off games:

As we can see in the preview, we will be getting new looks at The Division Heartland and The Division Resurgence during this stream. Both games have previously been announced but target slightly different markets.

The Division Resurgence is a mobile game, aiming to bring as much of the full Division experience as possible to iOS and Android devices. Meanwhile, Heartland is a free-to-play game aimed at PC and console gamers, offering two streamlined modes, one for PvE battles and another for PvP.

KitGuru Says: I was a big fan of The Division when the first game came out but I'm not a huge fan of this switch to free-to-play spin-offs. With that said, we'll get to see tomorrow how these projects are shaping up and I am open to being surprised.

While Ubisoft is more than willing to kill off less-than-successful live service titles, the ones that do succeed tend to receive MANY years of updates. One such title is The Division 2. Released in 2019, the game is set to soon get its 11th season however due to a new massive bug this update has now been delayed indefinitely.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the Division 2 development team said “Dear Agents,

Last week, we shared news that the season would be delayed due to a localization issue. This past Saturday, in the process of creating the update which would resolve the issue, we encountered an error that brought down the build generation system for The Division 2. As a result, we cannot update the game until this system has been rebuilt.”

This isn’t the first time a season of The Division has been delayed, however it does seem to be the most serious so far, with the team explaining that “In the past, when a Season was delayed, we extended the previous Season's activities. Unfortunately, this is not possible in the current situation, as we are unable to make server or client side updates until the build generation system is restored.”

They concluded by claiming “We are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. We have made good progress over the last 96 hours and have been able to restore critical aspects of the system and will share the timeline for resolution when available. We deeply appreciate your understanding and patience and will share our in-game compensation plan details soon. Our next update will be provided tomorrow.”

It is interesting to see that in the process of trying to fix a bug, the team seemingly accidentally caused even greater damage. It is encouraging at least to see the team being open with fans. As they said, hopefully this is fixed soon.

After multiple delays, Ubisoft Massive has finally begun rolling out new content for The Division 2. This year's big content update is a brand new game mode, called ‘Countdown', although Ubisoft isn't openly talking about it due to current world events.

Ubisoft announced that the new update for The Division 2 would go live on the Public Test Server for PC today and as promised, the update has brought a new game mode, which should bring some players back in following the lengthy content hiatus. At the time of announcement, Ubisoft simply confirmed that the new game mode would be available, but did not elaborate on what the new mode was.

Countdown is a mode set in a nuclear power plant, with an attacking team trying to capture the area, and a defending team trying to stop them. Due to the themes, which parallel with the on-going war in Ukraine, Ubisoft is keeping quiet on the specific details of this new mode, but it is downloadable and playable right now, so the secret is out.

If you don't feel like downloading The Division 2 all over again, but are interested in seeing what the new game mode is like, then you can find multiple gameplay videos on YouTube right now. Ubisoft should reveal more itself once the update is ready to roll out to the game's main servers on PC and consoles.

KitGuru Says: I was never a huge fan of the PvP in The Division. The new mode seems interesting but it is understandable why Ubisoft isn't actively advertising or making any noise about the specific details. Are any of you planning on trying out the new mode?

Back in December 2020, Ubisoft Massive released Title Update 12 for The Division 2, which was set to be the game's final content update. A few weeks later in early 2021, the team confirmed that due to fan demand, it would be releasing more content, which was later delayed to 2022. Now, we've finally received a new development update, with a new game mode entering playtesting.

Initially planned for February 2022, the new update is now entering the public test servers for The Division 2, allowing users to test out the new game mode and “significant endgame changes”.

Preloading for the update starts today and the public test server will open up to PC players on the 1st of April at 10AM BST. The announcement notes that planned changes to The Division 2's Specializations will now be coming later in the year and won't be part of this initial update.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft has not gone into much more detail on the content of this update, in part due to The Division 2's themes and the parallels with current world events. We should get more thorough details on the new game mode and other changes tomorrow once playtesting begins.

