Pros:

  • Very comfortable
  • Wide range of adjustability
  • Very good lumbar support
  • Seat depth adjustment – not seen in all chairs around this price

Cons:

  • Adjustment handles and levers are too short and can be hard to reach when sitting in the chair
  • Fabric finish could stain easily

KitGuru says: The Core Loft chair from ThunderX3 is very, very comfortable. It has a wide range of adjustability that will allow users of most shapes and sizes to tweak it to fit their needs. The finish is very mature and neutral, which will help the Core Loft fit in to most setups and scenarios. The included headrest is very comfortable and materials used throughout the whole chair feel very premium. The inclusion of a foot/arm rest in the UK is a nice addition which does genuinely come in useful. This is a solid choice for anyone looking for a chair that doesn't go to heavy on the ‘gamer' styling and is comfortable and stylish.

ThunderX3 ‘Hex RGB’ Gaming Desks Showcased! https://www.kitguru.net/tech-news/featured-announcement/andrzej/thunderx3-hex-rgb-gaming-desks-showcased/ https://www.kitguru.net/tech-news/featured-announcement/andrzej/thunderx3-hex-rgb-gaming-desks-showcased/#comments Mon, 29 Jan 2018 15:52:30 +0000 https://www.kitguru.net/?p=362302 Today Dean Shaw gives us a run down of the upcoming ThunderX3 Gaming Desks - with more RGB tricks aplenty.

The post ThunderX3 ‘Hex RGB’ Gaming Desks Showcased! first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
While the focus at sister-brand Aerocool is on RGB illumination and a PC desk in which you can build a complete system, ThunderX3 is all about supporting hardcore/pro-level gamers. It's new desk configurations are still going through the final design process, but we managed to catch up with their Product Guru Dean Shaw for a run through of what we can expect to start hitting the stores in the second quarter of this year.

The theme for the new ThunderX3 range of gaming furniture is ‘Hex RGB’. This is a magnetic RGB light module that can be attached to multiple items around the house – should you be so inclined. The line up includes chairs, desks, couches and beam bags.

Desks
There are 2 new models (AD3 and AD5) – each of which is available in 2 sizes. The AD5 has had lift while the AD3 is a fixed frame. At night, the AD5 also looks cooler with its integrated RGB lighting. All models feature a matte, carbon style pattern – suitable for most mice – which effectively gives you a full sized gaming surface.

Monitor Arms/Stands
Easy to attach and use, the ThunderX3 desks can be fitted with optional monitor stands, arms and LED lighting strips.

Hubs
USB hubs are also available – including an integrated power socket for your chargers etc.

Gaming Couches
Big, comfortable and affordable – with prices for the high armed unit expected to be around £275 and £245 for a more ‘open arm’ design. These are quite similar to the Aerocool lounge furniture products that we saw last time around.

Bean Bags
There is a smaller ‘sit on it’ version for £99 and the larger ‘sink in to it’ closer to £149. We absolutely adored the ‘Sink in to it' version, but be warned that it can take a bit of huff-n-puff to get out. Have snacks and liquids available – just in case.

We asked about colour variations and were told that, having experimented with white, green and other options – the most popular colour was black. Gamers are such a surprising bunch!  There are RGB options available in case you want a splash of colour in your life.

KitGuru Says: Integrating plug systems, monitor arms and gaming surfaces is a smart move. From what we could tell, build quality will be decent. The only variable now is cost: Can ThunderX3 price its new gaming furniture range for success?

In an increasingly saturated peripheral market, it can be hard for a new manufacturer to stand out and get some attention. ThunderX3, a subsidiary of Aerocool, are hoping that their TM50 mouse – complete with an Avago 3310 optical sensor, RGB lighting and an aluminium base – will be able to compete with established brands like Corsair and Razer. The TM50 may sound like a fairly typical mouse on paper, but ThunderX3 do have a trick up their sleeve – the mouse costs just £29.90.

For the features on offer, £29.90 looks like a great price for the ThunderX3 TM50. Most flagship mice cost at least £50 – just look at the TT eSports Level 10M Advanced, the Corsair M65 Pro and the Razer Diamondback Chroma. In most cases we would actually consider a mouse priced at £30 to be a ‘budget offering', but considering the on-paper specifications of the TM50 we find it hard to call it a ‘budget' mouse. In this review we will be looking to see if any compromises have been made to achieve this low price-point, or if the TM50 is really as good as it looks.

You would be forgiven for not having heard of ThunderX3 – they are a subsidiary of case manufacturer Aerocool, with a distinct focus on the peripheral market. Today we are looking at the TH40 headset, notably equipped with LED earcups. Priced at just under the £50 mark, this headset faces stiff competition from the recently launched HyperX Cloud Stinger.

