G.Skill has recently launched a new product called WigiDash, a highly customisable widget dashboard panel. The WigiDash PC Command Panel is designed to display up to 20 on-screen buttons or widgets in a 5×4 grid, allowing users to monitor system performance, control media playback, trigger actions via customised hotkey shortcuts, display useful information, and more.

The WigiDash is an innovative solution poised to significantly enhance PC management and interaction for streamers, content creators, gamers, and PC enthusiasts alike. With its 7-inch 1024×600 IPS touch panel, the WigiDash was designed to optimise workflows and display system information on a touch panel display through hotkey and widget support.

One of the key features of WigiDash is its highly customisable interface and diverse widget functionality. Hotkeys can be customised to select apps, files, links, and trigger actions in the Windows OS, so the most frequently used shortcuts can be accessed via the display. Furthermore, widgets can be included in the mix to display system performance information through third-party software integration, such as HWiNFO and AIDA64 SensorPanel, or show useful information while gaming or working, including widgets for clock, timer/stopwatch, weather, and audio visualiser.

The WigiDash is customisable through the WigiDash Manager software. It is as simple as dragging and dropping widgets into the 5×4 virtual grid to create pages tailored to your needs. You can customise icons, colours, and fonts to your preferences. The “Actions” menu allows the creation of rules and triggers to automate actions on your system or in WigiDash, further optimising workflow and increasing ease of use. Moreover, the WigiDash Manager supports profile export and import to backup or share your pages and configurations.

The WigiDash will be available soon in the UK and EU. It is already available in the US, priced at $129.99.

KitGuru says: Would you consider adding a G.Skill WigiDash for your system? How would you use it?

A company known as Neodron recently filed complaints with the US International Trade Commission alleging that many top smartphone and tablet makers are infringing on touchscreen patents. A series of lawsuits have been filed, targeting the likes of Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, Asus, LG, Sony and more, in an effort to gain royalties for each device sold.

The ITC said this week that it does plan to investigate the complaint, meaning each of these smartphone makers will be called up to answer questions. This comes out of the blue, mostly since Neodron is a patent holding company that acquired its touchscreen patents from Atmel back in 2018. Upon doing so, it immediately began seeking targets to sue in order to obtain a bigger payday.

When it comes to claims against Apple, Neodron claims the iPhone and iPad series of products infringe on patents relating to touchscreen keyboards and touch sensors.

Smartphone and tablet makers aren't the only targets though, Neodron also has the ITC investigating the likes of Dell, Amazon, HP, Lenovo and others over similar patent infringement claims. Currently, we know that the ITC intends to finish its investigation into Apple's side of things in 45 days, but it will take longer to dive in and come to a conclusion on each of the other companies involved.

KitGuru Says: These two complaints cast a wide net, so time will tell whether or not a court forces one of these companies to pay up. We'll be keeping an eye out for more updates in the weeks to come.

Update: It turns out that the pictures that appeared online earlier this month of the rumoured Nintendo NX controller, have been confirmed as fakes by the person behind the posting. They even uploaded a video showing the creation of the 3D model used for the images and how they overlayed some of the supposed in-game graphics to great effect.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpkA2MPgmAg']

The only caveat to the whole thing is that there was no explanation about where the more convincing images that appeared yesterday came from, though as EG points out, it seems likely now that those are fakes too.

That may not be entirely true though, as Nintendo's patent still stands. It could still make a controller that look like this – it just seems likely that these images aren't of it.

Original Story: It was only a few days ago that we saw rumoured images of Nintendo's in-development controller for its next-generation console, the codenamed NX and now we might have more. These don't show a game in progress, but do lend more credence to the idea that the controller will have joysticks layered over a touch screen, letting players game through their fingers, with no face buttons to speak of.

Similar to the original patent filing for the controller and the follow up images we saw last week, these images show a controller sized piece of kit, with a pair of joysticks and a large glossy surface – suggesting of a touch interface.

Where these new images do offer us some extra details, is in contextual size and cable connectors. In both shots, we see a pair of 3.5mm connector earplugs hooked up to it via a small port on the underside. We can also see its relative size in comparison to the Wii U controller, coming in at about two thirds of the length and a third of the height.

Although just as much rumours as these hardware shots, the Redditor who originally posted them did have some details on it too. They confirmed the 3.5mm audio connector, suggested that there is haptic feedback for on-screen buttons, that the rollers along the top act and feel like a mouse scroll wheel and that only part of the joysticks move.

Take this all with a pinch of salt until more confirmation comes in, but don't expect anything official from Nintendo until E3 later this year at the earliest.

KitGuru Says: Although we don't know for sure if this is the NX controller, it's looking more and more like it might be. What do you think of the design?

We've been hearing a lot of rumours over the last few months regarding Nintendo's next console, the NX. So far, we have no idea what it is going to be or what features it will bring to the table but we do know that Nintendo has been making some interesting patent filings, the most recent of which, shows off a gamepad built out of a display.

Smartphone makers like Samsung have already begun experimenting with flexible displays but Nintendo could have other plans in mind. The patent image was submitted by five Nintendo employees, describing a game controller with a front facing touch screen display, with two holes punched out to make room for analogue sticks.

nintendo_patent.0

The screen itself could use LCD or OLED technology and even be capable of glasses-free 3D, just like the 3DS. The filing also shows off some non gaming usage scenarios, like a browser in the centre of the display.

Nintendo has been known to do its own thing and not follow industry trends, so it would make sense to see the company do something totally unexpected with the NX and as far as gamepads go, this is about as unexpected as you can get. Right now, we don't know when the NX will launch or when Nintendo will announce anything new, but rumours are suggesting that mass production will begin in Q1 2016.

KitGuru Says: It will certainly be interesting to see what Nintendo comes up with for the Nintendo NX, especially if it ends up following what is listed in this patent. Do you guys think Nintendo should keep trying with its ‘out of the box' controllers? Would you rather see it adopt a more traditional style?

When Windows 7 was first announced many thought the touchscreen support might create a viable alternative to the trusty mouse and keyboard.

Acer are releasing a new LCD monitor, called the T231H which replaces the T230H. It features an advanced ergonomic design that Acer are promoting to offer ‘maximum comfort even during sustained use'.

The screen can be rotated and tilted from 5 inches to 60 inches using one hand which will certainly cover all the bases for positioning and locations.

Technically, the screen offers 1080p resolution (1920×1080) and combines a fast 2ms response time with a high contrast ratio of 80,000:1

VGA, DVI and HDMI will be supported and the price is quite competitive at £319.99.

KitGuru says: Do you really want grubby fingerprints all over your screen? Perhaps this is made just for you!