Back in December 2020, Ubisoft Massive released Title Update 12 for The Division 2, which was set to be the game's final content update. A few weeks later in early 2021, the team confirmed that due to fan demand, it would be releasing more content this year. However, over time, the scope of this project appears to have shifted and as a result, the developers will need more time.

The Division 2 will get its next major content update in February 2022, giving the team time to ensure it is “on par” with their vision while not compromising on quality. The update will make “significant endgame changes” and add new features to shake things up for veteran players.

“Earlier this year, we shared our commitment to continue to support The Division 2 and work with new partners within Ubisoft to keep on improving the game experience for all our players. Since then, our team has been hard at work to develop exciting new content with a new game mode as well as significant endgame changes & features.”

“Since then, we made various iterations on the plans and actively challenged ourselves not to compromise on quality and ambitions for this new content. This title Update will be one of our most ambitious to date”, Ubisoft said. “We remain confident that this content will bring an exciting experience to our players and pave the way for the future of The Division 2 with future title updates coming in 2022. That being said, and to make sure we deliver this content on par with our vision, we have made the decision to move our new season, game mode and associated content release to February 2022.”

Things have been very quiet on the content front for The Division 2 this year, with players going through re-runs of old events and content throughout the year. In 2022, new content will finally begin rolling out, putting an end to this somewhat lengthy drought.

KitGuru Says: As much as I enjoyed The Division 2, I do wonder how many people will be jumping back in next year after such a long hiatus. With that said, if this new game mode and the endgame changes are good enough, then a resurgence in popularity is certainly possible.

A few weeks ago, Ubisoft Massive announced that it would be delivering new content for The Division 2 this year. Now, the studio has revealed its roadmap, which will include re-runs of old seasonal content for a few months, leading up to a big update later in the year.

Initially, The Division 2 was due to end in December 2020, following its 12th update. However, due to fan demand, the studio committed to another year of work on the game. Content updates will pick up again soon, starting with a re-run of Season 5 content.

By re-running seasons, The Division 2 can continue bringing players in while the developers work on the next proper update, which is currently in the early stages of development.

Development on this update “will take several months to complete”, promising to include “a game mode that is entirely new to the franchise”. The developers also want to improve variety and viability of character builds.

While the developers at Ubisoft Massive had planned for Title Update 12 to be the last piece of content for The Division 2, it seems those plans have now changed. The December 2020 update wrapped up the game's content roadmap, but due to player interest, Ubisoft is now making plans for more content in 2021.

In an announcement from the developer team, it was confirmed that “additional content for The Division 2 will be released later this year”.

“Some of you had noticed that Title Update 12 was originally meant to be the last major Title Update for The Division 2, but thanks to your continued support, we are now in the early stages of development for fresh content to release later in 2021.”

While The Division 2 will be getting new content, it is unlikely to get another meaty expansion like Warlords of New York. At this point, Ubisoft Massive has a deal with LucasFilm Games to produce an open-world Star Wars title, which is going to be their main project for the next few years.

KitGuru Says: We don't know what form this new Division 2 content will take, but it sounds like we can expect another season of updates sometime in the future. Have many of you been keeping up with The Division 2 and its content updates over the last year?

The developers behind The Division 2 have been a bit quiet over the last few months but it looks like the game is going to start 2021 off strong. While there won't be a ‘State of the Game' update this week, The Division 2's next big update is coming in February, which includes enhancements for the next-gen consoles.

In a Twitter thread, Ubisoft Community Developer, Johan, revealed that The Division 2's 12.1 update will be arriving on the 2nd of February. This update will include enhancements for the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles, allowing those systems to run it at 4K and 60 frames per second.

Aside from next-gen performance and graphical enhancements, this update will also bring a rebalance to the optimisation station and how much it costs to re-roll gear stats.

This update also kicks off The Division 2's cross-over event with Resident Evil, which will allow players to earn Resident Evil cosmetic gear for their character.

KitGuru Says: It has been a while since I last jumped into The Division 2, but this update is sounding promising, especially for console players. Do many of you still play The Division 2 at all? Are you looking forward to next month's update?