The LED earcups are certainly eye-catching, but ThunderX3 will hope the build quality and audio performance of the TH40 also lives up to its billing. In this review we go over everything you need to know about the TH40 before giving our final verdict.

As popular as mechanical keyboards are, there are still plenty of people out there who are content with membrane-style alternatives. Today, we are taking a look at the ThunderX3 TK25 gaming keyboard, featuring rubber dome switches, but adding some extra features like dedicated macro keys. Is it worth the £30 cost? Let's find out.

ThunderX3 doubles as the gaming-focussed side of Aerocool, so there is a lot of industry experience behind the scenes here. The TK25 is one of the lower-end models on offer in ThunderX3's TK range, trading in mechanical switches for membrane ones but keeping a few gaming-specific features.

Without doubt, Aerocool has been one of the better success stories over the past few years. From being a company best known for entry level ‘piano black finish' cases and front panels for controlling fan speeds, they have now established themselves as a creator of chassis that really stand out from the crowd – both in terms of colour range offered and feature set. KitGuru was given an exclusive interview with Tom Naughton, head of AOne Distribution, who bring Aerocool into the UK.

Tom Naughton has brought more chassis into the UK channel than anyone else – with total sales of more than 5 million units.  It's worth considering that number for a second. A large UK system builder might produce something like 25,000 systems a year. To use 5 million cases would take them 200 years. Impressive stuff. Did we mention that, in his spare time, Tom is a champion racing driver?  No doubting his perspective or competitive nature, let's see what he can reveal about what's coming next.

KitGuru says: From the outside, there seems to be 2 schools of thought operating at Aerocool right now. One side wants to pivot back to the simplistic chassis of old, while the other is determined to establish a vibrant brand with strong connections into the gaming community. With Tom's help, we hope that the second group succeeds.

The Computex trade show spans multiple locations in Taipei. Most of the main brands will occupy the huge, purpose built Nangang centre, while others take space in 101 or the Hyatt hotel. Local companies still exhibit in the World Trade Centre (WTC) and it was here that we found Aerocool tucked away on our last day. Once located, we were genuinely surprised at the sheer volume of new products Aerocool is launching in the coming months. Mostly under the ThunderX3 brand, it seems.

With 7 backlight colours, a hybrid-mechanical keyboard and 19 key anti-ghosting, the ThunderX3 TK30-B/S keyboard looks decent and does a nice ‘amBX style light show' on your desk. Macro settings can be customised and there is 512kb of on-board memory as well as UV coated key caps, 1,000Hz report rate and gold plated connectors.

The TH30 headsets seen here have 53mm deep bass drivers, ear pads that have been designed for extended gaming with a detachable/flexible microphone and adjustable EQ.  There is an upgraded version called the THD30 which also offers virtual 7.1 audio, 7 LED backlight effects and a smart remote control box.

The build quality feels good and they seem comfortable to wear.  There will also be the TIH50 and TIH30 earphones with 10mm deep bass drivers, durable metal ear buds and super clear vibes for powerful beats. They also claim to offer the best passive noise cancellation technology in the market. Bold claim.

For those who want a slicker, more substantial headset, then you're likely to find the Aerocool Mars Gaming series more appealing. The MH0 was OK when we tried it, but the MH2 was extremely comfortable. There's half a chance that the red and black design will match your gaming mainboard etc.

Gamer are a hardy bunch, not often thinking as much about their health in the real world as they do hit points in a science fantasy realm. Speak with an optician and there's half a chance that they will suggest special glasses for gamers – designed to reduce eye strain. Aerocool has this base covered with a selection of protective eye-wear to keep your vision healthy. Including units that will go over regular glasses.

Then we come to the mice. An entire football squad of options for gamers to choose from. Each and every kind of innovation that you've seen over the past 10 years is likely to be well represented in Aerocool's ThunderX3 product line up.

We haven't finished yet. Here's a selection of the gaming keyboards that will follow.

Aerocool-ThunderX3-Gaming-Keyboards

Finally, we have seen ‘chord carrying scorpions' in the past, but the integration of multiple USB ports on this chap seems like a very sensible idea.

Aerocool-ThunderX3-Gaming-Brands

.
KitGuru says: Most companies are happy to launch one or two products at Computex. Aerocool clearly believes that it has a lot of catching up to do. While we won't know if there are ‘killer products' in the mix until we have tested them, none of the new ThunderX3 products looked or felt ‘wrong'. The overall standard was good – and the addition of colour flashes means that owners of a DS chassis will be able to coordinate their gaming look.
