Toshiba has announced the recall of around 41,000 computers across the globe, due to potential overheating and related burn risks.

The models they are recalling are the Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and Satellite Pro T130 notebook systems according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Toshiba are offering customers a BIOS upgrade which they say “Toshiba is releasing a BIOS revision which will prevent the computer from overheating in this manner.  To protect you from injury and your computer from damage, Toshiba strongly recommends that you update your system BIOS to version to 2.70 for the Satellite T135, 1.90 for the Satellite T135D and 2.70 for the Satellite Pro T130. ”

People without Internet access (I guess you aren't reading this either) have been asked to contact the company for installation of the upgrade.

Toshiba have received 129 reports of the computers overheating and deforming the plastic casing around the AC adapter plug, according to the Product Safety Commission. Of these there have been two reports of minor burns and two reports of minor property damage.

Toshiba have sold the computers between August 2009 and August 2010 for $600 to $800 and additional information is available from Toshiba at (800) 457-7777 or by visiting this page http://laptops.toshiba.com/about/consumer-notices.