Ubisoft has drawn new players to The Division 2 with a series of free weekends over the last year but now, there is a new timed trial in place, similar to the one for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Now, those interested can play the game for eight hours for free, before deciding whether to buy the full game.

Those playing the official demo can progress their characters up to level eight and play the game for a total of eight hours. During that time, you should be able to get a good feel for the first story missions and various in-world activities that can be completed.

The trial version does have a couple of other limitations. In-game clans will not be accessible and neither will in-game purchases, which makes sense as participating in cosmetic microtransactions doesn’t make much sense for a game you don’t own, or can’t continue to play after a short period of time.

The trial version of The Division 2 will be available via the Epic Games Store and uPlay. Presumably, it will also come to Stadia and Xbox One/PS4 as well at some point.

KitGuru Says: The Division 2 lured me back in last month with its new expansion. Have any of you been thinking about trying it? Are you going to jump into the trial version?

Stadia is getting another big game this month, as Ubisoft is bringing The Division 2 to the platform in addition to the brand new Warlords of New York expansion. In a move that should be standard for pretty much all co-op, service-style games, The Division 2 on Stadia will also have cross-play with the PC version of the game.

The Division 2 is arriving a little late to Google's cloud gaming platform, although this is still an ideal month to jump in, as the latest expansion arrived this week. The addition of cross-play also makes Stadia a more convenient option, as players can hop in at any time to do some quicker activities before returning to their gaming PC and picking up where they left off.

The Division 2 on Google Stadia will have an option to link your uPlay account, which is required in order to share characters and progression across Stadia and PC. There is cross-play too, so you can matchmake or team up with players on PC.

The Division 2 and the Warlords of New York expansion are coming to Stadia on March 17th. Unfortunately, this is not cross-buy, so those interested will have to buy the game again.

KitGuru Says: I doubt many people will want to re-buy the game in order to stream it, but it is good to see more multiplayer games supporting cross-play and cross-progression at least.

The Division 2: Warlords of New York had a surprise early launch yesterday but things did not go as planned. PC players were the first to get access and they were unfortunately quickly met with bugs and server issues. As a result, Ubisoft is performing “unscheduled maintenance” today with the goal of fixing things up for the rest of launch week.

Some of these issues are reminiscent of The Division 1's launch, with players unable to interact with certain NPCs, errors upon logging in etc. With this bout of unscheduled maintenance, Ubisoft will be looking to fix an issue preventing the objective “Reach City Hall” during the Warlords of New York's opening mission, an issue that traps players in Trinity Church when skipping a cutscene, an issue preventing players from interacting with Community Leader NPCs and other backend improvements to reduce Echo Errors.

The very first patch might not fix every issue entirely but Ubisoft will be looking to squash issues as quickly as possible in order to avoid souring the expansion launch completely.

The Division 2: Warlords of New York arrives this year in place of a Year 2 Pass, taking agents back to New York City to take on new threats and put a stop to enemies attempting to take over Manhattan. On PC, the expansion costs £25.99, meanwhile those who subscribe to uPlay+ will get the new content as part of their subscription.

One of the big changes made for The Division 2 was the swapping out of the open world map, moving players on from the snowy streets of New York City to Washington D.C. Now as we head towards the game's second year, Ubisoft is planning to bring players back to The Big Apple, with a new expansion, story and revamped progression system.

The Division 2: Warlords of New York is set to be the largest update yet, taking players back to Manhattan to revisit some old enemies. The story will focus on stopping Aaron Keener, a rogue agent formerly allied with The Division. Keener has taken control of lower Manhattan, with four lieutenants guarding over territory.

This expansion will push the game's level cap up to 40 and introduce new gear, including high level exotic items. The new announcement video, which you can see above, goes over the situation in NYC and the enemies you can expect to face as you try to clean things up.

There will be new endgame content set in New York City too, so this seems to be a fairly large expansion for the game, expanding the in-game world and filling it up with new content. Currently, The Division 2: Warlords of New York is set to release on the 3rd of March 2020. If you still need to pick up the base game, then it is on sale currently across all platforms, with pricing currently set at $2.99 in the US.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I enjoyed The Division 2 but I definitely enjoyed the NYC setting more than Washington D.C. With that in mind, I'll be looking forward to seeing more of this expansion and just how much of the original map is explorable once again. What do you all think of The Division 2's first major expansion? Is this going to bring you back into the game?

One of the key advantages of a publisher having its own storefront, is the fact that all profits go directly to the publisher, unlike 3rd party storefronts which take a percentage of the profits. This is not only beneficial to the publishers themselves, but also consumers, as it means that the publisher is able to afford to reduce the price of games at a much deeper level, due to that tighter control. Such is the case with Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, which currently has all versions of the game at 85% off on the Ubisoft Store.

The flash sale has listed the Standard Edition for £7.50 (85% off), the Gold Edition for £12.60 (85% off), and the Ultimate Edition for £15.00 (85% off). The Division 2 released in March of 2019, to favourable critical reviews. It was seen as a worthy successor to 2016’s The Division, although sales for The Division 2 on console were less than desired. Still, the game proved to be popular on PC, and even received a nomination for ‘Best Multiplayer Game’ at the 2019 Game Awards.

The flash sale will be running until the 23rd of January at 9am. Ubisoft are also hosting a Lunar New Year sale, offering Rainbow Six Siege for £6.80 (60% off), Assassin’s Creed 2 for £2.92 (66% off), and Anno 1800 for £27.49 (45% off), to name a few. The Lunar New Year sale will be running until the 31st of January, and features almost 400 discounted titles. The Division 2 meanwhile, will be on sale for less than 48 hours.

Ever since the poor launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity, Ubisoft has been turning a new leaf by giving developers more time and remaining open to game delays. Today, Ubisoft held its quarterly earnings report, going over how The Division 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint under-performed and reassessing the release dates for a few of its announced 2020 games.

This year, Ubisoft had forecast higher year-on-year earnings compared to the 2018 to 2019 fiscal year. That estimate has now been lowered by roughly 25 percent to match earnings in 2016-2017. This change comes down to the fact that The Division 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint fell below sales expectations by quite some margin. Ubisoft has been looking into the cause for this, coming up with three main factors:

“First, it is harder to generate interest for a sequel to a Live multiplayer game, when prior iterations have benefited from years of optimisation. Consequently, we need to make sure there is more time between each iteration of Live games.”

“Second, our strategy of introducing gameplay innovations in our games has had a very positive impact on our brands. However, to win over players, these innovations need to be perfectly implemented in order to offer an optimal experience. This has not yet been sufficiently the case with Ghost Recon Breakpoint.”

“Finally, Ghost Recon Breakpoint did not come in with enough differentiation factors, which prevented the game’s intrinsic qualities from standing out”.

Due to Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s launch day issues in particular, Ubisoft is “implementing significant changes” to its production processes. Multiple games pencilled in for early 2020 have also been delayed.

Watch Dogs: Legion is perhaps the biggest game to be affected by delays. The game was due to come out in March 2020 but will now release sometime between the 1st of July and the end of December 2020. Gods and Monsters also falls into this category with the same release window. Rainbow Six Quarantine was also expected in early 2020 but will now arrive some time between the 1st of April 2020 and the 31st of March 2021. Two unannounced Triple A games are also due out in this time frame, one of which is presumably the next Assassin’s Creed.

While Ubisoft’s early 2020 release calendar is now sparse, the publisher is still committed to continued updates and improvements to The Division 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint in an effort to eventually win players over.

KitGuru Says: I’m a tad surprised that The Division 2 significantly under-performed due to positive reviews and reactions from streamers. Ghost Recon Breakpoint seems a bit more obvious as the game didn’t have much positive buzz around it over the course of this year. Did any of you happen to play either of these games? Do you think ‘live service’ games should focus more on evolving over time rather than moving on to sequels every few years?

The Division 2 has been set to get its first full-fledged raid mission for a while now. The mission was originally supposed to drop in April alongside the Tidal Basin update but was pushed back a bit. Now, Ubisoft has given us our first look at the raid in action, which is set to become available to play this week.

Raids are often the pinnacle for MMO-style games, forcing players to group up, think over their strategies and overcome massive hurdles. The Division 2's first raid, also known as ‘Operation Dark Hours', will require an 8-person squad to get through but similarly to Destiny, there won't be matchmaking in place for the raid. Instead, players will need to form their own hand-picked groups, which is an odd decision for a game that hasn't required a ‘looking for group' feature for activities in the past.

If you already have a full squad in mind to take on the challenge, then you will be able to jump in on the 16th of May. As previously speculated, the raid does take place at the Washington National Airport.

Players that complete the raid between the 16th and 23rd of May will receive a commemorative arm patch for their character. Clan groups will get a clan banner icon and a trophy for the social clan space if the raid is beaten at any time, which is a nice little touch.

KitGuru Says: The Division 2's first raid will be landing tomorrow, it will be interesting to see how quickly groups are able to beat it. Are many of you still playing The Division 2? Will you be returning for Operation Dark Hours?

The Division 2 has been out for over a month now and so far, the game appears to be sailing smoothly. The first big content drop began rolling out earlier this month and players have been looking forward to the first raid. Originally, the raid known as ‘Operation Dark Hours' was set to come out next week, but we'll now need to wait a little bit longer to get our hands on it.

The Division 2's Tidal Basin update began rolling out earlier this month, adding in another World Tier difficulty level, a new Stronghold mission, a new multiplayer map and new gear/weapons. The raid was supposed to cap all of this off at the end of the month but in order to fine-tune the experience, the raid will now come out in May instead.

“In order to fine-tune the balance of our game and to ensure the best possible player experience for everyone, we have decided to move the release of Title Update 3—including Operation Dark Hours, our 8-player Raid—from April 25 to May 2019”.

There is no specific release date for Operation Dark Hours at this point but we'll be hearing more on that front very soon. The Division 1 did not contain any raids, so this is a big step for the sequel. Operation Dark Hours will require an eight-player team, all equipped with high-level gear and good communication skills.

We don't know exactly where this raid will be set but rumours suggest it will take place at the Washington D.C airport.

KitGuru Says: While this news is a shame for those who were looking forward to jumping in next week, it is usually best not to rush these things. On the plus side, this will also give more players a chance to spend some extra time gearing up in preparation. Are many of you still playing The Division 2? Are you getting ready for the first raid next month?

The Division 2 has been out for a couple of weeks now and so far, there seems to be a lot of positive buzz surrounding both the main game and the end game content. Over the course of this year, Ubisoft will be working to keep players invested with a series of content updates. The first major one is arriving today and will be followed up by the very first raid later this month.

The Division 2's Tidal Basin update arrives tomorrow, bringing in World Tier 5 enemy difficulty, a new Stronghold mission, a competitive multiplayer map, two new exotic weapons and three gear sets to collect. All of this content will be made live today on the 5th of April.

Meanwhile, Operation Dark Hours will be coming out on the 25th of April. This is The Division 2's first raid mission, it also doubles as the first raid in the series' history. To tackle this, the developers say you will need a full team of eight squad members, all with high-level gear and a good amount of teamwork.

The raid is rumoured to take place at the Washington D.C airport. As with any raid, there will likely be a number of teams ready to jump straight in and race to the finish line.

KitGuru Says: I thoroughly enjoyed The Division 1 but I have yet to put much time into the sequel. Have many of you been playing The Division 2? Are you looking forward to the new content coming this month?

As you might expect, last week's videogame charts were dominated by Ubisoft's latest release- The Division 2. The game has performed well in reviews, leading to it entering the UK charts in the number one spot.

The Division 2 moves players from New York City to Washington DC. This time around, fleshing out end-game and PvP content was at the top of the priority list during development, which appears to have paid off. It is not all good news though, while The Division 2 has entered the UK physical charts at number one, physical sales are down compared to the first game. However, it is worth noting that this can partially be attributed to console gamers shifting further towards digital over physical.

Here is the full UK chart for last week:

  1. The Division 2.
  2. Red Dead Redemption 2.
  3. Grand Theft Auto V.
  4. FIFA 19.
  5. The LEGO Movie 2: Videogame.
  6. Devil May Cry 5.
  7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
  8. Far Cry: New Dawn.
  9. Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
  10. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe.

With The Division 2 entering the chart, the overall shift has caused Metro Exodus and Anthem to have fallen out of the top ten.

KitGuru Says: I haven't put any time into The Division 2 yet but I'm hoping that future DLCs can sway me. While I loved The Division 1, the expansions let me down, so I am hoping things are better this time around. Have any of you tried The Division 2 yet?

Nvidia has kicked off this week with three announcements. For starters, a new Game Ready driver is debuting today with optimisations for Apex Legends, we've received news that the list of ‘G-Sync compatible' displays is expanding to include more options and a new RTX GPU bundle is also on the way.

We'll start off with the new ‘Triple Threat' game bundle. Recently, AMD has been providing competition for Nvidia with bundle deals on the Radeon VII, Vega 64 & 56 and the RX 590. To combat this, Nvidia is bundling three games that showcase RTX features with the RTX 2080Ti and RTX 2080. These games are of course, Metro Exodus, Anthem and Battlefield V. If you grab an RTX 2060 or RTX 2070 instead, you'll be able to choose one of those three games instead.

At CES in January, Nvidia announced that it would finally start playing nicely with FreeSync. GeForce GPU owners can now switch on G-Sync on any adaptive sync display, although Nvidia has a certification program in place for displays that work best.

The list of ‘G-Sync Compatible' certified monitors has now expanded to include the following:
• BenQ XL2540-B/ZOWIE XL LCD
• Acer XF250Q
• Acer ED273 A

Finally, the latest ‘Game Ready' GeForce graphics driver is available starting today. This includes optimisations for Apex Legends, The Division 2 and Devil May Cry 5. Apex Legends is of course already out and thriving, although DMC 5 doesn't arrive until Friday and The Division 2 will be available next week.

KitGuru Says: Game bundles are always a nice addition, although I still think RTX prices could stand to come down a bit. Are any of you planning to pick up one of the big game releases this month?

After announcing The Division 2 in March last year, Ubisoft has been working away on getting the game up to scratch in time for launch. Last month, The Division 2 went through a closed beta test period and now today, we'll be getting a fully open beta.

The Division 2's open beta kicks off today and is available to download through uPlay. The beta includes access to three main missions- two from the private beta and one new ‘exclusive' mission. You'll get to explore the open world and play up to five side missions, while also taking part in world events. For your PvP fix, you'll get access to the Dark Zone East area and play a Skirmish 4v4 mode. Finally, you can sample end-game content with access to one ‘Invaded' mission and three character specialisations so you can try out end-game gear/abilities.

The Division 2's open beta will take place from the 1st of March until the 4th of March. After that, the game will get a full release on the 15th of March. Do keep in mind that on the PC side, this game will be launching on the Epic Games store rather than Steam. As usual though, the game will also be available through uPlay.

KitGuru Says: I sunk many hours into The Division 1 but the post-launch content updates left me underwhelmed. Hopefully Ubisoft does a better job on that side of things this time around. Will you be hopping in for the open beta this weekend?

While The Division 1 had its stumbles along the way, the game was largely viewed as a success by Ubisoft. We have a sequel coming out in just a couple of months time, which means it is time to start talking about the beta. We already knew that The Division 2 would be getting its first beta test wave in February, but now we have a few more details, including a final date, timings and what content will be available.

Over six million people played the beta for The Division 1. The first beta tests for The Division 2 will be closed, meaning you either have to pre-order the game, or sign up via Ubisoft's website to gain access. The Division 2's private beta will be kicking off on the 7th of February at 9AM GMT.

Content-wise, players will have access to a small selection of main and side missions, alongside the ability to explore the map. While the first game took place in New York City, The Division 2 will be switching it up and taking players to Washington DC.

There will be multiple ‘Dark Zone' PvP areas in The Division 2, beta players will be able to access three of them. Finally, on the 8th of February at 9AM GMT, The Division 2 beta will be updated with an endgame mission, to give players a taste of what's to come after finishing the campaign.

The full beta will run for four days but we don't know specifically what time the servers will switch off. Once the beta ends, we'll need to wait for the game's final launch, which takes place on the 15th of March across PC, Xbox One and PS4. Unlike The Division 1, The Division 2 will not be available on Steam– instead, PC players will need to grab the game through uPlay or the Epic Games Store.

KitGuru Says: I put many hours into The Division 1, so I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements are made for the sequel. Are any of you planning on trying this one out?

While Ubisoft suffered some setbacks, The Division 1 did end up being successful enough to warrant a sequel. That second game will be coming very soon too, with The Division 2 set to release in mid-March. Before the official launch kicks off, there will be a beta but getting in comes with some caveats.

The Division 2 will be getting a beta test from the 7th of February through until the 10th of February. Currently, this closed beta test is the only one that has been announced, although there could potentially be a more open test later down the line.

The Division 2 will switch things up in a few ways, the biggest one being a change in setting, moving the game from New York City to Washington DC. Beta access can be achieved in two ways, you can either pre-order the game, or you can sign up for one of Ubisoft's ‘limited' free spaces.

Those who register will be at the whims of Ubisoft and its player targets for the beta. If there are enough player spaces not taken up by pre-orderers, then beta keys will be sent out at random, so its worth trying. The only way to guarantee access is to pre-order, which is never a great way of handling beta tests but has become increasingly popular amongst publishers over the last couple of years.

KitGuru Says: I thoroughly enjoyed The Division 1 but I did find two of the three expansions to be quite disappointing. Hopefully things will be a bit different the second time around. Are any of you planning to jump into The Division 2?

After a largely monopolistic run in the PC video games market, Steam is facing what looks to be tough competition from emerging stores. The Epic Games Store in particular has managed to snag itself a monumental win, as a new partnership with Ubisoft will see The Division 2 snub Steam entirely in favour of the new platform.

While The Division 2 will, of course, still be available on Ubisoft’s own digital store, Uplay and the Epic Store will be the only two places to purchase the sequel since its removal from Steam this morning. Those that pre-ordered on Valve’s platform needn’t worry, as Ubisoft has confirmed it will honour all purchases made elsewhere.

The Division 2 joins a range of Epic Store exclusives, such as Ashen, Hades, and Journey, however this is the first blockbuster from a third-party developer to step into the fray. The only other title to bring an established brand is The Walking Dead: The Final Season, set for release on January 15th.

It looks as though The Division 2 will be just one of many games to come from the partnership, as “additional select titles to be announced during the coming year”. Chris Early, VP of partnerships at Ubisoft shared a few words regarding this latest announcement: “Epic continues to disrupt the video game industry, and their third party digital distribution model is the latest example, and something Ubisoft wants to support”. With that in mind, we can expect other major releases from Ubisoft to also land on the Epic Games store in the future.

Not only does Valve need to watch its back with the Epic Games Store roaming around the block, it also needs to be wary of Discord. The voice chat platform has managed to entice its own exclusives thanks to its unrivalled 10 percent revenue take, such as At Sundown, Bad North and the Kickstarter-funded Last Year: The Nightmare for its first 90 days.

KitGuru Says: I agree with Epic Games in that competition is healthy and certainly in favour of the customer. I’d much rather download multiple clients and potentially save money from competitive prices than be forced to buy from a single store that drives prices ever-higher. How do you feel about The Division 2 heading to the Epic Store instead of Steam?

Over the last couple of years, big Triple A game/GPU bundles have died down a bit. AMD in particular has had great success in this area in the past, with huge bundles that often let gamers choose from a list of good games. This year, AMD is bringing these bundles back, with the launch of the RX 590 being accompanied by a 3-game bundle, including Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2 and Resident Evil 2 Remake.

All three of these games have one thing in common- they don't launch until 2019. Still, if you end up picking up an RX 590, you'll end up with codes for three of the biggest games set for release next year. Since none of these games are out, they are essentially $60 each, turning this bundle into a $180 value add-on for the RX 590.

The RX 590 itself starts at £260 here in the UK , so this isn't a bad deal at all. Beyond that, the card is pretty good to boot if you are still looking to play at 1080p with high graphics settings. We've already reviewed the Sapphire RX 590 Nitro+, which you can check out HERE.

This three-game bundle will be available for the RX 590 in addition to RX Vega GPUs for the foreseeable future.

KitGuru Says: Obviously, the appeal of this bundle will vary from person to person. To me, it seems like a very good deal as I am excited for all three games to come out next year. Have you guys been checking up on reviews of the RX 590? Are any of you thinking about picking one up?

Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced that The Division would be coming back for round two, with a sequel officially in the works. The initial announcement was light on details, but with the publisher confirming a release within the next year, we can now expect a fairly big showing at E3 this year.

The Division 2 was announced earlier this year but the lack of details surrounding the sequel had us questioning when it would release. In Ubisoft's latest quarterly earnings report, it confirmed that the game will be coming out before the end of this financial year- meaning any time between now and March 2019. Beyond The Division 2, Ubisoft will also be releasing The Crew 2 and an “unannounced franchise title”, which could be anything from the rumoured return of Splinter Cell, to a new Watch Dogs or Assassin's Creed game.

We'll be hearing more at Ubisoft's E3 conference, which takes place on Monday the 11th of June. We have the full E3 2018 conference schedule up on the site, so you can check out livestream times for each major publisher.

KitGuru Says: I was a big fan of The Division at launch, but the expansion content did let me down a bit. Hopefully the sequel will have a better plan in place for end-game players. Beyond that, I'm very excited to hear more about this unannounced game at E3, though my bet is on it being Splinter Cell.

The Division was a huge game at launch, in fact at the time it was Ubisoft's fastest selling new IP in its history. While the game was a commercial success, over time that popularity waned as players became dissatisfied with various game updates. However, it looks like Ubisoft is hoping to bring players back for another round, as The Division 2 was announced today.

The Division was often pegged as a third-person variant of Destiny, which is true to some extent. It was a mission-based shooter with a focus on co-op, replay value and gearing up with better loot to take on harder challenges. However, unlike Destiny, Ubisoft made the bizarre decision to not expand on The Division's main story content, which in my opinion, was one of the game's strongest elements next to its world design. DLC drops came throughout the game's first year on the market and then in year two, The Division team dropped future DLC in favour of smaller, gameplay focussed patches.

Now, Ubisoft Massive is taking those lessons learned from the original game and channeling them into a sequel. The Division 2 will be using an updated version of the Snowdrop engine and production is currently in full swing, with Ubisoft's Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Shanghai and Bucharest studios helping to craft the game.

There is currently no release date for The Division 2, nor is there any information on setting, story or end-game content plans. All we really have currently is the promise of improvements over the original, and a logo. However, a community stream is set to take place soon, so perhaps the developers will share more details then.

Those who are still playing the original game on consoles can look forward to a major update though. Alongside the announcement of The Division 2, Ubisoft has announced that the original game will be getting enhanced for Xbox One X, which will enhance graphical fidelity and resolution. There is no word on a PS4 Pro equivalent update though.

KitGuru Says: I have my issues with how Ubisoft handled The Division, but it mainly comes from a place of love. The Division was my favourite and most played game for a good chunk of time, but as a PvE focussed player, Incursions were disappointing and additional story content was sorely lacking. With that said, I do hope that the sequel improves on these areas, if it does, I will probably jump back in. Did many of you play The Division when it came out? What would you like to see improved for the sequel?
